Arthur & Sons is a lively West Village Italian joint serving hearty comfort food in a nostalgic, vibrant atmosphere, perfect for sharing with friends.
"The sister bar to dell’anima, Anfora is another very good and very useful wine bar, with solid cocktails and small plates, and a great happy hour. At this point, you’re probably catching on to the fact that the West Village is full of spots that are perfect for dates. This is one of them." - katherine lewin, hillary reinsberg
"Arthur & Sons, the Italian American spot in the West Village, is a place where you can listen to Sinatra while sitting in a scalloped red leather booth that’s conveniently unburdened by decades of cigarette smoke. Their second city location (there’s one in the Hamptons) has arrived in Murray Hill, complete with chicken parm and red sauce. " - will hartman
"Anfora is a great West Village wine bar that serves a few light snacks, like charcuterie and ricotta crostini, that come out about as quickly as the wine. So use this place for a casual first date when you mostly want wine but also need to get some food in your stomach." - team infatuation
"Anfora is where you’d meet a date if your life were an early 2000’s romcom starring, maybe, John Cusack. You would meet in the dimly-lit room, claim a leather booth, and drink some wine while discussing your favorite childhood authors (who happen to be the same). Although if you don’t model your life after romcoms, you could just meet a friend here. This is a wine bar from the Dell’anima people, and it’s a good spot to grab a drink and a snack when you need something nicer than a dive bar. And if you don’t like wine, they also have beer and cocktails." - bryan kim
"Arthur & Sons leans heavily into the old-school Italian American aesthetic, and it's a fun time all around. Yes, a plate of rigatoni with vodka sauce will cost you $30, but this is the West Village. The overheads are not insubstantial. Also, the portions are large, and you can listen to Frank Sinatra and sit in a booth as you enjoy some creamy, mushroom-packed veal valdastano. Not every dish is a winner, but if you stick to the red-sauce basics, and toss in some cocktails, you'll have a fun group dinner." - Bryan Kim
