Where the canal drops 20 feet, SRP and the city revived a historic hydro plant as a free public-art site by Lajos Héder and Mags Harries. Editors love it for shaded canal strolling, engineering history, and photogenic cascades.

Great stop if you are in the area. I’ve lived in Arizona for 20 years and never stopped by here! It’s cool to learn about the water systems and how the canals create power through SRP. It’s a peaceful place, a great stop if you’re running or hiking along the canal as well. Will be back if I’m ever in the area again.

Google
This is a really good spot to go for a hike or take your dog for a walk. It's very pretty and relaxing. It's in town and just a cool spot to get away and kinda reset. They have a part with tennis courts and volleyball courts as well.

Google
This place has a safe walking running bike trail, away from traffic.. Friendly community, with people outside walking running riding bikes. I'd say the walking trail is close to four maybe five miles all the way around. Humming birds, bunny's and ducks, and birds are around. There's a park area with tennis court, restrooms and places to sit. Absolutely great place for outdoors with family and friends. Good Job Arizona Falls 🫡

Need a peaceful reset? 💆‍♀️✨ Arizona Falls is that unexpected slice of calm right in the heart of Phoenix. 🌊🚴‍♀️ Whether you’re walking, biking, or just vibing, the path leads you straight to the soothing sounds of a waterfall. Total hidden gem energy 💎💦 Perfect for clearing your head, snapping a few pics, and soaking up some desert zen. 📍: Arizona Falls, Phoenix, AZ Save this spot for your next chill day 🌞

Google
Great place to stop by or travel to on the canal. It was easy to access, free, and not busy at all so I found the space very peaceful. There are places to sit and trash cans at the falls, but otherwise few other services

Stan Gross

Google
We went there to check out the falls and hydroelectric power facility. It’s an interesting setup on the canal there in Arcadia, close to Scottsdale. There isn’t really a whole lot to see other than some architectural features by the main falls. Took about. 10 minutes to view the facility and snap some pics. It’s worth the stop if you happen to be in the area, but not really a spot for a specific trip across town.

Google
Pretty simple. Remind me of a water treatment facility. Stinky water. Maybe could have been a pretty backdrop for someone who wanted to take nice pictures. Maybe for someone who's more into photography or someone who's more photogenic

Google
Beautiful place to walk, jog, or run. Has pickleball and bike trails. Amazing view of this wonderful world be live in!

Yelp
If you have a realistic expectation of what this place is, it's pretty cool. If you're expecting a massive instagram-y waterfall, then god help you lol. Some reviews of this place are negative that it's not "cool enough", maybe those reviewers aren't cool enough? Just saying. Some folks just will not be pleased. This spot is fun to stop at when you're on a long walk, run, or bike along the canal. The water sounds are nice & soothing and you can put a shirt or hat into the falls to provide yourself with some natural cooling when you continue along your journey. I put my hat into the falls, if somehow the water is gross and shouldn't be touched or used, I saw no signage and I'm still here kicking, so it's fine ;)

Yelp
Who knew a spot like this exists in Phoenix? It's such a serene spot and it's cool as you're surrounded by water!! There is areas to walk along or shaded spots to sit and enjoy the closest we get to any waterfall lol there was plenty of water flowing and no funky smells while we were there. Thanks to SRP for providing a totally free cool spot for us to enjoy!

Yelp
Learned about this place on Yelp or I would have never knew it existed. I had it on my Yelp bucket list and decided to take the girls here to learn and enjoy. Here is a link to copy full of information on the design and history of this project. https://www.srpnet.com/water/canals/AzFallsTour/Default.aspx I like the signage numbered about filled with information about the project. It is a nice place to cool down on a hot Arizona day, The soothing running water from the falls is nice and drowns out the traffic noise nearby. You will see people in the community fishing and riding bikes in this area too. It has a really nice bike bath. The surround area has many options to eat and drink to satisfy anyone's taste buds. If there is a drought there will not be any running water so plan accordingly. There is a view of the south side of Camelback Mountain.

Yelp
This spot is definitely worth a visit; the entry is free and hassle-free. It generates electricity for numerous homes in Phoenix, which is quite impressive. Overall, a pretty amazing place to explore!

Thomas J.

Yelp
The site doesn't have much, but what it does have is rather amazing. This location was ideal for killing the half hour I had to spare. Numerous signs provide information on the waterfall, and after you explore the complex, you'll find it to be a pretty fascinating area. Tennis and pickleball courts are located beneath the canal, and there is a walking route alongside it.

Yelp
What a cool experience and so brilliant! Little hidden gem in town and best part it's free. Take a stroll around the path and enjoy the facility and beautiful grounds. You will learn all about the history and get some great photo ops.
google avatar

Yelp
What a hidden gem! I live about 18mins away and never knew about this place! Decided to play tourist this evening and visit it. This is the perfect place to sit and reflect while listening to the sounds of the waterfalls. Not to mention, on a super hot day, the breeze and drizzle from the waterfalls is so refreshing. I experienced it this evening. There are also signs to educate you about water consumption and supply. Definitely worth a stop.

Yelp
1/12/22 Quality/Quantity - Ummm, do not visit the fall during a drought... There was NO water, hence no falls. Atmosphere - Disappointed, no water = no fall. Really small park. It was fairly clean, not a lot of litter. Small parking lot, but more than enough space as I guess other people were smarter than I and did not come because they knew there was no water. The rest of the park was okay, but I think the lack of water just killed the mood for us. Service - Self service. Price - Free. Owner Suggestion - I got nothing to say... I guess we should just hope for rain, rain, and rain.

Yelp
Okay OKAY, WHO PUT 3 MINI MINI WATERFALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY? If that was you, I thank you sir or madam for doing God's work. We stopped by this hidden gem looking to explore more of Arizona and was quite jealous that we don't have something like this in Southern California. When you first get to the location, you don't see anything but a metal clad building next to a park. As you walk up the ramps and then back down, you walk into something that is truly mesmerizing to see and experience. To me it's a flowing work of art, to those in Arizona, this is the greatest gift around... Especially in the summer time. The photos don't do this location justice, but definitely something you should experience.
google avatar

Marie B.

Yelp
Who would have thought this is in the middle of these paths! What a neat cool spot in the summer. Had walked these paths which are always clean, safe, and nicely maintained but had never seen the falls. Much to discover and learn in this space. Very thankful it exists. Granted it was only 102 the day we went but with the falls it felt much cooler when walked down the steps. The sound of water and the feeling of power from that water was amazing to feel and experience. Be careful if you walk around under the falls, the algae build up can be slippery. Now our walks/runs will include a cool down in the falls. Great place for a cool down!
google avatar

Brijesh P.

Yelp
One of the most peaceful, tranquil, and of course, coolest places to cool off in an Arizona! This place is priceless to have in our community. Thank you SRP and City of Phoenix for providing such an incredible experience for us all to embrace and enjoy.

Yelp
There were a few things that impressed me in the Phoenix area: 1) the heat! I have never been so hot anywhere in my life. It feels like I was baking in an oven every day. 2) the large amount of water in the area. I went to so many places in Phoenix filled with fountains and bodies of water... they have done a lot to make this one huge oasis. A perfect example of this is Arizona Falls. Arizona Falls is a restored hydro-electric plant, that had been in use by the city for over a century. They essentially turned it into a shrine for water, and considering it's a desert I totally understand. Water is life. It's beautiful, and gives plenty of opportunities for great photos. It's also peaceful, and because of all the water... the place is actually cool... it dispels the ever present oppressive heat in Phoenix. Totally happy that Apple S, who I came with, found this awesome place! If your in the Phoenix area, check this place out!
google avatar

Travis T.

Yelp
Arizona Falls was the site of the first hydroelectric plant in Phoenix from 1902 to 1950. The Fall itself is a natural 20-foot waterfall that comes from the Arizona canal in Arcadia. SRP rebuilt it by combining art and technology to generate clean electricity from the canal's waterfall and for visitors to come learn and enjoy. There are a couple levels that you can explore and you can park at nearby Arcadia Park. Why do I like stopping here? Because it is freaking hot here in the summer and if I am in the area, I will stop here to cool off. Arizona Falls has hosted a couple of my 5K's in the past. I love running along the canal and then chilling out next to the waterfall.
google avatar

Leila R.

Yelp
What a cool little stop on the trail! I luved that they repurposed this waterworks into a nice little spot w/falling water features! You can come and just enjoy the white noise of the little makeshift waterfalls and watch the sunset sky turn to dusk with the usual Phoenix hues. There are even hummingbirds flitting in and out of the trees near the entry walkway! Great little respite from a trail ride/run/walk or just from daily life.
google avatar

Stuart P.

Yelp
If my AC breaks in the summer, I'm coming to cool off here, surrounded by waterfalls. What a great place to cool off, learn about hydroelectric systems and get a nice walk or run along the canal. If you like the sound of waterfalls, this is the place for you.
google avatar

Adam H.

Yelp
It's an okay place to sit and have coffee or a snack. Wouldn't recommend going out of your way to see.
google avatar

Kris L.

Yelp
On our visit the falls were dry and there was a terrible rotten sewage smell and green algae everywhere, nothing like all of the nice photos so we didn't stay long. I am assuming we just picked an unlucky time to visit. There were a few maintenance trucks and one area was closed off with fencing so perhaps it was under repair. On the plus side, the gears and other mechanical systems under the falls were visible since the water was not running. It was interesting to see these structures. Also the adjoining canal jogging trail is nicely landscaped. I will have to try visiting again, perhaps in the winter.

Yelp
I heard about Arizona Falls in a Landscape Architecture class at school. It sounded really cool so when I realized I was nearby I stopped to check it out. I'm glad I did! Arizona Falls is a feature in G R Herberger Park. There is a large shaded parking lot and the trail to the falls is handicap accessible. The falls are not very large, but they are very picturesque. I love the urban waterfall vibe and there is a lot of educational material about the site.

Yelp
It was a surprise to see this lock while driving and came back biking on the waterway. It was also a surprise to see all the water features here. I was again surprised at all the little walkways to explore this tiny but formidable water item. Loved seeing the diver birds patrolling the entrance of the waterway. It really was a lot of birds, diversions, levels, cinder blocks, falling waterways and photo opps. Its connected to a park, so you can drive and park there, too. A perfect place to bike through getting to the OHSO brewery which is bike and pet friendly.
google avatar

Apple S.

Yelp
We enjoyed a short stop at these falls, great photo ops and a lot of side information displayed. It doesn't take up a lot of time to explore here but for sure worth a visit!
google avatar

Zeeshan H.

Yelp
I was just driving through Phoenix and saw Arizona Falls on the map, it sounded cool so my wife and I went and it was great! Super pretty walk and nice to see the water and facility. I love how something functional is also being displayed as art. Absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately the falls weren't true to their name during our visit. Not sure if it changes throughout the year or what, but nevertheless it was a nice stroll.
google avatar

Maryellen S.

Yelp
Such a great place tucked right between Old Town and Arcadia. Definitely worth a stop to ponder the history of canals in the area. Great photo opportunities and instagrammable architectural features. My fav part is the birds and ducks that sit right on the edge of a tiny ridge, eat kelp and do what appears to be the equivalent of body surfing. So cute! This is close to some restaurants and Arcadia Park, well worth a 15 minute side trip!
google avatar

Stoney C.

Yelp
It's a really nice place to take picture with the water falls. It has a tennis court it's really nice small Area to view the water falls
google avatar

Amit C.

Yelp
Ok let's be honest. A waterfall in the deserts of Arizona seemed like an amazing attraction for us to visit. But this is really just a water processing facility site. I guess being from California has made us privy to a host of incredible natural waterfalls and beaches etc, so I'm a little biased. But really this is not worth the visit...
google avatar

Ilana P.

Yelp
It's best if you come here with low expectations. It's not the most fabulous thing in the world but it is a refreshing peice of land in an otherwise bustling city. When I was a teenager me and my friends would come here to have little picnics and watch the sunset. It's also a great place for a photo opp! It's absolutely worth checking out if you're already in the area.

Jesse M.

Yelp
Interesting place, only a 15minute stop to check out the water and learn about the area.
google avatar

Betty W.

Yelp
Interesting free thing to do in the Phoenix area that can also be a learning lesson for elementary students and above on water and water power generation source. Handicapped accessible. Self guided walking tour with information posters around explaining the process with the water. My husband and me spent about 20 minutes there. Very picturesque to see the falls. Worth the time to visit at least once. Lots of parking available and close to a walking\running trail.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
Need to do a better job of maintaining the area. Update the lightening. Make sure burnt out lights are replaced
google avatar

Emma B.

Yelp
The waterfalls haven't been running for weeks. I don't know why and I don't know who to ask about it. The water is stagnant and gross now.
google avatar

Norm R.

Yelp
This is a good place to relax (the sound of falling water is always relaxing) while taking in some tidbits of history of the area and increasing your awareness of green energy. The Arizona Canal drops 20 feet at this point and this was a favorite picnic area for Phoenicians in the late 1800s. Since the early 1900s, the falls were used to generate hydroelectric power and has since been redesigned to be an park where art, history, and technology are combined for the enjoyment of the public. Enter through the G.R. Herberger Park on Indian School Rd. near the Scottsdale border. In the parking lot you'll see the beginning of the walkway to the falls.
google avatar

Tai T.

Yelp
Drive out to find no water flowing. Was a bit disappointing. If there water were running I think this would of been a good visit. Close parking. Clean area. Feels safe.
google avatar

Gayl B.

Yelp
Wow, who knew? My local tour guides. That's who. It's February, and it is about 83 degrees, not even hot here (compared to July or August when it's 110), but I'm riding in a car that's A/C is one of those 4x60 units, occasionally a 5x75 unit when the sunroof is open and someone is speeding. The car has air, but my young driver just likes the fresh air (in Phoenix?). Anyway, we are zipping along and my driver screeches into the parking lot and says "you gotta see this; it'll cool you off." Yes, I did need to see it. Educational (read all the signs), check; refreshingly cool (get close enough on the lower level to let the spray of the water hit you), check; exercise (go up and down the stairs a few times), check; calming sounds (of the waterfalls), check.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
I love neighborhood areas with a story. This space has an interesting story to tell so read the information that is posted and then enjoy the cooling spray of the falls. I am sure that sometimes this area is jam packed with families. Enjoy this little park. You can't miss it as it is right on Indian School Road. Bring your dog or your whole family here for some outdoor fun and splash around.
google avatar

Aaron P.

Yelp
Went to see the falls and went for a short run and walk here. Tennis courts and bikes to rent and very clean quiet area with a view of Camelback! Love it and I'll be back
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
This is my new favorite place. I like to walk on the trails and hang out by the falls. Very family friendly. The park accommodations are always clean when I visit. I highly recommend. The history of this place is also very interesting.
google avatar

Ashlee M.

Yelp
Came here late one Saturday evening with my dog and fiance. It was a nice experience and it was a cool reprieve from the hot weather. It could use a little more lightening as it is open late, but not very well lit. I would like to come back in the daytime so I can appreciate it better. It has a wheelchair accessible area.
google avatar

Reba C.

Yelp
A refreshing oasis in the middle of Phoenix! We stopped by here mid-day to kill time before heading to the airport and spent a solid 30 minutes enjoying the park. If you are in the area, for sure stop by but I wouldn't make it a destination. Pretty decent place for a picnic on a warm day, sitting in the spray of the water.
google avatar

Stephanie Z.

Yelp
You'd think this place was like a natural waterfall or something but it's not. It's totally man made. But it is still nice for a walk but not for a place to go take photographs at.
google avatar

Lori M.

Yelp
I've lived here all of my life and had never heard of this place until Mike took me here one day a couple of years ago. What a well kept secret! Cool place to sit and relax and just listen to the falls. I've come here during the day and night and felt pretty safe. Parking is just a short walk from the falls and it is free to visit!
google avatar

Dana B.

Yelp
The falls themselves are interesting and pretty but once you're away from the the falls, the walk along the canal is like walking along an aqueduct without much to see. Maybe we didn't walk far enough to see very much?
google avatar

Mariah L.

Yelp
Stumbled across Arizona falls last weekend when my boyfriend and I were out geocaching. The weather has finally been cooling off so we decided to spend some more time outside. I forgot that there are so many interesting things to see in this particular area! There are spots to sit to have a nice picnic. I went down the stairs and just stood there listening to the sounds of the flowing water. I've never seen anything like it and am definitely going to return to relax and take in the sounds.
google avatar

Eddie C.

Yelp
Neat urban space to come and take a few pictures. It's a very calming place if the weather isn't too hot. There was plenty of parking available when I went.
google avatar

Fred M.

Yelp
Arizona Falls is a not-very-well known attraction on the Arizona Canal at 58th Street. It is one of my favorite places in Phoenix to go and to take out of towners to. It once was a watering hole for people and was a hydroelectric dam. In 2003 it was rebuilt very well and had gorgeous waterfalls put in overhead that you can walk under. It is open 24/7 and is free to visit. It's hard to explain how amazing this venue is so you'll just have to go visit for yourself.
google avatar

Jasmine A.

Yelp
This place is awesome! How did I not know it existed? No one I have told about it has ever heard of it either. Sit between the waterfalls and listen to the beautiful sound. Fun to take pictures and feels so much cooler surrounded by all the water even in the middle of summer. Had fun watching all the huge catfish. Looking at the bizillions of shells in the dirt around the canal. Kids got to learn about hydroelectricity. A great adventure!
google avatar

Simplelife S.

Yelp
This is a water reclamation center not an actual waterfall the water does fall and you can get nice pictures there as shown below but again it is a water reclamation center not an actual fall.
google avatar

O'Zandra F.

Yelp
Wow! This is a hidden gem! I found this place while cycling along the canal early one morning. It is very peaceful and serene. One can take a load off and get lost in the waterfall for hours. I would love to see the waterfall in the evening or at night!
google avatar

Kaci G.

Yelp
I live literally around the corner from this place, and only found out about it because of yelp. It is awesome, a little stinky, but awesome! We packed a lunch and headed over there a while back. We were the only ones there and we had a great time. Taking pictures, looking at everything and relaxing to the sound of the falls. Great day!
google avatar

Autumn M.

Yelp
I've lived in Phoenix most of my adult life and was pleased to discover this hidden treasure. Must see for natives and out of towners.
google avatar

Sheila L.

Yelp
They are tearing up the trail, and work trucks drove on it today so all the joggers and dog walkers (me) had to step down in the crevase ditch. I guess its ok because currently the south side is all torn up so you walk on the north side of canal and pretty soon, it will be vicey versa. But 5 stars because the canal path is the bomb and at least its still functionable, the weather is beautiful and who can complain about that!
