"This Colombian food truck serves authentic dishes like fresh juices, empanadas, arepas, and patacones (fried green plantains). For a larger meal, try the Colombian bowl, complete with rice, beans, patacones, avocado, and choice of protein like chorizo or shredded chicken." - Sommer Brugal

Google
Finding good Colombian food that’s is not overpriced in South Texas it is a little hard but we are so lucky to have Artessano, an authentic Colombian Food Truck, located in the Austin’s heart!!! Food is so great here that you want to come back over and over again. Obviously, service is a top notch as any other Colombian place, they make you feel at home!! I lived in Venezuela for a while an Artessano have delicious Arepas with the Venezuelan style, also you can find Tequeños , empanadas and other delicias from Colombia y Venezuela!!!

We were headed elsewhere, but landed here. I am glad we did.. we tried Colombian cuisine for the first time and loved it! Also, the server was nice and courteous.. I highly recommend their corn bread filled dish ( I couldn’t gauge any of their dishes name..lol) also guava cheese combo was good.

Google
This food trailer is hard to spot from the street, fortunately I found it while exploring the neighborhood. I had no idea how much I was missing Colombian food, it's so delicious here and very authentic too. Also, the owners are genuine and nice. I highly recommend!

Google
So sad to see them closed ! Some of the best columbian food weve had !!

Luciani Woestemeier

Google
Best Colombian food in Austin. The empanadas I would say are the best in Texas. Also very friendly service.

Ketan Patel

Google
The food at the food trailer was very tasty. I was able to watch them cook it. The salsa on top provided a good, clean contrast to the fried plantains. Would love to rate it higher but the cost was a bit high and we only tried the fried plantain dish. My wife and I will be back to try more food soon.

Google
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST COLOMBIAN FOOD IN AUSTIN. I adore this place, I order one to two times a week. The only reason I drop a star is because the almost always mess a part of my order up. And the price is slightly steep for rice and beans. I know Austinites are all about tacos, but do yourself a favor and try a Colombian Bowl! Its delicious.

Google
Some of the best food I've had in Austin. Super sweet woman who is always there greets guests in such a welcoming way. I love eating at this gem anytime I come back home to visit. Highly recommend.

Kerra S.

Yelp
Super awesome food truck and I really enjoyed the Colombian bowl! Everything I had was delicious and super well priced. It's also a great atmosphere, 5-6 other food trucks are set up (only 3 open at the moment), with music playing and shade. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend this place.

Yelp
During COVID-19 finding great safe places to order food can be a challenge. Really yummy food to pick up or have them bring out to u at your car. I had the vegetarian arepa rellena - super yummy, i love it when vegetarian dishes are so flavorful. My husband said the empanadas were very delicious.

Taylor Z.

Yelp
Wow wow wow! These empanadas are the absolute bomb! We had the guava/cheese, Hawaiian, and beef. My favorite was the Hawaiian! The pineapple and bacon with cheese was absolutely phenomenal! The batter they use is excellent and cooked to perfection with an excellent crisp to the outside. I would say the empanadas are on the smaller side but they are pretty filling and very delicious. The juices here are AWESOME. Super fresh squeezed and you can tell after you've had some. Its light and delicious and definitely no fluff from coloring or added sugars. I would come here just for a juice to be honest! Definitely give this place to try! The bowl is great as well if you want something more filling.

Yelp
Artessano was featured this week as a lunch option at work. I was looking forward to their lunch day as I miss my time in Colombia and the wonderful food. The menu was limited but the Colombian bowl option caught my eye. For about 8 bucks I received a large portion of shredded chicken, beans, rice, avocados, potatoes, and plantains. Food quality, portion size, and cost merit an easy 4 stars. Would love to further explore their menu like empanadas!

Yelp
SO DELICIOUS!! The guy helping me last night was very friendly and even asked me how the food was as I sat at a table nearby eating. So fresh and flavorful. Plantains were fried to perfection, chicken was juicy, everything was just mouth-watering. It was probably the size of what a portion SHOULD be--I was happily filled but not bloating full. I did order it to-go because I'm the queen of leftovers and almost never finish a meal. I ate every single bite easily! That being said, others may say it's a small portion for the price and compared to other places, yeah it kind of is, but it's appropriate I think as far as what an actual serving should be. You're also getting what you pay for--quality, fresh, and fast and friendly service to go with it.

Yelp
I went here at around 8 pm on a Saturday night in a party of 4. Parking: We had to pay for street parking. Atmosphere: This place is a food truck in a food truck yard area. There are a decent number of tables to eat at in the area. Artessano also provided free bug spray to use for customer use. Service: The service was mediocre. We had 3 separate orders. The first two orders (for everyone else) came out quickly. We then waited for like 10 minutes for my order (which was simply the beef version of what my friend ordered) and ended up not getting it until I waited in line again and asked for it. It was just sitting inside the food truck for some reason. There weren't that many customers, so I'm not sure what happened, but life moves on. Food: I ordered the Colombian Bowl, which was advertised on the truck, not on the menu. I have never had Colombian food and didn't know what to expect. I included a picture of the bowl. Meat was tender and tasted pretty good, definitely could've used some more rice for the amount of meat given. I also had a bite of my friend's arepa, which was pretty good! I would probably get the arepa next time I come back. Price: I paid $7 for my food! Not super full afterwards but satisfied nonetheless. I give this place 4 stars for the cheap, decently tasting food. I am glad I came by to this place a shot. It's a little far from where I usually stay while I'm in Austin but I would enjoy a chance to come back here again.

Yelp
Possibly I don't understand the nature of Columbian food. Just had dinner from the truck, the plate, not the various combinations of dough and fillings. Now, I am not a fan of the very spicy -- not any more, now at 82 -- but even so, only one word comes to mind: Boring! Dressed it up with Memphis barbecue sauce to get some flavor into it. The pork was clearly well marinated, and tasty, I suppose -- except I couldn't get much from it. We've had many different varieties of food trucks come by our apartment complex. This is the first to disappoint me.

Mark W.

Yelp
The choclo arreapa is the best I've ever had. There is no line right now and the court offers plenty of social distance as it is empty and all the trucks are ready to serve you instantly.

Rob P.

Yelp
Placed an order on Grubhub for pickup this past Sunday at around 3pm. Drove over there to find their truck closed. No note or anything. Web site said it should have been open but it wasn't. Will hopefully give them a try in the future and give them a fair rating here, but this was a pretty big let down to waste my time like that!!

Eastside W.

Yelp
I just stumbled upon this as a pop up in the lobby of the 816 Congress building - what a find! Juicy, fresh and just delicious - cannot wait to visit them on E. 6th Street!

Anjoli F.

Yelp
These arepas are super tasty! I'm a veggie so I appreciated the menu notes regarding making items vegetarian/vegan! I had the arepa with beans, cheese, lettuce, avocado and tomato- everything you need! It was very fresh and super affordable. The live music was a treat and felt very "homey" with pockets of friends and family gathering to eat, drink and be merry. Definitely going back! The wait time was a bit long but well worth it and expected.

Deana H.

Yelp
2 hardworking women running the show in their tiny kitchen serving up fresh empanadas and Arepas made to order. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is because I can't get over the fact that I waited 45 min for an Arepa, 2 empanadas and a mango juice. However, I do understand that 2 people can only move so fast!! Hawaiian empanada : dude. I love pineapples on pizza. Never thought to put them in an empanada with bacon and cheese it was delicious. Crunchy crust, sweet pineapple and gooey cheese. Beef empanada: also very tasty! I don't remember the taste as much as the Hawaiian but I can guarantee that it was good (: Arepa Rellenas W/ chicken : so this was good. I thought it could definitely use more cheese and could've crisped a little longer, but non the less. It was delicious, I had to use the sauce they give because it was a bit on the dryer side. It was so filled I had to use a fork to finish eating. definitely going back for empanadas and Arepas !!

Adam F.

Yelp
This is sort of a hard place to rate - I came here specifically for the empanadas, as I had heard they were great, but when I got here, I discovered they also had a really interesting looking "Colombian-style taco" that wasn't on my list, but looked really fun, so we had to try that, too. Got one taco, and a bunch of different empanadas. So, the taco was delicious - expensive for one taco, but it was a pretty large taco, with a fluffy, fresh-made tortilla, a pile of fantastically delicious shredded beef, a ton of cheese, and an entire avocado. On the other hand, funny enough, the empanadas I was actually here for, which were most of our purchase, I was not impressed with at *all*. I'm used to empanada dough being sort of crispy/flaky, not too dense, and mainly there to support the fillings. Here, the fillings were decent enough, but the dough was deep-fried to kingdom come, dense as frack, and just not very enjoyable to eat. Too bad for us, since we bought several of them. I guess it's just a different style of empanada than the style we're used to? Regardless, I wouldn't recommend it, personally. I would totally come back here if I was in Austin again, though - I'd love to try their arepas, and to get more of those excellent tacos. I just wouldn't get their empanadas again.

Margaret D.

Yelp
I am DIGGING this food! Never been to Columbia but they set up outside my complex at Bell South Lamar and they are dope! Thank you! Feeling like I'm getting a great taste of Columbia! Texture, flavor, fresh, simple yet AMAZING! Thank you!

Hannah K.

Yelp
Made to order home style incredible cooking. I could literally drink their salsa It's located in a cute little area amongst other food vendors and there is plenty of seating. (Even a couple hammocks. I ordered the patacones with chicken and was more than satisfied. I'm so happy that this place was my introduction to food in Texas.

K T.

Yelp
Spent over $13 but under $20 here and expected much more. I ordered the Colombian Bowl with chicken. The protein was dry and the rice was cold. It seemed old and it was all clunked together. I was the only patron in the food truck mart and was very disappointed. Also, let the person on-duty know that the rice was cold and he didn't seem to care. He was on his phone the whole time. I was starving and was hoping to chomp down on a nice warm meal, but it didn't turn out that way. I left hungry and had to stop by the convenient store to make up for what was lacking here. Hopefully it was just an off day for them but I won't be returning.

Leslie Z.

Yelp
This is some REALLY authentic Colombian food situated with a few other food trucks in a really cute space that has plenty of outdoor covered seating. We came here on a Thursday night an hour before closing and did not meet much of a crowd. We ordered the guava and the beef empanadas, the plantains, as well as the chicken arepa. Each was a unique and flavorful experience. Unfortunately the guava empanada was 90% cheese, but is one of the most popular items on the menu. The beef empanada combined a season beef with potatoes inside a nicely fried shell. My favorite, by far, was the chicken arepa. We ordered more than enough food for two, so I would recommend getting a variety and doing family style!

Eman E.

Yelp
Patacones will go down in history as my favorite food of all time because of the patacones at artessano. It changed my life. Im not living in Austin so i do think of Patacones often. Any chance artessano can come to DALLAS?? Also the GUAVA AND CHEESE EMPANADA is so amazing. Please try it

Maroof H.

Yelp
Amazing colombian arepas. Austin has a few good arepa food trucks, but this one is our favorite. The filling is not greasy... and the arepas have the perfect crust.

Jeff S.

Yelp
I went here this past weekend for the first time & I must say, my "Columbian Breakfast" was the beez kneez! I was very impressed. My friend got the guava/cheese empanadas & those were great as well. You can tell that everything here is made fresh, & the prices are great too. I haven't been to many Columbian restaurants but I really dig this place & I want to try more items there. Highly recommended if you're looking for something unique on the East Side!

Megha S.

Yelp
Good food. Plantains had a different twist to them compared to the other ones i have had. Although they did lack some seasoning on it. Overall a good place and an excellent location- to sit down and grab some food. Peace yo!!!

Paul K.

Yelp
Very good Colombian street food. Arepas, empanadas, Colombian tacos and more. Everything was very authentic and tasty.

Laura D.

Yelp
As a Colombian who's mom cooks magnificent Colombian dishes all of the time, I'd say this is only alright. My husband and i got the arepa with beef, Colombian bowl, and 2 empanadas. The arepa was okay. The beef lacked flavor and that's the most important part of this dang dish. The best part of the bowl was the chorizo. The rice and beans were the right texture but were flavorless. Lastly, the empanadas were extremely over cooked. A good empanada should be fried and come out golden. This empanada was an amber/Brown color which is totally wrong. The crust was thick which is a big no no and the filling was mainly potatoes and not much meat. Lastly, the "ají" tasted like thick Pace salsa. Question is, will I be returning? No. Absolutely no. You're better off going to Casa Colombia. You're welcome.

Aura M.

Yelp
The food was so good, I didn't even care about taking a photo. I tried the bowls one with beef the other with chorizo. Great portion good flavor. I PREFER this place over Casa Colombia. They also have WAYYYYYYY better customer service than Casa Colombia. I am actually Colombian and this food feels more authentic to me. Their pandebonos are also ON POINT. I tried the lulo juice and the passion fruit both delicious. Definitely try this place.

Michelle M.

Yelp
First I have to say that the women in the trailer were the nicest people ever! Then the homemade arepas were sooooo good. I also had a watermelon aguas frescas. It was fresh and perfect. I haven't tried the empanadas yet, but I will. While I was looking over the menu, I asked about the patacones (fried plantain pieces) so they gave me a couple to try. Delicious. I highly recommend trying this place. It's a gem.

Ann H.

Yelp
Pretty darn good - I have never had Colombian food before so I was a little wary that it might be too spicy for my wussy ass, but it was perfect and they offer hot sauce for those of you that like the spice.

Jorge V.

Yelp
As a Colombian, it's always a pleasure exploring the Colombian food scene in Austin, and I'm very happy to have discovered this charming little food truck. I ordered a rice bowl with shredded chicken (arroz con pollo), Colombian pinto beans, and a couple patacones on the side. It was delicious. All I wanted was to scratch that itch for classic Colombian food, and I couldn't be happier to have discovered another place that does that incredibly well. When my girlfriend and I came here, it was relatively early in the afternoon and ridiculously hot, which may help explain why the food truck venue was pretty empty. In case you come here during a slow time, as well, you may find the chef patiently waiting on a hammock with a book, like we did. She's very sweet, and put in an effort to give great, personable service, in addition to making us amazing food. Austin is lucky to have her!

Bruno B.

Yelp
Omg, what a great little oasis here with amazing food coffee and smoothies. We had the Arepas con hamon & avocado - delicious!!

David V.

Yelp
Empanadas - Had 2 of the beef/potato. These were astounding. Addicting. Amazing. A+++. The crust is slightly flaky/crunchy on the outside, chewy and softer on the inside and the beef and papas were seasoned perfectly. I will return for these, 5 stars. The bowl was good, but not glowing review worthy. Shredded beef was pretty good, rice and beans were ok, patacones were ok too. Never had patacones before, feel like I might've been eating them wrong, like you should've eaten them with something else and not solo, need more Colombian friends. Lmk, need recs. Will be back, down for 2 for 5 empanadas.

Lori H.

Yelp
This little gem of a food truck has amazing Colombian food. We got the Colombian bowl that had shredded chicken, beans, rice with corn and carrots, avocados and plantains. The ambiance is great with plenty of seating.

Megan P.

Yelp
This food truck is tucked away in east Austin. It was a cute area surrounded by other food trucks, music, nice seating, and board games. It was raining while I was there, but luckily there was covered seating. The food was good and the guy working there was sweet. My friend and I ordered the chicken arepa, the Hawaiian empanada, and the spinach and cheese empanada. The chicken arepa was great! It was generously stuffed with beans, cheese, avocado, and your protein of choice. The guy working recommended chicken or beef. I went with chicken and enjoyed it. The Hawaiian empanada was also good. It was filled with bacon, pineapple, and cheese. For some reason the spinach and cheese empanada was extremely greasy, so I do not recommend that. Overall, it was a good experience. If it's raining and you still want to make it out there, I suggest wearing mosquito repellent because those mosquitos are feisty.

Laura M.

Yelp
This is my favorite food truck. All of the food here is healthy and whole. I cannot recommend a favorite dish because everything is very tasty, it just depends on how you feel like eating. The full patacones are finger food/appetizer style, but definitely a full meal, arepas more like a sandwich, the bowl is great if you want a knife-and-fork meal (rice). There's covered seating, music, hammocks. It's a little tucked away and shaded so you don't feel like you're roadside or exposed. The people who run this little establishment are wonderfully kind too.

deep r.

Yelp
They came to our company site through fooda as a rotating food counter and served stale chicken, horrible tasting food. They need to be booted out of our cafe, I will not even feed my dog this food..please dont come back..they also over charged me, then refunded when I caught it, their sauces are a joke

Michael V.

Yelp
Had to check out this spot as my girl is Colombian! Great arepa's and fresh juice Not as authentic as casa Colombia down the road but a great little food trailer in east Austin!

Cesar L.

Yelp
No other Colombian restaurant in Austin even comes close. Hands down the best Colombian food in town. Hands down. We'll be back soon.

Kay C.

Yelp
It was really good for the first time I had the beef empanadas and guava and cheese for 6.00 just wanted creamy sauce on top other wise that it was good keep in my it take 8 minutes but it's worth It

Katija G.

Yelp
made to order empanadas - glutenfree juices are top notch vegetarian friendly careful to let empanadas cool off, hot (temp), before chowing down lovely people run this place

Alejandro D.

Yelp
New location on East 6th, right by my place. My girlfriend is Colombian, so I've been exposed to a lot of their food, here and in Colombia. The quality seemed really good to me! The juices were delicious. Prices were reasonable and their new digs are pretty sweet.

Tamara L.

Yelp
Discovered this place while visiting. Amazing arepas, hammocks to chill in after your meal, 5 thumps up!

Cristine D.

Yelp
Everything was amazing! The food was authentic and delicious and the owners are very nice. We had a spinach and cheese and a guava empanada. Both were great, but the best part was their salsa. It leaves a perfect spicy tingle on you lips with a burst of flavor. The arepas were awesome too. He only thing I would add is a crema to dip the tostones into. Oh, and definitely get a fruit drink too!

Kruti M.

Yelp
This was one of the more unique and affordable meals I've had in my 3 years in Austin. It's easy to tell that the menu is authentic and I didn't feel like I could go wrong with any of the dishes. While the menu isn't huge, I still felt like there were plenty of vegetarian options for me to choose from, which is a huge plus! I ended up with the mango juice, patacones, and guava cheese empanada. There weren't many people around but I 20 minutes for my food to come, but it was obvious on arrival that all the food was extremely fresh and prepared to order, so I didn't mind the wait. I would come back just for the mango juice and empanadas. Maybe even just the juice, which was no-nonsense, authentic fruit juice. Basically, it was mango heaven because a few bucks got me ~16-20 oz glass. The empanadas were equally as perfect, with a great flaky outside, chewy texture, and a gooey slightly sweet inside that didn't turn rubbery when cooled off. I wish I had just ordered 5 of these for my meal instead. I have no idea what the accompanying dipping sauce was, but it was also delicious. I usually love plantains but was a bit disappointed in the patacones (fried plantains topped with veggies and cheese). I just didn't think that the plantains had retained any flavor or had much seasoning. After a few bites I forgot that I was supposed to be eating plantains. I might try this again to see if it was a one-time thing, but overall I just didn't love this dish. The seating area was actually one of my favorite parts of this place. While there are a few conventional long wooden tables like those you see at other food parks, there is also a hammock and an area with outdoor couches/chairs situated around a large coffee table. I saw a family enjoy their meal together here for over an hour and it was a special way to make an outdoor area feel more like home. The whole area is covered too! The service here is so wonderful and I loved the atmosphere. There are other food trucks in the lot if you're interested in sampling a few items from everywhere. I will definitely be back!

Isabel S.

Yelp
The food is absolutely delicious. The arepa is perfectly cooked - a corn and cheese cake that melts in your mouth. The empanadas are crunchy on the outside and full of goodness on the inside - I had the beef empanadas with creamy potato and beef filling. The patacones sencillos (simple) are savory pan fried plantains that come with salsa and avocado - the combination of the plantain, salsa and avocado with each bite was flavorful (yum!). I also had a guanabana (soursop) juice with a water base and no sugar added, as I prefer less sweet, and it was spot-on. If you have a sweet tooth and like a creamier juice, you may want a milk base with added sugar.

Kayla G.

Yelp
One of the best arepas that I have had outside of Colombia itself. The food and juice was on point.

Haley U.

Yelp
Food truck perfection! Super fresh food, fluffy tortillas, great vegetarian options. Got the Colombian style tacos with veggies and was more than satisfied. The prices are reasonable as well .Several of the people in my party tried the fresh fruit juices and loved them! Out of the 7 people in my group, everyone is planning on returning already.

Eve R.

Yelp
I. Love. This. Place. I love Colombian food, and this is the best I've had in Austin so far. The arepas are crispy and delightful, and the fillings are delicious. The empanadas are almost like filled arepas, crispy and fluffy and full of deliciousness like guava and cheese (OMG yes!) and the Hawaiiana, which has pineapple, bacon and cheese (SO MUCH YES!!!). The proprietors are delightful, and obviously make everything fresh. I didn't try it, but they even have an arepa cheeseburger. In case you're new to arepas, they're corn cakes. Delicous, crispy, fluffy corncakes. Upon which you layer even more delightfulness like cheese. And then other stuff. And maybe more cheese. Mmmmm. Diet food? Not really. Delicious. Oh, yes. This whole trailer park is full of delicious food, and it's hard to eat at just one trailer at a time. But while I recommend trying them all, don't miss this little gem!

Trevor B.

Yelp
I was wandering the neighborhood looking for a quick lunch because I'm staying at The Doubletree. Franklins was sold out and I saw there were some West African restaurants around and I stumbled into a little courtyard of food stands. The first was Vegan African food. Unsure, I read another sign about the Colombian Food stand. Colombian tacos sounded interesting so I went for it. One adorable lady was working by herself and kindly took my order. 2 tacos and a lemonade for $7. I sat at a picnic table in the shade and about 5 minutes later she came out with my food. She asked if I wanted ice for my lemonade - tasted it. Oh so fresh and tasty. "No," I replied and she went back to the stand with a warm smile. I opened the foil wrapped taco and was greeted by the fresh ingredients. Marinated chicken, eggs, beans and some tomato based salsa. So good! And the two tacos filled me up. Did I mention the lemonade might have been the best I ever had? I know Austin has so many great places to eat, but wow did I discover a tiny gem. You can see and taste the love she puts into every dish.

Nicole C.

Yelp
Food was alright. Argentinian arepas are better and their plantains tasted frozen like they bought them from Goya at the grocery store.

Alan H.

Yelp
Very good and very authentic Columbian food. I highly recommend eating here. Excellent Arepas.

Anastasia P.

Yelp
This was some of the best food I've had in Austin. Even though it's WAY out of my way I'm already planning my next meal there and I just finished eating.

Jocelyn T.

Yelp
This place is legit! Fresh, tasty, delicious food! We had the empanadas- the Hawaiian! Omg! Crispy, tasty, cheesey- and with fresh pineapple! The chicken Ensenada was moist and the dough was terrific! Service was great. The owner was so nice, she explained the menu. Love this place!
