I want to share a very unpleasant experience with one of the male (gay) employees at this bakery. I have absolutely no problem with anyone's sexuality -- I have many gay friends myself -- but what really disappointed me was his lack of respect toward me as a customer.
I'm Vietnamese , and i know although my English isn't perfect, I can speak basic words well enough to order what I want. But this employee, who is also Asian, acted like he was mocking or judging my pronunciation. He didn't listen, showed no patience, and behaved as if I wasn't worth his attention.
The first time I met him, I bought around 20 pastries. When I pointed to the small chocolate cakes in the fridge, he acted like he didn't understand, even though I explained clearly and tried to help him find them. When it came time to pay, he said he didn't know the names of the pastries and asked me to name each one again -- like he was testing my English. What should've taken a few minutes ended up wasting my entire 30-minute lunch break.
I told him politely that I was running late and asked if he could please move faster, but instead of understanding, he got annoyed and questioned me like I was lying about having to work. Looks like I'm still wearing a uniform. It was extremely disrespectful.
The second time I went back, the same thing happened again. I simply asked for another identical cake -- there were four of the same kind right there in the display -- but he said he "didn't see it." When I pointed it out, he said it was "hard to get," even though he just needed to pull out the tray. It honestly felt like he didn't want to serve me or was intentionally making things difficult.
I feel really sad because I've always loved this bakery -- the pastries are delicious, the location is convenient, and the female staff before were always kind and attentive. My family often comes here to support the business. But these last two times, this male front-counter employee completely ruined the experience.
I don't understand how a great bakery like this could hire someone with such a poor attitude toward customers. I truly hope the owner looks into this seriously, because loyal customers like me shouldn't be treated this way.
