Such a pleasure to find a hidden gem in Charlotte in Charlotte these days, when the city seems to be overran with breweries and pizza joints now. Arthur’s inside of Belks in South Park mall is a great spot to refuel after doing some shopping. Awesome menu boasting burgers, subs and hot dogs and even salads so there’s something for everyone. I got the chicken salad grinder sub and it was absolutely delish. Cooked to order with a hot a crispy side of fries. They also have a wine shop that offers free wine tastings on Saturdays which is a must do. Can try yummy wines while learning abt their origin. Also a new edition I just found out abt is they have a wine bar on the second floor right besides cosmetics. Great little spot to relax and unwind, do some prime people watching all while enjoying a glass of wine. Perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon at all 3 spots.

Loved finding this cute swanky bar right near the cosmetics, perfume department! Nice Friday afternoon treat after a hard work week! There were a few ladies enjoying their time at the bar as well, and I was there waiting for a few family members to arrive and look at all the sales Belk was offering. The bartender was super sweet and efficient. There is plenty of bar seating with a few tables and chairs around the area. I've never seen this before (bar in a department store), but I loved it! Grab a sip, shop, and have fun! Loved it! Especially if you don't want to go into an actual bar, this is definitely a different experience. They offer different types of wines, red and white, alcohol and I believe I also saw a few bite options, but I didn't eat, so I didn't really look into the food situation. If I'm ever at Belks, I'll definitely stop by here again.

Anytime I’m at Southpark Mall, I have to stop at Arthur’s….either for an iced latte, glass of wine while shopping, lunch, or to pick up a nice bottle of wine. Their customer service is great and I always feel welcome.

Google
A Charlotte staple, John Balsley and his brothers are still serving good deli / grill style food and a wide selection of wine tucked unassumingly in the back of the Belk lower level (the same location since 1991). The nondescript storefront hidden inside of Belk behind air fryers and flatware is a great place to stop while shopping in South Park Mall and have a bite or a few sips. Or both.

Nice place to stop in while taking a break from shopping. Great conversation from the bartender Jasmine (probably did not spell her name right).

Steak sandwich was good but a little greasy....

Google
Arthur's is a little diner located in the basement of Belk, offering great value and decent food. I highly recommend the Triple Decker Club. Enjoy your meal! Five Stars!

Google
Arthur’s is a Charlotte institution. The food is amazing, you can enjoy a glass of wine, and the whole staff is friendly and helpful. The dining area is clean & welcoming. Be sure to try their Chicken Salad Grinder!

Yelp
Did you know there was a mini bar styled restaurant located in Belks? I stumbled across this cute spot while browsing in the cosmetics section. A great spot to wait for that one person in your group that has to go in every store in the mall! I saw alot of hubbys and boyfriends having a beer while waiting for their boos. I came on a Sunday, they had the Panthers/Cowboys game playing on the flatscreen. There's no hard liquor. Wine and beer along with light snacks for nibbling.

Yelp
Arthur's in Belk is a Charlotte classic for me! Love stopping here for lunch whenever I need to go to Southpark. Never crowded compared to the food court, good prices, and delicious food! My go to is always the Turkey Grinder.

Yelp
Super cool spot to chill and rest during our shopping experience! Loved that we could have wine or beer or even lunch here on the second floor of Belk! Made our trip to the mall super nice. Our bartender was super nice and brought our glasses to us. No rush. Can't wait for a return trip! Can all the shops have a wine bar?

Yelp
This is what u get ordering a toasted BLT with extra bacon. I've been coming here since this place was on the other corner of belks.... paid $30 for 2 of these, uncooked FF. This is HORRIBLE.
google avatar

Kelly Y.

Yelp
The team members may have changed since my days of working at the mall 2009-10, but the level of service remains the same...SUPERB! Love this place and cannot recommend it enough. Thanks, Arthur's!

Yelp
Good was very good and reasonably priced. Highly recommend. I'll go again in the future

Yelp
The restaurant is unique, being underneath a belk. I actually like the restaurant, and i've been many times. However, this time it was subpar. I ordered fries to go and they were mid- way undersalted. But the main reason this is a 2 star review is their shady business practice of having a falsely low price on the menu. Their menu advertised 2.99 for fries. Not cheap, but whatever. But when i got to the register, it was 3.69 for fries. Also, 3$ for a fountain drink! it's outrageous. Advertising a cheaper price is manipulative
google avatar

Yelp
Old school diner feel, food was quick to come out and service was friendly. Kind of pricey but I guess what isn't these days would come back again for lunch.

Yelp
This is a review for the newly opened wine bar! They JUST opened up a wine bar one floor above the original Arthur's (still inside the Belk), and I had a lovely time. Exceptional and kind service, chill but slightly upscale ambiance (fitting with South Park mall), and yummy mimosas. My bartender Leila was so very kind and quickly got me my mimosas, and my sister a sauvignon blanc when asked. They pre-measure the amount of wine they give you, which is fair since it makes it consistent, but she was more than happy to go light on the orange juice with just a splash to make it to my liking. We also got to talking about books, which was really nice - she gave me some recommendations and I gave her some in turn. Will return just for the kind service with book talk while having a yummy mimosa. I will say that I recommended that they replace their current Prosecco selection of La Marca to a better brand. I'm a fairly consistent sparkling wine drinker, and La Marca is bottom shelf - which is why I would rather have the mimosa here than a glass of Prosecco. I do hope they switch out the Prosecco soon. You don't have to get super pricey or anything, just taste wise, La Marca isn't great. The corner space they have the wine bar is small, but big enough to hold a good bit of people. I love this addition as I can just sit and drink some wine while my friends shop lol. It's cute, and still upscale looking, with comfy seats and couches around. Will def be back!

Yelp
Great service great food. Employee 'Clara' was super kind and helpful. I enjoy the kids cheeseburger for a fun snack at the mall

Yelp
Foods good but the guy that was giving me order was a jack(a). How i am slow if i just forgot what i was going order because i just on my lunch break and i have been working the whole morring when they just stared.if you ar a white male in your 30s and you didn't go to school, get the job that you thought that you will have by now that it not my fault go take yiu anger out on a puching bag don't take out on a person who you don't even no.

Yelp
Let me start by saying it is a diner, it has Diner food but, it has the coolest most relaxed feel to it, if your in the Belk come eat Lunch, Order a glass of wine and take it with you when you shop. The youngsters they have working there let me live vicariously my younger days, when it was my first, 2nd or 3rd job and you enjoyed going to work to be with your friends. Anyway, to make a long story short, the wife and I really enjoy this place and yes even go up just to eat, even when we are not shopping..lol

Bryson S.

Yelp
I just found this place again. I went here when I was much younger and have been craving another burger from here for about 7 years. Well worth going here. It caught me off guard the first time I discovered this place, had no clue what it was, sure glad I tried.

Oswald S.

Yelp
First big disappointment. I've been eating here for 30 years or more and have always enjoyed it. Today it was disappointing. I went a bit before noon and ordered my old standby, an 8" turkey grinder. I added fries and water and my total was just under $15. That seemed a little high but that wasn't the really disappointing part. I paid, got my condiments and napkins and sat down to wait. And wait. It wasn't that busy so I was a little surprised. When my turkey grinder came out I thought it looked a little odd. There was no cheese. More than that, it is supposed to be hot or at least warm. It wasn't. It wasn't fridge cold but it wasn't warm either. And, while I think the bun might have been 8", the turkey was not. The turkey was centered in the bun leaving an inch of bread at each end. It looked like they put the turkey for a 6" sandwich into my bread. Turning my attention to the fries I noticed right off that the normally crispy golden brown french fries were pale and limp looking. In fact, they were underdone. Anyone used to their fries would have notices right away. The other big factor was the fries that were missing. It looked like they were behind on making fries and had rushed a batch and gave me the tail end. Probably about half of what I expected. I sat there marveling at the disappointing $15 sandwich and side in front of me when I began seeing other orders arrive around me. Sandwiches piled with meat and layers or hot melted cheese. Sitting beside these amazing looking sandwiches were full to overflowing orders of crispy, golden french fries. As the folks around me dove into what looked like I remembered as typical of Arthurs I ate my cold skimpy sandwich and limp fries.

Yelp
Fast and friendly service. The food is very good and fresh. I love that it is handmade and delicious. Arthur's is an excellent alternative to the food court. It's tucked away in Belk and like a hidden gem!
google avatar

Russ B.

Yelp
What a great place with an old-school department store vibe. The food is consistent and always quick. The staff is always young and energetic.
google avatar

Taryn R.

Yelp
Skip the food court and head to Belk's basement for fresh, cooked to order food! Sandwiches, salads, and soups galore... On our most recent visit, I had the grilled chicken panini with a cup of chili. The sandwich was piping hot and full of great ingredients like an entire grilled chicken breast, avacado, tomato and a tasty chipotle queso sauce. The chili was perfect on a cold, winter day and proved great for dipping my sandwich (and Ted's fries) into. Speaking of Ted, he had the loaded chicken cheese steak. The sandwich was absolutely overflowing with chicken and grilled veggies! I had total order envy. Good thing he shares! So, long story short... You can't do better for a mall meal than Arthur's! Oh! And, if you're not looking for food but wouldn't mind a drink, you can grab a glass of wine from Arthur's and take it with you while you shop Belk. Sip and shop!

Yelp
This is a review for the wine shop. Who would expect to find one of the best wine shops in Charlotte at Belk? But actually it is a serious wine shop that happens to be located on the bottom floor of Belk at South Park Mall. I highly recommend stopping by if you are at the Mall or going if you are searching for wine. Their prices are pretty decent. Their selection is great. They have a wide range and you can definitely find something that you'll like there. I normally find myself there on Saturday afternoons and every time I've stopped in they are having a free wine tasting. You can also buy a glass of wine and go shopping in Belk which is a nice experience.
google avatar

Lindsey P.

Yelp
This is a review for the wine shop. Truly one of the best wine stores in Charlotte in my opinion. After visiting several other wine shops, I stumbled upon Arthur's while shopping in Belk one day. And wow was I surprised. They have an excellent selection! Low end to high end wines, they've got it. They also have tastings quite often. If I'm in the mall on a Saturday afternoon I will always stop by Arthur's for a tasting. They usually have four bottles to taste from; two whites/rose and two reds. And they are usually in a reasonable price range. You can also stop in for a glass to sip on while you shop in Belk, which I think is fun! I feel like some things are priced a bit on the higher end, but they have sales very often for popular wines and if you time it right you can get some good bottles for a great prices.

Yelp
Grew up going here for lunch and I can honestly say it's still got the same tasty charm it did 20 years ago Must try the Hot Oven Grinders- you won't regret it!

Yelp
I had been meaning to stop at the spot for a while because every time I type in burgers it seem to come up as one of the top rated places in south park. So, during a lunch break last week I ran over to the mall and tried it out. First of all, you need to go to the basement to find the spot. I couldn't find a directory in Belk so I ended up going all the way to the top floor before I finally figured out that I needed to go all the way downstairs. Once I got there, everything was great. Service was prompt and the young people behind the counter were not only helpful but knowledgeable about what was good on the menu. They recommended the Philly cheesesteak but because I had eaten one just the day before I decided to go with the cheeseburger club. Never had one before but was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. That came with a generous portion of fries which were also fresh and tasty. This is evidently a go to spot for mall employees so it was pretty affordable overall. Definitely a spot I would recommend if you're in the mall and looking for something a little more affordable and less visible.

Yelp
So this is your basic bottom-floor restaurant. A little dark and plain. What the ambiance lacks, the staff and the food make up for. Everyone is very pleasant and helpful. I got the Katz Klub and it's a wrap. The meat and toppings were plenty with just enough mayo and the freshness of everything was easily seen and tasted. #craveworthy I'll definitely go there again!

Jesse C.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant on 4/23 with a friend for the first time. I ordered the Southwestern Salad. When the server brought our food to the table, I noticed it didn't have any chicken. I mentioned this to our server and she said she would check with the kitchen. She came back and said, "the kitchen said that's how it's supposed to be, sorry". When we were leaving, I confirmed on the paper menus that my salad was indeed supposed to have chicken. I'm not sure if this mistake was completely disregarded because it was really busy, but I certainly do not appreciate paying $10 for a salad that was missing the main ingredient. I emailed management about my experience. I had to follow up several times and finally got a response saying they would reimburse me. I never received any reimbursement or additional responses when I inquired about the check. This mistake could've easily been mended, however their management team didn't choose to make this right for their customer. I won't be returning.

Yelp
Very good burgers and fries. Got delivered for lunch. Looking for a good burger with all the fixings, check them out.

Tanya S.

Yelp
What a horrible place this is. I had never been there before because it is in the cellar of the SouthPark Mall. Trust me, don't go. I was given a horrible bag to take out two wine bags that were really hard to handle. I went upstairs to ask for a better bag in Belk and everybody treated me like I had come in from somewhere else. Finally, the Estée Lauder group helped me out. I finally went downstairs to tell the wine people about this experience and they did not help me out. Not to mention, the wine was terrible!!!!!!! I finally got home and wished I had never gone there. The wine was given to me by the OWNER!!! What owner of a wine store would suggest a horrible wine is beyond belief. I am still wondering why the store exists.

Douglas M.

Yelp
I was shocked to think Belk's had a cafe! Was not disappointed. Five stars for good food and fast service at a reasonable price!
google avatar

Kate T.

Yelp
Ok, Arthur's SO deserves and update and better rating. Since 2013 I have been several times and although I still think the prices are high for lunch, I do love everything I have had. I typically still with the Turkey Grinders, add lettuce. Most recently I had a cheeseburger and fries. One thing to point out, if you say yes to onions they are grilled, not what I expected. Still good but I prefer raw onions on my burgers. As for the fries, I have had them several times and they never disappoint. Cooked fresh to order and perfectly salted.
google avatar

Yelp
Born and raised in Charlotte I have gone to this place for as long as I can remember. Located on the bottle floor of Belks it gets pretty busy during lunch time but I know why. The food is awesome!! One of my favorite lunch spots, all sorts of delicious options some of my favorites are the chicken cheesesteak (if you like spicy definitely add hot peppers), one of the best grilled cheeses I have had, burgers, and the club. They also believe they make their own sauces huge fan of both the Honey Mustard as well as the Ranch. This time I went with the ham grinder served "hot" on a sub roll with tomato, oil, oregano, & provolone cheese with French fries and an Arnold Palmer. A lot of people like the turkey grinder over the ham but not this guy. A definite go to lunch spot when in the South Park area.

Yelp
I read on their Facebook page that they just celebrated their 37th birthday, cool... happy birthday Arthur's! Arthur's is a great little wine shop tucked away on the bottom floor of Belk, being southern, I was flabbergasted that you could buy wine at Belk! There may be a few folks that would rather be kicked in the head than go to the mall, but you can drive behind Belk and park in the garage, right in front of the door and Arthur's has a few 15 minute parking spots. So you can just run in and grab something. Plenty of knowledgable staff if you get stumped on your decision making! They also offer classes, it's well worth getting on their email list, it's something fun to do. Last night they just had their yearly Champagne tasting. Much fun. I do find that they have paid tastings and free tastings. I prefer to go to the paid tastings, they are more generous with the wine when it is paid. More people know Arthur's has a cafe, there is a reason. Great soups and sandwiches. A lot more healthier choices than eating in the food court.
google avatar

Leigh G.

Yelp
Such a relaxing place to take a break from shopping, sit in a big comfy booth, and gab with your shopping companion while enjoying wonderful food and maybe a glass of wine. Still miss Barclay's, but so glad we have Arthur's!!
google avatar

Jenita M.

Yelp
I had the chance to try Arthur's from catering. The Asian Chicken wrap as good. Loved the sauce and peanut flavor. The chicken sandwich was okay but too much mayo.
google avatar

Scott C.

Yelp
I love this place. Arthur's is a short-order kitchen located in the basement at Belk's in Southpark. Lots of menu choices and very kind and courteous service. And everything I've tried was tasty and not too pricey. Very unpretentious and easy-going atmosphere.
google avatar

Julia M.

Yelp
This place is a Charlotte institution... it has been around for a long, long time. Back in the day, Belk Southpark had 2 dining options. Arthurs was located downstairs for the younger, hipper crowds and the Barclay Cafeteria upstairs was a favorite of the "blue hairs" (like my Grandmother). I always loved the atmosphere and food choices at Arthurs. I definitely recommend giving them a try instead of heading down to all the chains in the food court. And if you are not looking to eat, but shopping for wine instead, definitely stop in because these guys know their stuff and have a nice selection.
google avatar

Faith D.

Yelp
It has taken me 8 years to discover this place. If you are looking for a casual, old-timey hot deli this is your lunch spot. It's in the basement of Belk tucked behind the house appliance section. It is an open cafe where you order while waiting in line, pay at the end of the counter, then grab a seat and your food will be delivered to your table. It's a great place for a quick lunch. They have hamburgers, Reuben sandwiches, salads, and other cold cut sandwiches. I would say this would be ideal to hide away after a long day of shopping instead of the loud and often crowded food court. Customers range from newborn to grandparent. They even have a candy section that will bring back memories of when you were a child. Bring the entire family and enjoy a midday meal!
google avatar

Vince M.

Yelp
Somewhat hidden away in the basement of Belk at SouthPark Mall, this local favorite is definitely worth the hunt. It serves up excellent sandwiches, salads and simple lunch fare and has for years. We went with the standard cheeseburger and the turkey and provolone grinder with fries. All were hot and tasty. The dining area is spacious and clean and reminiscent of simpler times. Service is friendly and fast. A refreshing departure from the opulence and commercialism of the surrounding Southpark area.
google avatar

Hannah H.

Yelp
Can't believe I didn't know about this gem for the longest time. For your basic deli food, this is all you need! I got the Grilled Chicken Panini with fries and it was the bomb diggity. I loved the avocado in it. And the chipotle sauce was delish. I loved the fries. Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside. Definitely add some seasoning salt to bring it up a notch. They also have vinegar which is a nice touch. Great selection of condiments. Only criticism is that the service wasn't the best. It was merely good. The staff seemed really indifferent and not at all friendly. However, it is a deli so service isn't super important. Anyways, I can't wait to come back and try more of the food!
google avatar

Kris B.

Yelp
Ok so I love their wine store so I thought I would try the restaurant. Ordered a grilled cheese for my granddaughter and a Ruben for myself. First the grilled cheese was so greasy, that I didn't let her eat it. The bread on the Ruben was soggy from the sauerkraut and only half of the sandwich had meat on it!!! So I guess I'll just stick to the wine store.

Sumathy A.

Yelp
Great mushroom burger and fries! They taste fresh and the fries are crispy! Definitely worthy trying if you are out shopping and want a quick bite to eat.
google avatar

Kati R.

Yelp
I stopped in for a quick lunch bite and was not particularly impressed. I had a turkey on rye that was decent enough. My boyfriend got a veggie pita that was served open face so it was basically a warm, wilted salad on top of a piece of pita. We also ordered a glass of wine each and must've gotten the final swigs of the bottle because it was kind of gross. I know gross is not the fanciest of words used to describe wine but it's accurate in this case. On top of that, it took a long time for our food to come out. All in all, a bad experience. I will say it was a nice change of pace from the crowded mall food court. So I guess there's that...?

Christian G.

Yelp
Regarding one of the comments before about an issue with an employee "Mitzi," I've been helped by her many times and she always provides nothing less than terrific. She is a very good employee and always friendly when I come in to eat at Arthur's. Mitzi is one of the main reasons I continue to enjoy this restaurant.
google avatar

Georges B.

Yelp
Psst! Hey got a secret to tell ya'll about... At South Park mall, they have fancy food court with a dozen of choices. If that isn't bag you have the California Pizza, Cheesecake Factory or Maggianos. The kids today growing up in America have it made when it comes to the mall dining experiencea. However, they are missing out on the old school department store diners. I am going to drop a little secret on you Charlotte and it is called Arthur's! This gem is hidden in the basement of the Belk Department store. Really, I am not pulling your leg. If you take the down escalator into the ground floor past the small appliances, wedding registry and fine china you will found yourself starring at Arthur's cafe menu. First thing, the serve Cherry Coke and steak fries so they got my taste bud's attention. Arthur's is know for their great cheeseburgers (voted as best in Charlotte) and and check this out CHEESE STEAKS! I knew that would get your attention. For the ligher side, they have pretty tasty salads too! Plus their ketchup and mustard is in the red and yellow plastic bottles, Old School style! None of those fancy little packets will be found here! If you need to recharge with a quick meal at South Park drop in on Arthur's. But lets keep this secret between us, ok! ;)
google avatar

Joe T.

Yelp
It took me about a year of living in Charlotte before friends clued me in to this best kept secret. THE BEST BURGER anyone has served me in Charlotte -- right here, unbelievably, among the wine store casks and the Lenox china displays. It's a lot more low key than the crazy food court upstairs. Killer BLTs that you can address at eye level. Great grilled chicken and salads for light days, plus a selection of hard to find treats like Goldenberg's Peanut Chews.
google avatar

Meredith V.

Yelp
I grew up in Charlotte and on Arthur's. When I was a child, it was Arthur's or the Cafeteria's in Southpark that were your food options while shopping. They were also social beehives, where you ran into anyone and everyone on a Saturday or Sunday. The go-to staples are the burgers, chicken salad grinders (made with turkey breast, btw), and the salads with the buttery homemade croutons and homemade dressings. The sweet tea is divine, as well. I was pleased to see on a recent visit, that not much has changed. The food is still excellent, many of the same workers are behind the line, and you run into folks you know. A nice addition - they now sell the "perfect" croutons by the bag for $1.99!
google avatar

Paul C.

Yelp
My first but certainly not last time here! Don't know why I waited so long! Damn. But NOW I know what all the fuss is about. It IS a very small shop.....but SIZE is NOT everything! Uh hem. This shop has an extremely good selection, with many "boutique" makers available. Craig, their Somm, was very helpful and of course knowledgeable, and they have tastings on the weekend. Me and my buddy Paul (the other bald Paul) tasted about 8 wines. I met a super nice couple and they shared a bottle of Belle Glos with us! All while we watched the Belmont race - No Cali Chrome didn't make it....:-( So I walked out with ONLY 3 bottles! For those of you who know me, I rarely walk out of a good wine store like this with less than a case. But I've been buying a lot of wine lately and decided to temper my purchase. I did get a 40 year anniversary of Caymus Cab. For some strange reason, this bottle is $12 LESS than their regular bottling......strange, but I'll take it! If you're looking for that hard to find bottle, or just want a fantastic selection, come check out Arthur's!
google avatar

Jesse J.

Yelp
"You wanna meet for lunch in the foodcourt" we asked our daughter who works at Southpark. She instead suggested this place in the basement at Belk, Arthur's, which I had never heard of. She is moving out of town so we will rarely be in Southpark again, but what a find Arthur's is! How did we ever let the fast food industry take over our eating habits? This is like the counters in the downtown drug stores we grew up with -- great burgers, sandwiches, and fries, in a very comfortable setting.

Yelp
I enjoyed my lunch here at Arthur's at Belk in the South Park Mall. I agree with the previous reviewer who referred to this place as a "best kept secret" - it really is, especially of the places to eat in the mall. You may not notice it if you don't know it is there, unless you happen to be shopping for china pieces in Belk. But once you find it, you'd be pleased with the menu - it's casual, and has just about anything you'd want for grabbing a quick lunch. The staff here is very friendly, and the format is pretty self explanatory - order here, pay here, then find a seat and your food will be brought to you. I had the asian sesame chicken wrap, and I was very happy with it. It came out nice and hot, and had great flavor. I think I paid about $6, and it was ready very quickly. This is definitely the place to go if you'd like a quiet lunch in the mall, and it without a doubt beats the chaos of the food court.
