The Hottest New Restaurants to Try Around Baltimore

"Farmers market favorite Arepi got its own brick-and-mortar location in Fells Point. Located next to beloved record shop Sound Garden, this Venezuelan eatery is, of course, known for its innovative take on the arepa. Each corn-based envelope is stuffed with ingredients like shredded beef, plantains, mozzarella cheese, and avocado. Open through breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Arepi offers options that make sense any time of day. In fact, the Party Beast (shredded pork, coleslaw, jalapeños, and cheddar cheese) is perfect after a few drinks on Thames Street." - Jess Mayhugh, Tierney Plumb

Google
First time visiting this Venezuelan restaurant with friends for dinner, and it was a great experience! The place has a nice, relaxed vibe - perfect for hanging out with friends. We tried different Arepas and Cachapas - everyone loved their food. The Tequeños and the green sauce were especially amazing! Portions were filling, prices were very reasonable. The owner is friendly, warm, and welcoming. They also offer a variety of drinks, including alcoholic options, non-alcoholic choices, and coffee. Overall, a wonderful spot with good food and good vibes.

Food is filling and well priced, great menu with flavorful food. Also has a coffee/ espresso menu with really good sized drinks for 2-4 dollars! Worker was really nice and all of their employees have a smile on their face

This food wasn't great. This vegetarian area was tasteless. The corn tortilla didn't have as much flavor as I wanted. The cheese (I requested real cheese) wasn't even melted. I only ate half. The tequenos weren't bad, but one of them had some weird sauce stuff come out that was NOT supposed to be inside the cheese tequenos. I couldn't eat it. Feel like this was a waste of $25 and very overpriced for the amount of food you get. I would not eat here again.

We have always loved grabbing Arepi at the local markets, and we love that they have an adorable little storefront in Fells Point now! Clean, fast, fairly priced, and most importantly, absolutely delicious! High quality ingredients and big portions.

Google
Arepi is a Venezuelan gem located in the heart of Fells Point, where the neighborhood’s charm blends perfectly with the warmth of the place and the authentic flavor of its cuisine. Every dish is full of tradition and homemade seasoning: generously filled arepas, crispy tequeños, and a perfectly made cachapa that wins you over from the first bite. The service is friendly, the space is cozy, and the whole experience transports you straight to Venezuela. A spot you’ll want to come back to again and again ❤️

The fillings were good. Didn’t love the arepas themselves as much as others I’ve had.

Will definitely be coming back!! Came here with some friends for lunch on the weekend and ordered a suburban arepa. Absolutely amazing! My friends loved their food as well. We ate on the patio outside which had nice music and overall a great atmosphere. Super friendly staff and great service! Can’t wait to try more food here!

Yelp
I'm so happy that Arepi finally has a storefront!!! I used to get their arepas at the Fells Point farmers market on a regular basis - iykyk. The arepas are flavorful, delicious, made fresh, and best of all for me - gluten free!!!! You may view it as a pro or a con that they are packed so full with the fillings, but for me it's an absolute pro. Get ready to get messy if you're biting in, or grab a fork. I will say that sometimes there is a significant wait (at the events they go to, as well as the storefront). With that being said, it's due to the quality of the food! So go and enjoy!

Yelp
PAVILLION AREPA The beef was tough and the broth tasted like it was watered down. Plantains were cooked well. The beans lacked flavor as well. The corn shell was bland. I liked that the shell was thick allowing it to be sturdy enough to hold it like a taco. Overall it was lackluster in flavors. Maybe they lowers the spices for the clientele of the area? ‍It wasn't for my soul, maybe it's for yours. Service was great, pleasant to order from and welcoming. Location offers free parking.

Yelp
I love seeing farmers market stands become brick and mortar. I also love celebrating Hispanic owned businesses. I will say, I was a little skeptical - Arepi has a HUGE cult following and for good reason but I've had some not so good experiences at the farmers market stands. But I went during Fells Fest, the busiest time and they delivered! It was a little slow to order, it was a festival and a small restaurant next to the Sound Garden. But I was surprised how quickly I got my order. The key to the Arepas is to make sure you add plantains to any item and I mixed both mild and hot sauces. I got the warm chicken arepa with added plantains and it really really hit the spot. My friend got the chicken salad and she also really enjoyed it. So glad to have more cultural local fast casual in fells. Will definitely be back! So happy for this team.

Yelp
I loved the food at arepi, it was fresh, flavorful, well balanced, and truly a delight. I got the chicken avocado one and was not disappointed by the crunchy shell, and soft and cheesy filling. The service was okay, nothing to write home about, but were polite nonetheless. Ambiance when I went was just a regular little store almost like a cafe. Definitely a spot for a casual chat and greeting.

Yelp
I enjoyed Arepi. The place was conveniently located next to The Sound Garden. The location was clean and the menu was easy to read. On the counter was a couple of pictures so I can get an idea of what the food looks like. The staff were more than helpful. The lady working explained everything. I will definitely be back to try more menu items.

Yelp
This is some of the best fast casual eats in Fells Point! I'm so glad they have a brick & mortar location now so I can visit them anytime I'm in the area. Their pop queen arepa is one of my favorite bites in baltimore! And I just tried their cachapa and yuca fries for the first time during this visit. The cheese pull on the cachapa was INSANE and it tasted soooo good. The service is always friendly. I always visit Arepi whenever I'm in town, they're one of the best local businesses around.

Yelp
As a native Venezolana this is hands down some of the best Venezuelan food I have found in the DMV area. The Cachapas are a must try for EVERYONE, it's like a sweet corn pancake with cheese and it's the perfect balance of flavors, reminded so perfectly of being back home in my country. The arepa was delicious but I would have preferred a more simple filling to really enjoy the dough. Tequenos were ok, I would have probably preferred the ones with just cheese but I can't complain. Service was exactly what it needed to be and I'm happy to see them getting the love they deserve, totally a place worth trying!

Yelp
I wish I had more time to try the cachapas and arepas!! I grabbed a side of fried plantains to go and was pleasantly surprised with a garlic aioli sauce on the side! The plantains were perfect! So sweet and warm and soft! The service was great and will definitely come again to try more food!

Yelp
Their food truck is one of my favorite in bmore! I love the urbanite, it's delicious, saucy, flavorful and just a very good arepa. Great portion too. Their staff is also very friendly and speedy! I follow their insta to see what events or places they'll pop up, highly recommend stopping by if you see them.

Yelp
Wow! I finally discovered why folks rave about Venezuelan arepas and Cachapas The corn bread wrappers were superb. Though I have long been a foodie loving many cuisines around the world, Venezuelan food is a relatively recent encounter. I have sampled Venezuelan arepas in popular places in NewYork, Washington, Las Vegas and at the home of Venezuelan friends. I thought "Venezuelean is OK; but nothing to write home about." At this place I "encountered the Wow" of what Venezuelan Cachapas and Arepas can be. The fillings and cheeses were generously apportioned and very tasty, but that corn bread wrapping is a whole new level of flavor. Yummy. Discover what Venezuelan 'delicioso' means.

Yelp
I got the "Urbanite" at the Fells Point Market. The good, reasonably priced and good quick service. The beef and spicy sauce was excellent! Good kick and great flavor worked well with cheddar. The corn "pita" was also good. The not so good, because it was a "pita" type sandwich the beef and sauce was just at the top. So once you got past the first 1/4rd it was nothing but corn bread and cheese. The beef mixture was also extremely wet making the whole thing soggy. Still good though.

Yelp
Just had the pleasure of visiting Arepi's new location. The vibes are exquisite, and promise to get even better as time goes on. The food gets better every time I've had it, and the addition of the yuka fries was truly inspired. The whole team is super friendly, happy to help & clearly put a lot of love into their work. Will be visiting again and again.

Yelp
How am I the first to review when there is so much hype about this place at every event?! Either way, this food is so delicious. We got a beef arepa and devoured it. Not a speck of food left and gone in 90 seconds. The corn patty had the perfect crisp to it, and the filling was full of flavor. We got the beef and cheese which is shredded. I will be trying the chicken next time. I will say this is a bit more Americanized than I have experienced before because they use cheddar and mozzarella cheese in the arepas, but I still enjoyed it. Because they are a pop up and mobile, some of the stuff was sold out when we ordered. Next time I see them, I'll make sure to snatch it up quick. You can find where they are via their Instagram (@eatarepi I think), but I randomly found them at a festival I went to at the Union Collective. Hopefully, they will go back there because I'm not the best at finding food trucks lol The people here were super nice! I see great things ahead for this new pop up :)

Yelp
So delicious! I was at the Fells Point Farmer's Market and stopped by their stand to enjoy a tasty Arepa sandwich filled with shredded chicken and mozzarella cheese. I want to return soon and try their vegan arepa and "Pop Queen" arepa made with chicken avocado salad, chives, and cream cheese. Harold Dams, Marketing Director, and his brother and mother told me they are opening a restaurant/store on Thames Street serving Venezuelan food, beer, and wine. I'll be looking for it!
