Wow! Very surprised to check this place out for lunch the first time and the cashier woman was rude as heck. Short lady heavy NE accent. They delivered my plate to my table with nothing else, no napkins, no utensils and took off quickly. When I asked for a water cup the rude cashier practically yelled at me with her answer. Blown away as a first time customer. They must not want to grow business. It’s sad. I never review restaurants unless I feel the need too. Hope you have a better experience.

Google
I ordered this via doordash, but, wowww - amazing! Sandwich was huge and so tasty! Definitely will order again. I’m so glad that I didn’t listen to any negative reviews, which I honestly think could be BS.

Google
This is the most consistently good sandwich in Scottsdale. The prices are reasonable, the portions more than fair and the quality superb. I’ve been coming here for 20 years and have never noticed a dip in quality of the food or service. Highly recommended!!

This was the first time we have ordered/catered for a office meeting and I the staff was patient and thorough with the order accuracy! At a point, cook came forward to double check the order was correct!

Google
One of the best most fresh lunches in the Dale! Visit here for lunch at least once per week. Never had a bad experience yet. The sandwiches are delicious and the salads are fresh and massive. Staff is super friendly too! They also offer a punch card as well so after you purchase 10 items (sandwich or salad) you get free food/drinks. Don’t miss this place.

Google
First time eating here. Garden salad with 2 scoops of Tuna salad was good. Lots of choices for dressing and type of bread on the side. Be sure to ask for butter if you want it. It's a somewhat small place so arrive early for lunch (11:30 was good) if you are eating in.

Yelp
Great local bakery to stop in for good sandwiches, salads, and soups. I also buy my breads here weekly; quality ingredients and always fresh! The place has a classic neighborhood bakery/deli feel to it. Just the kind of place to step away from the daily grind.

Yelp
Always love stopping here when I'm in the area. A whole turkey sandwich on fresh sourdough bread. SO tasty and for $12.50, not a bad price. The sandwich makes two meals for me. The service was quick and not a long wait for the sandwich to be made, to order. YUMM!!!

Yelp
From the day that this establishment opened working in the area, I would get a sandwich. It was so big you would nearly have to share the half sandwich with someone. They actually put tons of meat, tomatoes, and garnishes on their sandwiches. I purchased a sandwich for one of my clients a few weeks ago and she asked me to get her a half. The sandwich literally had two slices of meat on it with a bunch of lettuce what has happened to the bread company? It has been a landmark for years I know the times are hard financially, but this store Has cut corners to the max. If you order a bowl of soup, it resembles more of a cup when the store opened a bowl of soup was so large you could take half of it home no more.

Yelp
Wow! What a find. We were driving by and randomly stopped in. The service was lovely. I ordered the half chicken salad sandwich and small Caesar salad. The salad was fresh with fantastic croutons. The chicken salad was memorable. My hubby ordered the Scottsdale sandwich and it was delicious as well. The most notable thing was we also got a slice of the fresh made apricot walnut bread. It was jeweled edible art.

Yelp
What is this chicken noodle soup?! It literally has no seasonings and is so bland. The only saving grace was dipping bread into it. So bland and boring.

Yelp
We stopped here to get some sourdough bread and realized they have delicious looking sandwiches. We had already eaten so will have to return to try it. However, we managed to grab some pea soup and it was yummy. Will update once we tried more things. Enjoy!!

Yelp
This sandwich, soup and bread restaurant does a great job. The staff is friendly and helpful. They always offer five or six homemade soups, and their sandwiches are made to order, so you always get your choice of bread. Their 1/2 sandwich is very large and certainly enough for one person. Their 1/2 sandwich and cup of soup is a bargain. Their panini sandwiches are also excellent. They have been around for many years, so give them a try.

Alexa N.

Yelp
I love this place so much. They have delicious soups and sandwiches on homemade bread! They rotate their soup flavors each day. My favorite sandwich is the albacore tuna salad on the Kalamata olive bread! So yummy and the price is right! Pro tip- order the half sandwich if you're not as hungry or prefer smaller portions!

Yelp
Had been here once a really long time ago. Decided to try for dine in lunch today. We tried a club sandwich on honey wheat. Very tasty ! Sandwiches are enormous. Half would be plenty for most. I tried the combo cup of soup and chicken salad. It was delicious. Came with your choice of yummy fresh sliced bread. Friendly and accommodating service. Comfortable and pleasant dining area. Self-serve beverages. Only negative was staff clean up of dining area including chairs put up on tables started more than 30 minutes before closing time. I'd like to come back for breakfast. Also to buy a loaf of that wonderful cranberry orange bread. Sooo good!

Yelp
The vibes of this place give old school diner and I love it. The service is great and the food is even better!! If you want freshly baked bread this is the place to go. I enjoy their chicken noodle soup - a classic. All of their breads are delicious! I always look forward to visiting here.

Yelp
Will not be ordering from here again. The soup was fine but ordered the ham sandwich and they literally put a slice of ham between bread and nothing else. Lazy.

Yelp
Glad we found this place! Always on the hunt for a good loaf of sour dough! Fantastic! AND, ordered sandwiches and panini to go. Service was excellent, and quite helpful. Turkey was GREAT and fresh! Loaded with all the extras! I will be back!

Yelp
It was family homemade pasta night, and it was my responsibility to bring "crusty bread". I wanted to bring bread that was eccentric and electric. Bread from Safeway was not going to cut it and farmers market dominant Proof & Noble Bread are not nearby. I came across Arizona Bread Co, a locally owned mom n pop bakery and restaurant. I rolled up to the counter but was amazed to see how busy the restaurant was on a Saturday morning. The menu looks nice, I'd definitely be interested in giving it a try. I ordered a large sourdough bread, which was sliced for me at the shop. The bread was very good and was a hit within the family. It's nice to know that good local bread is so close.

Yelp
I cannot believe I haven't reviewed this restaurant yet. We seriously order delivery from them at least once a week or more. My hubbie is an ER dr who comes home exhausted & just wants to eat a great dinner & go to bed. The soups from here are complete dinners. I have ordered sausage , beans ( he adores) lasagna & meat , garden veg , clam chowder. & others. The bowl is a full meal for him w the sour dough bread. Plus the chicken salad is A ++++. The tuna is also great & the egg salad. Raisin challah is superb on Fridays. Highly recommend this restaurant !!

Scout L.

Yelp
The food was so good and portion size was generous. The bread is amazing, as expected. It's the perfect lunch spot, I loved it here!

Lisa B.

Yelp
Restaurant is filthy! Food is mostly good, however, it looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. Floor, front door and all customer areas need a deep cleaning. Their bathroom is disgusting! Used to go here once a week for lunch, but don't feel comfortable eating here anymore. Cashier touched broom/mop, then without washing hands, got fresh bread for a customer. Seems like the owners lost pride in their business.

Yelp
The food is always amazing! It my favorite place to meet my daughter for lunch. Super fast, always delicious. The portions are huge! A half of a sandwich is really the size of a full sandwich. Their soups are always delicious too. I have never tried a salad because half of the fun is seeing what bread is available that day! All have been delicious!!
google avatar

Yelp
Bakery that has been in business for almost 30 years. One location. Bread, pastries, food and cookies. It seems that there are a lot of regulars who have been coming here for decades! Staff is friendly, willing to offer advise and suggestions. Breads are good, but not spectacular in my mind. I tried olive bread and chili cheese bread. Gluten free blondie was great! Also they do not serve coffee although I would not call it a minus!
google avatar

Yelp
If you love fresh bread then try this place out! I've been to this location a few times to pickup a loaf of bread and I've never been disappointed. This trip I decided to try something from the menu... I ordered the half portion chicken salad sandwich on sourdough with a side of chips and salsa. Wow, it was tasty and the portion size was huge! I was very satisfied!

Don G.

Yelp
Spectacular Breads! The Rye is so very special, just like an east coast rye. And the Sourdough is equally delicious, like it was brought from San Francisco.

Diana Z.

Yelp
The best soup & sandwich shop in the valley! I have been coming here for years and the quality of food & fast service has never wavered. A half sandwich is huge. ( I am partial to their chicken salad on their fresh nine grain bread. ) Today I drove over to Scottsdale specifically for some hot soup to commemorate the first rain here in 5 months. Selection changes daily so today I chose chicken noodle. You also get to choose what type of bread to go with soup. Delicious!

Yelp
Has a local bake sale vibe. Customer service was good. Went on a Tuesday afternoon, the place was filled with guests dining in and coming in to order, they seem to have good traffic. They offer paninis, baked goods, and customizable sandwiches and soups as well. Not sure if it is a chain or locally owned company. On google owner is from Arizona obviously. Looks like they have two locations. has a pretty good atmosphere, i paid 11.35 before tipping for the "Santa Fe panini" with Honey ham, american cheese, tomato, onion, and mayo on a mini ciabatta bread. with a choice of a side of pretzels or chips, i got chips. their soda and water machine were out of order and there was damage to the side of the building. waited about 15ish mins for my food. Sandwich review// 5/10 maybe it's just personal preference but it tastes like something you could make at home, not anything special but the bread is fresh and well made. Maybe would have enjoyed a regular cold sandwich more. Overall I would come back again and try something else, they seem to have fresh ingredients, and their chips were pretty good. I just would not order that sandwich again. Hope this helps haha.

Yelp
The food was delicious! Got some soup and was fantastic! The service was amazing, quick fast and payed attention to details! Ambiance was cozy and nice! Would come again if I didn't live so far :)

Yelp
I had actually been eyeing this place for awhile and never got around to stopping by. I purchased their sourdough loaf as part of the AZ Market to Door offerings and was pleasantly surprised! Although this loaf isn't super crusty, it does have a very nice light crispy crust to it. The sourdough flavor is mild and the bread is light and fluffy. This reminds me of a San Francisco style sourdough. Pairs perfect with a little butter and your favorite bowl of soup.

Yelp
Always bought There Bread at least once a weekend at the marketplace at arrowhead. I will not do it again very disappointing. The last three times it has been not tasting. More dense, and not as light. The same doesn't last very long. Went back last weekend bought 2 lofts and Noticed they changed it to 8 dollars now. Got it on Sunday. I had mold all over it by Tuesday didn't even get to take one piece. No, I know they don't use preservatives but come on eight dollars for a loaf of sourdough and it doesn't even last three days very disappointed and how do you think you're gonna get your money back good luck with that one.

Yelp
ignore the 1 star reviews of this place, those people had petty things to complain about. i just received my postmates order & have never been more pleased than i am right now with an order. the sandwiches are of excellent quality, the chicken noodle soup is the best i've ever had, & the chocolate chip cookie is huge. 10/10 guys, thank you for quality.

Yelp
My husband and I absolutely love this place. I've been here twice now, once for a work event and another for a lunch date with my hubby. We had a lunch event catered, and was such a great experience. The business owner is such a sweet woman and worked closely with me to make sure everything was great. We had great deals and the food is absolutely amazing. When my husband and I came for lunch, we sat inside and had a great time. The Caesar salad is by far my favorite, and it feels like such a down to earth place. Would highly recommend!

John W.

Yelp
Half sandwich w/cup of soup. Albacore White Meat Tuna, sprouts, cucumbers slices, lettuce, tomato, and cheese if you want on bread of your choice. (rye pictured) Tasty, not too salty soups! Choose from 5 or 6 homemade soups.

Yelp
I ordered a half Club sandwich and cup of chicken noodle soup to go. I said just mayo and lettuce and onion on sandwich with the meats; turkey, ham, roast beef and chose provolone cheese. The club came with horseradish as I guess their club having roast beef it comes with it, but not listing that on the menu board. I said only mayo, they completely disregarded it. I HATE HORSERADISH. It is too overpowering, and I was unable to eat my sandwich. Then the cup of chicken noodle soup lid was on so tight, and it was so full of broth and hot, that as I tried to pry it open on either side it just spilled out half of the container of broth all over the table. The broth was absolutely tasteless, and the pasta shaped noodles were such mush it was inedible. I am so incredibly disappointed that both items cost me over $16 and I didn't eat them. Oh wait, I ate some of the potato chips. I will make sure my company who's ordered catered lunches before thinks again. Not a Fan!

Holly M.

Yelp
The best sandwich ever - tuna on chili cheese bread, with swiss, lettuce, onion, AZ mayo on both sides. Add bacon. Boom. You're welcome!
google avatar

Rich J.

Yelp
My wife wanted me to make homemade soup but I didn't have time. Saw AZ Bread had good reviews on their soups. They didn't disappoint! Soups were delicious and service was very friendly!
google avatar

Jeanne B.

Yelp
Their rye bread is wonderful!! Great salads and sandwiches.. The breads are epic! We get at least a loaf a week. Friendly staff and clean

Mike M.

Yelp
Been coming to AZ bread for over 20 years. I really do love the quality of their food and the senior staff is great but to be honest, the consistency of the sandwiches has been way off lately. They used to load up the sandwich with meat and they would fill the rest of the box with chips or pretzels or whatever the side was but lately I'm lucky to get 2 slices of meat and a full hand full of chips. This last time, they didn't give my the side of honey mustard but they made sure to put regular mustard on my sandwich even though I didn't order it. They just need some quality control before the food goes out.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been a vegetarian for several years, it's not easy finding vegetarian menu items that are more than just a placation to 'something without meat.' (I'm ovo-lacto vegetarian, so I eat eggs and cheese. I'm not some crazy vegan or anything!) I tend to have better luck at sandwich shops, but they are still Hit-or-Miss and ABC is a Hit. I got the Veggie sandwich with everything on it on a baguette and it was great. Very fresh and abundant veggies on a great baguette. The next time I wanna try the Egg Salad Sandwich and another time the Three Cheese Sandwich. I definitely recommend this for vegetarians and the carnivorous selections looked like they'd be just as good.
google avatar

Rebecca E.

Yelp
Always delicious. Love their soups and sandwiches. Customer service is always great and feels like family.
google avatar

Agata W.

Yelp
The best ! We've been going here for years. It's been family owned all that time. Never had a bad experience. Bread is always fresh and delicious. Staff is friendly. Their lunch menu isn also stellar.
google avatar

Gayl B.

Yelp
Sorry, AZ Bread, you suck. I ordered a salad and soup combo and got the big order of each. The upside of this is I had a salad for later. When my order was brought to the table (super fast), it was not only the wrong size (I know that I didn't say super size me), it was the wrong salad. Garden salad sounds nothing like Caesar. Back that went. The two bread rolls that came with the meal were hard as rocks and terribly bland. I did not have the only incorrect order. At least three other tables near us were wrong. This was not a simple "I have this person's meal and you have mine." These were just incorrect. Salmon chowder did taste like salmon, but nothing to write home about. The salad did go home and grew into that evening's meal for four of us (ok, I did add a few more items to it).

Yelp
I hate to leave a bad review for a place I love but I did not like the customer service I received after they messed up my order. It was an argument from the second I tried to explain why I was calling. Not good ABC. Customer service is important. I basically got yelled at for their mess up. I over paid through Uber eats because I can't leave my house. No refund over the phone was offered. I have to come in w a broken foot to get a refund in person. What a joke. No options on Uber eats to get an actual refund. Will be disputing my order.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
I just experienced a comedy of errors. While having lunch here, Gayl B and I watched the employees make at least three errors. Firstly, our order was botched. The cup of soup became a bowl of soup, and the house salad became a Caesar salad. My beef sandwich looked good but the meat was both as tough as nails and totally flavorless and the honey mustard dressing was almost non-existent. At the next table over, both corned beef sandwiches were served with the incorrect side dish. As we left we heard another customer saying that his order was wrong. Fortunately, most of these sorts of errors can be fixed. However, first off the employees have to understand what is wrong and then be willing to fix the errors. I did not feel that there was any real desire to learn from the mistakes being made. Customer service needs a lot of work if this restaurant is going to remain competitive. Not a good dining experience. Even though the bread had great flavor, the rest of the meal was a huge disappointment.

Yelp
I bought a loaf of bread from this company at the Old Town Farmers Market on a Saturday. The man who was selling them was so kind and friendly! I got the sourdough loaf and finished it within the week, it was delicious. One of the best sourdough breads I have had in awhile! I quickly found out they had this store front and offered breakfast and lunch. I was so ready to get a sandwich from here! It's a small family owned spot, very casual and great for a quick weekday lunch. I built my own sandwich, sourdough bread (of course), oven roasted turkey, Dijon, and all the toppings. I went with the half sandwich half soup lunch combo, great pricing! I got the vegetable soup which was so good, had a great variety of vegetables in it and loads of flavor. My half sandwich was HUGE! Not sure if this is normal sizing or they accidentally gave me a whole but I definitely had left overs. My lunch here was simple and delicious, great place to get your sandwich fix. Everyone working was super pleasant and happy to be working there. Food came out quickly. I will be back!

Yelp
I didn't eat here but was given a mission. For Thanksgiving, my host wanted Epi rolls. I had never heard of them so had to do some research. After making several calls to various bakeries, I found them at Arizona Bread Company. My phone connection was terrible and the second time around I ordered the rolls. I thought they were individual rolls. However they are like a French baguette only twisted. You can break off eight pieces of bread from the baguette. I went to pick them up and staff were very friendly and explained the origin of the Epi roll.

Carlos B.

Yelp
This place is horrible. The owners were extremely rude and I would hear them screaming at their poor employees. They too all the tips away and it was suck a horrible environment to be at. I will never go again. Also the food was so bad that I wouldn't feed it to my pet rat. Horrible place!!!

Diane R.

Yelp
First time here. It was really good. I got a combo of a garden salad and ham sandwich. Passion fruit tea was mmmmmm. The options are endless. You can add things to your sandwich. A variety of bread. And then the options of sides. The salads are large and the half of sandwich is also. Then the staff. They are very friendly and respectful. The place is cute and kept clean. Comfortable seating. Not hard to find. Right off of She on the noth side of the road. Convenient parking.

Yelp
Ate here while I was driving thru town about 2 months ago, the food was pretty darn good and the staff was nice.

Kim R.

Yelp
Delicious. Bread was soft and fresh. Had the chicken salad on Olive oil bread. Absolutely recommend. Not to much mayonnaise, fresh with great flavor. Wife had the scoop of tuna on a salad. Loved it. Will definitely go back when we are in the area.

Yelp
We had an order for 4 people yesterday and there was a lot of good but some not as good, and a potentially concerning issue. First, the quality of the sandwiches was great-fresh bread and crisp veggies. The service was fast. I was surprised that the chips were ruffles-there are a lot better sides they could use that would improve the orders. I had heard they used to have fresh 'homemade' chips, but no way to know if that was true, so not holding that against them, just why ruffles? One sandwich had something left off, and for a to go order, that is disappointing. The big concern was in watching them prepare the order, they placed the printed order on the counter, then placed the bread right on top of the printout. I also saw one worker with gloves touch non-food things then go back to making the sandwiches which is unsanitary. Based on that I will be discussing with management before returning, based on their response. Give them a chance to correct the issues.

Yelp
I have been here before with friends but today I was able to actually sample the menu. I ordered the Cesar Salad with the Tomato Basil soup. It came with chips, and I additionally got their fresh squeezed Orange Juice along with a Gluten Free Brownie. The owner Amy is so nice! I've met her before but the staff here are phenomenal. The food is far from cheap- but reasonably priced for the quality. (A lot is homemade here- from the crutons to the brownies). Everything I sampled was good. The Orange Juice was a great compliment to the meal. The salad was alright- the crutons were burnt but the salad greens were fresh. The soup and chips were fine- but the star of the show was the brownie! Decadent, Melt in Your Mouth and its Gluten Free! I would definitely come back here. I'm giving 4 stars because it's a little overpriced- but still a great (Jewish) local business.

Yelp
Their sour dough bread is real their mother is like 75 years old!!! Worth the drive for good bread. Very nice staff.
google avatar

Yelp
It was a cool day (yes, even in AZ lol) so we were looking for someplace for good soup and sandwich. This was our first time and we were very pleased. The staff was fantastic. They were so patient and helpful and we sampled the majority of the soups which were all delicious. At the end though we settled for the chicken noodle which was very very good. We also had a Sedona Panini that was delicious. As others have said the portions are very large. I couldn't finish my half sandwich and my husband couldn't finish his whole sandwich. But now we have something for dinner We will definitely be back.
