What a treasure in the heart of downtown Concord. I had heard about the aRt Cottage before but found by accident. Fro is the owner, is so welcoming and a pleasure to talk to. She took the time to tell us about the history of aRt Cottage and it's current show (craft fair), tell us about some of the classes and highlight a raffle for chairity. Every room of the aRt Cottage has art and crafts on display for purchase, everything from eorks on canvas, framed photography, and jewelry, to handmade quilts and sculptures. When you have a moment and want a little escape the aRt Cottage is a must visit

Lovely atmosphere where art project classes are offered and a charming gallery too. There are also private art classes in several media including clay, painting and drawing. There is even a gift shop! Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
The best kept secret in Concord! I had the privilege of visiting this gem for an art project. I was warmly welcomed by the owner, Fro, and her student. You will find an array of paintings, photographs, mixed-media, watercolors, and more. Local artists are featured in a rotating gallery every month, or every other month. There is art in every section of the cottage, including the bathroom. I am inspired to show some of my work, as encouraged by Fro. If you are looking for texture and movement, you will not be disappointed. There is ample parking and plenty of natural light.

Yelp
It's a cute little place with a gallery space, opens into a little courtyard in the back. There's a small shop and a studio also. The owner is very kind, resourceful and friendly to talk to! They have classes for painting and pottery! For an artist this place will definitely be very appealing!

Yelp
An art gallery in Concord? Well, amazingly, yes. aRt Cottage is located a short walk from downtown Concord and has become a vibrant force for the local art community. Exhibits rotate monthly around a highly diverse set of themes, with accompanying openings where you can meet the artists and share music and food. Recent shows included new works from the Concord Art Association, Vietnam War art, The Body Revealed and a DVC artist show. My wife and I stopped by for the first time on a recent Friday afternoon as the gallery was being set up for their sixth annual Holiday Boutique. The owner, FROgard Butler, friendly and outgoing, personally gave us a tour of the gallery, answering any questions we had. FRO is an artist and this gallery is her labor of love, a cottage she has creatively converted into a local gallery for art. While we were there, she also had an art class going out back with enthusiastic students that had put aside their phones for a couple hours to discover their analog, artistic side. Individual and group classes for adults and students in a variety of artistic mediums are available here. The converted cottage makes for a funky gallery with small rooms that allow you to make a somewhat circular tour through the exhibits on display. I loved that there was no pressure here, no stuffy, uncomfortable atmosphere you get in the high-end San Francisco galleries. But that doesn't mean you can't find beautiful art, such as the ink studies by Lee von Rackel. The aRt Cottage is a wonderful addition to the local art scene here in Concord. Definitely a find for East Bay art lovers.

Yelp
What a welcoming, loving, vibrant and joyful environment to learn in! Fro, thank you for creating such a safe space for students of all ages and walks of life to come and practice self expression through creating art.

Yelp
We just had my daughters sixth birthday here. It was lovely and well organized. The girls had so much fun and the cottage is beautiful. We will definitely be back. Fro is a wonderfully warm lady who makes you feel at home right away. She engaged the kids and was on top of everything. Loved it!

Yelp
Happy to find aRt Cottage while looking for parking in the neighborhood north of Todos Santos Square. And yet a bit disappointed to know it has been in business for five years and I did not know about it. The charming garden and wisteria-covered entrance added to the ambiance -- and certainly pulled me into the gallery. While I found the current showing to be rather uneven in quality, I did see a few pieces that were more than pleasing to my eye. I also liked the lovely assortment of greeting cards from local artists at amazingly low prices. (Half the price of many "special" cards I purchase from Papyrus.) Fro was very welcoming.. She was a wealth of information on Concord history, too. I was happy to add my name to her email list so I can stay updated on future events.

Yelp
I recently joined the aRt Cottage community, and am glad I did! aRt Cottage is capitalized like that to emphasize it's R cottage - our place to explore our creativity and display it. My first show there is the Holiday Boutique - on thru December. Fro, the owner/manager/curator/Jill=of=all-trades, was welcoming and encouraging - she IS positivity which sparks it in you. I encourage YOU to check it out - there is a wide array of art and crafted items displayed and for sale. It means so much for an artist to have their handiwork recognized and appreciated - liked or loved so much that a person is ready to purchase. Looking at the prices, I think there are some steals there! In my mind, art enriches life after temporarily lightening the wallet. I found myself buying pieces - handmade glass, lovely!

Yelp
Concord keeps showing remarkable signs of life. This is another one. A sweet little hidden spot showcasing work by some very talented, local artists. Walking distance from Todos Santos Plaza. I've only been to one show here and was very happy I went. FRO (this is her brainchild) is generous and inspired.

Yelp
Love to see great art made by local artists. The location is a beautiful setting and the curator is knowledgeable and a pleasure to know. I want to be an artist and she is extremely encouraging and may take her up on her guiding me.

Yelp
FRO the caretaker is very helpful/educational about learning artistic techniques. Plus she is a resource for learning/experiencing various artwork at her home/shop. I plan to teach her how to mow a lawn with a weed whacker and other productive stuff like organizing things when shes busy talking about art and other stuff to interested party(ies). squinja7000

Yelp
Great little art gallery in a tiny cottage. The colorful walls are a break from the usual gallery white but it works! The circular pattern of the rooms allows you to meander through, looking at all the pieces. The pleasant patio in back and the wisteria covered porch in front are perfect for relaxing before making a second round through the show. I've been twice; once for the opening of the Africa Show (B&W photos and colorful paintings....great combination, great art). There was food, music outside, lots of people and it was great. I returned on a quiet weekday for the same show. With just two of us, I think I appreciated the setting even more, got to talk to the owner-gallery director, took even more time with each piece. If that isn't enough, this spot is just 1.5 blocks off Todos Santos Square. Lots of interesting restaurants, representing dozens of international cuisines, within an easy walk, Farmer's markets on Tues and Thursday during the summer, open air concerts many weekends....great afternoon location.

Yelp
The aRt Cottage opened a few months ago in Concord. It is the coolest, funkiest little art gallery around. FROgard Butler is a local artist, owner and a delightful person. The Cottage exhibits works by local artists in rotating one month shows. If you are looking for something to do during the week or on a weekend afternoon, stop by and say hi to FRO and see some great art.

Yelp
I visited aRt Cottage in Concord today and loved it! A charming art gallery inside and out, this is a great place to view works by local artists. I will be returning often, as the gallery has such a friendly atmosphere, talented artists, and it's just a short walk from Todos Santos Plaza. I look forward to seeing more beautiful art exhibitions here. Support the local art scene and visit aRt Cottage soon.

Yelp
I came by here for my art design class. There was a very friendly lady who showed me around this unique art gallery, which also has classes and workshops. There are a few cute dogs that roam around inside the gallery as well. The art is by local artists and I believe the themes of the exhibits change each month. Definitely stop by here if you get the chance! :)

Yelp
I have enjoyed each visit to the aRT Cottage and was very pleased to meet FRO! She took me around both showings and told me a bit about each artist and their styles. I appreciated the personal attention. The two showing were well presented and easy to enjoy. First showing was strictly paintings and I was very surprised to find three of the painters were people that I knew but wasn't aware that they painted! The second showing was a mixture of beautiful B&W photographs from Africa and beautiful paintings with an Africa theme! I will continue stopping by on occasion for a quick treat of art and a chat with FRO!
