The 16 Best Bars In Long Beach

"This tiny wine bar next door to the Long Beach Art Theatre is a good place to start a night out. Walk in, sit at the bar, and tell the person behind the counter what kind of wine you’re in the mood for. They’ll keep pouring until you find the one you’re looking for—and will keep going even if you nailed it on the first try. After you’ve picked your wine, sit on the sidewalk patio, and repeat. Actually, you might just end up spending your whole night here instead." - brant cox, nikko duren

Art Du Vin Review - Long Beach - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"This tiny wine bar next to an arthouse cinema is a good place to start a night out. Walk in, sit at the bar, and tell the guy behind it what kind of wine you’re in the mood for. He’ll keep pouring until you find the one you’re looking for - and will keep going even if you landed on a keeper the first try. After you’ve picked your wine, sit on the sidewalk patio, and repeat. Google
I’ve been coming here for years and I’m glad that they’ve added more seating but it is mostly outdoors so it’s cold during this time or year. It is warming up again though so I’m excited to go more often. They only sell wine though so if you’re not into that you’re in the wrong place. Everyone I’ve encountered has been kind and helpful if I need suggestions. A great place to sit and people watch on 4th

I enjoyed a lovely glass of wine (and maybe even a hard kombucha..... 🤔 ). The wine was lovely great service, fun guests and super music. I also had a small cheese plate which was a nice pairing. Will be back. So good.

Google
Such a cute little spot. My friend and I came here for happy hour after work on a whim, and it did not disappoint!! Liv and Jake were so friendly and knowledgeable! They were able to make some delicious recommendations that were just what we needed after a long day -- I tried "The Colby" and it was the perfect balance of fruity and refreshing. Will definitely be back!

The gentlemen working was so sweet. I came here for my birthday with friends and it was just so delightful

Google
Fun outside atmosphere with couch seating (with pillows) in front and traditional table seating around (think hamburger joint) the servers are knowledgeable and of they dont know the answer the owner is on hand to answer any further questions. The wine selection is small but hand picked and has a few other options on hand if your not in the mood for wine. The area is always lively even on a tuesday evening (which is when we went)

Wines are beautiful, enjoyed a original chard that was delightful. The most amazing part was Byron!!!! He made the experience so special. We just got engaged and are on our way to Bali. LA was a layover for us and we came down to long beach because "all is right in the LBC." WHAT A SWEET AND AMAZING BARTENDER AND HOST FOR THE EVENING. Thank you sweet Byron for your illuminating personality and hospitality. Incredible service.

Google
Great wine list that includes orange options, lovely cheese board and copious amounts of outdoor, sidewalk-facing seating. Evenings are pretty under the yellow string lights that stretch across 4th Street. The bar abuts an indie theater, so plan accordingly for a drink and flick!

Google
It's a cute little place. Very self service. They have some nice places to sit and play a game whilst drinking wine and talking to friends. It is right next to the Art Theatre so it is a great place to hang out while you are waiting for your movie or show.

Yelp
I've came here a long time ago, and now that I live in Long Beach, had to visit again! It's a great little spot. I like how simple and seating is on the street or on the shared bench inside and out. Service is easy order at the counter and they brought me some happy hour orange @ $45 which I thought was reasonable! (5-7 daily I think) Will be back and to try the pizza spot across the street.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with this natural wine shop! ***LOCATION*** This tiny and charming wine bar is located in Retro Row, right next to the Art Theatre. Seating is mainly outside. There is a parklet to sit at and some benches right in front. ***EXPERIENCE*** We stopped by on a Friday evening around 9pm (they close at 10pm). I got us an incredibly delicious bottle of Biutiful Cava Brut. We sat on the benches outside. They had pillows and a small table. I loved that there were blankets. It was a chilly night and I adored wrapping myself in a large blanket with a great glass of wine and even better company. ***PRICE*** Our bottle and tip came out to about $64. It isn't necessarily a cheap spot, but it's a vibe and you're bound to have some really yummy wine. ***CONCLUSION*** This is a wonderful spot to go to before or after a show at the theatre. It's a lovely spot to unwind with friends and have some tasty wine.

Yelp
Amazing, relaxing place! James was very helpful and knowledgeable. Their selection of wines was phenomenal and reasonably priced. 10/10

Yelp
Finally popped in. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. Such great guys working there. Super friendly and knowledgeable. I am a huge fan of really stinky barnyardy wines. They didn't have any. I was a little surprised since its a natural wine shop, but I also know that those wines are not really popular. I would be a regular for sure if there was a wider selection of some gamey/stinky wines. Love this place and deff will be back either way.

Yelp
This is a lovely, little, artsy wine bar. I love the outdoor seating that faces the busy street. My husband and I enjoyed a nice bottle of Rose. Prices are reasonable, and the lovely ambiance really sets the vibe. I'd definitely come back for another bottle of wine.

Yelp
Took a stroll down 4th street this weekend to enjoy the nice weather and saw the cute outside set up that Art Du Vin has set up and instantly wanted to go there to enjoy the space! They have happy hour until 7, which consists of $13 glasses of selected wines. We tried "fire fuego," which is an orange wine that was not on happy hour and $17 a glass. I love a good orange wine though so I had to try it, and it was, fuego! My favorite was actually the happy hour glass I tried, which was called "one musk a night." It's a type of white wine that has a salty taste to it, I haven't had anything like this before and I loved it! This was also one of the staff pick's, Kelly's, great choice! After we paid we took our wine glasses in the cute outside area to people watch until we left. Was a great Saturday!

Yelp
I love this little wine bar so much! It's small but so cute and everyone working here is friendly and knowledgeable. They recently built a parklet so there's additional seating outside. They have some happy hour glasses of wine for $13 from opening until 7pm which is amazing. Follow them on Instagram for updates on hours & events :)

Yelp
Cutest little wine bar in this stretch of Long Beach! I've come here a few times now and they always have a great selection of wines. I was wishing they had more space and I believe they recently set up an expanded "patio" on the street so I'm glad for it.
google avatar

Beverly M.

Yelp
Wine and service was great but 17$ and 18$ for a white wine and a cab? That's excessive. I likely would only be back for a happy hour if they have one. Their patio outside was a perfect little place to chat with my mom and the server turned on the heater for us. They also did not have restrooms at their location. Very cute and quaint but you could probably fit 4 ppl max in here.

Yelp
I love this romantic little wine bar located next to a historic theater. A nice little selection for wines and yes you can take a bottle into the theater for an evening show. They also have a membership that includes two bottles a month and 10% off in store glasses. Dog friendly ! Billie approves

Yelp
My friend and I stopped here before the movie right next-door. We tried their orange and rosé wines. I liked the orange, my friend didn't care for it. The manager who is working was really nice and it's a perfect spot if you get to the movie a little bit early. They have new Parklet so there's plenty of seating and people watching.

Yelp
My first time here was on the last 4th Fridays. Every store and restaurant down 4th street was poppin - and Art Du Vin was no exception. I was very pleased to see their selection of natural and organic wines, but most of all I was super excited to see they offered orange wines!! I have been dying to try some for the last year or so. Luckily they were having a 20% off special on one of their Orange wines. It was called Disco! Sauv Blanc and it was delicious. We also tried another orange wine which was recommended by the girl working that night. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of the full paper menu that weekend so I can't remember what this one was called, but I liked it even more than the Disco orange wine. After ordering inside we took our glasses outside to one of the tables along the street so we could people watch. Fast forward 2 days - I loved the orange wine so much I came back on Sunday afternoon with one of my girlfriends and we were pleasantly surprised to find out we came during their weekend happy hour! {FYI it is Sat/Sun from 3-6pm} We ordered a glass of the orange Tez and another glass of my favorite orange from Friday night. Overall I had a good experience here and can't wait to be back to try all the other wines. The only thing I wish they had here is some snacks or small plates!

Yelp
My bestie & I love coming to this cute spot on 4th and sitting outside with a glass of wine or two, especially during their happy hour that lasts until 7pm! All the employees are great at providing good wine recommendations & the best service. It's a must to visit!

Yelp
Always a fiver here. Great selection of all natural wines including several orange varieties from funky to practically a rose. Good vibe sitting outside on 4th retro row watching the area buzz with activity. That said, I'm super bummed about the loss of their parklet. It was a great expansion and kinda livened thins up IMO. Hope the get it back... come on Long Beach, don't be such bureaucrats!) Try to stop in whenever possible for a glass or two. Great for an intimate friend catch-up or maybe a date ;) One critique, I wish they'd open earlier on Fridays -- but the same could be said for all wine venues on 4th. I have had friends in town a few times and nowhere to start an afternoon catch-up over vino, which is often a valued component to the events. Service is also fab and they know how to give valued recs on what to order and will give as much or little info you need in the moment to make the choice. You know, I want to learn all about the flavor profiles, terroir and personal story of the winemaker... check. Or today I'm deep in the banter with my friend and need a fast option for a light orange... check. Recommended local hang for chill wine enthusiasts. Not the downtown drunk-puking-on-Pine-by-7pm crowd. Head west for that business.

Yelp
Such a great neighborhood spot to go grab a glass of wine with a friend or alone. They have a great selection and friendly staff. The place is very small inside but they do offer outside seating so not good for big groups and seating is limited with first come first serve.
google avatar

Angie L.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to chill out in Long Beach. The staff is super knowledgeable about wines. The outside seating area is super cute. It really encourages people to interact and be social with other groups outside of their own. There are also now extra outside seating that are high tops outside as well. If you are hungry, you can order food from next door. A great place to bring friends and pet friendly patio. One note for parents, they don't allow babies/kids on the patio. So best saved for a kid-free date night.

Yelp
Natural wines, friendly service and cute spot! We will def be back! Plus pup loved the small patio area :)

Yelp
This little wine bar is heaven. Byron is always a treat. You should go. Now! That's honestly the point of this review. Art Du Vin specializes in carrying organic wines and has such a great selection and a genuinely knowledgeable staff! I have gone several times, not necessarily knowing if I'm in the mood for a red or a white, and the staff will help you pick out your glass of choice without the stress of being pressured to find one quickly! The selection they have is so unique....even if you enjoy a simple Pinot Noir or you want to branch out and get some sort of Cab Franc Blend, you'll have have plenty of options. During COVID times their patio is extended and just as beautiful as ever. The staff will usually come to you to take your order, but the same thing applies - they'll find you that perfect glass, and be excited about it as well! They are even collaborating with their neighbor, HipPea, in case you are in the mood for some falafel with your favorite glass of white! The patio is pet friendly and they even have blankets to hand out for these chilly California nights. When the Art Theatre is open, you're also able to bring a bottle to the theater, along with a little discount! I view Art du Vin as such a staple of the 4th Street strip, and I have absolutely no complaints. Absolutely check them out when you can!

Yelp
Excellent in every way. The staff was knowledgeable and super friendly..The manager Olivia made me feel like family. Assistant manager Jake is so good, he should be promoted, he's fantastic. Newbie James made a great suggestion which satisfied in every way. I will definitely return every time I come to town.

Yelp
When I came here, I didn't have a really great experience. A fly flew into my drink and there was a man who worked there that offered to spoon my fly out. As grateful I am, that made me feel really uncomfortable and did not make me want to finish my drink. Most restaurants would offer to grab a new glass immediately, but I didn't feel that vibe from this place. The female waitresses were super kind and I liked them a lot. I didn't have a great experience with the male waiter and wish I liked this place more because the outside was really cute. Meh.

Yelp
First time visiting this wine bar a few days ago, and this was such a nice spot to have a conversation with someone over some wine. Lovely staff, great wine selection, and the perfect ambiance for having conversation. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Great location on 4th. A great pour on Wednesday night for $5. The red wine I got was very savory and the price was right. Service was great. Parking can get tricky.

Yelp
Jake was so kind and helpful!! Recommended a wine that was exactly what I was looking for. Definitely will be returning. Best wine bar in Long Beach.

Yelp
This wine bar unfortunately did not live up to the reviews. We were heading to Carpenter Performing Arts Center to see friends perform in American in Paris. Looking for a cool fun place to have a nice glass of wine we did a quick search and found Art Du Vin. Located on Retro Row next to the Arts Theater. The photos looked cool, and we decided to give it a try. Parking easy, unique shops, and vintage stores and looked promising. Bar is tiny with maybe 6-8 seats inside and a small patio. There were 6 people sitting outside and 3 inside. Inside the 3 people and a dog on the floor spread out taking up the entire bar area. It was obvious they were not going to make room and disrupt or welcome others into their conversation. That was ok we saw 3-4 seats outside that we thought we could squeeze into. Again, a group in the corner spread out with 4 people taking up 8 seats. We asked if we could sit in the two seats in the middle to which we were told NO! They were waiting on people to arrive (BTW no additional people showed up for at least 45 minutes and it was only 2 additional people)? Wow, never have I seen such rude unwelcoming behavior and in a wine bar! Fine we took our glasses of wine and stood in front of the theater to drink our wine. Well, it would have been fine if at least the wine was good. $14 for a Barbera that was not good at all..usually a nice dry, easy drinking, fruity flavorful wine. This tasted cheap and hard to choke down. That was disappointing! All in all I would pass on this place - locals only and you are made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, stand on sidewalk to choke down terrible overpriced wine. There were some cute places down the street we wish we had chosen over this place. Save your money and time...clearly, they only want local money. Which is fine I am happy to spend elsewhere!

ValleyGirl Y.

Yelp
Very cute ambiance and knowledgeable staff. The space is small, quaint and intimate. They have a small outdoor space that has heaters. Their offering reflects a good variety of seasonal wines.

Jessica M.

Yelp
This cute wine bar is a must stop in LB, whether a local or just stopping through town. I decided to swing by for a solo glass after work and was pleasantly surprised. I'm not a big drinker and don't know all that much about wines, but Olivia was super helpful and took the time to introduce me to a few. I even brought home a delicious and juicy cab franc! Cozy atmosphere and good vibes from guests and staff alike. Will definitely be bringing my friends there for happy hour this weekend!!

Erin C.

Yelp
Love this spot! It is chill, warm, friendly and the staff always makes me feel right at home right away. I asked for a cold, dry orange wine and Olivia quickly pointed me to a super tasty glass. There was another tall handsome lad working who was super friendly and down to crack some jokes. Overall, a great local spot to grab some natty juice. Highly recommend!! Cheers!

Yelp
Art du Vin re-opened last night after undergoing Covid era adjustments. Really cool parklet with comfortably placed stools. Wine selection is as pre Covid. Per City requirement food is being served in the form of cheese and crackers and raw veggies with dip. The Hippea falafel shop is located adjacent also. Kerstin, Jessica, Byron and Ben did an outstanding job serving everyone and keeping us all sanitized!!! Great location on 4th street in the heart of Retro Row!

Chelsea B.

Yelp
this bar is amazing. James was an absolute delight! he deserves a raise. I came in not knowing anything about wine and he answered every question I had. I would definitely come back just because of him. 10/10

Yelp
I enjoyed a lovely glass of wine (and maybe a hard kombucha ). The wine is lovely, great service , fun guests and super music. I alsl had a small cheese plate which plate which paired nicely with the wine (and kombucha). It's located on 4th street in its heart so fab people watching. Also they have games and a small but good record collection to enjoy. Fab.

Alex P.

Yelp
Was expecting a more interesting and extensive list but felt very underwhelmed by the staffs knowledge and recommendations. Leaves much to be desired.
google avatar

Yelp
I had a nice time. Wine, taste until you Love one. Then buy a bottle and order a charcuterie plate. Drink, be merry. Repeat. I had the lovely host build a tray...... twice. Enjoyed myself and thought the $$ was pretty ok. I like dried fruit, and nuts on my tray. But i overall I enjoyed my visit

Yelp
Saturday night we were poking around 4th st and we decided to stop in at Art du Vin. It's really a cool little spot. The gentlemen working that night Damien is a sweetheart, he's very knowledgeable... the man knows his wines. We had a great conversation with him he seems to know a lot about a wide variety of subjects which is always great. Now onto the wine... since really that's the point of the review ;) I was looking for a good white wine since it was a warm evening.... of course the name Dionysus popped out at me. I was happy that it also happened to be a good white wine, it has passionfruit and tropical fruit aromas. The boyfriend had a red wine Tierra del Fuego also very good. We got there a bit late, infact I think the place closes at 9pm, but Damien let us stay and have 2 glasses of wine and since we were unable to partake in the appetizers, he gave us a bit of bread with some really nice EVOO and vinegar. I'm thinking we will make this one of our spots. After all "I promised I would drown myself in mystic heated wine..."

Danielle L.

Yelp
Olivia and Megan were absolutely amazing. They gave great recommendations and were so sweet. This place is so cute and cozy, and their charcuterie was great! Thank you so much!!

Samantha B.

Yelp
Olivia and Megan were great!!! Great wine and awesome atmosphere. Highly recommend this place!!

Yelp
Simple and friendly, a welcome pit stop along Long Beach's 4th Street Strip. A tall chalkboard menu of reds, whites and rosés, plus some sparkling. I was recommended a chilled Spanish white, and some lavender goats cheese to go along with it. There's a short menu of several cheeses for nibbling: come here for wine, not food. I was served a generous glass of a fragrant white. The cheese was served with a nice smear of fig jam, some crunchy and chewy toasts and a smile. Just perfect.

Yelp
Enjoyed this beautiful wine bar a few Friday nights ago. It's perfect for enjoying a glass of wine after eating on 4th street
google avatar

Sara Jane M.

Yelp
Perfect little neighborhood spot! Nancy is a gem and super fun! Super helpful in helping me pick out the perfect wine!
google avatar

Tom A.

Yelp
Tiny and not cheap, however it's quiet. There may be other wine bars on the block that have turned into loud bars rather than lounges so I say worth most every penny. Diverse wine selection cannot be beat! It's usually always busy but everyone seems to realize how small it is and are polite. Bring your own vinyl options are great. Bring a record in and they'll play it!
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
Elegant and cozy! Grabbed a glass of wine with my Mom while waiting for our food from HipPea. Nice wine list, I enjoyed a crisp Rose in such an elegant glass I ordered it on Prime while waiting. After observing the crowd, it seems that this is definitely a neighborhood place, it was sweet how everyone knew each other.

Yelp
So glad I finally had a chance to check this place out. They've got a great, fun wines. A lot of classics alongside interesting blends and bubbles. A relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere and good music. Bonus: the patio is a pup-magnet. We will absolutely be back. A lot.

Yelp
This is hands down one of my favorite places in Long Beach. Stephanie the owner is full of knowledge and passion for her craft. She helped us choose wine we would love. The part I loved most was that she knew not only the flavor notes but the whole story behind each vintner. Also, they offered cheese plates that had really great selections of cheese. We were lucky enough for Stephanie to guide us to picking cheeses that would pair well with what we were drinking. If I could have a perfect Sunday, it would always include an afternoon on Art Du Vin patio!!

Reev U.

Yelp
We used to come here all the time pre-pandemic and it was one of our favorite places in Long Beach to enjoy a glass (or bottle) of wine and converse with other wine enthusiasts. When things reopened and the place came under new management, we noticed that the vibe had changed. Mainly because they would often close early and it left us feeling unwelcome and rushed to finish our wine, even though their stated hours indicated they should be open for another hour or two. We took a break for a few months and chalked it up to adjusting to the new "normal". Decided to give it another shot tonight thinking things are opening up even more and they should be back to normal hours. Wrong! They closed an hour early once again even though there were quite a few of us there enjoying wine. We were asked to close out and that unwelcome feeling came rushing back. Not sure I'll be coming back anytime soon as the business hours can't be trusted. If you want to change your hours, post them correctly on your website, Google, social media, etc...

Yelp
This place is so cute. So is the owner Stephanie. I am not a wino and don't know a lick about wines but she made me feel at home at her wine bar :) On Tuesdays, it's 20% off bottles so my girlfriends and I shared one :) we shared a Chardonnay and it was delicious. I was also here a bit earlier than my friends and Stephanie was kind enough to include me in some wine tasting with the wine rep! Thank you! We also got a small plate with some salami, two cheeses, honey and the best homemade bread ever! I think I ate most of it haha. Anyways, this place is lovely, the service is awesome, parking is plentiful (2hr street and $0.50/hr lot), and you can tell that there are a lot of regulars that genuinely love this place and come by all the time! I like that! I will definitely be back and have already recommended this place to all my friends :)
google avatar

Glen N.

Yelp
Great wines and swell staff. The seating is limited in the tiny patio, making it the best place in Long Beach to inadvertently play musical chairs. Bonus: you can bring your wine into the movie theater next door.
google avatar

Gabby B.

Yelp
Such a cute and cozy little bar. I love this place. The wine selection is excellent. The vibes here are great. The service is wonderful.

Yelp
When the Art Theater's projector broke down and the showing my friends and I wanted to see got cancelled, this is where we ended up (along with a bunch of other people in the same boat). But hey, it turned out to be great. It's always been a cute quaint place, but with the addition of the little outdoor patio they not only expanded their seating capacity, they created a cool place to chill out and enjoy a warm summer evening. Service was a bit slow, but the guy behind the counter was working with just one arm (the other was in a sling, he wasn't missing an arm, not that there's anything wrong with that) so I guess I'll cut him some slack. My friends and I enjoyed our wines (white sangria!) and the chillaxed vibe of the outdoor patio--can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Art Du Vin is a trendy wine bar in Downtown Long Beach, right next to the art theatre. The bar itself is pretty small, but they make very good use of the space. Inside, they about 5 bar seats, and there are several other seats with high tables out on the patio. After sitting in both locations throughout the night, I would definitely recommend the patio if the weather is nice. It much easier to converse with your friends since your aren't sitting in a row, and the chairs are VERY comfortable. I loved the style of this bar! Brick walls, chalkboard menu, stacked bottles, and a shelf of vinyl records. Listening to these records provided such a great mood for drinking wine with friends. The service at Art Du Vin was one of the best I have ever experienced. We were served by a young woman who was running the whole shop and provided such personalized service. My friends and I weren't quite sure what we wanted, so she gave us three wine samples to help us choose. She also told us that it was a better deal to split a bottle, which we realized was true! She was very accommodating in helping us split the bill 3 ways, which I know can be annoying for servers, but she didn't seem to mind. The great service definitely helped us have a great experience! For such a small bar, Art Du Vin has a pretty large wine selection. After sampling three of the wines, my friends and I decided on a wine called "3 Rings", which is one that we all really liked. I didn't notice beer when I first looked at the menu, but later in the night I saw someone with a beer, but obviously it's mostly wine at this place! It's really nice because if you don't finish your bottle, you can take it home, which is what we did. This is such a nice place bar in Downtown LB, and I'd love to come back!
