I will give it four stars just for being there. A place that has been a part of my life for more many years that I seldom use because I live just one stop away, and it is easier to get the bus. Archway has a bewildering number of Bus stops, 8 on the old roundabout turned elbow. The Tube station design wise, it draws a complete blank. An underground that's doubly underground shrouded by Archway Towers, a Premier Inn and a whole tier of spruced up seventies' architecture, with some new build, a big food M&S, still you can be in the centre of town in ten minutes or the City.
Outside, well I don't know where to start, I suppose calling it an architectural pastiche is about the kindest thing, the whole sixties seventies modernist bit around and under the station would make a well known Royal wilt.
A Victorian shopping parade, and post-war council estates abut the junction East and West, Kebabs and coffee, groceries, you get the picture.
Archway, cross roads that burrows into Highgate Hill an out again to Barnet, MillHill East via the spur at East finchley and via Charring cross South across the river.
The image I made on my old desk top using Photshop. I think it suits a screen grab would work but sadly bland, besides I like putting my own stuff up. I might do an abstract of the tube interior if I can remember to take a shot next time I am down there.
