The Best Indian Restaurants Around Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"Aroma does strong renditions of South Indian favorites, including mega-super-giant-sized dosas that are as entertaining to look at as they are enjoyable to eat. The goat biryani truly does justice to the format by bringing remarkable layers of complexity, depth, and savory goodness. There are some surprising and enjoyable highlights sprinkled throughout the menu, too, including almost croissant-like flakey paratha and an okra stir-fry that’s almost too rich to eat on its own (that is, of course, what the rice is for)." - James Norton

Aroma Indian Cuisine makes super delicious Indian food at reasonable prices. We had the Chicken Seekh Kabob and the Chicken Vindaloo and both were excellent. The flavors are rich, well-spiced, and really satisfying. The portions are very generous too, which makes it great value for the price. It’s very easy to order takeout or delivery, and everything travels well. The restaurant itself isn’t my first choice for dining in, but they have a big menu with a lot of great options. The service is very friendly and ease of ordering was great, which makes the experience even better. Overall, a great go-to for takeout or delivery when you want really good Indian food without paying a premium.

Seriously the best indian food ive ever had, tastes so good, authentic, and huge portions, always have at least 2 meals at home when i take home. The atmosphere is very calming and unique. Always recommending to friends and coworkers.

Been here so many times and the food is SO GOOD every time!! This is my favorite and go-to Indian spot, I can't recommend it enough. Curries are so flavorful and the chicken is always perfectly cooked (a problem I've had with other places is overcooked chicken but that is not the case here). And the service has always been great. Love this restaurant!

Aroma is a solid spot in Minneapolis for authentic Indian flavors, especially if you’re focused on takeout rather than a sit-down experience. The food stands out much more than the ambience, so go in with that expectation and you’re likely to be happy. ## Food quality The food is genuinely authentic and well-seasoned, across both starters and main courses. The various appetizers and curries we tried were consistently flavorful rather than “Americanized,” which is a big plus if you’re looking for real Indian taste. The mango drink (mango lassi/shake) was refreshing and paired well with the meal. ## Drinks and extras They also serve masala chai, which is worth trying if you enjoy Indian-style tea with spices. It adds a nice, homely touch and rounds off the meal nicely, especially on a cold day. ## Ambience and dining The ambience is quite basic and feels more like a takeaway counter than a place for a relaxed dine-in outing. Seating and atmosphere are functional rather than cozy, so it’s not ideal if you’re looking for a special sit-down experience. ## Best way to enjoy it This is a place to go primarily for the food, not for the vibe. If you’re craving good Indian food in Minneapolis, it’s definitely one of the better options to try, but opting for takeout will likely give you the best overall experience.

Came here because we were in the mood for Indian food. Overall, it was good, but not great. The samosas were a bit undercooked, and the sequencing of food was way off as there were 10 minute gaps between dishes. It wasn't busy as there were only three tables, including ours, during our time in the restaurant. The biryani was spicy, and the dal was not, even though we wanted it to be. That said, the flavors were good, and our dishes were prepared to order. I probably won't be coming back, but I would recommend giving Aroma a try.

Just ordered food today, the containers are like 70% full. You can see I just opened the box and took these photos. It looks like someone ate in this already… also there is a burned piece of rice. Very disappointed. Called to let them know, but wanted to warn others so that this changes.

Very good food. We ordered more than we could finish. Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was also great. We will be back.

The food here if you request can be very traditional, if you love South Indian cuisine, its one the more authentic restaurants i have been to. I like to avoid eating out, however it's important to meet friends at places we love to share a meal we all agree we like. This is one of those places. The Host was polite, walked us through the menu with recommendations.
