The vibes! Ardy & Ed’s will take you back in time. It’s an old fashioned drive-up burger joint. The servers meet you at your car and deliver your meal on roller blades. I had the super burger, my son got the kid’s cheeseburger meal, and we both enjoyed an ice cold draft root beer in a frosty mug. The food was delicious! We will definitely be back.

The turtle ice cream is to die for . Great service and food for very reasonable prices . The girls on roller skates are super sweet and give great service .

We came for the Oshkosh EAA AIR VENTURE and stopped here for lunch. The serving sizes are very nice! The Ladies on the Roller Skates were very friendly and overall we were very pleased with this Drive in Restaurant!!

Classic root beer stand with roller skating car hops. Traditional fast food with ice cream treats. Iconic Oshkosh restaurant!

Google
A throwback to old drive in’s (and Sonic started in my hometown). Loved the atmosphere, service was fast and friendly (and on skates). The root beer is excellent. Cheese curds were very good. I had the double? With brat meat and beef and enjoyed as a nice change from a standard hamburger.

Traditions have to start somewhere. Why not start here. I was introduced to this place a couple of years ago. Go ahead and try a "Black Cow"! When Air Venture begins we tend to stop by for a cold drink. A fun place to go.

Google
Tasty food and a neat drive-in experience, complete with roller skates. There's also an area to sit outside your car with picking cables. They brew their own root beer, and it's quite tasty. The cheese curds are delicious, and I'm definitely going to try the deep fried mushrooms and turtle sundae next time.

Google
Super fun place, food was great and service was phenomenal! Highly suggest their homemade root beer, you know it’s good when you can buy it to-go in gallons. They come to your window offer a menu and put something under windshield to show that you’ve been helped, they tell you to put on your hazards when you’re ready. It is made to order so it does take a little while but you are allowed to order ahead for pick up if you’d like. Highly suggest this place even saw some people order and walk across the street to have a picnic at the lake such a good idea.

Yelp
A retro drive-in known for its root beer floats. No indoor seating, but outdoor tables with umbrellas make for a pleasant spot on a nice day. The waitstaff roll around on skates--total 1950s vibes. I tried the marbled rye sandwich and the float, which came in a surprisingly small 12 oz cup. Root beer alone comes in a frosty mug, but floats get a styrofoam cup--bit of a bummer. Friendly staff, convenient parking, and a fun throwback experience. Definitely stop by for the float if you're in town.

Yelp
We stopped by while in town for the EAA (experimental aircraft association) show. The restaurant is a historic spot (since 1948) just 10-15 minutes from the airport, and even with the busy crowd, service was quick and friendly. We ordered the jumbo perch basket and a root beer float. The food came out fast, but the perch was dry and bland (terrible breading), and the rest of the meal was just okay for the price. The root beer float was good but nothing memorable. My soda wasn't full and they didn't even do refills. They are a picnic area with several benches and a pretty clean bathroom. Glad we tried this classic drive-in, but probably wouldn't go out of our way to return.

Yelp
Meh. We were visiting Appleton and wanted to stop here on the way home. I had seen on Facebook that they had the best cheese curds. It was not worth going out of the way. Curds were okay. Not special. Wanted to go to the window to order since we're not ordering much. No go. We were told by the carhop to go back to our car. She would bring it. I really did not want to pay a tip on cheese curds. Parking lot is small. Plus you have to eat in the car. No seating. I would not return. What more can I say?

Yelp
Visiting Osh Kosh. Drive up ice cream shoppe. Can only attest to the roller girls service and the root beer. Both were great! We had root beer floats and the next day came back and bought a gallon of fountain root beer to go. Service was spot on as well. We did not try any food, only ice cream and root beer. We will be back next year!

Yelp
They aren'r open until 9pm, they close at 8pm. I just pulled up at 8:10pm and they refused to serve me. I drove an hour to check this place out because it said 9pm on here. I would do zero stars if I could.

Yelp
Old school drive in spot - an icon in Oshkosh. They have a full menu but are really known for their draft root beer. I can confirm that it is fantastic. You can order and eat from your car or at one of their patio tables. The waiters will ride over on their roller skates to serve you. It's such a fun spot to visit!

Yelp
The root beer is so delicious! We got deep fried chicken sandwiches with pickles and cheese curds with sweet baby rays bbq sauce. The chicken had great crunch and was hot and fresh. Ordering online was super easy for pick up & saved me some time.

Holly G.

Yelp
Everyone is right about this place! Just go! We had malts and burgers and the chicken sandwich (grilled) was really good too.

Charlie M.

Yelp
Must do! Fantastic root beer - the real thing made right here. Enjoyed the food and of course the ice cream. We sat at the counter and watched the amazing hard working staff. Trevor made the experience and about 300 shakes while we enjoyed the interchange. You were great Trevor! In the for airshow and we'll be back again!

James S.

Yelp
First time visiting, waited for 35 minutes at an outside table! Sign said press button for service, tried 4 times, girl on skates came over to a table that came after us and waited on them first! We had 3 hungry kids! Absolutely no service, the girl didn't even respond to our request to order! We finally left! Owner better figure it out! Will never come back!!!

Yelp
I love the concept of the drive-in restaurant. They were born in a time where Americans were in love with their cars and the lure of the open highway. A drive-in restaurant is pure Americana, perhaps a glimpse into America's past, of simpler yesterdays and dare I say happier and simpler times. Ardy and Ed's Drive-In has been a staple in this community since 1948. They offer a pretty solid menu filled with selections such as burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, meal baskets, etc., all to be washed down with their famous root beer. The food here is simple, but good. Prices are decent. Ardy and Ed's Drive-In has been around for a long time and fed generations of this community, kids grew, took their kids, became grandparents, took their grandkids just for the cycle to be repeated. The fact that thus business has been around over seventy years speaks volumes about this landmark restaurant. I wouod definitely recommend this establishment.

Yelp
I went with a few friends when we were visiting OshKosh. We ordered online ahead of time because we thought we were in a rush. The website said it would take 30 minutes to do a takeout order. We ordered online 40 minutes in advance. When we arrived we realized we had time and decided to eat there. The food wasn't ready. So we asked the waitress about our orders. She said she'd get back to me - she never did. She skated around and helped other people (which is fine) but never said anything about how long our order would take or if it was even close to be ready. So we sat down at the picnic area and waited. The amount of yellow jackets that were in the area was dangerous. When we got our food it was almost to dangerous to eat outside! We waited another 15 minutes and still had heard nothing. Someone in our party (3 adults 1 child) decided to go up and ask. The waitress was said it's not ready. Then one of the cooks said it's right here. The waitress grabbed the food and took off on her skates and delivered it. We ordered 3 Chicago dogs and 1 BBQ sandwich. The BBQ sandwich was a Sloppy Joe which they sell. When we asked them about it they said that's our BBQ. It was missing cheese and adding "The Works" is just the three condiments (ketchup, mustard, and onions). The hotdogs were ok but super small and the kids hotdog is the same size as the adult hotdogs. I'd say save your money and get a hotdog and drink at Costco. We didn't have dessert but they looked really good. It was a cute little restaurant but maybe we just went on a bad night? Grumpy waitstaff, nice cooks, and nice little restaurant. The fries were good. Can't really say anything else nice about our experience.

Yelp
Highly recommend the super burger although I didn't order it. The root beer is what they are known for and it was extra vanilla flavor.

Yelp
Tasty fries and ambiance is spades! Car hops on roller skates with oldies wafting through the parking lot is hard to beat. Open since 1948, this place has a lot of good reasons it's been open for seventy years. The burger was not my favorite as far as drive-in burgers go. I went with the Super Burger, their self-proclaimed best burger. It's a huge steak roll with a thick burger, cheddar, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and a special sauce. It was a good burger, but it was just a little too fancy. My mistake for not just ordering the simplest cheeseburger, but I thought I should give their signature dish a try. I also wasn't personally a fan of the larger grind of the meat; there were some large chunks of fat that I ended up picking out of the patty and chucking out the window for the birds. The fries, however, were on point for my tastes. Crinkle cut, super crispy outsides with tender middles, and a family order was more than enough for my boyfriend and I to share with the huge burgers. We had already stopped elsewhere for root beer floats, so I sadly didn't get to try their house-brewed soda. The marshmallow malt also caught my eye, so I think a future visit is definitely in order. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area, but look past the signature dishes if you're interested in a more retro food experience!

Yelp
This place was here when my Dad went to College, it was always a favorite while I attended UW-Oshkosh and now I'm have visited when my son went to school here. 3 generations of great Root Beer! Ardy & Es's is my favorite ice cream stand I've been to. Most likely because I like Root Beer more than ice cream. Something about a icy mug on a warm day is so refreshing! It's also a lot of fun watching the roller skating waitresses fly round from car to car. Not a place to go if you are in a rush. Sit back, relax and drink your (root) beer.

Yelp
I saw this old school looking drive in and it was a nice summer day so I thought I would stop for a ice cream cone, wrong. This was like a 50s style place where the young ladies are in black skirts and white shirts running around on roller skates to and from your car. Cool right. I pulled in and a young woman was at my window in about two minutes which was cool and right away she says the food is currently having a forty minute wait times and I say great because I just want a cold treat. Wrong she explains that it currently could take 20 minutes for my cold treat so I tell her I'm not waiting 20 minutes for an ice cream cone, why would a cold treat take 20 minutes. Realistically it's just fast food and 40 minutes for a burger and 20 minutes for ice cream is just unacceptable in today's day and age. Reply to the the business. Yes it was the EAA weekend. Three young ladies were standing in front of the window as long as I was there and I can't get an ice cream cone in under 20 minutes. If you know this is your busiest time than maybe you should separate the food from the ice creme which is ready to go with no cooking. Maybe you could split off a small part of the staff to just work the lot just for the cold treats. I just think it could have been handled better like I think I can sneak a cone in real quick since I'm just standing at the window waiting for other people's food that I know is going to take a while.

Yelp
Chicago dog was good but they used pickle relish vice the neon green relish. Cheeseburger was neither bad nor good. Rootbeer was very good. While this is a "fast food" place they're not real "fast."

Sylvia T.

Yelp
Eating at Ardy and Ed's is a time travel food experience to the 1950's complete with a car hop on roller skates. Our server was fast and efficient. She brought our food to the car and hung the tray on the window. The food was delicious. The root beer float was the perfect temperature as root beer ice crystals formed. Definitely on the list of top 10 diners in the Midwest.

Yelp
I live in Milwaukee and have been to ardy and Edds numerous times over the last decade and have enjoyed every bit. Yesterday was no different. Had a double tall boy (the best burger on the menu), onion rings, which were immaculate, their famous root beer and fried mushrooms... easily the worst part of my meal. I have had the mushrooms many times before but yesterday was different... I HATED the batter! Mushy, thick, and had a horrible aftertaste. I don't know for sure, but I feel like they used to use the onion ring batter for those too, but I guess that's a thing of the past. I will continue to come here for the excellent service, views, and overall great food, however, I may need to wait a bit before ordering the fried mushrooms.

Yelp
Step back in time. To a simpler time. Fun music plays over head while car hops come to your window in roller skates to take your order. Root beer is made by them and is the better than A&W or Barq's. I brought home a gallon jug! Food is quick easy and yummy. Prices are good. You can also get out of your car and sit at picnic tables or go inside and sit at a tiny counter and watch all the action. I go as often as I can!

Yelp
It causes me great sadness to write this. I am a lifelong, HUGE fan of Ardy & Ed's (like many Oshkosh natives). I currently live out of state so whenever I go back one of my first stops is to Ardy & Ed's for lunch. I have debated writing this review since my visit with my entire family in late April (2021), but my parents recently went back for lunch and said that they will also not be going back. The food is NOT the same as it used to be. When I went, the root beer tasted HORRIBLE and was so watery. I called after my trip to find that the root beer machine had not been working, but I'm not sure why it was sold to us this way. Each person in my family ordered a different lunch and we were all disappointed with what we had. When my parents went about two weeks ago the root beer machine was still down and they told me they were offered Mug root beer instead... I laughed when they said this because my first thoughts were "that is not even a good-tasting root beer!" and also "why would they at least not offer Sprecher (local to WI), A&W (CLASSIC), or something that tastes somewhat similar to A&E's like Barq's?" I am so torn between visiting the next time I am there to see if anything has improved or just letting my memories of this place be memories and not bothering anymore. My parents have already stated that they will not be going again, and they live right around the corner! I hope the new owners decide to revert back to the old ways for this one... people don't go to Ardy & Ed's to try something new/different. :*(

Yelp
waited 30 mins and didn't get food game back and got my food so i'm semi happy. glad they could make it work out.

Yelp
We went to lunch today. We were with four other couples. Two of the couples got their first in a timely manner. We, the other two couples, got our food 50 minutes later. When we finally asked about our order, we were told it was sitting waiting on our drinks!!! We asked that our food be served and they could bring our drinks when they were ready. Of course our food was ice cold!! I know everyone is short on help but this was ridiculous!! We'll definitely think twice about going back. Very disappointed
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
I love this place, food is good and ambiance is, well, genuine by my opinion!! Always try and stop by when I'm in town!

Yelp
What a fun place to stop and get a bite to eat. By now you should know I really enjoy the old classics. This place is definitely one of them. It first opened in the 1940's as an a&w. Years later they went independent. The place super clean and looks very freash. They have a huge menu with all the things you would expect and a few things you might not. You feel like you just pulled into 1957 with the oldies music playing and of course a roller skating car hop. Had the fish and chips with a black cow. Everything was great. There were even a few classic cars there. It doesn't get much better. A must do place.

Yelp
Heard that this place the food is pretty good. Decided to try it. Parked and the server girl came. Told her that this is our first time. She just smile, give the limited flyer, and said she'll be back to take orders. Waited for 30 minutes, nothing. I decided to look at the second flyer that she put it on my windshield. Stated " flash lights when ready". If I haven't decided to leave after 30 minutes of silence, I wouldn't of known that I have to flash my lights to gain some attention. Wasted some time there waiting. Decided to go eat elsewhere. Might come back, slight chance of that though.

David J.

Yelp
Stopped in for a Shake and wasn't disappointed. Like jumping back into the past. Shakes are delicious and carhops made the experience over the top. Definitely recommend stopping here if you have a chance.

Mark D.

Yelp
We've been going here for many years, but sadly it has gone downhill since the previous owners sold it. We used to enjoy occasionally sitting inside, but apparently they don't want anyone to sit inside, as the last 2 times we tried going in, the door was locked and there were clothes laying on the counter. Carhops on roller skates - many times they are just walking around. Root beer used to be really good and served in frosty mugs - not anymore, tastes like regular root beer you can get at any fast food restaurant and served in foam glasses. Food comes out in a bag when it used to come out on a tray that hung on your window. Ice cream used to be a favorite, but now it is soft and mushy like custard is served. It's the little things that made us come back - we used to stop in a couple of times a week, but now once or twice a month, as it isn't that special any more.
google avatar

Yelp
A little piece of the past!! Yes they are working through the pandemic like everyone else. Friendly service and smiles. Yes you can see it in their masks! I love this step back into the 50s looking drive in. Great Perch basket, onion rings are awesome. Try a shake for dessert you won't regret it!! I'll be back!!

Yelp
My wife heard about this place on The Cabin Discovery Wisconsin podcast. I am so glad she did. It is AMAZING!!!! It's an old time drive in with carhops on roller skates. The food is cheap and the homemade root beer is yummy. Next time we will be trying a homemade shake. It is across the road from lake Winnebago so if you park right you have a great view. We will be back!!!
google avatar

Tim B.

Yelp
This place defines drive-in americana, 'nuff said. From the girls in skirts on roller skates, to the homemade rootbeer (AMAZING!!), to the malts, and, and, and... Look, I could go on an on about how this place is one of my favorite things about Oshkosh, but you'd stop reading before I could finish. I've been coming here for two decades every time I'm in town for the EAA airshow. And now that I live in-state, this place is reason enough to make a significant detour while passing by. Trust me, if you're driving by on US-41, take some time to roll the clock back to a simpler era.

Jimerjam F.

Yelp
Best root beer I've ever had, sloppy joe was great, menu was large and diverse. Good things come to those who wait, as when I was there the place was so inflated with customers that I was in there an hour. Totally worth it though. When coming on weekdays, bring a book.
google avatar

Phelisha C.

Yelp
This was my 1st time and was truly happy with the young ladies customer service. The food was great and the root beer float was AMAZING. I love the ole school feel and of a diner. Can't wait to visit again. The mozzarella logs was so good and seasoned just right.
google avatar

Mark K.

Yelp
A blast from the past, as they say. I go for the root beer and the cheese curds. The root beer is sweeter than some, and sweeter than some might like, but darn good. The cheese curds- pretty good, and pure Wisconsin. The other menu items are decent but not great, but the atmosphere it amazing. Girls on roller skates, cool cars if you're lucky, neon lights, lakeside- what's not to like? Is it worth a special trip? Maybe not. But if you're on Rt. 41 anyway, or of course in town for EAA, you oughta try it.
google avatar

Joel S.

Yelp
Excellent old school car-hop drive in. Root beer in a frosted mug, no kidding. The service was fast and very courteous. There is plenty of parking and a few counter seats inside and picnic table at the back of the lot. The food was great. Really enjoy the seeded buns for the ground sirloin sandwich. Perfectly done and pretty quick service. Try the fries with tartar!

Yelp
Server roll up in roller skates. Very cute!!! We just stopped in for a root beer. They have have all the old favorites, root beer floats etc...

Yelp
Best place to grab a bite in OshKosh! Full of 50s nostalgia, and just good quality food. And everyone is so friendly.. Watch for the girls on their skates. Say hello to Steve who is the cog that makes it all work. Save room for the great Cedarcrest ice cream and have a homemade root beer!!

Robert P.

Yelp
Great place, good food, great root beer

Richard K.

Yelp
It took 25 minutes for someone to take our order, 35 minutes to get the meal. The onion rings were barely luke warm. We asked for a "Here" order and got a "to go" instead. Now the Strawberry shake was great! Burgers were just OK. We asked for the works and there, apparently the works is Ketchup, mustard and onions only.. This was our first time there and I give each place 2 times before I won't go back. Strike 1!

Adam P.

Yelp
This place is amazing. We only get to come here during AirVenture. The hamburger and crinkle cut fries are the best. Then, it's not complete without the Root Beer. If you go before dinner, you can avoid the crowd. Inside, they have a few stools if it's just you coming in. Steve is very nice and personable.

Yelp
Great authentic local drive in! The servers wear roller skates which is fun and enhances the drive in experience. You can tell this place has been around forever and is loved my the locals. I love drive ins and good burgers, and this place was up to par. We had burgers with fried onions, and they were great. Very juicy, flavorful burger patty. The special sauce was great- like a mix of ketchup, mustard, mayo. And the fried onions were a perfect addition to a sesame seed bun. We had the criss-cut fries which are homemade waffle fries. Delicious! We took the waitress' recommendation and tried them with the sour cream. Loved it! Would recommend the sour cream with the fries. The root beer was simply amazing. We've been to plenty of Wisconsin drive ins with homemade root beer, and this is one of the best hands down! There is a something special about the root beer beer, it has more vanilla flavor and is so creamy. It's so good. The desserts are also great. We tried the turtle sundae which was listed on the menu as the best in the area. I definitely believe that because it was ridiculously good and we demolished it. It's made with cedar crest ice cream so of course it has a great base. But the roasted pecans almost taste candied (they might be?) they are so good. Love this place! Nothing bad to say.
google avatar

Lily M.

Yelp
Standard Burger joint fare. I ordered a bacon cheese burger and fries which were OK. I was hoping the burgers would be mind blowing but I hear this is the spot for Root Beer floats and fried cheese curds. I'll try out the RBF before I leave Wisco and re-review.

Yelp
This place runs in my blood. Seriously. My dad was the soda jerk and my mom was a car hop - and my grandpa sold ice cream to them. In fact my sloppy joe recipe is from this kitchen - because my mom would make it back in 1963. My childhood is filled with memories of this place - usually my grandpa would save this delivery stop for when we were in town - then we would have to get a burger! Fried onions. Extra tartar sauce for the fries. Chocolate Malt. I'm giving it only 4 stars, because I have had better burgers - but this place is has the whole package. Perfect stop for those looking for a good burger in an atmosphere that reminds them of yesteryear.
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
This is a neat place to stop and have a burger. It is an authentic 1950's car hop that is a leftover from a bygone era. The home made draft root beer is very good and makes excellent floats. The burgers and fries are also good. I am in town every year for EAA AirVenture, and usually wind up eating here at least two or three times. We travel with two dogs and they like the free dog treat that they always get as much as the burger and fries that they mooch from us.

Yelp
Ardy & Ed's is a great old school drive in just off the lake in Oshkosh. There's a tiny 5-seat counter inside, 6-odd picnic tables with umbrellas out back, and numerous spots the, well, drive-in and get service. There is what appears to be a large public dock across the street, so I imagine you could boat in and walk over if you liked. A cadre of carhops on roller skates provide waitress duties. I was there on a summer Thursday halfway through long motorcycle ride. After considering a picnic table out back, I decided to avoid the kids and headed inside. My order was a frosted mug of root beer, a double burger with lettuce and grilled onions, and a small order of french fries. Ardy herself served me at the counter, which was a bit of a shock! In order, the root beer was bracing and not too sweet; I definitely would recommend it. The burger was legit and built very nicely, from the bottom up: bun bottom, shredded lettuce, burger patty, grilled onions, burger patty, sesame seed bun top. Sounds simple but I wish more places would do it this way as all the toppings stayed put and I got an equal amount in each bite. Fries were crinkle cut but nice and well-done, crisp and fresh. I recommend you get a little of their citrus-y tartar sauce to dip the fries in. Everyone was very nice and the service was excellent. Not lightning fast but that lets you know things are made to order. The kitchen was calm despite the heavy lunch load. Here's the big kicker though: everything was clean, and I mean CLEAN. Uniforms were clean, hats were on, pleated skirts on the carhops were pressed, there wasn't a pebble in the parking lot, tables were spotless...I mean it was CLEAN. That's impressive and really shows their attention to detail. When I pass back through Oshkosh, I'll certainly stop again. I recommend Ardy & Ed's without reservation.

Yelp
Hmmm. The boyfriend and I have been here twice now, once for lunch and once for their classic car night, and I feel vaguely...uninspired by the whole thing. Now don't get me wrong, the food is just fine. If you want a nice greasy burger, fries, onion rings, etc., this is not a bad spot at all. The girls on skates make it a little different than just going to Dairy Queen, and the root beer floats are quite tasty. However, the method of service means that you have to ask for absolutely everything you need, from ketchup to extra napkins, and I really don't like ending up with crumbs in my car, which is pretty unavoidable. Plus, unless it's just inflation, the prices seem a bit steep. A couple of burgers, an order of fries, and a milkshake ran us $18 plus tip, and left me missing Five Guys. We were tempted back by a recent classic car night, hosted by some oldies radio station, and that was just a crowd of people, cars, and music turned up way too loud, ending with some lame prizes being handed out on the basis of, well, not much really. I think this is one of those places that you go to once or twice, and then only return with visitors from out of town for the novelty factor.

Yelp
Holy delicious root beer! The root beer is definitely the standout here. We ordered burgers, a coney dog, fries, and cheese curds too and found them all good but nothing special.

Yelp
Been about twenty years since I was last here. Just a fun place to go and the food is good. Good have a root beer float, of course.

Yelp
I have been going here since I was a kid. Old fashioned drive in. The root beer floats are to die for. The rest of the food is Oshkosh standard but the old time feels raises its waiting in my eyes. This is defiantly a place I would take my nephews and tells stories of past visits.
