My first visit and I must say that the selection is great. Taste testing is welcome and delightful. I had lemon scoop and a strawberry scoop in a cone. Good creamy texture with good taste. Not overpowering with sugar but smooth and soulful. I recommend the waffle cone. Thanks.

The ice cream here is excellent — they offer a great mix of familiar flavors and creative originals, plus sorbets for those who want something lighter. My wife’s favorite is the watermelon sorbet, and it never disappoints. The downsides are customer service, consistency, and communication. Some days the staff are friendly and helpful, while other times they seem unhappy to be there. On one visit, a young man was openly commenting to a coworker about what tips customers left, which felt unprofessional. We’ve also had an order of pints to-go come out wrong before, and the amount you get can be inconsistent from one visit to the next. Another challenge is that they don’t have a website, so the only way to know which flavors are available that day is by checking social media posts. It works, but it’s not always the most convenient for customers. That said, the ice cream itself is delicious and keeps us coming back. With more consistent service, attention to detail, and a better way to share their flavor list, this could easily be a 5-star spot.

Hands down the BEST ice cream spot around! I absolutely love this place. The staff is always friendly, the place is super clean, and the ice cream? Unmatched. They have so many fun flavors, and everything tastes homemade and fresh. It’s the kind of spot that instantly makes your day better. Whether I’m grabbing something quick for myself or bringing the kids for a treat, it never disappoints. Can’t recommend them enough!

Wonderful place to take all the grandkids on a hot summer day! They let you sample all the unique flavors before you decide on which delicious decadent flavor you will chose:) Of course, the kids picked two flavors and the waffle cone, lol... Highly recommend!

AMAAAAZING ice cream!! I had Saigon cinnamon snickerdoodle and it was probably the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted. I also sampled the caramelized banana and it was good too. Can’t wait to go back and try more flavors!!

My son and I visited here yesterday. It was our first time and I definitely will be back. My son got mint chip in a waffle bowl and I got their Snickerdoodle ice cream. Both flavors were amazing and the waffle bowl was sooo good!

Clean , Friendly , fast , good variety and wonderful flavors . Tried cookies and cream and Dominks Bourbon butter pecan - very surprised and pleased . Mom got mint chocolate chip and dutch chocolate and enjoyed the mint chocolate chip best . Now we know why this place is so popular - price was very reasonable as well . Will be back

Even though this whole place from top to bottom is magical...I'm going to drop 5 stars off for their hard work each day that is put into this product. All of these sweet treats are made from scratch which is what makes the freshness and taste so amazing. Order the blue berry cobbler in a waffle bowl...when I say get there and to get this...do it quick bc it is a seasonal flavor. The staff behind the counter can tell you their favorites and what is in each flavor. Super knowledgeable staff that are friendly and make the whole visit so inviting. Make sure to stop in to try out this place if you are ever in Hernando!

Blackberry Goat Cheese is back for 2025 ! It's our annual tradition every year to visit Area 51!

Area 51 has incredible ice cream. The staff is friendly and encouraged me to try a few flavors so I would have the best ice cream for me. I tried their hot toddy ice cream, the lemon icebox, the peanut butter and the Old Dominic Bourbon Butter Pecan and my favorite was the butter Pecan. I got two scoops and the cost was just over seven dollars. The place had a cool vibe tying in aliens and again, the staff were incredibly outgoing. I would definitely recommend Area 51 Ice Cream and when I am back in the Hernando, Mississippi area, I will definitely come back here. Overall, I have to give Area 51 Ice Cream five stars and applaud Area 51 Ice Cream for bringing great ice cream to Hernando, Mississippi. One of the favorite ice cream joints I tried on my cross country trip. So many flavors that are done really well. Loved the Bourbon Salted Pecan, creamy and such a rich flavor. Savored it all and so much salty, sweet flavor. The Mexican Hot Chocolate was also fantastic and they didn't shortsell the spice level. A nice spicy kick with the cream chocolate. Delicious! Also love the store theme and name, well done!

Area 51 is out of this world ice cream. Plenty of seating. Always have pints to go. Staff cheerful and will let customers sample flavors.

This is the best ice cream place I've ever been to, we go here at least once a month. Their ice cream is very thick and creamy and the flavors are amazing, and sometimes unique. Any salted flavor, coconut, peanut butter, and pumpkin are the best. The mint chocolate chip, and chocolate cookies and cream are the only flavors I've gotten that I thought were just good, and not amazing, I won't get them again. Also, Their chocolate ice cream isn't very chocolatey, but other than that, amazing. The service is ok, not super outgoing, but still good, you can sample any flavor you want.

Had a good friend bring us some Bourbon Praline ice cream, so delicious! Can't wait to go back and try some other flavors.

Hubbs and I stopped by here when we were in the area. It was pretty cool and had some unique flavors! It seems like they make everything from scratch which is awesome. I didn't like the balsamic strawberry because it had a weird after taste but I did like the other strawberry flavors we got. I really liked the Mexican Hot Chocolate because it has a spicy kick to it! Hubby wasn't expecting that so he wasn't as big of a fan. I definitely recommend getting a second flavor to balance it out a little. This place is pretty good. I've driven by Area 51 a few times and on Father's Day after dinner we decided to try it. I'm happy we did. As soon as you walk in the door you're greeted with the scents of cream, butter and sweats. There were a few unique flavors and seasonal favorites available. I enjoyed the Blueberry Goat Cheese or something like that...it's was the bomb. I think I heard it's a number one seller. My waitress at ACs (where we went for Father's Day dinner) recommended it. The staff was friendly and efficient. There was no waiting around. :-). I like that. Additionally, the dining area was clean and there was plenty of room between tables. Overall, the ice cream was delicious. The place was clean. The staff was friendly. What more can you ask for.

We try to stop here when traveling, as their name implies, this surely has the most eclectic slate of flavors you'll find anywhere. They specialize in small batches, and all are hand made. That's the good. The bad is the flavors are so 'different', you may find it hard to find one appealing to you. Plum sorbet? Bourbon flavored butter pecan?

They have a nice selection of gourmet ice creams. It's a nice environment, parking is convenient. I got a taste of my wife's double dip. She had a scoop of brown sugar coconut and a scoop of salted caramel. It almost made me give up my diet. Sorry no pictures... the ice cream didn't stand a chance. If you are craving ice cream give stop in.

This place is fancy but the flavors are just ok. It was edible but not delightful. My wife liked hers but I wasn't that impressed.

I know Mississippi isn't technically Memphis and is definitely not Tipton county but I've been here twice and they have yet to disappoint, I just keep coming back. I really loved how during my most recent visit they put our requested flavors in pints and let us take waffle bowls home. The staff was so helpful and the ice cream has a unique stretchy texture. The name just gives the place a fun ambiance and atmosphere.

Out of all of the places in Hernando this is my kids go to for dessert! Our favorite flavors are peanut butter, Nutella, blackberry goat cheese, blueberry cobbler, pumpkin, and sweet cream!

This is hands-down, the best ice cream in Hernando in my opinion. You can also get ice cream not just in scoops or on a Cone but you can also get it to go in a pint.

Area51in Hernando, Ms is top notch! The ice cream is head and shoulders over your usual go to shops and drive throughs. They make their ice cream in small batches and it is the best!!! Not sure what the buzz about this place is. Parking is a pain, the staff were rude while our kids picked from the odd flavors.

My husband is currently working in the area, and I am here visiting from Phoenix as we are being relocated here by my husband's company. We stopped by tonight and were happy to find an ice cream place that reminded us of home. The women who were working behind the counter were beyond helpful and extremely friendly. We sampled a few flavors and ended up getting the Salted Oreo, Caramelized Banana, and Snickerdoodle. All three were creamy and delicious. We will definitely be returning after we move to the area.

It is OUT OF THIS WORLD! Definitely one of the better locally owned ice cream/sweet shops I have been to. The flavors change occasionally opening a new door to new and delicious flavors made locally. You will not want to pass this place up when driving through Hernando. Easily accessible right off off of I-55 and Hwy 51 as well. Stop by and try some highly classified flavors and treats at Area 51!

This place was delicious. I had the lemon ice box, the rest of my gang had the bourbon buttered pecan, durch chocolate, vanilla, and cookies and cream. Great service too by the very polite young gentleman.

Heck yeah! The closest you'll get to gelato in this area. All homemade stuff with a very creative and changing selection of flavors. Great service too! The only suggestion I have to the owners is to stop the stinginess with napkins. I always have to ask the staff for some. Unnecessary step.

I have been going to Area 51 ice cream for years now (since they first opened), and the quality has never seemed to diminish. The ice cream is a perfect mix of creamy and fluffy, and there is a great mix of flavor options. There is usually only 1-2 vegan/dairy free flavors every day. I would recommend checking out their Facebook in advance to see what the daily flavors are.

Delicious ice cream, lots of yummy flavors, locally sourced ingredients. Also, root beer floats, milkshakes, and much more. Indoor and outdoor seating but parking can be an issue.

Hands down one of the best ice cream parlors ever. Family owned and operated. Area 51 has a wide range of creamy, dreamy options. They use local products when available and offer up some tasty creations. Year round staples like Lemon Ice Box, Saigon Cinnamon Snickerdoodle, Bourbon Pecan, to name a few. Some of my favorite seasonal offerings are the Strawberry Buttermilk, Strawberry Balsamic, Blackberry Goat cheese (my favorite, I think), Blueberry Cobbler Crunch to name a few. Hernando is truly blessed to have such a gem right in the middle of our town. Their wait staff is amazing. Always friendly and willing to allow you to taste all the new offerings to see if you might be finding your next new favorite. Go enjoy, you won't be disappointed.

I've been visiting the Hernando location, whenever I'm in the area. I love the cookies and cream ice cream! I'd love for it to hit the grocery stores here. If you've been wondering about their ice cream STOP and hit them up! You won't regret it!!

More than ice cream is cool here. You're hip and you're loving your best life if you go to this joint. At least that's how all my friends explain it. I must have shown up on the wrong day. Or worse, I'm not hip and I missed my best life? I never was cool. Neither was "experience" at Area 51. Chewy and trendy. That's how I'd describe the ice cream. It literally was chewy, like bubble gum. I tried peanut butter and had to chew it to get it down. I know what you're saying, "It's impossible for cool cream to have produced anything less than heavenly bliss!" I know, right? So I tried another flavor. The mint chocolate chip was less chewy, but still chewy. I swore I blew a bubble once during that "ice dream experience". The establishment is trendy...so trendy that hip Hernando moms can go in and photo their kids blowing bubbles...as they chew their ice cream. That's what everyone did the day I was there. They offer nothing for the "ice gum", just the cream and a load of your cash. I asked Princess Leia behind the counter if they had chocolate syrup or something to put on the space gum. She just looked at me and said, "I don't know what you're talking about. I'm a member of the Imperial Senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderan!" All I can say is, that ice cream simply "aren't the droids I'm looking for!" So, if that's your thing, then chewy away my friend. Chewy away.

The ice cream here is out of this world! Lol. I ordered cookies and cream and there was ample cookie bits. Husband ordered caramelized banana and if you are a banana fan like he is - you'd love it! Both servings were rich and creamy! Highly recommend and worth getting off the interstate for! (The music was a little loud for us older folks but it was nice outside, comfy chairs and clean tables available).

Awesome in house made ice cream, vast flavor selection, great outdoor seating area, and fun design/decor. Definitely recommend adding the waffle cone bowl with your scoops. We had cookies n cream, caramelized banana, and carrot cake and all were excellent. We appreciated them being one of the few places in town where appropriate COVID precautions were in place for the staff. Friendly team members on a busy Friday evening were happy to take the extra time to help accommodate our child with a severe nut allergy. Would love to have an Area 51 in our hometown of STL!

They actually make every delicious flavor in house with real ingredients. The mocha brownie is made with brownies made right in store. A great ice cream shop and the chocolate chip cookies are deliciously chewy. My favorite is the coconut brown sugar...slurp! The owners are very welcoming and friendly. They were a joy to chat with. This place is worth the drive down to Hernando.
