Winemaker Spotlight: Manuel Louzada

"Set amid the rolling hills of northeastern Spain, this estate is the first Vino de Pago winery in Navarra, with all grapes estate-grown and the winery set in the middle of its own vineyards. Achieving the designation demands history, extensive studies of soil and climate, and a decade proving the wines are different, and the focus here is squarely on terroir: the 2014 Arínzano Chardonnay uses the Italian R8 clone yet yields only about 25% of its typical crop because of site conditions. With Manuel Louzada as senior winemaker, the work stays vineyard-first—walking the rows and tasting grapes to let the place, not miracles, shape the wine." - Jacob Dean

It was the most beautiful winery tour I’ve ever been on, and also the one that answered the most of my long-held curiosities about wine. The fact that it was a private tour just for the two of us — without mixing with other tourists — made it even more special. It wasn’t a touristy, commercial experience, but a genuine tour led by Andrés, a true professional with deep passion and love for the place. We had plenty of time to enjoy the tastings, and the local charcuterie was fantastic! Visiting this winery once is far more worthwhile than going to two of the 30-euro wineries around Logroño.

We just finished our tour of Arinzano winery with Andres. It was by far one of our favorite winery tours. The wines were also amazing. We’re typically not chardonnay people, but theirs were unique and delicious. Andres was a fantastic guide and shared so much interesting knowledge with us.

We found the beautiful Arinzano winery on internet first and after reading about their huge estate and rich history, we immediately made reservations for one of their Mystery Experiences. A big shout out for Maria Fernandez: a lady-like Max Verstappen on the curbs of this wine circuit in her Formula 1 buggy, and most of all a true, passionate wine lover and expert in ‘her’ field! Each time we open one of the bottles we purchased, is like reliving the mystery 🍇🍷!

If you are lucky enough to be reading this then you have to come and visit this magnificent place. It is an extraordinary experience in every way. The very best time I had in Spain. The service is fabulous, the wines are superb and food is over the top. I brought wines back to the US and they turned out to be really quite something and floored me how good they are. This is a little bit of paradise - quiet and far from the hustling cities. A beautiful place to go and disappear back in time. Bravo to all who make this place shine!

We did a wine tasting at Arinzano in Navarra. The tour was done by Berta and she was the best guide we had during our trip in Spain. She explained history, terror, winery and wines during the tasting in a perfect way, very knowledgeable and with lots of passion. Strom recommendation to do a tasting here when in Navarra. The wines are also extraordinary and are a signature to the beautiful Navarra region.

We had a lovely day at Arínzano with Julien. Can't wait to come back. The winery is in a very relaxing setting with really delicious wine. We got to see the barrel rooms, which are pretty cool. Lots of wine tasting and some nice ham tasting too - I love that room. Lunch and a tour of the property topped off the experience. If you are in the region, you must go.

This amazing Bodega produces quality wines at a great prices and it’s not hard to see why. Its a beautiful estate that leaves you in awe at ever bend in the road or opening of a door. I highly recommend the detailed tour (don’t recall the exact name) that includes a barrel tasting, tour or the facilities, tour of the estate with a great overlook, ibérico ham plate with assorted bread, and a bottle tasting experience with Julien that will allow you to see everything this estate has to offer. It takes a couple hours but is well worth it (I’ve done it twice now). I truly enjoy everything about this estate which is why I will return again someday.

Thank you for a great visit. We had a fantastic time going through the estate and enjoying a fantastic tasting and Iberic ham. Our visit to the Arinzano estate was once again the highlight of our trip. The experience and hospitality you provide is incredible. We look forward to the opportunity to visit again. In the mean time we have some fantastic Arinzano wine to share with friends and family in the US.
