The Future of Meal Kits When UK Restaurants Reopen After Lockdown - Eater London

"Since the start of the first lockdown last year, the Woodhead Group has launched a range of kits and heat-at-home options, from pies and deli staples from the Quality Chop House shop to Quality Wines at Home to more elaborate (and expensive) multicourse feasts under the Quality Chop House and Portland brands — plus Arrosto, a totally new brand specialising in roast chicken." - George Reynolds

I love their food and it’s always consistent. I usually do some fun shopping while waiting for my chicken dinner!

Google
Alan is the man. With a smile, he sorted out the issues with on-line ordering system. Got us the best birds in town, on time, and out the door. Location inside Providore adds to the experience and take away options. Go get it.

Google
Excellent roasted chicken, salad and potatoes. Some of the best I've had. And a great indoor specialty market setting to sit down and eat. Nice surprise coming here.

Google
For lunch on Saturday, my wife and I shared Arrosto's half-chicken meal, including juicy rotisserie chicken, a side salad of lettuce and shaved parmesan, crispy potatoes, and focaccia, along with a tangy paprika, lemon, and garlic sauce (see photo). Excellent! There was a picnic table outside, but we chose to eat inside at the Providore Market, where there are plenty of large, clean wood tables, along with cutlery, napkins, and water. Highly recommended!

Google
Everything is done so well here. Like a northern Italian version of Nong’s, you get chicken and some other stuff, and a very memorable sauce. It’s pricey compared to grocery store rotisserie, but totally worth it once in a while especially if you get the meal. The only thing is the potatoes used to be crispy and smashed but now they are just roasted and kinda plain. Bring back the smashing.

Google
Whole chicken meal is great! Order 2 extra sides of arrosto sauce for whole chicken. Had this delivered by Postmates. Now I rotate between Arrosto and 'chicken n guns' for whole free range chicken meals to go!

Also a long-term fan, we’ve been disappointed since the relaunch, gave it one more try tonight and it sucked in every way. Ordered for 5, got a message it was ready 20 minutes early. Run out, bring it home, chicken is cold, flavorless and we’ve found a couple hairs baked into the barely browned skin. Salad sauce is pure anchovy flavor, salad itself had many slimy brown pieces. Food is just clearly being made by people who do not care. It sucks, go somewhere else.

What happened to Arrosto?!?! Arrosto has been our favorite chicken place for years since moving to Portland. We used to eat there about once every week or two. Since reopening a few months ago we've tried twice and the food is now garbage. The chicken flavor is just not good...tonight tasting more like chicken bologna than a delicious roast chicken. Also the cuts are all wrong compared to before...wings and legs still attached to breast and thigh. The potatoes are undercooked, crunchy and not smashed or crispy anymore....honestly taste undercooked and microwaved. Are they even cooked with the chicken anymore??? The salad tonight didn't have croutons and the cheese is now shredded and premixed. I'm right now not eating the full bird dinner we bought because the flavor and texture of everything but the focaccia is just bad. The new ordering method is fine-ish once you know how it works, but no method to talk with anyone and definitely very impersonal. Unfortunately, I won't be ordering here again which is really really sad as this has been our favorite chicken place in Portland.

Yelp
Arrosto is so good. You walk into Providore on 23rd and Sandy and veer to the left upon entering and there is a kiosk where you can oder a half $23.00 or a full chicken dinner for $39.00 includes a delicious chicken, potatoes, salad, dressing, focaccia bread. Service is fast and pleasant and the ambiance of the place is great walking around and shopping while you wait.
google avatar

Yelp
Haven't been here for a while and boy have I missed it. Their chicken is reasonably priced. Super juicy and flavorful without being too salty like a lot of the the rotisserie chickens you get from the market. Side salad is nice and their spicy sauce goes great w the chicken. Half chicken meal is perfect
google avatar

Jenna F.

Yelp
The $39.00 whole chicken meal with roasted potato's, focaccia, and an incredible salad is the best deal in Portland. The quality of the ingredients is impressive and it's the best way to feed my family on a lazy night.
google avatar

Andrea P.

Yelp
Disappointed they are claiming it is new and improved! Kiosk is fine to order but it tells you to go stand by it when your order is ready with no other instructions. Then the food is disappointing! Loved it before! Able to order full chicken dinners and additional sides. Seems like a more limited menu now so not sure how that is "improved". Also, the sauce with a whole chicken dinner is a half of a individual salad dressing container. Not sure how that works for a full chicken dinner and the number of people it is supposed to feed. And the focaccia I received was overly brown and dried out. Disappointed! They were amazing before so I don't see how they "improved " with the reopening?!
google avatar

Robyn F.

Yelp
Very good value. However, their hours are flaky. Multiple times we've shown up during business hours and they are inexplicably closed, or "out of everything". My advice, always call ahead.
google avatar

Jon S.

Yelp
Really really enjoyed the roast chicken, bread, salad and dressing. Entire meal just hit the spot.
google avatar

Cindy I.

Yelp
The chicken is moist and if you like some spice the sauce is good. I'm not a spicy person so it's a bit simple without it but I still enjoyed it. I do like the potatoes they are unique and have good flavor. $30 for a full chicken, salad, bread and potatoes. When they opened 6 or so years ago I remember thinking they were expensive now it seems like a good deal and the chicken is big. The focaccia bread is tasty but pretty oily FYI. We did try the chocolate chip with caramel cookies and didn't taste any caramel at all so I would skip them next time. Inside the main store the brownies are the best.
google avatar

Allison B.

Yelp
Delicious as always. We've moved away from Portland but whenever we are in town he hit that spot. I love their focaccia bread.
google avatar

Courtney K.

Yelp
Arrosto is a wonderful place to grab dinner for nights when you don't feel like cooking. The quality is always great. My husband and I'd favorite is the half chicken meal with an upgraded salad. I can't recommend the focaccia enough!
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
I really enjoyed Arrosto, the chicken meal was amazing! From the chicken to the potatoes to the yummy salad, this was a home cooked meal I enjoyed AND didn't have to cook!
google avatar

Mary Lou R.

Yelp
Wow, neighbor and I decided that cooking wasn't on and neither of us wanted to drag our partners out to dinner so this was suggested. And big back pat- it was excellent- chicken was moist, sauces were excellent, roasted potatoes weren't mushy and the salad was interesting- not the standard lettuce, rock hard tomatoes covered with the ever popular canned diced beets- nope. Interesting greens, excellent dressing. Nicely priced. So, yup another great place- we will be back.
google avatar

Charlie T.

Yelp
Sometimes when you need a healthy and tasty snack...I suggest the chicken here! I've been here a few times now and they have been consistent with their chicken. It's never dry and always moist. There's tons of great flavor in the chicken and to top things off...their dipping sauce is delicious! It's nice that you can eat the chicken inside the little section they have. My go to spot for rotisserie chicken (besides Costco...cuz you can't beat their price value).
google avatar

Aniece S.

Yelp
I love the simplicity of this menu. The rotisserie chicken is very flavorful. It's interesting because to the eye it looks like plain roasted chicken, but its super juicy and flavorful. The chicken dinner comes with salad, potatoes, and a piece of foccacia bread. The salad dressing is homemade and Ah-mazing. It's perfect for their greens mix. I have also had the chicken salad. The salad it a good portion for a dinner salad and plenty of chicken as well. The sandwich is pretty good as well. The chicken is covered in the Arrosto sauce. I'm not sure how to explain it. It's not heavy and full of flavor. It's a red maybe pepper but not spicy sauce (I hate bell peppers so it's def not a bell pepper sauce) Great flavor and not overly wet for a dressed sandwich. This is also a good family dinner pick up as well! It's attached to the Providore Market and you can eat inside if you like, enjoy some wine even!
google avatar

Garcia L.

Yelp
Lamest-ass chicken salad. What a disappointment. Maybe a half cup, if that, of shredded white meat straight from the refrigerator. Cold. Dry. Flavorless. This from a "Mediterranean Rotisserie"? I'm sorry, but you will get better value and quality from a Whole Foods salad bar, even a pre-packaged Safeway, Fred Meyer, or Trader Joe's. FOOL ME ONCE, but not twice. Pathetic
google avatar

Mr M.

Yelp
Amazing chicken and potato's . I really wish they would cut all the meat and just remove all the bone as an option . Especially since your paying a bit for a whole chicken ! Other then that very good , I will order again!
google avatar

Gregory T.

Yelp
Love this place! The food is delicious every time. The lunch bowl is great and the chicken dinner is so big. Best deal in town for gourmet chicken! The staff works hard and is always pleasant and cheerful. We will definitely be back!

Lukas I.

Yelp
Found bugs in salad. Took it back and was offered a replacement salad with no apology, took it, and then returned it shortly after because I didn't have an appetite. Asked for a refund and the worker with blue eyes and a little boy voice said "you know how this looks" and was questioning why I wanted a refund.
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
This is one of the best deals in Portland. I haven't been here in a while and I forgot how perfect this simple menu is. This place is truly quality over quantity when it comes to the choices. But they do not skimp on the meal. The whole bird dinner is perfect for a four person family in my opinion. The chicken is perfectly moist and the potatoes underneath soak up the chicken juices. The light salad and focaccia compliment the rich chicken perfectly. The spicy sauce is delicious! The chicken leftovers make a great chicken noodle soup the next day!
google avatar

Lenny Z.

Yelp
Wow just wow. The best rotisserie chicken! Yummy! We had a whole bird dinner which came with juicy roasted potatoes, grilled lemons, heavenly rosemary focaccia bread, fresh greens salad with delicious dressing and of course smoked chili sauce to dip everything in!!! The chicken was nice hot and crispy on the outside and tender and hooch in the inside! The seasoning was on point! Best diner take out ever!!!

Yelp
Arrosto has been one of my favorite "go to" spots for years as it has been close to where I work and has delicious offerings that keep us coming back for more. It is a-hole-in-the-wall, takeout restaurant that serves basic but high-end chicken meals. For a fast, delicious and hearty lunch the quarter bird meal is fantastic. Don't have time to cook dinner or are having guests? The whole bird dinner is perfect. Their offerings, while simple, are bursting with flavor and quality. If ordered on a "good" day the meal is *epic*... Moist, tender, lemony chicken. Melt in your mouth potatoes that you can never get enough of. The most perfect Cesar salad on earth. And that mind blowing focaccia. Add in the sauces, condiments, & grilled lemon slices and you are ready for a slice of foodie heaven. Honestly the salad, potatoes, and focaccia are our favorites and we have ordered here just for those items. Arrosto is connected to Providore Fine Foods so you can do a little browsing or shopping if there is a wait. Parking isn't usually an issue but the area can get busy during lunch/dinner peak hours. Where I drop major stars is the "bad" days which have been surprisingly frequent. It's almost a 50/50 toss up which is why we have been ordering here less. Quality and quantity control are the big issues at Arrosto. There have been times we have ordered a large salad a la carte or the full bird dinner only to get home and be disappointed by a meager salad (for ONE...in the large box...) only a few potatoes, or stale, rock hard focaccia. Last night the focaccia was rock hard and flavorless which is the exact opposite of the soft flavor bomb it normally is. Calling ahead is advised as their hours are limited, they sometimes run out of items, the wait can be long (or short), or they may not be following their normal hours altogether. For the price this place really needs to level up. If it were not for these issues this place would be a solid 5 star.

Yelp
One of the best chichen lunches I've had in I don't know how long. Nothing fancy, rotisserie chicken, salad, a slice of foccacia bread and some roasted potatoes with sea salt. Light but filling, tasty but clean. No gross feeling or greasy feeling after. The sauce they serve on the side is fantastic, and I would order a second one.

Yelp
I have been so disappointed in Arrosto on my past two visits! I used to swear by that place, that the food was absolute perfection. The food showed attention to detail and it paid off in the amazing flavors. The chicken used to be lusciously juicy with a perfect level of smokiness that was magically enhanced by the beautiful grilled lemons included. On my past two trips, the chicken breast was dry and mushy and there was only one tiny slice of grilled lemon. No hint of smoke. The potatoes were so compelling, crunchy, salty and smokey on the outside, and fluffy like a cloud on the inside. Totally addictive and unforgettable. My past two orders were just potatoes, nothing special at all, and cooked into mush inside. So disappointing! The exceptional bread is still exceptional. The salad is still great. Customer service leaves much to be desired. Attitude, attitude, attitude, you are there to serve, not be served!! Don't give the store away to your friends! All things considered, I'm no longer recommending Arrosto to my friends and probably won't be ordering again for awhile. I'll check back in a few months maybe, in hopes of it having been restored to its former level of awesomeness. Come on guys!!! Please????

Yelp
THE LOCATION Located right on busy NE Sandy Blvd on the parking lot side of Podovore Fine Foods. THE PARKING Free street and lot parking, but when we arrived at 4:00pm, the large lot was full. We found the only spot left on the street. Oddly, there were just a few patrons in the store and several customers waiting at the takeout window. THE ATMOSPHERE It's basically a takeout window on the side of a building. THE FOOD For $28, we ordered the Whole Chicken Dinner. The cut-up bird comes in a bucket along with about four or five medium to small Yukon Gold potatoes that have been flattened and cooked in rotisserie drippings. Included with the dinner are two small containers of spicy dipping sauce for the chicken which we did not use, four slices of soft focaccia bread, in addition to a small box of arugula salad topped with pecorino shavings and seasoned bread crumbs with house made creamy anchovy dressing on the side. As for the grilled lemon, it was missing from our order. The rotisserie chicken was delicious with hints of smokey flavor along with a well balanced savoriness. The dark meat was definitely saltier and better seasoned than the breast meat which was not overcooked but still slightly on the dry side. Although they claim this dinner feeds 4, a better estimate would be 3 servings. As for the accompanying potatoes, bread and salad, all were extremely well executed and paired perfectly with the chicken. THE SERVICE Very accommodating and friendly. With orders lined up before and after us, had I known the wait would be 15 to 20 minutes, I would've placed the order first before going into the fine foods store for a browse. THE BOTTOM LINE Arrosto's is a good healthy option for a great meal. This may or may not be fair, but in comparison to Costco's $4.99 rotisserie chicken, Arrosto's $20 a la carte whole chicken can feel a bit overpriced for such a petite sized portion.

Yelp
I usually don't write reviews after only visiting a place once but since I went last night and had everything on the menu, I can tell you a bit about it. The chicken is a for real winner. Seriously some of the juiciest roasted chicken I've eaten. The lemon and rosemary flavors are bright and nicely different than most roast chicken places. The sauce was tasty too, but the chicken is so full of flavor you don't necessarily need it. The potatoes are good, and made a nice side. My only complaints are that it wasn't real fun waiting in line to order in the freezing cold, then having to wait for my order. I really wish the location was indoors. Also, the salad was literally just some mixed greens the gal pulled out of a bin, threw some crumbs and shaved cheese on and served in a to go box. Not nearly worth $10 for a large. And the lemon salad dressing along with the lemon of the chicken was just too much lemon. Need to mix the flavors up to complement each other more. Also, the focaccia would have been a lot better if served warm. Other than that the chicken is still worth it and I'll probably be back once in awhile.

Yelp
I'd been here before and thought it used to be good... boy was I wrong. First issue is with the sauce. It had an unpleasantly bitter aftertaste - it tasted like they put the whole lemon rind in there instead of zest. I'm not quite sure what they were going for - romesco maybe? Did not hit the mark for me. Then there's the all-important chicken. For me, a rotisserie chicken should be tender and well-seasoned. The chicken I got was neither. I don't think it was roasted nearly long enough as the meat clung to the bone. The skin, usually one of my favorite elements on a roasted chicken, was rubbery and bland. it clearly had not been given enough time for the fat to render. The focaccia, salad and potatoes were good but for $18 you could do a lot better for a chicken dinner in this town. In fact I got a whole rotisserie chicken at new seasons tonight and it honestly tasted a whole lot better for 1/2 the price. And yes, I did eat roasted chicken twice in a week... What can I say, I like rotisserie chicken
google avatar

Yelp
The picture from the latest Portland Monthly is what drew us to Arrosto (bucket of chicken - if you've seen it, you'll know what I mean). It's literally a window in the back of Providore Fine Foods. It's bright yellow, so you can't miss it. We went with the whole bird dinner, which included a whole chicken, a large salad, roasted potatoes, foccacia and their amazing arrosto sauce. I have to say - the chicken was amazing. The meat was juicy, and the skin was beautifully seasoned with lemon and rosemary oil. Actually everything was really good. I really loved the arrosto sauce, which was perfect with the roasted potatoes. For $28 it seemed a little pricey, but it was dinner and a second day lunch for us, so overall not bad. And it was a much better deal, than getting everything separately, which I think would have been close to $40. If you love rotisserie chicken, I would highly recommend this place. I've heard that they can run out of chicken, so keep that in mind, if you go later in the day.
google avatar

Scoob W.

Yelp
There are so many roasted chicken places in portland these days. But none come close to this. Its simple and just perfection. Get the full chicken meal deal, the chicken, potatoes, bread and the arugula salad! All is perfection! Sometimes they run out so dont miss out.

Yelp
Those fowl gods have finally smiled upon me and my chicken-loving proclivities. First we get Pollo Norte, then we get Chicken & Guns (arguably not the same style), and now Arrosto. My love for Latin-style rotisserie chicken knows no bounds, and Arrosto is aiming straight for my heart. This brand-spankin'-new rotisserie chicken window in the back of Providore Fine Foods offers up a short, sweet menu of cluckin' delicious treats. Grab a quarter bird, half bird or whole bird, either a-la carte, or as a "dinner" which includes potatoes, bread and salad. Sides include, you guessed it, potatoes, bread, and salad. That's it. Oh, and they have super interesting drinks, coming straight out of the case at Providore. The winner winner here is the chicken dinner. Half chicken with the trimmings for $18. While I appreciate good focaccia and potatoes, I had them sub in a larger salad (massive!) in lieu of the carbs. Excellent choice. My half chicken came partial deconstructed (each cut separated, but still on the bone) with great skin, excellent moisture, and an insanely good sauce. The salad employs excellent greens and radicchio, with a nice vinaigrette, shaved parm and bread crumbs. The whole mess is served up on medium sized baking trays. Only a photo can do justice to the sheer amount of food you get for $18. Hint - it covers two medium sized baking trays. The chicken is top notch. Not quite as browned or seasoned as Pollo Norte, but similar style. It's on the simple side, but simple is good here. The skin was just crispy enough, and the meat inside so moist. And the seasoning is really not super necessary when you have the delicious sauce. Also a nice charred lemon to squeeze over the top. The salad? A perfect match for the succulent chicken. The tangy dressing cuts right through the fat. And massive. MASSIVE! At least for the large. You can utilize Providore's outdoor seating for your meal, or take it to go. But there's not a ton of seating available. So be prepared to make do if you go on a busy day. This joint is only a week old, so nobody knows about it right now. Get while the gettin's good. Mad props. This is everything it needs to be.
google avatar

Risa R.

Yelp
The chicken, the salad, the bread... impeccable with the seasoning and wonderfully shared with a homie. You have a few seating options, indoor or outdoor as well as two different windows to order from.
google avatar

Andy L.

Yelp
tl;dr Just go eat here As frequent visitors to Providore we'd been meaning to try Arrosto for a while. A sunny and warm early Friday evening was the right time. We ordered the half-chicken dinner to share. We ate at the tables in the parking lot - they're far enough away from Sandy Blvd that the traffic wasn't annoying. Sure the reviews here are great, but they didn't prepare me for how good the food actually is. Salad is delicious with a tangy delicate dressing that makes you want to throw out every store-bought bottle in your fridge. The potatoes are a revelation - real actual flavor and that great crispy-soft texture that only a well roasted potato has. Focaccia is legit - fresh, toothsome, and drizzled with olive oil. Main event: the chicken. Not sure how they do it but it's on another level from other rotisserie chicken. Flavor is subtle but satisfying and penetrates through the chicken, not merely surface-level like many others. And it seems like they use high-quality birds - no off flavors like you get from supermarket birds. I really liked how they cut the pieces to expose the meat as well. Finally the included sauce was on point. Washed it down with a glass of rosé they were pouring in Providore. This unassuming fare was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Arrosto just vaulted onto our go-to list.
google avatar

Luke P.

Yelp
This place is out of this world. Yes the chicken is amazing and cooked perfectly but for me it's that salad dressing. Oh and the potatoes, those potatoes are unreal. Then you put it all together with some charred lemon.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
I had really high hopes for this place after months of wanted to try it. Arrosto is set next to/inside of povodore. I ordered a quarter chicken meal which was a good size for my sister and I to share. The chicken itself was cooked well, but I didn't love the sauce that came with it and it just seemed a bit salty. You get roasted potatoes with this (also a bit salty) and a salad (also salty) and focaccia. I wish there were some sweet notes or an herb sauce that would brighten this up as I just seemed a bit overwhelmed with salt.
google avatar

Pete H.

Yelp
They don't offer many items, but what they have is just delicious. We got a bucket of rotisserie chicken with super tasty sides and bread and it was sublime. I only wish it were closer to home. No place to sit down, as this is just a window to order from in the side of a building. Can we hope they will expand to more locations?
google avatar

Jody T.

Yelp
19May17 @ 11:30am. We wanted to do some shopping in providore so we asked how long to get our order of whole chicken ready and were told a few minutes so we waited until after shopping to order. It's take-away but you can eat in providore if you want. The service was quick and friendly. The whole meal was delicious. Everything was just a little better than other places. The chicken was tender, juicy and tasty. The potatoes had a wonderful texture with a nice buttery herbal flavor. The salad went two steps beyond with something crunchy, shaved cheese and various types of greens. There was nothing here to complain about and lots to be happy about. We would return. Also, providore is a great market with lots of wonderful cheeses and meats and other fine foods.
google avatar

shanklin g.

Yelp
So...I had the whole chicken and large potatoes. The potatoes were really good. I would definitely go back for the potatoes. The chicken was just okay. Nothing special at all. Not bad, not great, just good. You can get whole roasted chickens with a similar taste in grocery stores around Portland for 1/4 the price. I thought about giving two stars because they just left my order at the window without telling me it was mine. The dude working the window looked at me several times while going about his way cleaning or whatever he was doing. I finally asked another dude if that order was for "my name" and he looked and said yes. Anyways, if I go back to this place it won't be for the chicken.

Yelp
Wonderful chicken salad! Huge portion. Served with delicious focaccia bread. Located at Providore Fine Foods so you can grab a glass of wine to pair with your meal and a sweet for afterwards. Fast service, love coming to this restaurant every time I am in this part of town.

Wanda M.

Yelp
Arrosto "gets" flavor!!! Everything is bursting with perfectly layered thoughtfully composed flavor. Especially their unforgettable sauces which you will find yourself craving. Always best around meal time when it is the definition of deliciousness. Any other time it is merely very very good. I always get the whole chicken meal. Wonderful moist flavorful juicy, did I say juicy chicken. Smokey roasted lemon flavor to the bone, which it almost falls off of. ***I would very much prefer crispy skin, unfortunately is often a bit flabby. Gorgeous fresh dark green salad with huge slivers of fresh parmesan cheese and the dressing is heavenly thick creamy layers of fluffy lemony, anchovy and garlic deliciousness. Excellent with or without the pickled purple onions. One of my very favorite sauces in the world is their rustic red sauce (sorry the name escapes me but it has layer upon layer of very intense delicious delightfully spicy flavors). They are happy to show you a list of ingredients and I enjoy picking out the flavors in this sauce. ***This is no frills take out ... so ask for lots of napkins unless you are headed home! I call ahead and it is ready to go when I get there. OH!!! And the SMASHED POTATOES!!! Yuuuummmmm! You can even grab a cold beer to go right at the take out window! A nice Czech lager (if I recall). Focaccia is delightful; fresh, moist, slightly chewy and perfectly punctuated with bursts of salt. Thank you Arrosto! You are consistent, offer friendly good service and your food is incredible. (I do miss the crunchy skin on both chicken and potatoes that I recall when you first opened).

Yelp
The chicken here is very good, it is excellent for what it is, it's simply cooked, and enjoyed in the same manor, the bread is wonderful as well.
google avatar

Jimmy B.

Yelp
Outstanding, succulent chicken. The service is top notch. Staff/Owners in all the Providore Building businesses are enthusiastic and professional.
google avatar

Rilee J.

Yelp
Once upon a time, around the corner from Providore Fine Foods lived a bright yellow building known as Arrosto... The chicken was undeniably delicious with very generous portions of sides including a green salad, focaccia bread and potatoes all for the small price of $12! It is a must eat, a must try and guaranteed to satisfy!!
google avatar

Brittany B.

Yelp
The chicken and salad are to die for. The chicken is so juicy and smoky, and the salad is a perfect combo of simple, fresh ingredients. Grab a bottle of rosé at the market next door and voilà, you have a fancy take home dinner.

Albert H.

Yelp
Great deal for fantastic food! The potatoes and focaccia are so good and the chicken is always tender and moist. Every part of the whole chicken dinner is a winner.

Jay K.

Yelp
Arrosto serves up mediterranean-style rotisserie chicken that totally gets my salivary glands going. This place is basically a counter off to the side of the Providore Food Market on Sandy, and boy do they serve up some amazing chicken. I'm talking slow-roasted, juicy, tender, melt in your mouth chicken, with Italian herbs and a super sexy grilled lemon that you squeeze over it for that perfect hit of charred-acidity. Sends shivers up my spine thinking about it. So good. Be sure to get a meal here rather than ordering a la Carte, which ends up being more expensive. Sadly, the lady working the counter when I first went failed to call this to my attention, and it was a good $5-10 more (and I got less food!). The meals come with either a quarter or half a chicken, a piece of focaccia, a side salad with premium greens and radicchio (dressed in balsamic, with breadcrumbs scattered over it, which is so good) and crispy potatoes that are cooked in chicken fat - double delicious. The only problem is seating - there's a small outdoor seating area, with just two picnic tables, out in the parking lot. I think you can also eat in the Providore market seating area. So this place is more geared for a quick meal on a sunny Portland day (when that strikes the rainy city) or grabbing food to-go.

Chris R.

Yelp
Great food, reasonable prices perfect for Covid-19 take out. Never disappointed with the chicken, salad, potatoes and focaccia. At one time they also included rich cookies but last visit they didn't. Unsure if they forgot or don't do it anymore.

Alex Z.

Yelp
I was excited for this. Got a whole bird, came in a bucket type of thing. Opened it up and the first thing I see is a wing with a lot of very long feather quills. Yuck! Turned me off to the whole thing. I tried eating a different piece because I was hungry... Not much flavor if you don't use the sauce (sauce is good though), and the texture of the chicken was weird. Kind of rubbery and squeaky. And it's a shame they don't do a better job browning up the skin. But the quill thing made me feel nauseated about it anyhow. Bread is great, salad was good.

Yelp
Best chicken salad I've ever had. The chicken is phenomenal, the ingredients are fresh and I swear the dressing has crack in it. I eat hear for lunch 3 or 4 days a week with no shame.

Yelp
Arrosto is a wonderful little spot on Sandy to pick up delicious, fast, Mediterranean style chicken. Prices are reasonable, you can sit inside or outside, and the customer service is outstanding. My favorite is their preserved lemons that add so much flavor. You feel great after you eat this light, yummy food. Salads are delicious with bread crumbs instead of gross croutons. Focaccia is spongy and zesty. Half bird is your best bet for two people who are pretty hungry. Otherwise a quarter bird would be enough to split if you are not too hungry.

Yelp
Seriously the best food in town right now. Chicken is delicious. Bread addicting. The potatoes are crazy amazing. The staff is courteous. Service prompt.

Yelp
Best tasting, most reasonably priced, healthy take-out dinner in Portland. We get the half chicken dinner and it NEVER disappoints. We love you, Arrosto!
