One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in York! We visited with friends on Friday evening. We were offered seats at the bar but opted to go straight to our table. The seats are really comfortable- a novelty these days, but perhaps that says more about my aging bones! Drinks were quickly sorted and canapés arrived shortly after - 3 each, all lovely! We went for the a la carte option, although the tasting menu sounded great! An amuse bouche of “cheesy chips” was next whilst the boys discussed wines with Johnny….a real enthusiast for his job (who wouldn’t be) but none of the pomp and snobbery that often goes with Sommeliers. If you’re open minded about what you have he’s the guy to encourage you to try something new - and I can only guess that he rarely gets it wrong! Without meaning to underplay the food, I’ll let the pics speak for themselves. Each dish is carefully curated by Adam and his team and they all hit the spot. The cheese trolley is a piece of art and the crackers and accompaniments an absolute delight! I cannot speak highly enough of the whole team. We had a taster menu with matching wines. Incredible experience. Each course was described with meticulous detail. The food was amazing and service was exceptional. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Visited on a recommendation for partner's birthday. We decided on two course lunch and it was fantastic. The food itself was a work of art with so much flavour. Service was impeccable; attentive but not intrusive. We could have paid similar for a two course lunch elsewhere and it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good. Can't wait to visit again!

Always excellent. Lunch is amazing value for the quality of the food you get. The menu is interesting and delicious every time. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine. And make sure you save some room for the petit fours. And the cheese. (you'll need a lot of room for the latter).
