Art Walk was quite the event. It's only on Thursday evening at certain times of the year, so check the schedule before you go. As a patron of other art walks and festivals in the U.S., I had certain expectations of what it would be like. This was more like a carnival than a traditional art walk where you simply admire the art. There was lots of noise, street vendors, musical acts, dancing. All very cool. I enjoyed the street art the best. But I didn't see many actual galleries--lots of jewelry stores, knick-knack shops, and pharmacies--tons of pharmacies, but not many art galleries. Maybe we didn't go on the right street, but we walked around a lot.
I never did get a chance to enjoy a nice wine while I looked at art in a gallery (the wine came later when we were at a restaurant waiting for the Uber driver to pick us up. In fact, Uber is a great way to get to and from this festival rather than trying to drive yourself and worry about parking).
One must do if you go to the Art Walk is visit the mission and take some pics by the San Jose del Cabo sign with the church in the background. It's a must-do photo op that a bazillion people (including myself) did while there.
The long and short of it is if you expect to hear violins quietly playing Bach in the background while you sip a fine Cabernet as you admire local art, this isn't the event for you. But, if you enjoy a festive atmosphere with lots of stimuli and some cool street art, this is the place for you.
