** The following review reflects my delivery experience DURING the COVID-19 pandemic. **
I know I've seen this Brazilian spot in the shopping center on California in Laurel Heights and was meaning to try it. My flimsy excuse was that I associate Brazilian cuisine with a whole lotta meat rotating on a spit, which I know was not a fair observation, but hey, I have to live with my global culinary ignorance. It's just that I had no idea it would take a pandemic to provide me with the impetus, but maybe that was a blessing in disguise.
That's because I feel like I could now come here with a palpable sense of confidence that I'll get a good meal here now that I've had their food delivered to my home. I went for two dishes that showed off their elan. The first was the $13.99 Chopped Salad, a hearty mix of organic greens, romaine, cherry tomatoes, an avocado half, corn, black beans, red onions, and for Latin-style crunch, plantain chips, with ranch dressing on the side (photo: https://bit.ly/3nYQBst).
Just what I wanted with the tropical backbeat in full check. For my entree, I ordered the $16.99 Chicken Artesano, a couple of meaty chicken thighs marinated in garlic and oregano accompanied by sofrito black beans and organic red quinoa (photo: https://bit.ly/2X8blSR). It was true comfort food, and a nice surprise was the organic green salad with house vinaigrette that came with the chicken (photo: https://bit.ly/34WKygn). That was quite a bit of food, but what I really appreciated was the flexibility of healthy options.
