"When the currently under-construction Edgewater Public Market opens sometime this fall, Arepas House will be among its vendors. Chef and owner Jorge Dominguez said the 3.5-year-old food truck’s new stall space inside the market will offer a menu of arepas and other Venezuelan offerings that will go beyond what he was able to offer in the food truck. The Arepas House stall will open with the market, which is currently shooting to debut on or around Sept. 15. That menu will include a new line of gourmet arepas made with salmon and other high-quality ingredients that Dominguez says are basically impossible to find in Venezuela but coveted by Denver customers. The new stall will also stock imported Venezuelan soft drinks such as Malta, a carbonated drink made with barley, hops and water that have not been fermented and has a sweet, mollasses-like taste and Frescolita, a red soda with a cream soda-like taste. The Edgewater Arepas House will also sell a large variety of candies imported from Venezuela. Of course, the new stall will continue to offer the standard chicken, beef, chicken salad and vegetarian arepas currently available on the truck, plus the Patacone, a beef and coleslaw sandwich made with two fried plaintain slices instead of bread. It is also adding two new vegan arepas to its menu, Dominguez said. But while Dominguez is now turning his attention to the new stall, he’s not abandoning the food truck, which he says will continue to show up at events around town such as Civic Center Eats and the Pearl Street Farmer’s Market." - Paul Albani-Burgio

Arepas House is hands down my favorite arepa spot in the Denver area. Located inside Edgewater Public Market, this Venezuelan eatery serves bold, comforting flavors that hit every time. I tried the spicy chicken arepa (amazing heat + guasacaca sauce!), pabellón arepa, taqueños (so gooey and crisp), cachapa (my new obsession), plantains with cheese, and the loaded petacón sandwich. Everything was delicious and super flavorful. The portions are generous, the service is friendly, and the vibe is casual and welcoming. If you’re looking for authentic Latin food in Denver, this is a must-visit.

Google
We finally made it to this place. The arepas had really good flavor and good size for the price. I got full with just one, but I think the only thing I did not like was that it was carbs over carbs, since it had the black beans, and the fried plantain. My stomach felt it was too much at first, when I first ate it. The refreshing drinks are also a must try. Maybe next time I will share it with someone else.

Google
love love love this place! portions are pretty large and food is always fresh and delicious. definitely my favorite spot in edgewater public market. vegan options are clearly marked.

Google
Quick service and impressive arepa! Similar to a gordita but bigger and stuffed with Venezuelan typical ingredients. 1st one and all the fillings were great the meat was seasoned well.

If you're looking for an authentic Venezuelan dining experience with top-notch service, look no further! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. The service was incredibly fast without sacrificing quality. Our orders arrived quickly, and everything was fresh and delicious. The staff was not only efficient but also genuinely kind and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely amazing! The arepas were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the cachapas were sweet and savory. Overall, it is a must-visit. If you want great food, speedy service, and friendly faces, this is the place to be. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
A great place to eat authentic Arepas! Brought back some great memories. Love the combination of flavors for the stuffings. It was worth the wait.

One of my favs to eat at, at Edgewater market. Super friendly customer service and the food is so yummmyyyy

First, I truly believe that food can be an emissary of culture. I wish the news would highlight this hidden gem and the warmth of the Venezuelan people, whose country and culture are rich and vibrant. With dietary restrictions, I started coming here frequently when I first moved to Denver in 2021. Since then, I’ve brought seven different friends and family members, and for my wife, who is also gluten-free, driving from the foothills to get an arepa has become a weekend tradition. It’s often hard to find places where we can both eat, but whether it’s at Anschutz with their food truck or in person at Arepas House, it continues to be our favorite spot.

Yelp
Ordered take out since we get a deal on Door Dash with our credit card. Arepas are tacos on steroids. So delicious with the sweet surprise of the plantains. We got a side of their yucca fries as well which turned out to be crispy and tasty. With tip the price isn't bad. I love the chicken while my wife prefers the beef. You can't go wrong ordering from them this summer.

Deb B.

Yelp
Located at Edgewater public market the Arepas house is a gem. The public market is a great spot to gather and enjoy great food. Today's pick was the cheese arepa with both sauces. The red being a bit spicer. The gooey deliciousness of the cheese and the texture or the corn outter arepa were a perfect pairing. You self order, easy peasy, and you get a text when you deliciousness is ready! A fun spot, I highly recommend both the public market and the arepas house

Savanna B.

Yelp
I had the vegetarian arepas and my husband had the chicken salad arepas. I wasn't sure what to expect from his but it was surprisingly tasty. My vegetarian arepas was fantastic- huge portion and bursting with fresh flavors. We started with their patacones- (I hunk mozzarella sticks but better) very yummy. My toddler couldn't get enough of the dipping sauce they came with. The only interaction I had was with a touch scree that I placed my order with and paid through. It was easy to navigate and I got a text when our order was ready. They have a nice rooftop patio with a bar truck, but as pets are only allowed downstairs we moved to the downstairs patio.

Natasha M.

Yelp
Delicious arepa from Arepas House in Edgewater Public Market. Ambiance is amazing with something for everyone. Don't sleep on these Venezuelan arepas. Highly recommend you get some extra spicy sauce. I'll take more pictures next time and expand beyond just this one choice: Pabellon (black beans, shredded beef, fried plantains, avocado, cheese and Guasacaca sauce) sooooo good. Service was only docked because you order off of a tablet and there really aren't servers. It is very efficient/easy though!

Deborah M.

Yelp
The kiddo loves pupusas so we decided to give this spot a try! Although very different from pupusas- dare I say a similar vein? He got the plain cheese and I got cheese and bean plus we shared the plantains and cheese breadstick thingys- soo yummy! The bean was a little messy but the flavor was great! Left fully satisfied!

Jen M.

Yelp
I love this place! When here you order through a tablet, making it very easy. The food is fresh and warm. I got the pabellón arepa and cachapa which brought me back home to Venezuela. The employees are generous with the meat and cheese which was the best part. The line wasn't long and the area makes for a perfect date. I can't wait to be back again.

David G.

Yelp
Besides Hugo Chavez and the crazy socialists of Venezuela ( like eating zoo animals proves you have a great economy???) I love Venezuelan food and it's people. Arepas House is just bomb ass....the vegetarian Areapas is perfect even for a carnawhore like me. Sure the shredded beef one is insanely good but for a vegetarian treat the mixture of black beans, sauce, and that warm cornmeal bread is delicous. Loved the tequenos with the thousand island like dipping sauce. Least favorite ( I was probably stuffed by that time ) were the yucca fries...they were so chunky it was not a wonderful thing to eat. If you are feeling crazy try one of their drinks: The malted soft drink is really weird but refreshing and the bubble gum soft drink ( forgot the name) is also something you have never tried before. Def try these guys for something new and unique

Linda K.

Yelp
Delicious! Lots of moist chicken, avocado, delicious sauce (I ordered medium, not very spicy). They give you a fork for good reason- not so easy to pick up with all that delicious filling. Strongly recommend

Abbey L.

Yelp
Wow oh wow. Eat here!! The arepa even with three ingredients was phenomenal. I can't wait to try the other varieties and will definitely be coming back. This food hall is one of the best! It was a good size but would likely need a side if you were super hungry.

Sari L.

Yelp
We came here during a trip to Denver visiting friends. I love arepas so I knew I had to try this place! The line was really long which is always a good sign. I loved the options of arepas they had. I ordered the plantain app and the beef arepa. The plantains were awesome!! We split those and everyone loved them. The beef arepa was so full which was great. The beef and filling of the arepa was delicious, no piece of filling went uneaten. The arepa itself was just ok. I thought it was kind of dry and broke easily. I was a little disappointed in the arepa but everything else was so good.

Gil S.

Yelp
Located inside the Edgewater "food court". Everything I had there was good and the service was good too, nothing to complain about :) I would give this place 5 stars however I did feel that prices are on the high side, but I do feel like this place is between 4 and 5.

Vivian E.

Yelp
I've never had Valenzuelan but this were delicious. You will not be disappointed. We also had a guava and tamarind drinks which was very refreshing.

David C.

Yelp
I've only visited their food truck, but they have a physical location in Edgewater Market as well. The truck has a small menu, but it doesn't matter because everything is good. Of the three main arepa options, I think the beef is my favorite, but depending on my mood I can easily go for any of them. The chicken one has a lot of cheese in it but the meat itself is shredded and seasoned with a great spice blend. The vegetarian arepa, featuring black beans and avocado, also comes in a vegan option if that's a need for you. All come in various spice levels (mild, medium, hot), and plantains make everything better! These arepas are handheld and not complicated, but they are messy, though you won't care when you dive in to one of these flavorful and filling concoctions.

KELLY M.

Yelp
Came back after 6m! The arepas is what attract me. The size of it and flavor are amazing. Chicken is moist and the plantain . World come back for it and recommend friend to visit this place.

Heidi A.

Yelp
How does that old Carl's Jr. commercial go? "If it doesn't get all over the place, it doesn't belong in your face." I think that's it... If I were to rate the "messy" factor of the pabellón arepa I got, I'd say "very." But If I were to rate the taste factor of it, I'd say "extra tasty!" This small restaurant is one of many eateries in the Edgewater Public Market. The food is stellar and the portion size is generous! The pabellón is filled with shredded beef, black beans, plantain, guasaca cheese, cotija cheese, and avocado. It may look small, but man this little package is filled with goodness! The small bowl it's served in really doesn't keep any falling food on the plate. Each bite was filled with meat, they certainly don't skimp. I ordered it medium spicy and I thought it was more mild than medium. Still tasty nonetheless. Highly recommend you come and try a piece of Venezuelan goodness- arepas for the win!

Richard F.

Yelp
The food was decent, but there was a giant piece of plastic crumpled up in there. They seemed nonplussed when I brought it to their attention. WHY IS THERE PLASTIC IN YOUR FOOD?! Take this stuff seriously. You're charging enough to give a shit.

Morgan A.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to come here for quite sometime but the timing didn't work out until I finally saw my opportunity yesterday. I was considering getting a plain cheese arepa since that is what I am familiar with (we had arepas almost every day in Colombia a few year back). My boyfriend talked me into trying the arepa chicken and I'm glad he did. These things are HUGE and they do not skimp on the meat or fillings at all. The plantains inside were so delicious with the shredded chicken. Next time I'd skip the shredded cheese as it was quite messy but I'm not a big shredded cheddar girl to begin with. This place is inside of Edgewater Market which can be quite busy and loud but we were able to find a nice table to enjoy! You order on a tablet and they quickly prepare your order and shoot you a text once it's ready. We used our wait time (which was minimal) to check out some of the other shops in the market.

Sydney B.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. Probably one of the best food stalls in Edgewater Public Market, if not the best. I got the shredded beef Arepa with sauce on the side (wasn't sure of spice level and wanted to be careful). It was freaking delicious; there's a reason there's a long line for this place. The shredded beef was tender and flavorful without any gross fatty bits, the avocado was fresh and soft, the corn meal breading(?) was great, had a nice texture. The sauce on the side was delicious but I didn't really find it spicy. They PACK the toppings in there. You def get your moneys worth. They say to eat it like a sandwich but looking at it I was thinking to myself "how am I going to fit that in my mouth?" spare me the dirty double entendres LOL. Anyway it's delicious, just try it, you won't regret it!

B. E. R.

Yelp
Well staffed at the pick up location, almost over staffed. Too many men in the preparation area running into each other. The food was okay. The Yucca fries were delicious! The actual arepa was okay, but not well put together. All veggies were stuffed at the bottom and not evenly distributed in the pocket. Not sure I will be back or not.

Lianna B.

Yelp
Tried the pabellon arepa and it was so delicious! It came with beef, avocado, cheese, and fried plantains. There was a bit of a line but they were very efficient with service. My only complaint is there's only one piece of fried plantain in it but it is LOADED with cheese and the sauce is incredible. Make sure to grab a napkin because it gets messy. This is a great option for GF individuals because arepas use cornmeal dough and it is plenty filling!

Antoinette P.

Yelp
I love arepas. I didn't enjoy this place. The service was pretty bad. The chicken arepa had a funky taste. I tried to finish it because of hunger but I couldn't stomach it. Didn't feel good about it. I tried for a redo but neither of the guys who saw me said anything to me we when I approached the counter. I waited a minute, maybe two. No attempt was made by either guy to determine why I was there. They both just stared at me. I felt some irritation and annoyance from them both. So, I just left the arepa on the tray and returned it at the pick up counter. Didn't care to get my money back nor try another. Disappointed.

Heather W.

Yelp
YUM, just thinking about the Patacon makes my mouth water! I had my first one (with chicken) and well, now it's my favorite meal I've ever had. Remember the restaurant scene in When Harry Met Sally?...yep, that's what it is like...SO GOOD!! It encompasses all of the most amazing flavors and textures you could ever want. They have a veggie and vegan version, as well. It's a huge portion for me, so it was nice to be able to eat the rest of it for lunch the next day. They had excellent customer service and I was greeted with a smile. I'll try to control my craving and only go once a week...or maybe twice!

Carly W.

Yelp
Holy arepas! Lemme tell you about Arepas House and their super stacked Venezuelan fare! Having tried arepas a couple times in the past, I was excited to see their stall at Edgewater Public Market this past weekend. I knew I had to check out what they were slinging. ++ Wanting something to share with my fellow diners, I opted for an order of plantains with cheese. Having never had plantains before I wasn't sure what to expect. They were perfectly fried up and sweet. The cheese added a little salty flair to the dish. ++ For the main event, I was drooling over the pabellon arepa - black beans, shredded beef, fried plantains, avocado, cheese, guasacaca sauce, and love! So naturally, I ordered this mouthwatering dish. It was HUGE, a little messy, but oh so worth it! There was so much flavor! Everything about Arepas House was wonderfully delicious. I can't wait to come back and try some of their other menu offerings.

Catherine C.

Yelp
I have NEVER had something quite as unique and scrumptious as the Patacon from Arepas House. If you love plantains, then you absolutely must try this dish. It is described as a sandwich made from two slices of fried plantain instead of bread. It's stuffed with shredded chicken and beef, coleslaw, cheese, avocado, tomato and a variety of sauces. The combination of flavors blended so well together. I especially loved the crispiness of the outside sweet plantain and the flavor of the different meats. A few recommendations- definitely come hungry! This meal is BIG, yet I didn't feel stuffed or bloated afterwards. Furthermore, you should eat it all in one sitting so that the fried plantains maintain their crispiness. Another recommendation for this meal is to make sure that you have extra napkins, as you can imagine with so many ingredients and sauces, this meal can get messy. Another plus was that the staff was incredibly kind and patient. They did a good job of answering all of our questions as we sorted through which item to order.

Christopher B.

Yelp
I came with high expectations and they delivered. What I liked about these is that they are not super huge and not overstuffed nor too greasy. I felt like it was the right amount of everything, not salty like others I've had, and the sauces were an excellent complement. I did go with the chicken option but I noticed other options people ordered looked equally delicious to mine.

Jerome L.

Yelp
The arepas here are amazing and this could possibly be the best food stand at the Edgewater marketplace. You absolutely cannot go wrong with an arepa here and this place has a cult following around the community. The arepas are bursting with flavors and the onions and plantains add that perfect sweet and savory taste. I personally prefer the arepas over the plantain sandwich since the plantain serving as the bread substitute with the sandwich is a little too dry for my liking. However, it's still very good!! This place definitely deserves 5 stars! Good job!

Amy C.

Yelp
It was so difficult to decide what tasty item to try at the Edgewater Public Market, but I decided on the Pabellón arepa from Arepas House and it was BOMB! The meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked, the plantains complimented the savory and spicy flavors and the guasacaca sauce was amazing. I definitely made the right choice.

Kelly B.

Yelp
So delicious! Being Colombian , Venezuelan arepas are very close to home. They do them right here && they'll get you through the day. They're not shy of the fillings. The sauces are delicious . The tequeños is the perfect cheese bite!!

Gabriella S.

Yelp
Fried plantains, black beans, avo, and cheese, smothered in some spicy cream sauce -- a delicious and incredibly messy dish to dive into. Loved the easy order system. The yucca fries were also delicious. Large portions, affordable, and inside the market where you can also grab a cocktail or shop for some vintage treasures. One thing missing: they need some hot sauce!

Tiff D.

Yelp
Great flavors and perfect level of spice! Try the juice, delicious! Service was quick!

Karina P.

Yelp
Authentic Venezuelan food! The tequeños and arepas are on point; same goes for the drinks. The only disappointment was the texture of the cachapas but that could be due to the type of corn available which could be a different variety from the maíz criollo used in Venezuela to achieve the right consistency. Ordering can be done at the cash point which is user friendly but if you do happen to interact with the staff they are nice and helpful. Even when busy they have a reasonable wait time to get your food. Love the ambiance of the Edgewater Public Market but know if busy, and you have at least one other person with you, find a place to sit before you go order your food. Patrons are friendly though and will more than likely share table with you.

Emily C.

Yelp
I tried the chicken arepa today for the first time and yummm still 5/5 stars! I'm convinced I could drink the guasacaca sauce with a straw...it's that good!

Symphony N.

Yelp
I have just a plain cheese arepa and it was fantastic. The service was fast, and they were very polite.

Sergio M.

Yelp
Ordered online, never got my food!!! Trued called to no avail, really bad customer service. Literally no effort to help me out

Irene G.

Yelp
Excellent meal/ sandwich! We keep coming back! Love the energy, the flavors (holy cow! The flavors) the meat, cotija, plantain!!! I can't get back there fast enough!!!!! Thank you!!!Pabellon Arepa

Noelle B.

Yelp
A mostly gluten free menu that is full of delicious food!! Love Edgewater Public Market (so cute and fun) and love this spot (yummy and fast)!

Jami W.

Yelp
After a day at a festival on a Sunday, a friend of mine took me to The Edgewater food court. Everything wasn't open but, I'm a huge fan of Arepas so, the choice was easy. I ordered the Queen Arepa which was fantastic--fresh, tasty, oozing with flavor and made to order right there. Much recommended.

Aveeda G.

Yelp
Stopped into Edgewater Public Market and racked my brain for a bit deciding on what to eat before finally choosing Arepas House. I've tried another Arepa spot around town before and was very much unimpressed, so I was a little hesitant. But they were helpful in suggesting the Pabellon - a cute little arepa (ps. an arepa is a Venezuelan bread made of cornmeal) grilled, split open, and stuffed to the gills black beans, fantastically flavored shredded beef, fried plaintains for a little sweet, avocado, cheese, and guasacaca sauce (a savory sauce made with avocado). This little pocket of heaven was SO good. I don't know if I was just hungry or what, but I was super impressed. The food came out so fast and the ladies behind the counter were helpful and uber friendly. Also, love that their menus have pictures, so you know exactly what your delightful little meal is going to look like. And though it looks small, it is the perfect little meal. So many delicious options within Edgewater Public Market, and this one is definitely a solid one.

Elizabeth J.

Yelp
This is my second, no wait... third? I don't know how many times I've been here, but the good news is that it has been consistently delicious every time. If you love plantains, this is your place. I'm a sweet and salty plantain lover and the mixture of piping hot plantains dipped in cotija sends me right over the moon. The shredded chicken with guasacaca sauce is a great accompaniment. Good luck eating the whole thing though I find Venezuelan food to be very filling, decadent and just absolutely delicious.

Natasha G.

Yelp
Delicious areas! So cheesy and nice and hot. Staff is super friendly! Located inside the Public Market which is absolutely beautiful!

Natalie C.

Yelp
It was really hard to find this place. I didn't realize that it was inside the building with a whole bunch of other restaurants because there wasn't a sign for it outside. But it was definitely worth the search. I ordered the chicken salad arepa and the fried yuca and they were both awesome. I ordered ahead and it was ready when I got there. Inside was pretty loud but a cool place to check out.

Christina S.

Yelp
So I've been wanting to try this place since way back when I was a vegetarian and it just never happened...until now. I almost debated getting the vegetarian one for old times sake and then came to my senses. Why would I not get slow cooked marinated beef right? Holy crap, the Pabellon is AHHHHHMAZING. Seriously so good. The meat is so flavorful and tender. Paired with perfectly ripe avocado, black beans, plantains and this sauce. All I can say is oh em gee! I will say the plantain threw me off a bit because it was a bit sweeter (I like them more savory) but I actually ended up embracing the hint of sweet and enjoying it very much. Also don't be scared to go spicy! It gives a perfect kick and is very manageable, even if you have a lower tolerance. I honestly think you weenies can handle it! It's amazingly flavorful! The yucca fries were good too however that sandwich is so massive and filling that you don't need them. I ended up hooking Jäger (dog) up with half. He also enjoyed them! I have a feeling I'm going to be frequenting Arepa House a lot because I am obsessed. Even thought about looking into flights to Venezuela to get more fresh from the source.. I know, I'm a weirdo lol

Cindy L.

Yelp
Costco to return sausage Target, kombucha Christmas tree Danzena Load up the car with clothes horse stuff Pack I ordered the mix sandwich which was a combination of shredded chicken, shredded beef, whatever sauce it was delicious with the plantain's. They have a sign for directions on how to eat it, lol. This is one of the many food trucks inside this market that just opened up in Edgewater, the Edgewater public market. It was great and dog friendly. The people that work there were great and I WOULD go back.

Ethan M.

Yelp
This is probably my favorite non-vegan food truck both for the quality and the price. They've only got one vegan option (aside from the plain black bean 'domino' without cheese) and it is quite satisfying for only $7.50 - one of the cheapest items on the menu. It's their standard arepa sandwich stuffed with black beans, avocado, plantain, lettuce, tomato, and the best vegan mayo I've ever had in my life. It was quite messy though. I find arepas very hard to eat and I had to end up dumping out the contents and just scooping with the bread pocket. The truck is very colorful, artsy, and eye catching. the staff is very friendly as well. If not for being so difficult to consume, I'd give this place 5 stars.

Shannon H.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to check out Edgewater Market for a while, so my fiancé and I decided to head over for lunch not knowing where we wanted to eat- when I saw someone pass by me with this incredibly delicious looking Arepa, I knew that I had to try Arepas House! I got the Pabellon Arepa, which came filled with shredded beef, fried plantains, black beans, avocado, and delicious guasacaca sauce. The flavors were incredible, and they definitely don't skimp on the fillings! I was warned about the spicy-ness of sauce they offer, so I got it on the side just in case... and OMG! It was incredible. It was spicy, but had such an amazing depth of flavor. For those unfamiliar with Aprepas- They originate in South American and Columbian cultures, and consist of a thick maiz 'pancake' split down the middle and filled with untold goodies. Overall, I'm super happy with my experience and will definitely be back! Give it a try!

Den A.

Yelp
Delicious and mouthwatering! You'll never think of a sandwich in the same way again. Drop your PB&Js and make haste!

Kelly M.

Yelp
I really wanted to try this place because I loved arepas when I lived in Venezuela. However, even though they were tasty, the chicken was too salty it was nothing like I remembered. I probably wouldn't go back.

Lauren D.

Yelp
First time trying Arepas House and I was really impressed! I got an order of the fried plantains and cheese, plus the pabellon and everything was just bursting with flavor. Loved the sweet/salty combo of the plantains with cheese and everything inside the arepa was delicious! Especially loved the shredded beef and the guasacaca sauce. You can even pick how spicy you want everything to be. I went mild because I wanted to share with my toddler (who also loved the beef!) but I'll definitely try it spicy next time for myself. It's nice that you get a big ol' portion, but it does make it pretty hard to eat. I ended up using a fork, but that means not getting any of the cornmeal in the bite. Oh well. Can't wait to try some of the other menu options!

Miguel H.

Yelp
Our go to place at Edgewater Public Market. The Pabellon is great! Packed with meat and the corn bread pocket has a good taste while not being crumbly or too dense. Yucca fries are always good as well.

Victoria M.

Yelp
Stumbled across this food truck one day at civic center eats. The prices of the arepas range from $9-$13. Surprisingly I thought the best ones were on the cheaper side! The food isnt pre made- its cooked fresh for when you order. So you have to wait a little bit for your food but not very long. The arepas seem a tad small in size when you first get them but they are PACKED with so much meats and cheeses that you are actually quite full afterwards! Mine was PACKED with so much chicken!!! It was so so tasty!! I'm always a fan of arepas and I'll definitely visit this food truck again!
