On the Grid : Arlington Five

"Bright and buzzing with chatter, Arlington Five is a haven for Ottawa coffee drinkers. Located just off Bank Street, the café’s life-size outdoor ‘COFFEE’ sign gives no illusions as to what you’ll find inside: warm and luscious coffee that is skillfully prepared. The space is filled with local art, cozy seating, and aesthetically pleasing café-ware. Nibble on some homemade treats while you sit at the communal wood-table, or sip on a latté while gazing out their storefront window (great for people watching)." - Shopify

The Best Coffee Shops in Ottawa and Gatineau | Eater Montreal

"Owned by the folks at Wilf and Ada’s around the corner, this cozy spot is worth visiting even if you’re not in the Wilf & Ada’s brunch line on the weekend. Beyond coffee, the café has events like mason jar exchanges, “life-and-death” drawing sessions, and dry bar evenings." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

First time trying their vanilla ice matcha. I was very satisfied with its quality, I can taste the matcha quite well and the colour is a nice dark green. Their sweetener isn’t very sweet so if you like your drink to taste sweeter I would advise to add some fruit purée like mango or strawberry. Otherwise their customer service was impeccable, the staff was really nice and the overall vibe of the cafe was great. They also have a patio which was a great surprise.

I finally understand what the hype is all about and I'm happy to report I'm pleased. Ordered a chai latte and the veggie sandwich which was OMG mindblowing. There was some sweet factor in it but altogether each note hit the balance on spot! They do have seating space outside and inside but it was full but one of the servers very kindly setup a spot for me in the backyard. I thoroughly enjoyed and cant wait to go back and try the scones and cookies which looked extremely appetizing

Cozy cafe with tasty coffee, tasty baked treats, and nice servers. We requested for our cheese scone and blueberry muffin to be heated up and though they didn’t have a microwave, they were able to heat it up using their grill press which was great customer service. The baked goods were extra nice too after heating them up. Coffee is smooth. You can buy coffee beans to brew at home. Be prepared as I can be very busy on weekends. They have an outdoor patio at the back and a few seating at the front.

Love the food, love the coffee. The staff are nice and get the job done. Arlington 5 has one of the better vegan sandwiches in Ottawa. This would be the perfect cafe except I wouldn't sit inside again. The music was way too loud. I could hear it through my noise cancelling headphones, and it was annoying. I had a headache by the time I was finished my coffee.

Super cute cafe! The baristas were super friendly and made great recommendations. They have a rotating seasonal menu and a unique little spot right near downtown in the Glebe. They also have gorgeous murals and art all over the exterior and interior of the building. I will definitely be returning.

Visited from toronto, loved the vibes of the place and while it felt like a cafe you could find here, there was just something about it that drew me back to visit everyday of my trip. The drinks and desserts were amazing, staff was kind, place was clean. Only complaint was it was a bit pensive considering they fill half your cup with ice, but nothing out of the ordinary for a small owned coffee shop. Loved it, and will definitely be back!

EDIT: I came back here on a Friday around 1PM and i've changed my opinion. It definitely wasn't as busy as a Saturday morning, but service remained a bit sluggish still. Despite that, the individual taking my order was extremely friendly and guided me towards their lemonade coldbrew special - which she suggested a sample can be given to me. I enjoyed that fun coldbrew and the chocolatine was definitely chocolatey albeit soft. In the end - it's a nice spot, and worth a visit on a less busy day - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I've heard good things about this place, notably their chocolatine with 3 bars of chocolate - hard to come by. I happened to find myself in the area on a mid-Saturday morning. The place was evidently buzzing. Unfortunately, it seems like there is only one staff preparing beverages and takes a very long time. The line probably moved around 4 people in the span of 20 or so minutes. On top of that, they do like to chat and kick tires instead of focusing on moving the line along. I even heard one of the staff express "or we're managing just fine" or something along those lines. If one customer every 5 minutes is "fine" then yikes. So if you like to spend your entire morning grabbing coffee, splendid recommendation from me. People tell me it's less busy on the weekday but i'm not sure if I'll ever want to try again after a bit of a sour taste in my mouth today.
