Armand’s in Silver Spring Has Slung Its Last Chicago-Style Pizza Pie - Eater DC

"Silver Spring stalwart Armand’s Chicago Pizzeria has closed after nearly three decades in business. An Armand’s employee confirmed the closure. The spot was beloved for its Chicago-style deep-dish pizza and was known for its dedication to serving local beers. The restaurant was a family destination, offering kid-friendly activities such as movie showings and a pizza-making station." - Alison Baitz

They still have excellent pizza after all these years. I became a fan in College Park in the late 80’s and it is still an awesome slice. The lunch special was a great value today too. Service was good. It took about 10 minutes to get two slices to go. I will return for sure.

Been a huge fan of Armand's pizza since the early 90s. They deliver too which is a huge perk. Generally service is good. When I went in early on a Saturday afternoon it was pretty empty, and my young server was more seemed interested in hoods and his buddies mobile device and chilling with the other staff, than noticing me, even when after I waved. To be fair though, I am prejudice against seeing any one serving food to me using their phone... to me it's a hygiene concern on top of being rude. HOWEVER... there was a good manger there, that kept providing feedback, and making sure I was attended too. All staff was friendly, even when hurried, and of course the food was delicious. To me this is a local landmark that I hope stays around for a very time.

This place is awesome for classic sci-fi nights! It's a little small, but they have several TV screens so everyone in our group had a good view, plus the sound system was good. It felt like getting to eat pizza in a movie theater, with just a small amount of respectful chatting. A really fun experience. I had the thin crust pizza and really like it. The owner was very conscientious.

Dined in on a Saturday night. It was my first time trying Armand's but I was not disappointed. Boyfriend ordered buffalo wings with ranch & he very much enjoyed them. We order a deep dish pizza & we'd never had deep dish, but it was delicious! Very hot. The staff was very friendly & attentive. Definitely a neighborhood gem!

Pizzas are pretty big for the price, and filling. Never too doughy, and they're never stingy with the toppings. I don't order out much, but you can't go wrong with some deep dish style from here. The Hawaiian pie is particularly good.

People were nice but service was lacking. There are no paper towels on the table and no one offered me any either. The pizza was a bit bland. The sauce didnt have much flavor nor did the crust. AND it was awfully shallow for "Chicago deep dish". Would not recommend.

Twice I have come in on a Sunday evening at 8 pm (hour before closing) only to find the “open” sign turned off and the tables cleared of condiments, silverware and plates. Even though there were 5 or 6 tables full of people, the staff started stacking chairs on top of the other tables and sweeping dirt past us while we tried to eat. Even some of the inside lights were turned off. We gave the waitress our order for drinks, salad and pizza all at one time since it was obvious they wanted us out of there. The food came but there was no silverware or napkins, or even a slicer to get the pizza out of the pan. Drinks were not refilled without us asking repeatedly. There was no offer of dessert and the check was brought with the pizza. I had stopped glom game here for about eight months because of bad service. I returned hoping it would be better. Instead, it’s worse. I’ll spend my money elsewhere.

This place not only sucks, it downright stinks. The cheese is cold and disgusting by the time you wait 45 minutes for your appetizers. There was nothing appetizing about the appetizers. This was the second time I showed up to give this local joint a shot. What pathetic excuse for a "food oriented" environment. Lackluster, slow and unprofessional staff coupled with, frankly, disgusting food. I ordered cheese bread thinking that this pizza place could deliver something decent to start. The cheese bread was literally just cold cheese on bread. It was not toasted or warm. The pizza crust on the "deep dish" was dry and chalky. How on earth does beer take 45 minutes to reach the table along with this disgusting crap? Bottom line: I've given this place enough fair chances. Skip this, order a pizza from a chain and call it a day.
