Artabria

"A restaurant with a historical name (the “Artabrians” were a Celtic tribe who settled in the area) located close to Riazor beach. From the attractively appointed dining room, the kitchen to the rear is partially visible to guests, who can select from a classic à la carte or the option of a varied menu. Specialities well worth trying include the crunchy dish of scallops with a crab cream, smoked salmon rolls with prawn tartare, creamy Carabineros prawns with rice, plus lamprey in season. It is often full thanks to the support of its loyal clientele." - Michelin Inspector

Amazing experience. I had croquetas de marisco and solomillo steak, both excellent. The steak in particular was very good, good cut of meat and cooked exactly as requested (medium rare) with foie and beautiful oporto sauce. The red wine selection is vast and the one recommended, Ribeiro, was delicious and went well with the meat, while being in a very affordable price range. Waiting staff was excellent, polite and communicative. Will be returning soon.

I almost cancelled my reservation when I read some of the reviews. I'm sure glad I didn't! We arrived in time for the last reservation of the day on a Sunday afternoon, at 15:00 I think. I was afraid that maybe we'd get the bums' rush, but that's more of a USA thing. We had a wonderful, leisurely relaxing lunch. We both got the tasting menu, which had both seafood, pork and beef. It was fabulous. It was the second best meal I had in one month spent in Portugal and Spain. The wine recommendations were spot on too.

Excellent food. Menu is extensive and seasonal to a particularly high standard. Definitely fine dining. It can be expensive but worth it Highly recommended.!!

Extremely good cuisine for a very competitive price I had the degustacion menu and every course was great. Special mention to the langoustines. This is really a no brainer in terms of value for money. Service was quick and well timed Small point : wine by the glass was only OK (but a bargain)

An old fashioned restaurant away from the town centre. I only tried 2 dishes but I wasn’t wowed by either of them. Service was excellent though.

Artabria was an experience with more than we could have ever asked for. We were offered an aperitif with our drinks which was incredible. I had the beef with Roquefort cheese. My boyfriend had lubina and we were both blown away by the quality of the food. Everything was fresh and tasteful and plated thoughtfully. We were definitely the youngest couple there without parents as company (I mean younger than 30) and we don’t get to enjoy fine dining often but this was worth one special night out. The waiters treated us well and we left satisfied.
