"The Capitol Hill standby rolled out high tea service in recent years. Bite-sized treats arrive with an array of regular blend or CBD teas from Elevated Tea Company, as well as tea-infused cocktails, a glass of bubbly, or sweets. Available Friday to Sunday for $65; $77 with a glass of bubbly; or $25 for kids under 12." - Tierney Plumb, Emily Venezky
"Following a multi-million dollar renovation, Yotel hotel’s lobby-level restaurant with a nice patio surfaced with a heightened focus on mid-Atlantic ingredients. Newly named executive chef Robert Weland just introduced a fall menu full of red wine-braised rabbit and Long Island duck breast with local peaches, fennel, and lavender. The restaurant still makes a mean fried chicken meal with Anson Mills grits and has an extensive bar bites menu." - Missy Frederick, Tierney Plumb
"Tim Wright, the owner of Attucks Adams, is the host of this tour that dives into why U Street earned its nickname of Black Broadway, complete with a 40-song playlist you'll hear as you walk. It's an inside look at this vibrant neighborhood: the story begins back in 1867 with the founding of Howard University and covers up until the go-go music scene of today. The tour often spans small groups, and you'll definitely want to reserve a spot. Howard Theatre, the grand, circa-1910 building where jazz great Duke Ellington once played, is a fitting starting point. The overarching theme of the U Street tour hits home how Black people had to recreate the institutions they were locked out due to racism and segregation, be that musical institutions or legal institutions and beyond. Tour stops include the site of Washington Conservatory of Music and School of Expression, Ben's Chili Bowl, the site of the Waxie Maxie Record Store, and the section of the neighborhood known as Little Ethiopia." - Adele Chapin
"Furry friends at YOTEL’s lobby-level restaurant are invited to have a gourmet meal in the shadow of the U.S. Capitol. The pooch patio menu includes the A-Woof Con Pollo (chicken, rice and vegetables), the Hungry Dog (grilled and sliced sirloin), and peanut-and-banana pupsicles. Weekdays happy hour (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.) includes discounts on confit chicken wings, Maryland crab deviled eggs, wine, beer, and select cocktails." - Tierney Plumb, Vinciane Ngomsi
"This Capitol Hill restaurant celebrates spooky season with drink specials like “Just A Bunch of Hocus Pocus,” made with matcha-infused vodka, cold-pressed green apple juice, basil ginger syrup, and lemon juice with a spray of absinthe and charcoal salt around the rim." - Kalina Newman
