Arisaig Hotel

This Hotel has charm. It's a old hotel, with a cozzyness that defies the port, the damp and the coolness of the country. The rooms are modest, but have everything you need and a few pleasant extras (biscuits and tea). I am so glad I stayed the night here. It filled me with warmth and joy. Having a physical key made me very excited for whatever nostalgic reason. Rooms were clean and warm. The bar next attatched was full of life, laughter and delicous food. I arrived hoping to get out of the rain and cold, and in turn I was blown away.

Excellent stay, a bit shocked this hotel has some terrible or reviews. EXCELLENT FOOD, Rooms are nice, we had the twin and the bathroom was spotless. The staff are very on side and helpful as well as chatty, there is an excellent breakfast and the bar restaurant on an evening produced really nice and very filling food, we never had the dessert as we were full after a main meal and on only one occasion a starter. The reception is on a side corridor so not clearly in your face at the main entrance the easier way to here is via the bar however the entrance to the hotel is into the older part of the building dating back to the early 20th century. Wood and leather chairs in this area initially, old oak staircase to upstairs bedrooms. The building has history it’s not a concrete and steel chain hotel. Arisaig has also key history regarding SOE and a memorial is erected in the village, there is a Spar shop a ferry jetty for foot passengers to the island and two cafe. The islands centre has a number of books regarding the SOE and buildings in the area you can visit. ||I really liked the hotel, it’s warm and cozy, the public areas centre around the bar and a side bar seating area, the quiet side of the hotel has only two seating areas in what is a corridor zone really but it’s still comfortable.

This place is a gem. From the helpful, friendly staff to the lovely layout of our room, to the welcome for our dog. Oh, and did I forget to mention the views! ||The location is ideal for exploring the lower Hebrides and being just enough away from the hustle and bustle of Mallaig and other, busier tourist places. ||The food is delicious and the bar is full of atmosphere. We weren’t there on a night when there’s music, but that didn’t matter. The place was busy in the afternoon and into the dinnertime. Very relaxing - but has that element of life as well. I can recommend the mussels, monkfish (if it’s on the menu) and the mackerel pate or scallops to start. Oh, and the venison main was glorious. Booking is definitely a recommended necessity!

Room was comfortable and all staff were helpful. We had a fab view from the room. The bar outdoor decking area was lovely in the sunshine and our meal in the bar/restaurant was both delicious and excellent value. Recommend the Big Bad Brisket.||We visited Morar by train from Arisaig and it is well worth a trip to Silver Sands there.

Great hotel in a lovely location. Room was reasonably priced and bed was comfy. Evening service in the restaurant was quite poor unfortunately. We had to ask for menus after sat waiting for 5 minutes, waited another 10 before we ordered a drink. By the time we actually got our drinks we had been there for nearly 30 minutes. It wasn't that busy and there seemed to be 4 staff on so I'm not sure why it was so slow. A lot of the tables near us took ages to get cleaned after people left too. The food did arrive reasonably quickly once we ordered and the portions were huge. Breakfast service was top notch. Very friendly and accommodating and the selection of food was great. Overall a great stay and we really enjoyed it, just a slight let down with dinner service.

We paid for two rooms, but when we arrived, they had left the keys in a lockbox — however, one of the keychains was missing a key for one of the rooms. We couldn’t find anyone at reception and couldn’t reach anyone by phone, despite trying for hours. In the end, we had no choice but to all squeeze into one tiny room for the night — one of the worst nights’ sleep we’ve ever had.||To make matters worse, they only issued a partial refund.|Would not recommend to anyone who expects a bed with their hotel stay.

This is one of those great but quirky Scottish hotels that does its own thing and that you'll love if it suits you. Arisaig is so fortunate to have it. For people wanting Marriotts, Hiltons etc it might not work but it's in a beautiful place and very relaxed: front doors open most of the time, no real Reception - just a little bar counter, leave your checkout keys in a basket, no sitting room/relaxed public space, need to request room refresh etc. The adjoining bar has good food and live music and the hotel is really peaceful, unless it's a live music night and your room is near the bar. I stayed for 4 nights and loved it.

Amazing hotel, staff are like extended family! We booked here to have a meal after our micro-wedding! The wedding was meant to be on a nearby beach however due to weather warnings we weren’t able to, the staff at the hotel were so accommodating letting us get married on the covered decking! The food for the meal was amazing and every guest agreed! The guests that ordered steak were asked how they wanted it cooked and each person said it was cooked exactly the way they’d asked! The scallops were perfect too! |On a day that could have gone so wrong due to the weather, everyone thoroughly enjoyed and it was a stress free day! Thank you for making our wedding so memorable in all the best days! We will definitely be back!
