Yelp
The Baseline: For a movie theater the seats must be comfortable/clean, the condition of the theater must be up-kept/maitained, the concessions must have good movie offerings, and the extra-film-types (3D,4D, IMAX,etc.) must work when available. Theater: CinemaWest Beach Cities is a relatively new theater that has reopened the old Arclight theater that closed pre-pandemic. CinemaWest has done a great job revamping the space. The lobby is clean and open, the seats are comfortable recliners, and the screen projector quality is clear, and the sound is really crisp. Bathrooms were clean. Food: The concessions are still great with a good selection of snacks, popcorn, and sodas along with the incorporation of Pink's Hotdogs for hotdog and burger offerings. Service: The staff at the theater were friendly and efficient.

Yelp
I had no idea CinemaWest took over the old Arclight that I would sometimes go to. When I started looking for an AMC replacement, this seemed to be the ideal place to visit. Parking: still free with plenty of spots outside and inside the garage. This is an automatic plus! It's a short walk from the outside lot to the doors (you'll see Pink's first) then the theater doors are right past the patio. Paid for my ticket with the guy at the counter, but they won't take cash even thought I had the even amount. Somewhat frustrating, but not the end of the world. As for food, I went with a kids pack which had a small soda (they pour so no free refills), popcorn, and Welch's fruit snacks. This was just okay. Pretzel bites are my usual go-to, but I would have to say skip them. They give you eight of them and cheese is additional at $2.25. I will admit I did end up coming back for these, and again, I wouldn't get them on any future visit. I'd actually skip the food here to be honest although if you eat hot dogs, maybe the Pinks is worth it. Theater was fine, sound was fine. I just appreciated the fact the movie was $5 on a Tuesday ($6 if you are not part of their program) so this in itself is worth it if you're in the area. This is also the closest one to me so it's a no-brainer. I still enjoy Alamo DH but I don't always want to head into DTLA, so this is an alternative. I did forget to scan my rewards code at concessions, and was told I could attempt to reach out to their customer service via email. There is no contact button whatsoever on the specific site for Beach Cities, but if you go to the general site, there is a generic email. It's been over a week and I have yet to hear back from them. 3-stars overall for the location, parking, theater, food but lack of customer service (on replying).

Yelp
Nice and clean theater with plush roomy seats. You just won't really get any service here. This is a self checkin type theater and you show yourself to your seats. Zero interaction with staff but it would've been nice for someone to greet and ask if I needed help. There is overflow parking alongside the end of the theater so you don't need to park in the lot.

Yelp
First time here on Saturday and I will definitely be back! This theater is clean, open and airy and the parking is easy in the attached lot. The staff are also so friendly and helpful. Also love that they have a bar/lounge area that serves food. I just ordered some fries, wine and also popcorn from concessions. My husband got a burger which he enjoyed. They also have the comfiest recliners and trays attached to each seat for your food and drinks. So happy we found this place...really reminds me of Arclight.

Yelp
It's new, it's clean and there's plenty of parking. The seats are super comfy. I really enjoy going to the movies, still! I highly recommend this one.

Yelp
Best cinematic experience I can ask for. Watched Tron Ares in 4DX here and had to come back for Wicked For Good. 4DX has mists, water, special lighting effects. It is affordable costing around 20 dollars which is standard for other movie tickets. Seats are comfortable and clean. Overall the whole theater is well kept!

Yelp
Glad to see that a new theatre is located in this space, totally remodeled, super comfortable and reclining seats. Friendly staff, reasonable ticket prices, rewards program. $5.00 Tuesdays. Plenty of parking, away from the malls. Great choice if you want to spend some time watching a movie on the big screen

Yelp
CinemaWest has been open since February and while it has some new features it has the old ambiance of super cool, great design and a truly unique experience to watch a movie. One thing in particular which has this place head and shoulders above the rest is its seating which are all recliners, complete with a table if you want service! The sound and vision of course was truly outstanding-- so happy that the real silver screen is back!! Additionally they have recreated their bar and seating experience as well as the food-- it's a perfect match. Well done Cinema West!

Yelp
This is a nice upgrade to Arclight. We went to see Sinners. It looked like they were still finishing up, as there were seats in the hallway leading to the movie theaters. Having a Pink's is a nice touch but it's pricey. I had the fries and loved them. Mostly everything is via technology but there are plenty of staff members available. We loved the seating and enjoyed the movie.

Yelp
Caught an early matinee here and I had the whole theater to myself! Excellent customer service. I also enjoyed my overpriced pinks plain hot dog ! I understand the price though, as you are paying for convenience and it is a movie theater, so there is always an upcharge . As far as hotdogs go it's probably the best hot dog you could probably get in any movie theater. I also loved the new seats . I think they did a really good job with the remodel. I haven't been here in over a decade. I think the last movie I saw was no country for old men here almost 20 years ago. The new owners / company is doing a good job so far . Check it out .

Yelp
I wanted to experience the 4DX which involves you in the movie experience by motion seats, along with wind, mist, scents and fog. Decided to see Jurassic World Rebirth in 4DX. If you get motion sickness, 4DX won't be for you. Also I'd caution movie goers eating and drinking during the movie will be challenging. Fortunately I scarfed down my hot dog before it got too wild. For Jurassic World, the only sensation I experienced was a lot of jerking and occasional misting (which you have an option to turn off the misting with a button on the armrest). There was no scents or fog effects during the movie. Experience this once was enough for me. It got monotonous. There is an up charge for the 4DX. On $6 Tuesdays it's $14. Cinema West offers other theaters set up with various movie experiences. Like Dolby Atmos sound technology. Screen X with a 270 degree panoramic viewing experience. And IMAX and D-Box.

Yelp
Great theater love the seats - sat in the "normal" movie theater #6. Love how much they recline also enjoy the option for blankets for $20 a bit expensive but on date night or out with the family and someone is cold nice to have that option. Are my first PINKs hot dog and boy was it good - only complaint was $8 for a medium fountain drink.....like cmon I get people aren't drinking much so you have to make up in the soft beverage category but man that's high! Over all love the place will be back

Yelp
So many upgrades at the old Archlight. Pinks is the restaurant and you can go without seeing a movie. It also has a full bar. Totally renovated, the sound and seats are amazing. ScreenX is cool, like VR, best seats are middle back to get the full view. So far so good, welcome back to South Bay

Yelp
We came today to see the latest Superman movie. The previous theater in El Segundo is gone and replaced by the CinemaWest Beach Cities. Restaurants across from the cinema are also gone as the result of the COVID lockdown. Tickets can be purchased online or in person on a DOY kiosk. The cinema had a bar/restaurant with seating inside and outside patio. There is also a standard snack bar area. I wanted to buy a bottle of water and a kids popcorn combo which included a small popcorn, small drink and treat. The water cost $9, the kids combo was $13. Yikes! No thanks. The front restroom was dirty. The back restroom was better but not great. The theater where we were in was small with limited seating, the screen was medium, and the reclining seats were very comfortable. The sound was uncomfortably loud for a small theater. Not sure if I'll return.

Yelp
During a recent concert at SoFi Stadium, my wife and I walked past Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas. We briefly considered watching a movie there, but after seeing an abundance of warnings on Yelp to steer clear and head to CinemaWest Beach Cities instead, we quickly changed our minds -- and I'm so glad we did. Thank you Yelpers, because the five stars are well deserved. Buying tickets is a breeze: there are several self-service kiosks at the front, and you can even order food there too. We ended up ordering food from Pink's, and while I could go on and on about the onion rings, I've covered that in a separate review. All I'll say here is: arrive early so you don't miss your chance to try them -- they really are legendary. We saw Superman in Theater 1, and the recliner seats were incredibly comfortable -- the kind you could easily fall asleep in. Each seat comes with a large swivel table so you don't have to awkwardly balance food in your lap. There's also tons of leg room, so if someone in your row needs to step out mid-movie, you won't have to shuffle or move. The Dolby Atmos sound system is excellent, the facilities are clean, and honestly, there's nothing to complain about. Plenty of parking is available across the street and behind the theater as well. Would absolutely watch another movie here -- no hesitation.

Yelp
We have, especially myself have been to four movies already. This in a span of a little over a month. This location and theaters are awesome. The membership prices are great, the benefits are fantastic. I have received a free popcorn, $1 popcorn, and discounted drink prices for all sizes. Their membership also includes discounted matinee and evening shows. I first came to know about this theater from a friend whom also is a member. The theaters themselves are larger than usual size. All offer spacious, and recliner seats w/individual tables. They are rarely, I mean I never seen them at capacity. The best thing about this theater, is the sound quality. And, the only theater that, I know, that features a 280 degree "ScreenX" and 4D experiences. I really hope that it stays this way. But, also hoping this location stays open! The staff are always friendly and helpful. The check-in(s) are incredibly easy at the kiosks too. Hands down the best for price, convenience, and location. The only other cinemas I have been to, but very pricey are the IPIC in Century City and Pasadena. Absolute must, visit(s)!

Yelp
I was so sad when Arclight closed down in the South Bay. I saw the sign for CinemaWest as I was running errands. When I got home and looked it up, it looks like they took over the property and opened up earlier this year. I had the opportunity to check it out a couple weeks ago. They made some renovations, and I have to say I like the new theatre! The seats recline and are super comfortable, so comfortable you can fall asleep. I like the idea of being able to pick up drinks and food from Pinks. The move away tables are not so intrusive but just enough to set your meal. The set up for waiting for food takes a while when busy but otherwise it was an overall nice experience. The bathrooms were clean and the staff throughout the theatre were helpful. I'd rather spend my money here for a nicer laid back movie experience than Del Amo AMC.

Yelp
This is probably the best theater in the south bay for now. why do i say for now? since they just opened i dont think many people know they are open. the theaters as others have mentioned are brand new and well maintained. we watched star wars on a tuesday. every tuesday all movies are cheap! if you arent a member of their movie club( its free to sign up) tickets are 6 dollars each. if you sign up for the movie club they are 5 dollars each. the food is typical movie theater grub, and typical movie theater pricing. what are the cons? there isnt any other location around here unlike say amc or cinemark where there are many theaters around. also, the shopping center around the theater is more or less a ghost town. overall the staff is friendly, the venue is very clean, and price on tuesday cant be beat!

Yelp
Love 4DX & 2X screen!! Depending on what you prefer the 2X has a wrap around screen that makes action amazing! The 4DX is almost like a roller coaster, just more mild. We saw Brad Pitts new F1 movie on 4DX, and Fantastic Four on 2X screen. Concessions available.
google avatar

Celest M.

Yelp
I'm so happy the movies came back!! The Arclight is welll missed and the south bay has been long waiting for a new theater to open! I had high expectations and the new CinemaWest definitely met them! It's incredibly clean and well-taken care of and added new luxurious (VERY) comfortable seats. They def updated the sound system because the movie (Captain America Brave New World) was loud and great quality. I understand its pricey because its a high-end theater but I will return! I'm pleasantly suprised they brought Pinks and will try it next time!

Yelp
Everything went well. The service received and the employees willingness to help when questions were asked.
google avatar

Alona L.

Yelp
Amazing upgraded movie theater with friendly and helpful staff, Pinks hotdogs (you can eat there or take with you to the seats). They also have a full bar, local beer on tap. Every seat is a recliner seat! Big plus for me is that there is no food delivery to the seat (you can bring the food) but they don't disturb you during the movie.
google avatar

neesha f.

Yelp
Very Clean and the seats are comfortable. However, the food needs an upgrade. Unfortunately, it lacks flavor and freshness in comparison to Playa Vista where we frequently go. We ordered the chicken sandwich and I DO NOT recommend it.

Yelp
The ArcLight Beach Cities was our go-to home theater, so being without it for the last five-plus years has been tough. So glad to have the location back open and with the much-needed refurbishment it needed! We went to a screening on opening week, and it's clear they're still working the bugs out and having to train new staff on the fly, so a little patience is required for anyone coming in the next few weeks. In fact, the employee who helped us at the snack bar mentioned we were the first customers he'd ever helped! Ha! That said, the staff was extremely friendly, eager to assist, and there was a great vibe in the lobby from the moment we walked in. As a previous review mentioned, the ticket purchasing process through the app felt a bit clunky, as the South Bay location seems to be in a completely different system than the rest of Cinema West's other theaters. So a previous account I'd set up for Cinema West didn't work and a new account had to be created. There was no way to add my rewards number or points to the snack bar purchase. Assuming this is all stuff still in the works. The first thing any returning previous Arclight goer will notice is that everything has gotten a new coat of paint, carpet, and the building looks and feels brand new. Gone is the Arclight wall of backlit posters, replaced with a lookout to the second floor (presumably for the "Giant Screen" in the first auditorium). The snack bar is stocked with good popcorn and drinks. The beers on tap are, for the most part, all local to El Segundo. And Pinks providing the main dishes is a fun and great addition. The dogs are large foot-longs, akin to the usual Pink's menu. The chili cheese dog included a good deal of delicious chili topping. The Hollywood dog is piled a mile high with toppings. The new bar and seating area around Pinks is spacious, way larger than what Arclight had before. And the patio area will be a welcome addition when the weather warms up. Inside the theaters, the brand new screens, refurbished walls, new carpeting, and amazing new reclining chairs with personal food trays are fantastic. We were in one of the smaller rooms toward the back, but even the "lessor" rooms feature new laser projection and booming sound. I can't wait to try out one of the larger auditoriums with the 4DX or the previously mentioned giant screen. Presentation was top-notch. Even in the small room. Pre-show content was mercifully provided by a vendor that focuses on the film-going experience, showing behind the scenes featurettes and movie trivia over the horrible AMC preshow. And, compared to AMC, trailers began at the exact screening time, were limited to four trailers run, and we were off and going. So great to not be looking at your watch 30 minutes after the show was supposed to start and you're still watching a Disney Cruise commercial. All-in-all, Cinema West has brought back the experience I'd hoped that it would and I can't wait to become a regular!

Yelp
I was thrilled that they brought this theater space back to life. I missed the Arclight. They've done a great job. It's clean, it's easy to buy tickets, the popcorn's good, and the seats are comfy, with a nice tray to place your items. I was greeted by a friendly server who got my drink/popcorn order. I like that you can order your ticket and food in the same transaction.
google avatar

Kah T.

Yelp
This place is my new go-to for movies. I don't have to drive myself over to the Cinemark in Playa Vista anymore. Thank goodness! The seats are CLEAN and the staff is knowledgeable. The highlight of this place is the 4D experience. The seats move, fans blow directional gusts, and there is even fake snow. If you get motion sickness though just be cautious. One more thing though, if you have a wide body type then you might be uncomfortable.

Yelp
Came here for the first time to watch Jurassic Park and were so excited--especially since we've been missing the Arclight. Unfortunately, the experience was a huge letdown. As soon as the movie started, a family with eight children began causing a ton of disruption. The kids were standing on chairs, talking loudly nonstop, throwing popcorn, and the parents made no effort to manage them. Zero movie etiquette. We ended up "shh"-ing them for half the movie until we finally got up and complained in the front (which was on the opposite side of the theater and missed 20 min of the movie). When we spoke to someone at the front, they seemed annoyed at us for even bringing it up. They sighed and rolled their eyes as they said "let me get someone". They eventually sent someone in, who briefly told the family to be quiet... and then just walked out. Of course, the noise and chaos continued for the rest of the film. The staff didn't follow up or seem to care at all. Super disappointed with how it was handled. We came to enjoy the movie, not to babysit. Sadly, we won't be returning to this theater. I've had better experiences at AMC lol.
google avatar

Simon S.

Yelp
This place is not ready for prime time. The app is a joke, try and access your account and it won't let you. Try and reset your account. Nope. Try and get help on site. Also nope. I am in the industry and will taking my business to cinemark or Cinepolis or even AMC. Yes. AMC. I was so excited for the reopening and just so disappointed. Have tried it now 3 times and my answer is still "nope". So bummed. We were there on the weekend they opened and put the glitches down to "starting up". The people working here could not be nicer but the overall system is not working yet. I want to believe.

Yelp
Best movie theater in the South Bay! This is our go-to spot now for movies. Clean and updated? Check Seats that recline? Check Good food for meals? Check. If you're an LA native, then you know about Pink's, and you know how yummy their hotdogs are. Adult drinks? Check.

Mauricio F.

Yelp
Good, the food was reasonable taste can't complain there Bad, saw Jurassic Park and the surrounding sound wasn't what I was expecting. I came here thinking it was going to be an awesome experience but it was just ok.

Yelp
Came here to see Leo and stick for Father's Day Been going to this location since i was a kid and it's made several changed since then! This i belive is the second time the revamped it Seamless ticket experience, but online and have tick email to you, once you arrive pull your email with QR code , scan and the self automated ticket counter and boom your tickets come out! There is no longer an arcade here , but they have really nice seating with an open layout which is perfect for large groups and kids to run around The seats are really nice and you get that lazy boy recline ( almost feel asleep ) haha for now super clean

Traci O.

Yelp
Theater nice, price gouging leaves a litter bitter taste in the mouth. $2.05 for a side of ranch that didn't come with the chicken fingers. Manager Stacy's very curt reply to why so expensive for such a small container was 'I don't set the prices, corporate does.' Customer service at its finest.
google avatar

Alan B.

Yelp
Went to the movies here the other day, saw pinks, but I had just had lunch, theater was nicer then I remembered it..As for pinks, hadn't had one in 30 years, so yes our next visit to this theater we will have a few dogs..
google avatar

Tim B.

Yelp
Their concession stand is monumentally, slow, an adequately staffed, especially on their Tuesday discount nights in which they apparently have special screenings from third party vendors. Otherwise, they're seating and screenings are top-notch.
google avatar

Jay M.

Yelp
Recliner seats are great. Vibe is cool. Food and prices are terrible. $7.50 for a coke bottle and $13 for distasteful burger. Fries were good.

Rebecca A.

Yelp
This place has all the potential to be a great movie-going experience but it unfortunately operates like a major shit show, especially concessions and order pick up. Owner and CEO Dave Corkill needs to hire operational consultants ASAP. We were patiently waiting in the concessions line to order and when it was our turn, the man at the register quietly disappeared and never came back until the lady at the next register gave us an attitude, told us it wasn't a line, and to get in the back of a different line. This was after 3-4 other staff looked at us and kept it moving without offering assistance. The manager saw what happened (or maybe it happened to someone else too) and did nothing to help us and sounded annoyed. I did hear him yell to the back "hey guys you can't just leave the register." This is just the tip of the iceberg given the other broken systems that negatively impacted our day here. First and last time we will come here. Certainly not worth the prices. Also, the restrooms near the food area did not have any soap available to properly wash hands.

T M.

Yelp
It's our new favorite theater. For starters the seats are brand new and super comfortable. However the reason I'm writing a review is to shout out to Cheyanne (sp?) one of the managers. We had a glitch with an online purchase and her customer service was above and beyond. I hope her higher-ups read this and promote her.

Cody M.

Yelp
Was very happy with my experience here tonight! Beautiful and very clean movie theater! We went to Superman and watched it on the "ScreenX" screens and wow, what an experience. The side walls of the theater are projected with the film, so cool! The chairs are so comfortable, I could have stayed and watched another movie! Great service from the guys at the concession stand and was greater on the way out with care! We will be back! Thank you for a great movie experience!

Betty V.

Yelp
Our family went to the 4D showing in Theater 8 for Demon Slayer and while the theater itself was very clean and practically empty (which was nice), the actual 4D experience was a letdown. The graphics and visuals were all super cool, but the effects were consistently delayed by a few seconds, which completely threw off the immersion. We specifically paid extra for the 4D effects expecting it to enhance the movie, but instead it ended up distracting us and honestly ruined the experience. For the price difference, it didn't feel worth it at all. I really hope management can look into fixing this issue, because I would love to give the theater another chance when the effects are working properly.
google avatar

S C.

Yelp
Great staff from management to the counter service. Nice seats that are fully adjustable. The electrical work and construction here seems superior to most. 4DX!!!
google avatar

Julie C.

Yelp
We are thrilled to see this theatre reopen! We were big fans of the Arclight and were sad when it closed due to the pandemic. Cinemawest kept all of the good things about Arclight. Excellent sound and screen quality, great food and outstanding service. Parking is free and close which is a huge benefit.
google avatar

Debbie W.

Yelp
Love it! Great new seats and different theatre experiences. Tuesday $6 movies is terrific. And pinks hot dogs and a full bar.

maria h.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the new theater. The seats are very comfortable. We ate at nomads across from the theater and it was delicious. The movie technology was fantastic. Saw Mission impossible. Will definitely come back.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is newly renovated theater with screen x and 4xd it's amazing if u haven't been to one totally different and fun for the whole family to enjoy
google avatar

Geoff S.

Yelp
We just saw Mission Impossible in the ScreenX theater, a first for us. Very cool. For certain scenes the image is extended onto the side walls--which have additional projectors of their own. Makes a big action movie bigger--IMax-like.
google avatar

Johanna H.

Yelp
I loved it! Theater is clean, comfortable, and convenient. I wish they would show more movies! I watched Sinners on a Thursday. Will definitely be going back.
google avatar

Yelp
Great beautiful theatre. Smaller theatres so it's more personal and awesome very comfortable seating! Wide assortment of food including sit down restaurant next door.

Yelp
Great place to watch a movie in the South Bay! The concessions are on point as well! Convenient parking and excellent near by restaurants!

Yelp
Watching the movie was great best seats I think I've had for a movie, everything movie related was awesome however before the movie went up to the bar. No one there just the bartender. Wasn't quite rdy so sat at the bar to look at the menu. Someone comes to the register so bartender takes order no problem there. Make eye contact give the head nod that I'm rdy. Never comes 10 mins past he now has a line that formed still ignores me finally I say something says needs to handle the line first ???? Like I haven't been sitting at the bar the entire 10-15 mins at this point. My movie was about to start so I left with no drink, was going to order for my group of 5 lost out on a easy 100 dollars. Think the bartender name was Kelly white dude.
