7 New Can’t-Miss Restaurants in San Antonio

"The Italian comfort food restaurant in the Pearl serves up a cozy menu full of house-made pastas and baked goods. The trattoria’s dishes range from thick spaghetti with braised lamb shank to crispy salmon puttanesca with capers and garlic. For people who’d rather let the kitchen choose, there’s a daily three-course meal available. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Ben Gonzalez

Arrosta is sister company with Allora, both Italian cuisine restaurants located at The Pearl. We went Monday evening to celebrate my husband’s birthday - we made reservations the day before for a party of 10 and they were able to accommodate us. The service and the food was outstanding. Some of the food portions are quite large - everyone finished their meals and was extremely happy with them. They don’t have a full bar, so they didn’t have mixed drinks but they do offer wines. The focaccia was divine, a must try!

Stopped by for dinner on a Sunday evening. It wasn't crowded, but for some reason they squeezed all the two-top tables in the same section while the other areas were empty. Tables were extremely close with no more than 6-8 inches apart. Ordered 2 glasses of wine, but they were both out, so ordered another wine and cocktail. Started off with the Toscana soup which was good and had a nice kick. For the meal, ordered the eggplant parmigiana and lasagna bolognese. They both came out within 2-3 minutes which was a little concerning. They weren't bad, but tasted as were sitting in a heating pan and served from there. For dessert, ordered the bread pudding which was surprisingly good. It was the best part of the meal. The bread pudding went well with the 3 scoops of salted caramel ice cream. After paying, the waiter lost my credit card and it took them about 10 minutes to finally find it on the ground where he dropped it. It was an honest mistake, just a little frustrating. Hopefully was just an off night and my next trip will be better.

Excited for restaurant week, we dressed up and went to a classy Italian restaurant for dinner called “ Arrosta”. Upon walking in the Hostess walked up to us with a forced smile and said what can I do for you ( in my mind I said seat us and feed us) but instead I paused for a few seconds and said we have reservations for 830. While she was verifying it on the computer I told her that I was a little taken back when you asked what can I do for you. Then she giggled and said she didn’t want to sound rude by saying ….. I said to myself but what you just did was extremely rude. At that point I should have asked for the manager. Hopefully she wasn’t the manager. That was not proper etiquette, either she was poorly trained or she had a bad attitude. What happened to saying, Good evening, thanks for coming in tonight. … Hi ( with a warm smile) party of two … Do you have reservations ? The delivery of the Greeting is the initial rapport that is built with your guest. We had the 3 course dinner ( starter, pasta and dessert) that was designated for culinary week ($35 per person). The course consists of the Assorta salad, Puttanesca pasta dish and lemon tiramisu. The pasta dish does not come with a protein. The options to add a protein is extra. We added salmon to one of the puttanesca pasta dishes for $14; however, you can add chicken or shrimp to it as well. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the flavor of the puttanesca was amazing. As soon as we completed our salads, the entree ( puttanesca pasta) was brought to our table by the hostess. What I was displeased with was the puttanesca dish was not hot, it was barely warm, the pasta was already sticking together because the top half was already cold. I informed our waiter Jacoby and asked for some more sauce so I can pour it on top of my pasta to make it hot. I watched the cook as Jacoby informed her. Jacoby returned to to tell me give her 2-3 minutes and he will bring me the sauce. The cook (she) never came over to my table to apologize, never made eye contact with me. Then I saw in her hands a large sealed bag of premade sauce and she poured it into a sauce pan to heat up. At this time it was approximately 9:30 and the staff was breaking down the kitchen for closing. In about 2 minutes Jacoby returned to my table with a bowl of ready made sauce. We added 3 spoonfuls of sauce to our dish and it still fell short of the desired heat level. Next I had our waiter to box up my food and the sauce and told him I will just take it home and heat it up in the microwave or make some more pasta to go with the sauce. Jacoby was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the wines and pairing it with our meal. Before ordering he offered to bring sample (s) of wine to taste and we did oblige and ended up having a glass of that very same wine. The Arrosta salad was amazing ( very similar to a Caesar salad) and the Lemon Tiramisu was decadent. I must admit I was surprised that some form of bread ( which is usually a staple at Italian restaurants ) was not bought to the table to eat with our meal. I asked for some bread and we received one piece of bread ( toast) cut diagonally that was very hard. Took a couple of bites of it and then just put it down. We were charged $4 for that piece of toast. Also our salads and pasta dishes were served with powdered Parmesan cheese instead of freshly grated cheese ( table side). It would have been more suitable for us ( the guest) to regulate the amount of cheese we wanted on our dishes. I never would have had that much powdered cheese if any on my pasta & salad only freshly grated Parm. The presentation of the puttanesca made a horrible photo and was not accompanied with any sort of garnish. Despite the lukewarm pasta, I appreciated the restaurant decor and ambiance.

Google
Hands down the best Italian food I’ve ever had. All made from scratch. Not a single scrap of food left on mine nor my husbands plates! I got the Chefs 3 course Dinner with the Arrosta starter (phenomenal Caesar salad), fettuccine entree, and Carmelized Bread Pudding for dessert while the hubby got the Steak and gnocchi entree which was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere and service were also great. I wish I could scream from the rooftops how amazing this place was! 10/10 RECOMMEND!

Google
Beautiful restaurant with quality staff. The only part I wasn’t particularly a fan of was the food. It was good, just not a hit in my book. I would give it props for being different though. So if you enjoy experimenting, give this place a try and see if you like it. Maybe you will.

Google
What a great find. Food was excellent. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The place had a very European feel to it. The wine selection is limited, but they have an excellent selection. Food selections are amazing. We hope to be back. With the parking garage next door, the restaurant is easy access. Highly recommend.

Google
Pretty fancy looking place without the fancy price. Bar area is nice with full service. The actual tables are very small. I recommend the lasagna and chicken Parm. Biggest chicken Parm I've ever seen. Fettuccine Alfredo is better without the chicken.

William Schaefer

Google
Food was extremely flavorful. The lasagna had just enough of a kick to it to unlock a lot of flavor. The lamb with the spaghetti was tender. Nice oversized cups of cappuccino for dessert. Only issue is the size of the tables. Small and round limiting the overall space.

Yelp
This place was a super enjoyable experience to dine at. It was a little hard to actually get into, physically. We approached from the side that had their outdoor seating and were told to go around to the main entrance by the server, which was located within the larger bank building. However, the doors were locked so we spent a few minutes going back and forth until we finally just entered via the patio area and just let the host know we had a reservation. The service was good. It was quite busy when we visited, but for the amount of people there I can't complain. The open kitchen is always a fun watch while you're dining, and the restaurant itself is nice and bright and lends itself to a meal filled with conversation. We ordered the Arrosta chicken parmigiana, spinach orecchiette alla vodka, and the pork meatballs. To start, it's very clear why they won a meatball of the year award and proudly display it in the restaurant. They were so tender and flavorful. Snag a piece of basil and some sauce with each bite, its worth it. The chicken parm is humongous. I have never seen a serving that large, and boy was it good. It had a crisp breading, and the chicken itself was nice a juicy & not dry at all. Again, the sauce and the basil add a nice touch alongside the melted cheese on top. Lastly, the spinach orcchiette was my favorite dish of the three. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce was absolutely delicious. We would grab a piece of meatball and combine it with the bite of the pasta and could not be more satisfied with the outcome. Definitely recommend checking this place out for Italian food in the Pearl!

Yelp
I used to frequently eat here and enjoy it, but my last visit I was turned away due to their lack of server staff. Yikes. I've never seen a local eatery do something this extreme and frankly, other restaurants in that area probably wouldn't have handled the situation this way. True bummer. In the restaurant business, you're only as good as your last meal. Sadly, based on this situation, this was our last visit.

Yelp
ATMOSPHERE: We (group of 4) went here for the first time. The place is very nice and the atmosphere is excellent. Soothing jazz was perfectly amplified throughout the night. The entire stretch of kitchen can be seen from most seats in the restaurant which adds openness to the space. SERVICE: The service was friendly, respectful, and professional, although we experienced a few problems. One of us ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo, but it was delayed about 20-30 minutes after the rest of our food arrived due to an unknown mistake. As well, it was ordered with chicken and came without. The staff did take off the meal, which was nice. Also, the chairs are not comfortable... FOOD: The Fettuccine Alfredo that came late had a bit too much garlic and salt for us, but was pretty standard other than that. The Rotisserie Half Chicken was well-seasoned and tasted fantastic. It also came with a nice portion of potatoes. Best if you're hungry. The Orecchiette Alla Vodka was great. A little spicy but for us, just enough to add a little kick but not too much to overpower the other flavors. Finally, my Spaghetti Alla Chitarra was excellent and flavorful. A bit of a small portion for dinner in my eyes, but a great taste. Similar to a lamb stew on top of spaghetti. DRINKS: Very good wine and a short cocktail list but some nice, slightly exotic options. Overall, a very nice place with some good food. We think it was worth it, but some items are much better than others.

Yelp
Omg, so good. We stopped in for restaurant week and ordered the restaurant week special, which was a chef's selection of appetizer, entree and dessert for $35. Apparently they do this every day, not just for restaurant week, which is great because we can come back whenever! The special for the day was caesar salad, fettuccine alfredo, and a lemon tiramisu. We added shrimp to the fettuccine and ordered a chicken parmigiana and shared everything. First of all, this is the best caesar salad my husband and I have ever had. Just try it. The fettuccine was freshly made and the alfredo sauce was light but packed with flavor. The chicken parmigiana was insanely huge and actually reminded me more of a giant chicken fried chicken. Everything was very tasty. The restaurant is very small and half of it is occupied by an open kitchen. We enjoyed the ambiance and thought it was cool to see the kitchen as we enjoyed our meal. Because the restaurant is small, the seating is very close together and the tables are small. We didn't mind. I will say the only negative is that we did feel a bit rushed through our meal. Although service was excellent, each course was brought out before we were finished with the previous and we are not particularly slow eaters. The check was brought out and processed with lightning speed as well lol. But I understand, it's a small restaurant so table turnover is important. The menu choices were more Italian-American but the flavors were authentically Italian and made with fresh ingredients. We'll definitely return.

Yelp
We made a last minute decision to go out for Italian and ended up choosing Arrosta and was not disappointed. We chose to sit at the bar stools facing the open kitchen. We enjoyed watching the food prep and visiting with the chefs. Our waitress, Bobbi, was great and the food was fantastic. The chicken Parmesan was huge. I mean huge! Never seen a chicken fried chicken breast dish big enough for four or more people! The fry on the chicken was tasty. The pasta was fantastic and the prosciutto and buratta was also delicious. The highlight of the evening was visiting with Chef Gio. He checked in on us frequently with a big smile and sincerity. He made sure our meals were perfect and even gave us a sample of the to-die-for salted caramel gelato!

Yelp
Disappointing. Shoulder to shoulder seating, slow food service (40m to get one appetizer) and how do you run out of Cabernet on a Friday at 7:30pm? The staff is attentive and great at apologizing, probably because of constant practice. The place has potential. They Need leadership, a chef that can expedite the orders and/or revise the menu to stay on time. And please get someone to do inventory. Running out of essentials on a weekend service is just embarrassing. And to go above and beyond rethink your sitting. Best of luck

Yelp
Came in for Culinaria's Restaurant Week. Supporting a good cause and enjoying some delicious food. We came early, before the lunch rush. We were seated and placed our order. The wait staff was tentative and our salad and entrees came out quickly. But dessert...took a Looonnnggg time to be served! It's is a prix fixe menu with only two options, ice cream or a slice of tiramisu, why would it take 15 minutes to come out of an open concept The food was really good but I'm not sure that the wait is worth it, if it wasn't for the Restaurant Week event.

Yelp
Artista is 10/10. The first time I went was with my boyfriend and we had the burrata, the chicken parm and the eggplant parm and we both had a glass of white wine. The wine was really good, the food was not only delicious but in large portions -- which is not always the case-- and the price was really good. For such high end food and service, the price was really affordable. I chose this place for a friend dinner with 12 guests, and it was just the right amount of noisy and our server was amazing with all of our different drinks and food. Definitely will be visiting again !

Yelp
I finally got to try arrosta recently and really enjoyed it. I had come here awhile ago when it was more of a coffee and lunch spot but it looks like they recently changed up their menu for the better. They now have some authentic, honlmemade italian dishes and recently launched Flatbread options. We were seated quickly with no reservations but we also went during the middle of the week so it wasn't overly busy but still had a decent crowd. I'll start by saying that I absolutely love the interior of this restaurant. Double height windows with lots of natural light, open kitchen, and nice tile. I definitely get a modern Mediterranean vibe which instanly transports you to where the food will take you. We tried one of the flabreads that had pepperoni inside. It was like an inverted pizza, a great way to start the meal. We shared the lamb spaghetti which was a recommendation from our server. The flavor was nicely developed in this dish and we finished every inch of it. I love when you can tell a restaurant makes their own pasta. For dessert we tried the lemon tiramisu. It wasn't too heavy or too sweet and the acidity was appreciated. Overall, I really enjoyed this place and will definitely make a return. They also validate parking in the garage behind the building, so that's a plus!

Yelp
I finally got the chance to eat here. They have limited hours, but now that they are open for lunch, there's more opportunities to go. I made reservations. The place is smaller than I imagined, but there's still plenty of tables. They also have outside seating. We started with the meatballs and the marinated Marcona almonds and olives. The olives were delicious. The meatballs are aware winning and a good appetizer. We also shared the Caesar salad and mixed field greens. Both a good size. Four of us shared the two and we had left over. Both salads were good in their own way. My favorite was the mixed field greens with blackberries, pecans and goat cheese. I had the eggplant parmigiana with a side of pasta. The tomato sauce that accompanied the pasta and eggplant parmesan was delicious. I wish I had bread to dip it in. My friend had the chicken parmigiana. The serving could feed a small family. It was huge. Perfectly fried too. We shared the lemon tiramisu. We all agreed it wasn't the best flavor combination. Think of drinking coffee with a hint of lemon. They don't have liquor based cocktails. They have wine and a handful of wine based cocktails. I had the Amore Mio. Not too sweet. Good flavor. Staff was friendly. Parking is available in the parking garage in the same building. They do validate for 1.5 hours. You do have to take your ticket down with you.

Yelp
The food was very good! Especially the Ceasar salad! The pasta was perfectly cooked and portions were big which is a plus! Perfect for sharing. The dessert wasn't too sweet and melted in your mouth! The restaurant was really clean and welcoming. I'll be back for more!

Yelp
We saw this featured on a local news restaurant review show and we had to try, and so glad we did. It's located just east of the Pearl district in the bottom of a bank and business building. We were warmly greeted by our waiter who ran us through the menu with excellent suggestions. EVERYTHING is made on site and it showed. We had a Burrata appetizer with the fried toast which I would have again. We decided on the recommended Mortadella flatbread which was delicious. The Mortadella is folded inside the bread with cheese and the bread was baked perfectly; crispy with bubbles. We are coming back to try one of the pasta entrees. A new favorite place for us!

Yelp
If in the Pearl area, Arrosta is located on the Broadway street side and is offering one of the most elevated lunch options in the vicinity. The space is industrial meets cozy with rounded tables and giant windows facing the street. There is also a long bar for solo diners. The lunch menu is robust with items like seared salmon puttanesca and braised lamb pasta. Pasta is housemade as witnessed on my last visit. It's very apparent Arrosta takes pride in their dishes, as everything is made to order from scratch. For a quick bite they offer a nice assortment of flatbreads, salads, even a grilled cheese and tomato soup. For $30 at lunch they have a special with a starter, chef choice main and dessert. A steal and nice way to try out this wonderful place. Open for lunch Mon to Fri 11AM to 230PM. Weekends reserved for dinner service 5 to 10PM.

Yelp
TIP: Reservations. This girl went on a Monday night and it was busy! They offer Credit Human bank parking (backside entrance) and will validate for 1.5 hrs of free parking. Started with a red wine. Unfortunately, they were very low on stock. Ok :( Moved onto the focaccia bread. I loved the bread ... smothered in honey and butter. It was not really focaccia as it was almost flatbread thin .. but oh it was good! They needed to serve with wipes as the honey was everywhere. Lasagna as the main dish. Loved the sauce ... thick, herby, and rich in flavor. My personal preference is that I like more cheese than pasta. Yet it tasted wonderful. Finished up with lemon tiramisu and coffee. Yes lemon sounds strange but if you are a lemon lover like me ... it has a mild, slightly sweet lemon flavor. Yum!! Service was good. Atmosphere is somewhat upscale diner-like.

Yelp
Went to Arrosta at Pearl tonight for dinner ... everything was Amazing!! The chicken parmigiana was the bomb Best one we had ever had !! My picture does absolutely no justice to this huge entree. It is lightly battered & perfectly seasoned. The veal meatballs were delicious as well !! The staff was great and the old school jams they were playing was a bonus Highly recommend!! Definitely will be back !!

Yelp
Food is amazing here ! Small place looked bigger then it truly is - I enjoyed the atmosphere- good energy vibes! Food was excellent- the flavors are so rich -mouth watering! Recommend for sure !

Yelp
I visited Arrosta for the first time with my friend a couple of days ago. It's a quaint little corner spot that's simple but classy. The service was very friendly. We were seated immediately. I started with a shrimp scampi appetizer that was accompanied by some garlic sourdough bread. It was really delicious. So much flavor packed into the shrimp. My entrée was chicken fettuccine Alfredo. It was devine!! The chicken was so tender and flavorful, and the noodles were so soft and buttery. It was like eating silk. For dessert I had the salted caramel gelato. That's probably the best gelato I've ever had in my life. Sweet and salty with just the right amount caramel. It melted in my mouth. I'm ready to visit again.

Yelp
We enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at Arrosta. The seating is our only complaint since you are in very close quarters of other guests. It felt as if we were having dinner with the couple next to us. Aside from that, we enjoyed everything else. Hector was our waiter and he was very attentive and made great menu recommendations. We had the burrata and prosciutto with sourdough toast for an appetizer then my husband had the Pilsner and I had the blonde ale. For dinner, my husband has the steak with mashed potatoes since they were out of gnocchi and I had the pasta with vodka sauce and added chicken. Everything was delicious! It was really cool watching the chef call out the orders and seeing them prepare your food. Overall, it was quaint and cozy and we are excited to come back to try their pizza.

Yelp
My first experience at Arrosta would have been 4 out of 5 stars. We had great service and the food was excellent; however if you are going with a party that is larger than 4, the seating is awkward. My second trip I made reservations for a large group. If you have a group of 10 or more, they require you to sign a contract and have a credit card on file. The day after I got the contract I had a few cancellations, so my group was now less than 10. I called the restaurant 4 times to change my reservations and ask if I still needed to sign the contract. The first call I left a message with someone. The other times NO ONE answered the phone, so I left 2 messages. I did not receive a call back. The private events person never reached out about my contract either. The evening of the dinner we showed up and they didn't have my reservation They did find seating for us in front of the kitchen, which was great! The kitchen staff is fun to watch and nice to talk to during the meal. They also provided us a bottle of Prosecco for our inconvenience. However, our server was extremely overwhelmed and rude to our group. Our meal took 3 hours, that was without appetizers or dessert. I'm not sure why they are on the Culinaria restaurant list, as they only provided the normal chefs special, which was the same as the first time I went. Overall, I am disappointed in how my large group experience went and no one has bothered to call me. I also do not recommend for Culinaria's restaurant week. Would I recommend this place? Maybe. If you are a table of 2, this is probably the place for you. The food is good and it makes for a great place for a date. It is loud which makes talking in a bigger group difficult.

Yelp
True to its title, arrosta is comfort Italian and you can say that from the first bite. We ordered shrimp scampi for the table and I got the chicken parmesan for dinner. My goodness, the entree was so huge!! I had to tell the waitress to portion it for me and box up the rest as soon as she brought it to the table! Both the scampi and the parmesan were pretty good. However, I was disappointed with the dessert, as their chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream didn't cut it for me. The cake was not moist at all, which made it taste okayish. The service was good and I do recommend to check out this spot!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience here. It's clear that this restaurant is high quality and puts a lot of attention into their food. Service and fast and friendly, and it wasn't super busy but still full on a Friday night. We did make a reservation in advance just in case. They have an open kitchen concept where you can see them cooking the food, which I enjoyed observing. They allowed us to sample wines before choosing which one to get, and they're also known for their meatballs! Apparently they won best meatball of the year, and I can see why. We ordered the chicken parmeggiana and vodka orecchiette pasta with caramelized onions and spinach (if I remember correctly). The chicken parmeggiana was HUGE and delicious. The pasta was also delicious. My only issue was that the tables were quite small, so it's a little difficult to fit all of your plates. Otherwise, I had a great time here and look forward to returning for more date nights.
google avatar

Jennine K.

Yelp
Came for dinner with friends. Their Cesar salad is very good! I also liked the lasagna I ordered. The chicken Parm is huge, it could easily be shared by 2, especially with the side of pasta. My only negative is that service was very slow. We even waited a long time just to put our orders in, even though it wasn't that busy.
google avatar

Candra M.

Yelp
0 out of 5 stars unfortunately. Waited 2 hours for dinner celebrating a family member's birthday. Never got it. Everyone traveled from out of town to go experience this restaurant and enjoy the ambiance. We were abruptly informed by our waiter an hour and a half after placing our order that we simply would not be receiving our food because they no longer had any chefs available to cook. This left us driving around parts unknown randomly searching for another restaurant in efforts to salvage our loved ones bday dinner. Management never once came over nor did they respond to several messages/emails or offer any apology for our experience that night. Treat people how you would expect to be treated. Mishaps are bound to occur, don't be cowards and disrespect peoples time.

Yelp
We finally got to try Arrosta this week for an early lunch. We were met at the door by a very outgoing hostess and promptly seated, given water and menus almost immediately. What a fun menu! Our waiter came by to discuss menu options and make some suggestions. He warned about the huge portion size of the Chicken Parm and that Panini's were easily shareable. We opted for their Pork Meatball appetizer and shared a Spicy Italian Panini. OMG, everything was delicious!!! The meatballs (5) were served with a spicy red sauce with melted cheese. They were perfect. The Spicy Italian Panini was large and stuffed with meats and cheese. It was great to share and more than enough. As we were eating, our waiter walked by holding a huge plater of Chicken Parm for a nearby table. It looked fantastic and we'll return with friends to help us with that plate!!

Yelp
I like that it wasn't crowded, the ambience and the service was excellent. Focaccia and the Caesar salad was delicious, highly recommend. There was no bread bowl or olive oil and there wasn't pasta in some of the main dishes. A small portion of pasta can be added for eight dollars, we were quoted five dollars but the bill turned out higher. There is no kids menu. I would recommend the chicken Parmesan over the half baked chicken however the half baked chicken came with delicious whipped potatoes. The chicken Parmesan came with no sides just the chicken, sauce and cheese in a large portion. Lasagna was delicious but it came with no béchamel sauce and it was overlooked by the kitchen and came late, after dessert. Desserts: we ordered the lemon tiramisu and the chocolate cake which had hazelnut with it. Both were delicious. Overall I would've wanted more vegetables other than the salad to accompany my meals.

Yelp
Wow! This place is my new favorite Italian comfort food in San Antonio. The freshness, quality and seasoning is by far some of the best I've had. Everything is perfectly seasoned and HOT. Portions are very generous. Quality and quantity is both a factor. The service was great, sweet and friendly staff. My favorite part was that you're able to watch the cooks prepare your meal. The ambiance is nice and comfortable while maintaining an upper scale vibe. I've been here twice and tried the vodka spinach pasta dish that was also amazing. MUST TRY.

Yelp
First time at Arrosto and everything was amazing! Their namesake Caesar salad was so flavorful, I couldn't stop eating more of it. I ordered the braised lamb spaghetti and it was incredible. Their noodles are all made from scratch and we're the perfect consistency. The ambiance was classy casual, you could dress it up or show up in something simple. The menu is small, but the server was very informative and helpful with questions and recommendations. I didn't get a picture of my friend's chicken Parmesan, but it is MASSIVE!

Yelp
TikTok made me do it. Beautifully designed restaurant with gorgeous decor and ambient setting. I think they are fairly new as they did not have their liquor license yet, but they had a few sparkling drinks and wine options. Considering the location, setting and plating , the prices were reasonable. They also had vegetarian options available. We ordered the meat balls and they were super juicy and full of flavor. The focaccia bread was DELICIOUS, by far, my favorite dish of the evening. I ordered the salmon, and it was cooked medium and it had a good flavor. We ordered both of their sparkling drink options, and one of them had a very licorice taste to it (I had to send it back). The service was fair, our server seemed to be new as well and took a little longer than I liked, she also didn't know much about the menu or drink options. But the rest of the staff seemed to know, so it outweighed the newbie. Overall, it's definitely worth a try!

Yelp
My first experience at this restaurant was alright. We decided to try it while some friends were in town. We were a little confused by the entrance or where we could correctly enter. We found the door by the restroom that was unlocked, so we entered through there. The hostess told us that it was the incorrect entrance as she met us and led us to the hostess stand at the front. We were the ONLY customers in the restaurant. She then walked us back to where we just were at to sit us. And during the walk proceeded to tell us 2 more times that that door is not the entrance and it should have been locked. Not our problem. Move on. The table was dirty and there were ring marks from cups and residue from I'm guessing the day before, because they just opened. The server was great however. He was respectful and patient. He let us know right away that some items weren't available due to a delayed delivery. I appreciated the communication. For the most part the food was great! Chicken parmigiana, pizzete, fettuccine, and some starters. The soup was cold, and they easily replaced it.

Yelp
This place is amazing! This is the more casual sister restaurant of Allora. The focaccia bread appetizer is to DIE for! The pasta is amazing, definitely one of the best Italian restaurants in San Antonino !

Yelp
I really enjoyed this dinner. We went for the Culinaria week meal. I had been to their sister restaurant, Allora, and had wanted to try Arrosta. Culinaria is a great way to sample a place at a lower cost, but I'd pay full price. The pasta was fresh, the sauces were the perfect consistency, and the drink menu had a good selection. Everything from appetizer (GET THE FOCACCIA) to the dessert was delicious. It was also nice to watch the kitchen prep as it's an open kitchen. Great for parties, dates, and single-gal dinners!

Yelp
Amazing venue In the pearl!! Definitely recommend if looking for a nice Italian restaurant in the area. The menu is small, but the food is delicious and probably one of my top three favorite Italian restaurants in San Antonio. The service was very friendly and the staff was very accommodating and just make sure you make a reservation to be safe because there is not much seating, the outdoor area is pretty but it is not anything special. I would prefer indoor seating because you can see the kitchen area which is nice and they have big windows. Don't leave without trying their Nutella chocolate cake dessert it is delicious with the ice cream

Yelp
Arrosta is the spot for Italian food in San Antonio!!! Wow, I was completely blown away by this place. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants at The Pearl, by far. From the moment you walk in, there's great service and a really gorgeous, elevated yet casual, atmosphere. You can get really dressed up or can be casual. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The place is decorated very tastefully and you have a view into the kitchen watching chefs passionately whip up their delicious dishes. You can tell the chefs take pride in their work, and they should!! Everything we had was delicious. I got the chicken panini and my friend got the Chef Special which came with a salad, pasta of the day and dessert!! I've never had a panini like that - WOW. It was next level. And huge portions so it was my dinner too. The homemade potato chips were delicious! My friend's pasta was so so good and she got another one to go too. (I should've done the same!) The chicken alfredo was divine! They have so many amazing options on the menu, I can't wait to come back for the flatbreads, meatballs, wine, and more pasta! The desserts looked amazing too, my friend got the Nutella chocolate cake to go and she said it was delightful! I can't say enough good things about this place!!! Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and kind. Overall, an outstanding restaurant! I'm surprised I haven't heard more people talk about this place, but trust and know that I'll be spreading the word!!

Yelp
Amazing! It was the last day of Culinaria, which I hadn't planned for, so I got the mixed green salad, alla vodka pasta and Nutella chocolate cake. I'm not exaggerating when I can't even tell you what my favorite was. The pasta was so creamy and hot with a little spicy kick. I almost didn't order it because all the alla vodka pasta I have had in the past as been boring but this was not boring at all. The salad had sweet candied pecans and some kind of really salty cheese that was an amazing combination. My husband ordered a chicken parmigiana bigger than his head that was also amazing. Service was great and our waiter was really attentive. The restaurant itself is in such a cool building with great surroundings. Honestly, if you're close..come try it. If you're far.. get in a car and come try it.

Yelp
AMAZING food! Everything was great from the shrimp scampi to the chicken parm. My only complaint is the service. Our server came to our table maybe 2-3 times and we were often waiting for some of the things we asked for. We even had to ask the mgr for help because she took so long in coming to see what we needed. If it wasn't for the service, they would definitely be 5 stars! Also, they were out of diet soda. What?!??

Yelp
Driving down Broadway towards downtown, the cars seem to be busily rushing along, it's the first Friday afternoon of Summer. Arriving at Arrosta for the first time proved more than a challenge, but not entirely unexpected, my lunch companion was much older than I am, and I am not too far away from retirement years. I should note that with a caveat that even though I am close to retirement years there is a popular notion that you were supposed to save money throughout your life in order to retire, somehow that idea escaped me only until last year. As with this day and throughout most of my life, it seemed as if I have been and still do just jump through life's hoops one at a time as they keep presenting themselves with not so much a thought of the future and a great desire to not remember my past. We arrive off Broadway in front of the new yellow brick high-rise. Get my companion slowly out of the car. Leave car on Broadway. Look for the front door of the restaurant, and due to my rushing, we end up walking all the way around the restaurant through the building. I thought to myself, "I knew this wasn't going to be easy". However, we get seated, and since I am rushing, I tell the waiter to give my companion as close to a beer as a Shiner Bock as possible, and I will have the same. Leave my companion, back to the car, I already knew there was free parking in the parking garage off Ave B. Park the car, I see there was an attractive woman my age, who in the rush of everything had done the exact same routine as myself. As we walked towards the restaurant, she mentioned to me she knew what to do since it was her second visit. I opened the door at the entrance for her and let her know that her mother was seated close to my lunch companion, and that's when the seconds suddenly seem to take longer. I noticed the quiet, stark beauty of the restaurant. The space is accentuated by long vertical lines that stretch from the floor to what appears to be a twenty-foot ceiling. The tables consist of a warm reddish-brown hue of wood. A long white, gray, cool marble countertop runs along the left side of the restaurant. The expansive windows on the left-hand side of the restaurant transmit an ample amount of ambient light, and the view of the bustling traffic on Broadway makes this place seem as if it's a sanctuary from all that busyness of life. This is a place that is not meant for fast eating, because your view is of the smartly looking chef and assistants preparing each meal with a dedication to culinary success. This is a place where food as with life is to be enjoyed. Sipping our beers after ordering, we have a reminiscent conversation with the daughter and mother dual about the good times that were shared in the golden days of Nuevo Laredo: The Cadillac Bar, Turf Club, Marti's, and Deutsch's jewelry shop. We all agreed how much we missed the beauty of a dual cultural spot of diversity. Our waiter brought our food, as well as another very cold "Neato Bandito" from Deep Elum, and then suddenly "Pow", I viewed my food, and I thought that was the most amazing lunch I have seen in a very long time. I ordered the Porchetta Alla Rotisserie, which consisted of brown butter-cannellini bean puree, Tuscan kale, and highlighted with a pine relish. I eat out a lot, I go to some very nice restaurants, and I have enjoyed really good food, but I haven't enjoyed spectacular food in a very long time. I was reminded of that required reading while working on a MBA, Good to Great. There is a difference, and this place clearly knocked it out of the ballpark. My companion had the Chicken Panini, and since he never usually finishes most of his meal, I assumed his food was excellent since he ate the whole sandwich. We had a learning curve for our first experience, but now that we are in the know, we will be coming back much more often. Great food, good prices, quiet, somber architecture, and an overall pleasant experience of "San Antonio-European" culture (Not too far stretch of a term since the Spanish have been coming to this area since the early 18th century). All in all, this place is rising the San Antonio dining experience from good to great!

Yelp
I live across the street and had been wanting to try this place out. Think elevated fast food! Don't expected a 5 star meal you would get out of a sit down restaurant. This place targets the businessmen and women that work around the area that don't want cheap fast food and don't want to sit for a while at the pearl. I ordered the chicken with the creamy tomato soup and the panzarella with the ciabatta bread. My friend ordered the muffuletta. The chicken was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The soup was delicious and had pieces of what I thought to be either fried cheese or super crunchy bread. First time frying the panzarella and I enjoyed it, might have added a little bit more salt and pepper for my taste. The pesto on the muffuletta really made the sandwich! It's so good! Service was fine, the person behind the counter was very helpful throughout the ordering process. Everything came out pretty quick as you would expect from a place like this. Can't wait to come back for fast food food during lunch!

Yelp
The Toscana soup was a great recommendation. It was indeed very good. The shrimp scampi appetizer was a complete disappointment. The 5 (or just 4) small shrimps were overcooked and tasteless, sitting in a pool of oil that was also tasteless. Luckily the roasted garlic and toast that came with the scampi make it palatable. Would have been a 5-Star if not for the disappointing appetizer. The other people food looked good.

Yelp
BY FAR This was the WORST dining experience I've ever had in San Antonio. So much so us and 3 other tables just stood up, paid at the front and left. This was an extremely toxic and unprofessional environment. . I had a reservation for 8pm for my mother's birthday, we arrived at 7:50 and didn't get sat until 8:20. No hostess, just barely any employees running around and no one asking if we needed help. (By the way I had stated in the reservation it was my mothers birthday and not once was this mentioned) Our waitress (older female never stated her name) got our order and drinks on the first time around since they took so long. We received 3/5 items we ordered and NOT ONCE did we get a refill on our drinks (surprise the order was incorrect ). Almost by the end of the night our waitress just said "someone else will be taking care of you for the rest of the night" and literally walked out. Our other server never introduced himself but luckily we had placed the order and our food got there. The most disturbing event took place whilst waiting for the food. What seemed to be the executive chef was arguing with someone from management. The chef yelled profanities multiple times while making eye contact with me and other guests leaving the whole restaurant in awe and complete silence. This happened twice in the midst of 1 hour. With no water or wine refills, we finished the food and left while leaving desserts and other small plates behind due to being genuinely concerned for our safety because of the environment created by the chef and management. The person who took my payment apologized and said to give them another try but I sincerely discourage anyone from visiting this establishment.

Yelp
Cannot make accommodations for dairy allergies or intolerances. Every other Italian restaurant I have been to has been able to make some kind of accommodation. At the minimum, paninis are pre-made so makes me wonder what else is pre-made. For many items at almost $20 the pre-made bit is surprising. Was very excited to be able to try it out as it has great reviews. Will say, staff was friendly until the end when I had to leave since I couldn't eat anything. Cute interiors though, hoping in the future they can offer some non-dairy options.

Yelp
Everything, and I mean everything, is ah-mazing here!!! Loved the Arrosta Spritz!! Amazing and quite unique flavors. Unique is a word I can use to describe every single appetizer, entree and dessert we tried. The meatballs were amazing. One of the best I have tried and I do believe they have won an award for them!!! The marinated olives were the freshest olives I have ever had. It is a large serving. The Focaccia de Recco was the most amazing mix of flavors and textures. It was my favorite thing tonight. The cheese is sandwiched between two layers of thin dough. It has honey and salt on the top!! What a killer combination. The Chicken Parmigiana is enough to feed two or possibly three people and so good. I noticed that this dish and the Crispy Salmon Puttanesca were on a bed of tomato sauce which was surrounded with olive oil. The Rotisserie Half Chicken was great as well as the Porchetta. The Lemon Tiramisu was perfect. The Caramelized White Chocolate Bread Pudding was in a league of it's own with homemade Salted Caramel Ice Cream. The ice cream was beyond amazing. Hector was our server and he could not have done a better job. We cannot wait to go there again. They have been open less than a year which surprised me because this is a true 5 star restaurant!

Yelp
Came here with some family not knowing that this place would be a hit! Our server Jakobi was amazing and the food was great! The pepperoni pizza, chicken fettuccine, and Alla Vodka pasta were great!

Yelp
We chose Arrosta after reading other reviews, and loved our visit! The food was great. I had the Chicken Parmesan and I can honestly say it was some of the best I ever had! It was huge, but I am not complaining! It was definitely big enough to share. The wife had the Bucatini and loved it, the sauce was amazing. The service was great, and all staff were wonderful! This is a very quaint little restaurant, perfect for date night. We will definitely be returning!

Yelp
I just have to say this restaurant has great (food , and customer service). Our waiter was very nice and was honest of how long it would take I really recommend this restaurant. The pizza is very good for the kids, the chicken Alfredo was so good it had the right amount of flavor. 5/5 stars this restaurant is amazing .

Yelp
We were SO hangry. We had a big group, and the staff was incredibly accommodating. The lasagna was the best we'd ever had. The wine recommendations were excellent. The focaccia was salty and sweet and herby, and you have to get it. Our group also had chicken parm (HUGE), rotisserie chicken, and porchetta. The Nutella dessert and berries and cream were remarkable. We all left happy. Thanks for a great night!

Yelp
The ambiance was very modern. The eggplant with the crispy cheese on top was yum. The food was delicious and the portion was quiet large. Specially the chicken parm, we had it the next day and it provided 4 serving!!! Parking was convenient within the building. The waiter was very tentative and kept refilling our drinks. This was a nice experience for my family.

Yelp
After several attempts and numerous changes in plans, we finally got to try Arrosta in the Credit Human building near The Pearl. We had a reservation, and were promptly greeted and seated by the host. Our waitress was also very friendly and helpful with menu items. She introduced her "shadow," a trainee, and he really was exactly that- you knew he was there but he didn't do anything other than deliver someone else's wine to our table. Anyway, the overall dining experience was fantastic! We started with the amazeballs. Yes, they're meatballs but they were truly amazeballs! Tender, flavorful, perfectly sauced. At the recommendation of the host and the waitress, we ordered focaccia to go with the amazeballs. Not your typical doughy and thick focaccia, this was thin with interwoven pockets of melted cheese. More delicious than I could possibly describe, and it's no wonder it's their most popular appetizer. For our entrees, my husband ordered the half chicken (he's a huge fan of good roasted chicken) that reminded him of the chicken he used to order at Il Sogno, and he proclaimed it was even better than the one at nearby Mon Chou Chou. I couldn't decide between Porchetta and Spaghetti alla Chitarra. I ultimately opted for the spaghetti since I've had porchetta before (elsewhere) but I'd never had pasta with a ragu made of lamb shank. Absolutely delicious and very happy with that choice. For dessert, we shared the Nutella chocolate cake with "milk" gelato. We didn't think it particularly hinted at Nutella in any way, but it was still delicious. Had we not known it was supposed to be Nutella and hazelnuts, we would have thought it was chocolate and salted peanuts, but again- still delicious. To drink, we each had a few glasses of the Sangiovese. The longer it had time to breathe, the better it was. My husband switched to iced tea since he was driving. Granted, the husband has had stomach issues all through the night and the only thing different between us was the tea since we shared and sampled from each other's plates, so maybe it was that... but that wouldn't deter us from visiting again. I think he'll just avoid the tea. Portions are not huge but they're just right. Quality over quantity, and you won't leave hungry (but you will be craving more!) As someone else mentioned, the music is a little loud and the genre is quite contemporary. We didn't mind it because it's a contemporary restaurant, and maybe it energizes the staff. We liked the vibe, but some contemporary Italian music (like Nek) would be a welcome addition in my opinion, just to make the atmosphere a little more cohesive. The reason I'm only giving it 4 stars has nothing to do with tummy troubles, but the seating. Super cute inside but most of the seating is along one long bench against the wall with tiny bistro tables and chairs on the opposite side. The tables are so small that you're literally knee-to-knee with your dining companion. It was difficult to manage the amazeballs and focaccia at the same time, and we had to constantly shift things between hands and around the table to make things accessible, but it was a bit awkward. Unfortunate, because we'd have to either order less food to comfortably eat, or stagger the dishes which would mean a slower table turnover. Italian comfort food-yes, but this ain't your American-Italian nonna's kitchen and, if you're an Olive Garden fan you might be disappointed because many American-Italian creations are not offered, and I'm totally fine with that! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We got a reservation at 5 PM and it was for three people. We were sat immediately and the aesthetic in they was very clean and cute. Modern. The waiter Christopher was so informative and kind. He went over the menu with us, gave us solid recommendations as well. The food was phenomenal. We started out with the focaccia app, shrimp app and Caesar. Everything was seasoned perfectly. The flavor was great. I think the Caesar salad was perfect. For dinner I decided to get the Bolognese and it was really good but my favorite was the vodka pasta. Definitely will be going back. Omg, I forgot about the bread pudding. It is life-changing and it's so crispy on top and served with ice cream. That is definitely a must have.!!!!!!

Yelp
Yum Yum Yum. This place is so good. The food is so tasty. It's a little on the pricey side but it's worth it for what you're getting. Really enjoy coming here with friends or family.
