Secluded & Gritty 😏 A nice park with many amenities and decent shade, offer great family fun! Even though it is a homeless pass through area with occasional bathroom bathing, the area is kept up nicely by park maintenance! Kids enjoyed play scape while we walked around and chatted, a win win 🌳 🌲 🛝🧒🏻👧🏻👶🏻👦🏼

Went hiking & saw horses! It was just a very hot, dry day in LA/Pasadena. Pick some flowers along the way & created a flower wall at home. I enjoyed the day.

Google
Nice fields for soccer and baseball. Little league baseball and soccer leagues play here. Nice little playground with shade as well. Close to the Miniature Golf Course, Arroyo Seco Golf Course, Skate Park, Batting Cages, Horse Stables, and more...

Google
Beautiful park, So much to do. The bathrooms were horrible they smelled bad, graffiti, no lights, floors flooded. Unisex!!! My niece had a man open the door as she came out, she was frightened. I was in the restroom next to her. Just as gross, the portal pottys i would never use sorry. The walking trail was nice a bonus to see the horses.

Google
Beautiful park. I highly recommend this park to all my friends and family.

Google
ABSOLUTELY beautiful! Love riding my ebike through the Seco with my other half! Nature's Eye candy is the best!

Google
Beautiful park, clean facilities and safe for the kids.

Google
The playground for kids is really small. Probably good for 2 families at a time. It's nice that it has big fields for soccer and baseball, but you need a permit for that and usually it's kids leagues during the day or adult leagues at night. The main field is locked up when sports aren't in season so if you like trying to practice on your own, this is not the place to come to. The batting cage used to be open to the public but they locked it up and now you need a key code(or permit lol) to use it.

Yelp
Arroyo Park is a lovely park in South Pasadena. We went for our friends' baby shower and took over one of the gazebos, and it was a pleasant, relaxing venue for a big group that included several small children. Parking seems like it could be annoying, but we got lucky with a spot right by the party. The gazebo area was nice and spacious, with tables and benches and plenty of room for kids to toddle around. My only complaint is there were a lot of greedy bees coming after our tacos, but no one got stung. The playground was great. Our three-year-old had a blast, as did his little friends. We don't live in the neighborhood, but if we did, we'd get a lot of use out of this park.

Yelp
Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find yourself. It's time for another adventure. Without further ado let so this park review. Arroyo Park is the type of park where one can do hiking, running, walking, jogging and more. It's a one stop shop kinda park which is great for the whole family. Moreover, it is home to a large variety of wildlife, including birds, mammals, reptiles and bugs. Sadly, No PANDA! So whatever you have planned for the day, you can find the perfect trail. The park has a Flood Channel, a deep concrete channel, as a flood control extending 25 ft on each side. Entrance starts at the San Pascual Stables. Free parking is available albeit limited. Overall, it's a great park and I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Greta place for hiking or biking. Easy parking but be careful for sand or dog or horse poop

Yelp
Been here a few times. I like jogging along the river. Once I get down to the equestrian area it can smell a bit but other than that it's fine. Been here a couple times on a Saturday morning for free archery lessons! Recently bright my brother here so he can practice his archery, he enjoyed it! There are signs warning visitors about coyotes and mountain lions so be careful!

Yelp
Great park very beautiful clean private and I love the location , most parks that I attend the restrooms are very dirty this restroom was clean and fully stocked!!!...

Yelp
Pretty nice park for a walk or a light jog/run. Came with my GF for a morning job and it was okay. The park is clean and parking is free. There is a bike path which I saw people both jogging and on a bike. You will see friendly archers from the Pasadena Roving Archers taking classes - don't worry you won't get hit. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
Been running this trail for a few years now. It's so much better than the Rose Bowl loop. You can run this trail for an extra mile with included scenery such as little river, little stream, under passages to some of Pasadena's most beautiful bridges, a horse trail and horse stables, along side of the LA river, dragonflies, wild bunnies, hot shirtless men training for something, butterflies, snakes, archery targets, rocks, dirt and gravel, California brush (it's pretty) and so on and so forth. Try it one day! You will see for yourself. PS Minus one star for the lack of shade. Best to come early mornings, not so hot days or dusk. It gets dark. I don't recommend coming at night. You won't be able to see your own hand in front of your face.

Yelp
This review is only for the gazebo/picnic area . I attended a celebration party here. If you aren't familiar with this park, this picnic area is difficult to find. Hint: It's located in between 2 baseball fields. The gazebo can be rented for several hours through the park for a nominal fee. The gazebo itself is large and contains at least 8 tables that can easily hold a party for 50+ people. A short walk away is a play area for children and a unisex bathroom. If you are looking for an affordable venue for a celebration, baby shower, birthday party, etc. Arroyo Seco Park might be worth looking into. -1 star for the difficult parking if they are multiple games going on.

Yelp
Love this dog park!! They have two park separated from each other for small dogs and large dogs. Nice and clean, lots of parking!

Yelp
I play tennis here. There are two sets of courts. There are about 10 upper courts (all lighted) and 6 lower courts (2 lighted) at the park. I normally play on Thursday nights and weekends with friends who are regulars at the park. They have been coming here for years and years. The courts are fairly nice for being public courts, but can get dusty, dirty with lots of leaves because they are public courts. There aren't any wind screens on the courts, so it's more challenging to see the ball. However, they are free, so how much can you really complain. The courts are fairly slow, so be prepared to run a lot. Cheers!

Yelp
Gorgeous park to run, jog, picnic, play, and get some fresh air. Enter through Mission st. Entrance and go along Arroyo Rd. There is plenty of parking. Take a stroll towards Colorado St. Bridge. Bring a dog or love or pal to frolic around with. What more do you want out of life?

Yelp
We come to this park all the time. Park has a lot of potential. Lots of shade. Decent play structures. Big fields. Lots of grass. We recently rented the gazebo for a birthday party. The gazebo and the area all around it were FILTHY. People just leave all their trash on the ground when they are done with their birthday parties...stuff like: plastic bottlecaps, empty water bottles, broken and cracked plastic cups, silly string, napkins, metal bottlecaps, broken pinata pieces, candy wrappers, broken water and regular balloons, etc. This same trash has been accumulating for months. I see the same trash items there from week to week because we use this park all the time. It's obvious that NONE of the money used to reserve these structures is being used to keep them clean. I mean we paid like $50-70 to reserve the structure but no one met us there, no one hung a reserved sign, and no one cleaned a single piece of trash before we got there. Where is that money going???? PLEASE, South Pasadena Parks and Rec, if you are reading this then consider having staff who will come and clean up after all the guests at the end of the day EVERYDAY. To fund this, you can either charge more for gazebo rental for everyone, charge everyone a deposit that they can get back if the place is left immaculate at the end of their party, or, probably less attractive, charge individual parties who leave a mess. Also, please consider banning some items such as silly string, water balloons, glass bottles, etc. You just can't trust people to be responsible in this day and age. Such a nice park that is being spoiled by inconsiderate park goers and poor management.

Yelp
Beautiful Park with so much to do. The drive there is beautiful as well. There is so much exploring you can do there but my dogs and I were on a time limit and yet we still enjoyed it

Yelp
Why trot around in mindless paved circles with the masses going round and round the Rose Bowl when you've got this? Hands down, one of my favorite places in the city to run. The trails extend south (from near the Aquatic Center) towards South Pasadena and Highland Park along the Arroyo passing through some woodsy areas, along a creek, by the beautiful old homes on San Rafael above, past the stables and the golf course all the way to the second set of stables in HP, making for a perfect 8 mile round trip run on soft dirt (e.g. old knee friendly) trail. Take a camera if you want to catch some amazing views of the Colorado (suicide) bridge from the unique vantage point of being underneath it. Alternately, you can head north for a more challenging trek past the golf course up towards the old baseball diamond and JPL and further still up into Angeles Crest for a run (my favorite) that will give you enough elevation not only for a good workout but some amazing views. If you have a few hours for a leisurely jog it doesn't get much better than this. A couple of miles in and Toto, you'll know you're not in Kansas anymore. There's the old Elmer's bridge (recently, finally, getting a little facelift after being washed out in last year's rains) and plenty of lush greenery and wildlife to spy. Iif you're lucky enough to come up here after a few weeks of rain there are gorgeous spots to enjoy the swollen creeks running and the run off below turns some of the areas into dog friendly ponds. So what are you waiting for? Get off your ass, step away from the computer, and go!

Yelp
The Arroyo Seco Park is beautiful and has a ton of activities you can do here. They have a softball field, running trails, mini hiking trails, tennis courts, a horse ranch, and a golf course. Of course, running is free, but I'm not sure if the rest are open to public. I've only been here for running, and they got some trails along the wash which is great for it; but there are horse poo everywhere so be careful where you step! Anyway you can park up top around the neighborhood of the entrance, and then follow a tiny path down to the wash area. Once down at the bottom, you can just basically run/walk along the road, which loops all the way around the park. If you take the full path, you'll have to do some uphill running, but you'll get to loop around the golf course and even go under the bridge. It's pretty cool and will keep you from being too bored on your run.

Yelp
I love it here=] great place to walk/run with your pup. WARNING : sometimes cops wait around on the trail to give out tickets to people who have their dogs off leash. I've seen them a few times so be careful! The tickets are pricey.
google avatar

Phil T.

Yelp
Entrance is located at S. Arroyo blvd and Norwood dr. After the steep drive down, there is an archery range straight ahead. If you turn left you will see the bridge. If you head in this direction (rose bowl) it will lead you to the rose bowl. Not sure where the stream comes from, but it is a bit dirty with trash bags floating around. Overall, nice, quiet place for a walk. Lots of dogs walkers.

Yelp
This place was fantastic for a beginner like me to run. I really dig not having to dodge cars like I do in East LA, and have to worry about how much I'm running like I do when I'm on a track. The trail is unpaved and "rustic" for lack of a less stupid word, and the funny thing about it is it makes running a bit more fun. A bit more like an adventure. Class Notes: - I was easily able to find parking (mind you that I go during the weekday) - Beautiful Scenery as everyone else on Yelp has mentioned - You get to run past horses - AND... there are plenty of trees and shrubbery to keep you cool on the warmer days. Thank you Arroyo Seco Park.
google avatar

Linda T.

Yelp
Review for the Lower Arroyo (trail that goes under the Colorado Bridge): My dog and I took a walk along the water trail, free from any rogue archers or large canines. It is quiet, modest and beautiful--lost in paradise. Since the place seemed private enough, I let my dog wander off leash. Here's how he enjoyed his walk: - smelling the damp and acrid grass beside the trail - rolling in the leafy riches beneath the trees - walking on the cobbled wall to an upper trail - getting lost in a massive attack of tall and dense shrubbery ... because his walking partner thought it was a trail... (my bad) - needing to climb up what appeared to be his first V0 to get back on track - "enjoying" the view beneath the bridges

Yelp
Four stars for: a) lots of tennis courts. b) lots of lit tennis courts. c) lots of lit tennis courts that stay lit till 10:30~ish (a little earlier, but sometimes you can turn the lights back on for a few minutes) d) lots of parking Minus one star for: a) plenty of homeless people that sometimes go onto the court, and like last night, ask you to call 911, then say that everything is okay when the paramedics are there. or the homeless people that just hang around and circle the spot b) that pedophile/stalker we chased off once c) the avenue that probably wanted to throw down once, and scared us enough that we hadn't been back for about a year. Side notes: There is also a jungle gym (kinda new) for the kids, a bridge that leads over to the doggie park & it's conveniently located right off the 110 (?) freeway.

Yelp
Thanks to Foster K. for the first review of this place. It brought back so many memories!. This is a great little hidden park that is in between East LA, the 110, and South Pas. It's so amazing that it's right off the 110 because it is a perfectly quiet little haven... and one would never suspect it is tucked away right in the middle of a barrio and upscale So Pas. The park is lush with trees and there are tons of soccer moms and dads back-seat coaching their adorable little kids (I don't even like kids that much...but watching little kids run the wrong way on a soccer field warms my heart every time!) as they scramble around like maniacs on the field...akin to chemotaxis if you really think about it. There are also horseback riding trails and if you follow the main trail up north, it will lead all the way up to the Rose Bowl. I will say, however, that I prefer to exit the park on the north side and just run up Arroyo Blvd...it's much more scenic with brilliant modern architectural wonders as well as more run-of-the-mill (yet beautiful) houses, shade, and cute old people who wave to you or have their easels set up and are painting the gorgeous views. The horse trail is much more dusty and there's lots of horse poop that you have to watch out for. Either way, this park is a little treasure in the vast urban landscape known as Los Angeles.

Yelp
South Pasadena? Not pasadena. Okay, guess it spans most towns. Great escape, great place to meet people. maybe I will go more often. I have only gone by myself, I would rather explore with someone else Tons of Archery Fanatics convene here, the ones I have meet are peaceful, friendly, and pleasant.

Yelp
This is a cool, off the beaten path park to take pictures at. I hadn't known about this place until I accidentally stumbled across it on a training run. It's relatively secluded, mostly verdant (I say mostly, because it has hiking and archery areas which don't have much foliage) and just a great way to spend a quiet morning, evening or afternoon.
google avatar

Blis L.

Yelp
gorgeous city bliss.. I am a born and bred Los Angeles Native,3rd generation and just recently stumbled across this gorgeous park. The only reason I found it was because I drove the streets from Pasadena to Lincoln Heights and just kinda cruised. When I actually had time to come back and visit the place, I was amazed by it's secret hidden treasures...all I can say is GO!...i dont wanna spoil the fun..

Yelp
This place just driving through the streets in pasedena going to the Rose Bowl, had my jaw dropping on just the majestic height of the Colorado Bridge, as well as the beautiful trails and archery available here. It was just as amazing when walking underneath it with the strategic archtecture, and grandeure. I walked down to lower Arroyo and just started to walk and explore the beauty in such serene atmosphere. There were some very friendly archers, and fitness fanatics (I would not walk alone here at dusk or any time after dark it would be dangerous) . There were horse back riding and lots of dogs around and the foot bridges that let you cross over the wash, with the permeating smell of the sewer- you cando the easy walk along the fence of the wash or through the wooded areas, there are fallen trees, as well as ducks, and a few surprising bungalows hidden in the trees that overlook the place. It was a very nice day or ending to a good day. I will be back

Yelp
Alway keep your dog on a leash or the rangers will give you a $300+ ticket or if you have more dogs there is a discount for each ticket and you pay only $270 per dog that is unleashed I know sounds ridiculous but a couple that passed by and saw that I didn't have my dog on a leash warned me because it happened to them.
google avatar

Sun W.

Yelp
Came to the area and could not for the life of me find the jogging/walking trail. I saw the park, golf course, baseball batting cages, but did not see any people walking. So I rate this place lower for bad signage. I did pass by a sign for the roving archers, I'll check them out next time. The area is nice though, if you find the walking area I would suggest hanging around here and walking a short distance to the main street where there are a few restaurants, cafes, and bakeries you'll enjoy the serenity of this area.

Yelp
Lights. Semi-pitch. Football. I have been coming here for years to play pick up footie. We can usually find a pitch, but every time there is Cup/ tournament everyone wants to play footie and just take the field with no knowledge of the game. They just waste the small amount of pitch everyone has to share to play a half-ass footie that turns into a sloppy, messing, stand around and talk to your friend about Barcelona and how we can be as good as them kickball game. And that's why I always drink after the match. A pint a day keeps the doctor away. Cheers

Yelp
Nice walk on the path! If I knew where path started or ended that would be helpful, i'll map it next time.

Yelp
Mini rustic trail. Archer club, softball field, horse ranch. Good place if you like those outdoor activities on weekends.
google avatar

Maximum W.

Yelp
Really nice park, good to go exploring in and just a nice place to walk. There is an old abandon ostrich farm if you are willing to search, just watch out for golf balls. If you take the right path you can go from one side to the other in a short amount of time. Even a playground fast a tunnel down another path. Good place to have fun, explore, or even scare your friends.
google avatar

Gina M.

Yelp
Overall, this is a really great quiet trail that is under used, mostly by locals and by groups at specific times. I know it had an archery range area and a little fly fishing practice "pond" which is a really unique attraction. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because sometimes the water at certain parts of the trail looks like absolute disgusting sewage and smells god awful. It is only on certain days and parts of the year and definitely does not deter enough to stay away. Oh yeah, almost forgot, it's great of dogs as we'll.

Franky M.

Yelp
Shady, nice clean bathrooms. Playground is in a shady spot, and there are lots of places to run around..Arroyo seco trail runs through if you wanna take a beautiful walk..sweet horses nearby to visit. Baseball games on the weekends make this little park feel like you've gone back in time. There is a dog park 1/4 mile away as well as a mini it golf course and bar.. this little gem can't get better!
google avatar

Lyna H.

Yelp
When I went, they were doing construction on a bridge and was unable to pass to get to the Colorado bridge. To get there, you must walk under a tunnel where somewhere lives (creeped me out!), then youre walking on a small path behind a horse barn and then you finally reach the river and the path is just along the river.
google avatar

Yelp
Great afternoon walk with fine features even for infrequent hikers. Read Charles Fleming's hiking notes in the LA Times http://lat.ms/TcKCAl

Stephen K.

Yelp
Nice, relatively quiet getaway spot....the Arroyo park stretches from the public Arroyo Seco Golf Course, some soccer fields and a horse stables (which make up the Lower Park) all the way up to the drainage area in front of JPL. The trails wind through the canyon on both sides of the drainage canal all the way to the Aquatic Center, the Rose Bowl, the Brookside Golf Course, under the 210 and into the dry lake area. This network of parks is great for all kinds of activites, including hiking, horseback riding, drinking, soccer, baseball, archery, practicing fly fishing, making out, jogging, swimming, all kinds of games, football, doing drugs of all kinds, tennis and so on. Some part of the park has the facilities to accommodate almost every kind of physical activity...there's fields, playgrounds, game courts...all kinds of fun activities of varying legality can be had here. A blast.
google avatar

Teresa L.

Yelp
I went here for a jog, and I was very impressed with how beautiful the rustic scenery was. The trails are easy to navigate, and there are plenty of people out and about during the daylight hours. Bonus that there is plenty of free parking.
google avatar

Glenda E.

Yelp
Awesome location for hiking and sightseeing. The trail is flat so there aren't many inclines. This is great if you're looking for something easy. Perfect for children and horseback riding. There's also free Archery lessons every Saturday.

Yelp
Calling all runners. If in nela, probably the best, most scenic running route nearby. As a former west-sider I got spoiled with long runs in Venice and Santa Monica. As a former Hollywood resident I got spoiled with Griffith Park and Runyon. Moved eastside and loved many things about it but lamented no good place for long runs. I'm embarassed it took me almost two years to find this route but it was yelp help that did it. You can easily get double digits (if looping) and it's mostly flat and dare I say it often times bucolic. Yes there is the occasional horse (and corresponding horse bidness) that you will need to contend with but it's worth it.
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
Place is nice...won't find any parking during Little League games and during Little League practice the overlap with soccer. Poor little kids...having to see the big kids run around and pretend they don't exist :(
google avatar

Foster K.

Yelp
You can't beat the Lower Arroyo for (almost) pristine nature, right in the middle of an urban area. I've seen tons of birds here, and if it wasn't for the concrete culvert and the bridges, I'd think I was in the Angeles Forest. A great option for a quick morning walk or jog (no bikes!), or even an after-work outing.
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Great place to find pick-up soccer games (with lights on) without being harrased. That, and the surroundings are great!

Benjamin S.

Yelp
My wife, son, and dogs love this place. Dog owners--we should organize ourselves and try to get the off-leash restrictions in the Arroyo amended. The stringent enforcement is driving out responsible, otherwise law-abiding people who make up a vast roving patrol that makes the Arroyo a safe place for everyone. Surely the Pasadena Police Department would want to free up its very limited resources to fight crime. But just as surely, we must propose measures--such as a special off-leash license that could only be obtained with a fee and by having the dog pass an obedience test (to ensure that the dog isn't aggressive and that the owner can control the dog)--that will be palatable to the City. Any owners who want to fight City Hall (admittedly, not an enticing offer), please respond to this post, and i will try to assemble a group of us.
google avatar

Shawn J.

Yelp
Beautiful park with a wonderful archery range and really friendly archers. Mostly traditional archers and lots of longbows. Love it. I would have given them 5 stars if they had more variety in the topography of their walk through course.
google avatar

Tatsu I.

Yelp
Nice and quiet archery range. Well maintained and friendly people. I go there to shoot arrows at least once a week!
google avatar

Ruby C.

Yelp
I love this place it's very beautiful and peaceful,it's great for when you want to get away from everything for a while, the only thing i don't like is that they don't allow dog's off leash but i guess it's for your dog's saftey but other than that the park is great.

Cami c.

Yelp
Love taking my dog here-- cone here every week. It's great hanging out in the shade under the trees. There's a great dog park right down the street as well. Hidden gem!

Joe C.

Yelp
Very nice park close to South Pasadena. Convenient. I used the walking trail along the arroyo and spotted a great barn with plenty of horses. Made arrangements for lessons. Ball parks and dog park, a little country gem tucked away in a big city.
