What ‘Reopened’ Restaurants Look Like in 17 Cities Worldwide - Eater

"The diners at the alfresco establishments dotting the usually lively Arco della Pace quarter reflect the shifting mores: a solo diner takes care to avoid any unnecessary human encounter; a party of six clinks spritzes, masks dangling from their ears; a trio greets each other with shoulder pats instead of the customary double-cheek kiss." - Eater Staff

Nice arch monument built during Napoleon's time. Looked nice. Some event was going on nearby and the place right next to it was all getting ready for that. We found just a few tourists here. Good place for few clicks. Visit if you have time.

An elegant monument in a beautiful, relaxed setting. Arco della Pace is a majestic triumphal arch that offers a quieter and more peaceful experience compared to other tourist spots in Milan. The surrounding park is perfect for a calm walk or relaxing with a view of this impressive neoclassical structure. It’s especially beautiful at sunset, when the light hits the arch just right. A great place to slow down, take photos, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Arco della Pace is truly a stunning and historic landmark in Milan. Located at the edge of Parco Sempione, it offers a perfect blend of architectural beauty and a peaceful atmosphere. The arch itself is a masterpiece, inspired by Roman triumphal arches, with detailed sculptures and elegant design. The surrounding area is vibrant yet calm, with charming cafes and wide open spaces where people relax, walk, or enjoy the view. Whether you’re a history lover, a photography enthusiast, or just someone looking for a quiet and beautiful spot, Arco della Pace is definitely worth a visit.

Arco della Pace (Arch of Peace) is one of Milan’s most striking landmarks — often overlooked, but definitely worth the visit. Located at the edge of Parco Sempione, it’s a beautiful and peaceful spot to unwind, especially at sunset when the light hits the arch just right. This grand neoclassical arch has a fascinating history. It was originally commissioned by Napoleon in the early 1800s to celebrate his victories and was meant to be the entrance to Milan from Paris. However, after Napoleon’s fall, the arch was completed under Austrian rule and rededicated to peace — hence the name. The detailed carvings, bronze statues, and elegant columns make it a great place for history buffs and photographers alike. There are plenty of benches and cafés nearby, making it ideal for a relaxed afternoon. Tip: Visit in the evening when locals gather in the area — it has a lively yet laid-back atmosphere and is a great contrast to the more touristy parts of the city.

I stumbled upon Arco della Pace after wandering out of Parco Sempione, and wow—what a majestic surprise. You don't really expect to find something this grand just sitting there, wide open, like it's not even trying to impress you… but it does anyway. The symmetry is stunning. The marble glows in the late afternoon light, and the bronze horses galloping up top give it this quiet drama, like they’re frozen mid-conquest. I sat at the base for a good half hour, just people-watching—joggers, kids on scooters, couples on benches, locals walking their dogs like it's just another day with a literal triumphal arch in their backyard. Classic Milan. It’s not overcrowded like the Duomo, and there’s something serene about it, especially with the view straight down Corso Sempione. A bottle of San Pellegrino, a book, and this view = perfect Milan moment. Highly recommend coming here during golden hour. It feels like a living painting. And yes, your camera will fall in love.

The beautiful arc is located next to the big and lovely park in Milan. The arc is adorned with a lot of detailed ornaments and statues that stand tall amongst the lower buildings surrounding the park. The area around it is empty but there is a half circle structure where you can sit down and enjoy the arc in all its glory. There are a few lovely bars and restaurants nearby with a nice view of the building. It's well worth a visit, which you can combine with the park or with the nearby Chinatown district! So if you got some time on your hands or have visited the Castello, don't skip this one!

We did a walking tour of Milan and ended here. It was fenced off due to an event being planned the following day so we couldn't get too close. Tram 1 has a stop close by which made it easy to return to our hotel. Just prior we had been to Castello Storzesco and it was an easy and enjoyable walk through the park to get Arco della Pace.

Elegant triumphal arch located at the end of Parco Sempione, behind Castello Sforzesco. The area around Arco della Pace is lively yet relaxed, with plenty of cafes and outdoor seating, perfect for photos, people-watching, or a coffee break. Note: Visit around sunset for great lighting and atmosphere. From here, you can easily continue on to Via Paolo Sarpi, Milan’s Chinatown, by walking (~20 min) or taking Tram 10 (~10 min). #arcodellapace #arch #milan #italy #travel #tram #walk #chinatown

Yelp
A beautiful arch and very popular landmark in Milan. This arch is known as the "arch of peace" and is the gateway into Parco Sempione. It was once used as the official entrance into the park, but now it's known as a notable landmark all on its' own. At any given time, you'll see lots of people around this arch taking pictures and admiring its' beauty. There's also a large pavilion area that surrounds the arch where occasional events are held. I've been to a few other international arches, and this one is very reminiscent of others that I've seen. What separates this arch from the others are the Roman sculptures on the top of the arch and the Roman art pieces etched on the facade. They are truly unique as also quite stunning. I walked through this arch at least a handful of times during my trip to Milan, and each time that I was able to view this beauty made that much more fascinating. When in Milan, you're prone to passing by this arch at least one time during your visit.

Yelp
Known as the arc of peace. It was built sometime in the 19th century to commemorate a victory for Napoleon. This as with all arches are most beautiful at night for pics, but lovely to see the detailing during the day. I don't know how many arches I have seen around the world, quite a few, but this one is just as pretty. There was a great attention to detail in every aspect and facet of this arch, it shows and it's beautiful as a result.

Yelp
I love that it's at the entrance of the park, you can seat and relax and admire this beautiful monument. Again, on weekends they seems to have concerts and it was full of techs and andamios. Better on a weekday.

Yelp
Peace? This appears to celebrate Napoleon beating the Austrians. Large plaza. A number of people enjoying the sunshine after yesterday's rain.

Yelp
Arco della Pace is so beautiful in person! We walked from Castello Sforzesco and through Parco Sempione to get up close and it was totally worth it. The two buildings next to it were under construction but hopefully we can come back and see it again!

Yelp
So this is my 5th Arc - Napoleon sure liked to leave these around on his EU travels! I have seen the ones in India, France, Belgium, Germany and now Italy (Arc de Triomphe in Paris, Brandeburg gate in Berlin, the Arc in Parc du Cinquantenaire or Jubelpark in Brussels, the Wellington Arch in London, and India Gate in Delhi The marble is similar to that of the duomo and I really really loved the sculpture of the horses on top. However getting here was a challenge as I walked what seemed to be endless paths thru the gardens - there wasn't a straight route, with the result that I often ended up in random nooks. One path I took had young immigrant men crowding the route and I got a lot of cat calls # No Fun :( It's a wide open space here for this arch, and might actually be one of the few that is located in a park and not part of city traffic patterns. I enjoyed checking it out, and can see why it's a fave place of the locals to hang out.
