Arlo’s is one of my favorite vegan burger places in town. It’s got the McD’s taste. I ordered the tater tots and bacon cheeseburger. I’ve also had the fries and mac and cheese here. The mac and cheese is great! The side can feed one person. I wish they had their own store front. This is attached to a bar. The bar is cute but I wanted some dedicated seating.

Google
The worse food I’ve ever had in my life!!!!! I’m 34 years old btw. When I say my complete $30 order was burned even the bun was burned very upset I even tried this place. Then the fact that yall put burned friend pickles in the bag lets me know you knew you shouldn’t have sent this meal the way yall did.

Google
Some of the best vegan food in Austin. I am not a vegan, but my wife is, so we frequent this place every time we come to Austin. You can really get anything, it’s all good. My personal pick is the fried pickles with the ranch 👌🏼

Everything was amazing — definitely ordering again! I got the Barbecue Burger, the Bacon & Cheese Burger, and the tater tots. Everything was delicious, generous portions, and super satisfying. Fully plant-based comfort food done right. I would definitely order again!

Great food and fast service! The jalapeño ranch is a must try! The chikn used tastes a bit like a veggie burger, which may have some appeal to those not ready for a full fledged meat substitute. There are some outdoor seating areas, but probably better off eating in a car during this hot weather.

Arlo’s Junior is literally a door. Must order online. Food was good. Expensive but good. Combo doesnt include a drink. Very generous portions. 🌱👍🏼

Google
Geez louise… the best vegan burger I’ve ever had. My mission is to understand how to replicate this deliciousness at home. I’ve been here a few times, and the food is consistently delicious. I highly recommend the vegan cheese burger and BBQ burger. If you’re going to get a side, GET THE TATER TOTS. Holy nubs, they might be the best seasoned tater tots I’ve ever come across.

Vegan from my head to-ma-toes 🍅 Highlights: •Vegan burger •Crispy Tots •Mac & Cheese on a burger Review: Highly recommended spot by one of my coworkers which was not a miss-steak. Let’s start with the tots which were crispy, salty, well seasoned, hot and perfectly soft in the center. Now for the Cheezeburger, it was full of flavor, hints of smokiness, seasoned to perfection, charred, nuttiness from the cheeze, acidity from the pickles, saltiness from the bac’n, great texture from the patty and the Mac & Cheeze added some amazing creaminess to elevate it. Can’t wait to try their other vegan menu items. Rating: 8/10 BAC'N CHEEZEBURGER (Add Mac) - House made soy free & gluten free patty, stacked with house-made seitan bac'n, melted cheeze, ketchup. mustard, mayo. tomatoes, onions, pickles. and lettuce. Side of Tots

Yelp
I just became vegan earlier this week & been craving a burger so I found Arlo's late night (11 PM) for my first vegan cheeseburger ever. Nice to have the crave-able options! Actually enjoyed the 'Bac'N Cheeze Burger.' The taste was excellent with the twang of mustard & you couldn't honestly tell it was vegan except that the bacon seemed kinda wimpy. I also thought the additional condiments were way too minimal instead of ample. Where's the crispy lettuce??? I don't have any at all on my take-out burger, maybe it was forgotten? A small thin tomato only two lame mutilated pickles (my fav) weren't enough. Guess next time I'll know to ask for extra. Wins: overall size & taste of burger & the ample dose of perfectly made tater tots. Plus crew friendliness & service & speed with fair prices. Cons: condiment amounts & bacon weren't anything to crow about. No air conditioning (it's outside & hot in TX). One ketchup isn't enough for the awesome tots portion, 2 would be perfect. Overall I'd go back & get a double, & hopefully raise my star rating.

Yelp
Arlo's has been through a lot. At one point, you could count on multiple trucks across the city to feed you into the dark hours of the night, long after all other vegan establishments had gone to bed. Now, in this latest evolution, there's but one lone outpost at Love Birds bar with a painfully pared down menu. There's just a cheeseburger (single or double) or a chicken sandwich. Tots, fried pickles, or mac and cheese for sides. That's it. No more frito pies, no more tacos, no more BBQ specialties. I'm glad and grateful it manages to persist... But Sad that it's lost so much of what originally put it on the map.

Yelp
Most vegetarian / vegan restaurants will try to claim that their food is almost the same taste as regular meat, and more often than not they're lying or it's so close but still not the same. Arlo's is NOT like that. I swear their burgers taste just like the real thing and it would be hard for me to determine which one was vegartian / vegan if you put it next to a real meat one. It makes it even harder to determine because the burgers are juicy and tasty. Also, their sides are awesome. I love the Mac and Cheese and my wife is a fan of the tater tots so it works out for both of us. Don't forget to put Mac and Cheese on your burger it's worth it. Unfortunately my wife and I have only gone each time at night at ungodly hours so I have no idea how busy it is during the day. I will say that the times we've been its been the same level of quality each time. I love this place and I definitely encourage you to try.

Yelp
It's just...so so good when you'ré craving comfort food. It's not Beyond or Impossible meat, they make veggie patties from scratch. And their bac'un is also made from scratch. Really really hoping they open a location further north again so I can frequent more, it's so yummy!
google avatar

Yelp
$7 chips and salsa that's a small basket with Adobo sauce. Adobo sauce isn't salsa. That same $7 also gets you one taco. It's better to bring your own food at this point.

Yelp
My husband and I would rate Arlo's 12 out of 10 stars. We are from Houston and every time we make our way to Austin, Arlo's is our first choice for dinner. We have been loyal customers for years and while the last time we visited there was a little hiccup with our order, they went out of their way to make things right. In addition to mouthwatering vegan burgers, we would also like to highlight their superb customer service. If you haven't tried Arlo's yet, you are missing out. Thank you so much.

Yelp
Just showed up at midnight when it said it was still open. I was informed it hasn't been operating for awhile. Huge bummer. Why does it still say it is open!!???

Yelp
I love this place! The Bac'n Cheeze Burger is freaking amazing! Feels so indulgent, like you're eating something bad for you, but yet it contains no animal products. Woohoo! The tots are always perfectly crispy. The burger really is enough for your meal, but how can you pass up that fried goodness? I have taken meat eaters here and they have all loved this burger too. This place hits the spot for everyone!

Yelp
Yes, I have been here before I had the chicken sandwich 1 out of 10 I give it a seven I had the double bacon cheeseburger. I give it a straight up 1 out of 10 it's a 10 fries they get a 10 delicious. Haven't had anything else yet but love this place.

Lindsay S.

Yelp
I had an excellent vegan GF burger and fries from here. That combo (vegan plus gluten free) can be hard to find so I was very happy for the accommodation. The fries were great and I appreciated that the patty in the burger was made from scratch and not just another beyond or impossible patty. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Finally caught Arlo's open and this vegetarian was happy enough just getting to try the offerings. 8 days in Austin and the burger was the best food I had had the whole time. Until I bit into the Frito pie. In another case of the sauce makes all the difference, the pico and chili part jumped to the top of all those meals. Wish there was an Arlo's back home in the Portland area!

Yelp
Don't look like much but it is so awesome!! One of the best food truck experience I have had. Love the ambiance- the seating arrangement is so cute, especially in the night, with the hanging string lights - it looks super cute, cozy and welcoming. It's an all vegan, plant based food truck. We got lucky when we went it was not super crowded. Ordered the two type of tacos they have - burger crumbles and Seitan. I am not a big fan of fake meat so I stuck with the burger crumbles and it was oh so delicious- hands down the best tacos I have ever had. Good balance of flavors and texture. We also ordered the sweet potato fries- it was nicely done, perfectly crisp and well seasoned. Highly recommend this food truck if you are ever in this neighborhood. I have already spread the word among friends and family and I can't wait to revisit and try some other items on the menu. Keep up the good work guys!! Best wishes! JJ

Yelp
Not returning here again!! I live up north, but I usually go to the one off fruth st but they weren't answering their calls to place an order. So I decided to go where I did not want to go.. Arlos off red river-- I experience different service from the two locations. The red river location has poor service all the time ( rude) and will be my last time coming there (3rd time). They messed up on my order, I asked for a Fritos pie burger, and was charge for what I asked for... but they gave me the Fritos pie plate instead! I didn't notice until I was almost home, and then they closed. I contacted them and told me they would refund me and send me an e gift card, I followed up twice and they did not reply. I did not receive either of those. Complete BS service.

Yelp
Logistics first. In order to get to Arlo's, you'll have to go through Cheer Up Charlies. The guy at the front will ask for a donation to get in to support the bands. You can either pay the donation, or tell him that you're just here for Arlo's, and he'll let you in. Make a couple turns and you're there. This is my first time trying a legitimate veggie burger. If you're aware and paying attention, you can feel the slight difference in texture, but it's not something that'll distract you. The flavor of the patty is great and has a nice char. The "bacon" can be more crispy, but that and everything in the burger complements each other very well. The tomato and lettuce look fresh. The tater tots are also super crispy. You can tell everything has a purpose and is at a high quality. In the end, you'll also notice how little grease there is, and it's a darn good feeling. Their burgers will definitely satisfy any burger cravings you get, no matter what kind of diet you're on. Their price tag is fantastic for the quality, and they've set a high bar for meatless burgers.
google avatar

Cara K.

Yelp
Really good gluten free and vegan burger the tots I'm sure are good too my friend had them cheer up Charlie's is always a blast

Lizzy P.

Yelp
Really good vegan food at a really good price. Portions are generous, and the vibes are really positive. Only downside is no fans or AC as it is outdoors so it can get pretty hot.

Yelp
I love Arlo's, a good juicy vegan burger always hits the spot in my heart. I love this place and I've only been here once. I ordered the bacun cheeze burger and was beat with the best orgasm in the mouth which I haven't had in a while. It's hard trying to find a good vegan burger, but it's fairly easy in cities like Austin or Dallas. What's even better? No animal had to sacrifice its life to satisfy my taste buds. Seasoned to the tee and although I was never a fan of pork bacon, this bacun is delicious. It adds a nice touch to the burger. To top it off, a very attractive cute Indian guy served me. Wow, he was yummy. I'll stop, yeah, but overall a good location to flirt, I mean, eat worthwhile food without killing your budget.

Yelp
While attempting to incorporate a more plant-based lifestyle in April of 2018, I did my research before coming to town. Arlo's was just the late night post-bar experience I needed after my first night out in Austin when visiting for my birthday last year. It well exceeded my expectations. After going out on Rainey Street, we walked up to this food truck that is hosted on the site of the Cheer Up Charlie's bar. Weird because it is fenced in not just parked on the lot so you had to show ID and explain that you are just trying to order food to go. I read that sometimes the actual bar charges a cover depending on the night to go in and around to order your food, that night we did not encounter that fortunately. We ordered Bac'n Cheezeburgers and fries. We didn't eat them right there on site, instead we called our Lyft and took them back to the AirBnB and ate them on our patio. Even with the commute time the food was still hot and delicious. I would love to have an establishment like that around where I live so I could "pig" out with less guilt.

Yelp
So Arlo's serves the honor of being the first place I hit up in Austin (well really the entire state of Texas) after arriving in the airport. I immediately took my Lyft here for lunch after reading about the truck in various reviews and publications. I'm normally a skeptic of vegan replacements for food, especially meat since I grew up as a vegetarian. Also, I've never really been a fan of vegan substitutes for cheese either. However, the reviews alone justified the try on my end. From entering, I thought it was kind of unique how they had the seating. Gave me a picnic type of vibe next to Cheer up Charlie's. Thought it was cool. I asked for the most favorite item on the menu, which turned out to be the Bac'N Cheezburger. Now full disclosure: I never tasted bacon in real life. For some reason though, the burger tasted amazing. Like it had a really really good kick. And I almost forgot that it was fully vegan. Didn't taste that it was plant-based cheese. Didn't notice the vegan bacon (maybe that's not a good thing, I don't know). For a vegan burger, this place has really set the gold standard for a quality burger that can beat out most sit-down establishments. Real kudos to y'all. So yes, if you're in Austin, make it out here. Take a scooter or something to swing by for a dope plant-based burger.

Yelp
Oh my gosh, I just had the best vegan burger/gluten free bun combo I've ever had at a food truck! It also probably ranks better than any vegan burger/gf bun I've had at a restaurant too. The burger itself was very filling, and the toppings were flavorful and very well balanced. I also ordered a side of fries that were delicious, and also a great portion size. Staff were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about allergens; the bac'n is not gluten free.
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
Every time I come to Austin, this is literally the first place I go if they are open. The first time I had Arlo's, I was making an effort to eat vegetarian, but had trouble finding things that were actually appetizing. Texture was also a big thing for me. Arlo's "bacon cheeseburger" convinced me that I could do it and I am now 90% vegetarian and loving it. Thank you to Arlo's. I tell everyone about your food!
google avatar

Kristen F.

Yelp
Yum! Arlo's is a (permanently located?) food truck style fast food joint. There is at least one other truck around town as well. I had the bacon cheeseburger (vegan). It was a house made patty with housemade seitan bacon (the best bacon I've had vegan!). The toppings were plentiful: vegan cheese, mayo, ketchup, mustard, red onion, pickles I think? Anyway, I ordered as is and It. Was. Delicious. The bun was toasted and really made the burger next level. We were so impressed and wished we were hungrier as we only got one burger to split. Later that night I ended up ordering some cheeky drunk food through postmates from Arlo's. This time, their chipotle seitan chicken sandwich and chili Mac. The sandwich was dynamite!! The chili Mac was tasty but I had expected more cheese. The Mac is definitely a filling meal on its own and I feel that Arlo's is a great value for the dollar you're paying.
google avatar

Rini S.

Yelp
These were some pretty good vegan burgers but service wasn't the best. I liked what I had (bac'n cheezeburger) but my complaint is that they got my order wrong (asked for no mustard, no pickles and to add grilled jalapenos). Had to stand in line for another 10 minutes after getting my order (which took 15-20 minutes to get), for them to fix it. I also had to prove that I ordered what I said I ordered (like got weird faces when I was explaining what was wrong). I really liked the corrected burger even though it was cold by the time I ate it. Will probably try this place again! Hopefully the guy who I spoke with was just having an off day.
google avatar

Katie G.

Yelp
Best vegan burger to date! The hype about Arlos is real. We tried the bacon cheeseburger, the BBQ burger, and the tots. My husband, who is not vegan, was thoroughly impressed. All of the taste is there, but you actually don't feel horrible after eating it, like a regular greasy burger. The tots are awesome too. Easy to order online or in person at their food trucks. Good outdoor, socially distanced seating options too.
google avatar

Eva B.

Yelp
The best vegan food I've ever had in my life! Everyone was super nice and my order was made within minutes! Highly recommend :)

Kerra S.

Yelp
Came here with my friends after 6th, we walked about 1/2 a mile to get here , and were refused for being " too intoxicated." Initially when told this we thought the dude was joking, because we were all perfectly fine . After him telling us he absolutely wouldn't serve us , EVEN A WATER CUP, we got in our uber and went to whataburger , where we enjoyed a nice sober meal. ( haha) Anyways , moral of the story is these guys are pretty shitty and will NEVER be receiving my business again. SERVING SOMEONE WATER SHOULD NOT BE A CHORE. Good god, customer service is not dead people !!!
google avatar

Amrita J.

Yelp
So to stay with my Vegan kick for the day, I tried Arlos thanks to my friend being hungry after a night out on Rainey. They had gotten the Cheeseburger with fries, and let me have a bite. You would not believe this was not real meat! I literally was craving it the next day....that's how badly I wanted it again, and a testimony for how amazing the burger was. I don't know what it's made of, but it is just as juicy and flavorful as a regular burger you wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. I joked with my friend and told them if I keep hanging out with them and going to all these Vegan places they may just convert me over......had NO idea that vegan food was or could be this delicious!! It's a food truck outside of Good Luck Charlie's. Great for a late night run or during the day I imagine.
google avatar

Meghana N.

Yelp
The chicken tacos were good especially with whatever crack they put in that sauce it comes with. Also side note you gotta be 21 to go order food because it's apart of the club right next to it! Still fire tacos tho.
google avatar

A'Lissa O.

Yelp
I admit it: I read the reviews and I doubted. I thought, "Can it really be that good?" I'm here to tell you, yes it can! Hamburger heaven! Whether you are vegan or not this burger will knock your socks off. The perfect combination of flavors and textures. The patty is crispy and flavorful. The bun soft and set. Even the vegan cheeze is fantastic. Every aspect of this burger is spot on. And get the sweet potato fries for just $2 more. Doubt not. Fear not. Simply believe!
google avatar

Lacy H.

Yelp
THE VERY BEST VEGAN BURGER IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, period. Apparently I have to write more for this to be considered a review, so I'll share that the first time I tried this I was nearly brought to tears. It's the type of burger that probably has a cult following if 1 (me).
google avatar

Diana X.

Yelp
The pulled pork was really good but the bacon cheeseburger was really iffy, tasted too much like the real cheeseburger and too many pickles/ tomatoes not to my taste. The fries were very unsalted and bland. Would not come again but fun to try.
google avatar

Josh B.

Yelp
Pretty good food in general, major plus that it's all vegan. Came here for dinner on a Monday night and the place was pretty empty. Located in one of the outdoor corners of Cheer Up Charlie's, it took me a while to figure out where this food truck was located exactly. I ordered the Chik'n Tacos and a side of Sweet Fries. The fries were perfectly crispy and had just the right amount of salt on them. The vegan tacos were pretty convincing, if I hadn't known beforehand that they weren't real meat I probably would not have noticed. Definitely worth checking out!
google avatar

Felicia C.

Yelp
Sings:: ohhh my gosh.. Y'all! I could not come to Austin without vegan tacos and any vegan junk food that I could find. We were walking along When we stumbled upon Arlos and when I tell you I wanted one of everything!!!!! I am not lying because I could not choose. My friend got tacos (told me she wasn't sharing when I said let's both get something different and share)... and I got Mac n Cheese and Frito Pie. I guess my friend got ahead of herself because she was full after one taco and the Mac n cheese... that's how big their servings are. The Mac n cheese was delicious and the FRITO PIE WAS THEE BEST FRITO PIE IVE EVEEERRRRR HAD!!! EVER! I stopped a couple of times thinking to myself, "There no way that this is vegan"... I wouldn't change a thing.big I could go back again I would definitely get a burger with chili AND Mac n cheese on it. See y'all soon!
google avatar

Ashley P.

Yelp
I am not vegan but I found the burgers here to be out of this world. I was pleasantly surprised because this was my first introduction to plant based foods. It tasted like a really great burger! The fries were great too and their sauce is phenomenal. I continue to frequent but I prefer to go in. Delivery has been a little lackluster but it's always solid when you go in!

kyle k.

Yelp
The food is amazing. Huge portions, awesome staff. The service was prompt and the setting outside is nice.
google avatar

Lara C.

Yelp
Austin is full of vegan options and this doesn't disappoint. Easily ordered online and was able to walk to pickup from their food truck on red river. We stayed at the Omni hotel. The bacon cheeseburger with mac hit the spot and gives you everything you want in a burger, it is possibly one of the best vegan burgers I've ever had. The tater tots were cooked perfectly and crunchy. The Frito burger was spicier then expected due to the chili and the fritos were soggy. Would recommend asking for the Fritos on the side if you aren't eating outside at the food truck so you can add them when it is time to eat. A warning about the chili would have been nice since we would have asked for that on the side. The sweet potato fries were perfectly cooked making it a nice sweet and salty fry.
google avatar

Alex A.

Yelp
Arlo's is a simple place with good food and a straightforward menu. I really liked the bacon burger and thought it was pretty solid. The Mac and cheese is heavy on the nutritional yeast flavor and was sort of dry. They're fast and good food.
google avatar

Avni A.

Yelp
Based on the raving reviews, decided to check this vegetarian food truck out! First off, it's located in a sketchy area near the dirty 6th Street. We came during the day time and my boyfriend was with me, so felt safe. The menu consists of burgers and tacos. They use fake meat and vegan cheese/Mayo. I decided to try the bacon cheeseburger which came with vegan cheese, veggie patty, 2 strips of the meatless bacon, tomato, lettuce, and mayo. There was a family of 5 that ordered prior to us so the wait for us to receive food took about 15 minutes. Once we got the food, I loved my bacon cheeseburger and only wished there was more bacon in it. The veggie patty wasn't as flavorful and the mayo in the burger was skim. I wish more was put in so the burger didn't taste dry. Overall it was a solid meatless food truck but not the most amazing food ever. I still prefer veggie grill..
google avatar

Devika G.

Yelp
Tried this location of arlos for the first time. I personally really enjoyed the taste of the vegan bacon burger (around $9) ~ I also tried the vegan chicken sandwich from the truck next door and it was more grandiose as in it was huge and had a lit sparkler on it (with onion rings for $14) than arlos but the taste of arlos sandwich was way better. The service was good and very friendly and they didn't charge me when I asked for some extra sauce. Not a vegan but I'd definitely eat it again.
google avatar

Karime H.

Yelp
Does anybody know when this location is actually opened? I used to go to their old location by 7th street regularly. When I saw they relocated I went to this location and it was closed although it was during their open hours. I went again a couple months after. I made sure they were open by looking at their website but they were still closed. I've driven by there during the day and at night in hopes that they're open (like their website/google saids) but every time they have been closed. Either I'm missing something, or this location really really needs to update their hours.
google avatar

Yelp
While in Austin for work my coworker and I (both vegan) came here immediately and it was an amazing introduction to Austin. We shared and cheese and while I got the bbq burger she got the bacon burger. Both were delicious!! It's a cute food truck set up with a simple all vegan menu at decent prices. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Austin!
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
I wanted to review about how good the food is here but unfortunately the owner of the food truck is horrible to the employees.
google avatar

Liora K.

Yelp
Would rate 3.5 if I could, tasted very vegan. Buns were burnt. Fast service. Slutty vegan in Atlanta set my expectations to high.
google avatar

Lila P.

Yelp
Super yummy! I got the frito pie with jalapeños. It was $7 which is extremely reasonable for vegan unprocessed foods. I'm full but I don't feel gross like I would with a normal chili. Recommend and will be going back!
google avatar

Casey T.

Yelp
I took my vegan friend here on a whim while she was visiting Austin. Me, being a dedicated carnivore, had never really had vegan food before and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the street tacos and fries, and the street tacos were so flavorful that I almost forgot about the lack of meat. The fries also had the perfect texture and the portion size was decent for the amount of money it cost. My friend ordered the frito pie and mac and cheeze and said that it was the best frito pie that she's had. The mac and cheeze did have a really strong tumeric taste to it and was a little greasy, so if that's not your cup of tea I would probably pass on it. I'm definitely going to return here to try out their famous vegan burgers!
google avatar

Erica H.

Yelp
Oh boy! $50 on vegan burgers, Mac 'n cheese, tots and fries with NO regrets. (The food isn't really that pricey, we just ordered tons of it) When you're vegetarian (or vegan) most restaurants assume you're doing it to be healthy. Which leads to most veggie burgers being a glorified salad between two buns. Arlos gives the people what they want! They top their amazing patties with Mac 'n cheese and bacon (all vegan!)- and the TOTS! More places definitely need to serve tots. Definitely, a must stop if you're ever in Austin. Check out the pictures if you need more convincing ;)

Yelp
If you're looking for a vegan burger that cures your 5 guys craving here it is, and it's even better! I was blown away with how comparable the two were. Especially as everything on their truck is 100% vegan. I've been vegan for only about 6 months now so it's nice to find options that still cure my crazy cravings!
