Montreal's Best Holiday Markets

"As the city’s most eco-conscious Christmas market, this one-weekend event (Dec. 5–7) hosts over 40 vendors from across the province under a single condition: every gift must be made with at least 75% recycled materials, a mindful, conscious antidote to peak-season consumerism." - Ksenia Prints

Place Ville Marie Is Getting a Swanky New Food Hall in 2019 | Eater Montreal

"Located at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel, the Marché Artisans is presented as Montreal’s only comparable upmarket, centrally operated food-hall-style market to date, though it is run centrally by the hotel rather than featuring the varied independent vendors planned for Le Cathcart." - Tim Forster

Loved the small Christmas logs, delicious and fresh. You can find here sandwiches, donuts, coffee and more. Great service 😀

Cool place with awesome artisanal food products - jellies, condiments, chocolate, honey, cocktail bombs etc + ready to eat dishes for lunch. Had a cool mushroom onigiri and a fennel salad.

What happened to the brownie? It used to be one of my fav in town (as of last year) but today the brownie tastes no where close to a brownie but more like a muffin?? plus it costs 4.5$ each for a really small/sad piece. Really hoping they bring back the old recipe because it used to be amazing!

Google
Great ambiance and selection of local, quebec gifts or souvenirs to take back home. Local drinks, syrup, candies, and more. They have lots of seating , even a Barbie themed areas at the moment for those fans. I tried the 10 cheese pizza and it was SO GOOD. The only thing in this world that I've had blue cheese with and actually enjoyed it. So the food is good too. The coffee is the same as Karma ... check my review to see, but would only recommend if absolutely need a cup and not for the coffee snob like myself.

Google
Incredible venue with so many options for all us foodies. Crepes were so-so. Otherwise everything was outstanding!! 🫶🏽

Google
Fabulous cafe and gift shop and food market in the main lobby at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel. Everything is super fresh and delicious. The bakery is second to none. During April 2024 there was a really cute Barbie themed cafe setup.

Google
So this place is really beautiful with lots of cool dining and gift options. But it is really expensive (e.g., ten bucks for a Stella Artois beer and six bucks for a special soda drink). But the staff were helpful and the selection of items was pretty good from fresh flowers and pastas to chocolates and jams. There is even fresh organic produce and a seafood bar if that's you're thing. And there is a selection of aged meats on display for purchase. I didn't eat at Artisan's but the food options looked good.

Beautiful pastries in this foodcourt style place in the lobby of the Queen E. Customized items to the hotel with all kinds of artisenal products, very fancy! I love the alpaca stuffies, I get one for my daughter whenever I come across them.

Yelp
The Short Version: Fancy market inside the Queen Elizabeth Hotel with fancy prices to match, lol. The Slightly Longer Version: I can't believe this opened up in 2017 and only in 2025 did I discover it. It's in the lobby of the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel. It's an upscale market with artisan items. They sell oils, vinegars, sauces and spreads. It's also part restaurant with different stations reminiscent of the Mövenpick that was in downtown Toronto (but has since closed down). They have a pizza station, a crepe station, a bakery and more. Prices are what you would expect at The Queen Elizabeth Hotel. Review #155 (2025)

Yelp
Fabulous selection, charming venue, and helpful servers. So many options! This is an excellent concept for hotel dining options. Good for all types of travelers, singles, families, etc. Gorgeous pastry selection.

Yelp
In my previous review, Marché Artisans was still in its running-in period and have improved greatly since, therefore the past rating is no longer justified. I now go very frequently to this place because at lunch time it offers a lot of very high quality dining options that you can have on spot or take-away. Being a woman of habit, I always take their orzo salad which is excellent with a pastry. All the pastries that I've tried so far were excellent! They also offer a catering service for events like during the Christmas festivities, last year I ordered their proposed Christmas dinner for my home everything was perfectly organized and well done, the food was really good, I did not regret my investment. The service has also improved significantly, they take great care of their customers and it shows, I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Loved everything here! Service is a tad slow so make sure you're not short on time. The experience while there was cozy though so the time didn't matter!

Yelp
Omg love love love this cute Canadian market (for souveniers) attached to the hotel!! It has a market shop and then in the back different food stations to sit and eat at. Try pizza from the pizza station, wine from the charcuterie bar, or soup and freshly sliced salami from the deli. The servers are so kind and helpful. Prices are very fair and food is super fresh. They offer brunch on the weekends too! Spend the afternoon eating small bites to include macarons with friends!

Yelp
Located at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, southeast from Place Ville Marie, Marché Artisan is a gourmet market and high-end food court, combined. The space was well lit and combined a bright white interior with wood and stainless steel accents. There were several communal/ bar eating areas. At one entrance, there are tempting trays of flaky breakfast pastries and coffee options. Charcuterie, fresh juices, produce, maple syrup, artisanal pasta, aged olive oils, balsamic vinegars, and meats are also displayed throughout the market, to name a few. Shoppers can sample cheeses, enjoy a salumi tray, or watch the creation of marvelous chocolate truffles or desserts. As well, you can purchase aprons, kitchen towels, cutting boards and other kitchen items in this market. Throughout the market are areas to enjoy well-prepared meals. Originally, a friend and I tentatively planned to meet up for coffee and breakfast, but plans fell through. Okay, I was not interested waking up so early. I do that all too often for work and was not prepared to do so while on vacation. Instead, we dropped by for a mid-day snack, Kaos French pastry, espresso, and juice. The delectable dessert featured dark chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache, and pearls. Everyone was beyond helpful and pleasant. Be prepared, though, for the gourmet price points.

Yelp
This very beautiful "marché" full of stunning pastries, delicate sweets, inspiring crafts, delicious cheese, meats and more opened fairly recently inside the Fairmount Queen Elizabeth hotel, probably much to the delight of their guests. It's a very fancy market - less of a Jean-Talon and more of a Holt Renfrew or Ogilvy. The place is luminous and welcoming, and is much bigger than one would expect looking from the outside. The different counters offer a huge diversity of goods. Near the entrance is the sweet stuff, with gorgeous cakes, tarts and other pastries. The chocolate Christmas trees look particularly pretty, and so do the candied fruits. Further in are jars, oils and other preserved goods, along with a section for Montreal- and Quebec-related souvenirs (local landmarks, maple syrup, etc.). Next is the fresh vegetable and fruit section, which is a bit disappointing. It's not in the Marché Artisans' strengths to sell produce, and I doubt that many people would go there just to buy a bit of kale or some jalapeno. The selection is small and pricey. A single Ataulfo mango is 3.49$, and a small pack of grapes (from California) costs 11.78$/kilo! They do have fresh chanterelle, which is nice, but the oyster mushrooms are again overpriced, and can be bought from the nearby Chinatown at less than half the cost. The ready-to-eat counter is at the very back, and offers a selection of sandwiches, sushi, fresh fruits, etc. Next to it is the meat counter with beautifully arranged, neatly bundled pork, veal and lamb roasts ready to enter the oven. Beside the counter, a temperature-controlled cabinet displays aged steaks and fois gras. A few steps further comes a sit-down area where you can order a nice delicatessen plate while chatting with friends. The whole place is a gold mine if you're looking for gifts for food-loving friends and family, but keep in mind that prices are on the high end. Note. The place had a strong smell of brown butter for some reason.

Yelp
This is the Whole Foods of Canada. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here, and it was handily located on the first floor of the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel in downtown Montreal. While they had many selections of foods and notions you could purchase, the real hit was the countless hot and cold food offerings you could put together for a meal. The meal could be brought back to your room or eaten right there at numerous tables in the store. This was a delightful change from the usual room service - which is still available in the hotel - to be able to curate you own meal. Liked it a lot, and think it is just the forefront of what the future is in hotel dining. Recommended.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place- a little European escape in town. There are so many fun things to explore from gifts, chocolates, macrons, raw seafood bar, rotisserie, charcuterie and cheese shop , the list goes on. I stopped by to grab a bite - surprisingly it was affordable for a meal. I stopped by the cheese and charcuterie counter to order the 1608 grilled cheese sandwich served on freshly baked bread with carmelized onions. 1608 is a cheese launched in 2008 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of fromagerie Charlevoix. It was very filling. For the side I ordered the soup of the day- a cantaloupe, cucumber, jalapeño gazpacho-so flavourful. All that for 18$ including tax. I also picked up a bag of the Torres selecta black truffles chips to die for !!!

Yelp
An unexpected and pleasant surprise inside of the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth. With counter after counter of delicious delights and an array of incredible artisanal foods, this market is like a mini Harrod's. With seafood, meats, cheeses and more, it's as much a high end grocery store as it is a food counter. And the stuff they have here is amazing! I'm so happy this has come to Montreal. Pro Tip: Try the chowder and the steak sandwich. Both were fantastic.

Yelp
Great staff , decent food, kept very clean with an open kitchen. Good in a pinch if you're staying at the hotel and don't want to go out, or call for a delivery.

Yelp
Came back again and again for rotisserie chicken and vegetables. We also had their to-go salads and chocolate. All was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. Loved it!

Yelp
Stopped in here for an afternoon snack and had the best crepe and waffle I have ever had in my life. I am not really huge on baked goods and sweets, but these blew me away. If I lived nearby I would probably gain weight from eating these as they would be impossible to resist. Both were handmade right in front of me, for me. I was astounded as the process was so perfect, yet economically inefficient: I could not believe that I was getting such a phenomenal product at that price.

Yelp
Great selection. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. We stayed at the Fairmont for 3 nights and stopped by for quick meals and snacks throughout our time there.
