The Best Bakeries in Portland, Oregon | Eater Portland

"For those looking to be transported to Paris with elaborate entremets and beautiful laminated pastries, look no further than Artisserie Fine Bakery on Northwest 23rd Avenue. A gleaming display case shows off an array of macarons, croissants, beignets, and mini entremet mousse cakes; pros head straight for the chocolate Rocher croissant, a croissant filled with crunchy chocolate-pecan filling similar to the candy truffles, or the caramelized canelés, spiked with vanilla and liquor. Keep an eye out for seasonal treats like pumpkin pie croissants." - Michelle Lopez

Great french pastries. I highly recommend the raspberry croissant it was filled with so much cream and raspberry but still so flakey. Having the pistachio croissant after the raspberry was a little disappointing tho since the raspberry had so much filling and the pistachio didn't. There wasn't much filling or pistachio flavor but I still enjoyed it thanks to how soft yet flakey it was. I look forward to trying more of their pastries.

Google
Absolutely stunning pastries 😍 Not only beautiful to look at but incredibly delicious too! The pink lady dessert was perfectly balanced, light, and creamy with a lovely fruity flavor, and the delicate white flower on top was such a sweet touch. The Dubai Butterfly was packed with fresh flavor, with a rich chocolatey base and a nutty crunch that made every bite satisfying. You can tell these were made with care and top-quality ingredients. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates artisanal desserts!

Google
Ran across this bakery while on a day trip to Portland. The variety of pastries, sandwiches, and cakes made it so hard to choose. The raspberry and pistachio croissants are a must. Will definitely try again when back in town.

Google
Got the ham and cheese croissant and the vanilla cream kouign-amann to eat and the lavender fog latte and pistachio latte, both iced. Both pastries were flakey and buttery, but maybe a touch dry from sitting out for a while (we got there around 11am). The ambience was delightfully French including the staffs ability to take their time and not worry about rushing despite a line. Would definitely go again.

I don't know why it took me so long to learn about this patisserie. Actually I know why. Portlands government allowed homeless people to trash downtown and I stopped coming many years ago. I'm happy thought this shop exists and more importantly is openiya decoy location. The ambiance, service and food are 5 stars. My kids loved their raspberry croissant and mango filled square croissant. We are definitely coming back. P.S. after reading some negative reviews I can say. I was served by a girl who was ok just not that excited to be there and after watching a guy at the register serving a few customers before me I can see a difference. He was exidted, engaging people and talking so positively about products, shop and the shops owner. Without him and just with that girl I can see how those negative reviews about service can come about. This shop comes across as high end so service is expected the same. I hope it helps

We got the Pink Lady and it was not worth the price. Or the hype. The outside tasted like sticky sugar icing but cake icing would taste better. It was just very bland imo. It was fun cutting into it tho lol and trying something new. I’ll think I’ll plan a day to try out the new Champagne Poetry place.

I stumbled upon this amazing french bakery while exploring one of my favorite neighborhoods filled with unique shops. The bakery offers an amazing selection of cakes, desserts, pastries, sandwiches and coffee, each beautifully decorated and visually appealing. The colorful displays make everything look so tempting. In addition to the delicious treats, they also have a variety of teas, as well as cups and teapots available for purchase. With so much to try, I’m definitely planning to return to this shop.

Good service, very good pastries and desserts, wish there was more seating. They do have complimentary water.

Yelp
Maci was so lovely when I called. I'm French and adore a genuine patisserie but they all seem Americanized except for this one. Their chou à la crème aux fruits de la passion is my absolute favorite. We called for my birthday hoping they would have some left by the time we got there and Maci was kind enough to set aside some (p.s. to the owners, she's a gem). If you're looking for a more authentic patisserie experience that isn't super americanized and cloyingly sweet to mask their mistakes, something more authentic then checkout Artisserie! I'm almost afraid to publish this review because I selfishly want to keep this secret my own! Their location reminds me of one of Pierre Hermé's locations in Paris.

Yelp
Great dessert shop in a cutesy shop area of a nice neighborhood in Portland. There were so many desserts to choose from and were all for eyes as well (and not just good in taste). It's a great shop to catch to get some breaks. The only thing was..there were very limited seating (only a few tables outside) and no access to restrooms.

Yelp
Carrot cake with mango was SO good! Worth the $10. Not too sweet just right! Was given a sample of a chocolate piece of mousse cake and it was delicious! Nice service. Paid parking along the street.

Yelp
Wow, we loved every bite! The pastries here are seem to owe a lot to French inventions in glazing that came out of the nouvelle cuisine movement, such as using gelatin to create a thin and flavorful glaze like these, so beautiful and shiny, so delicate, so unlike the overpowering and heavy nature of fondant. The cherry mousse, resplendent in its shiny glaze and adorned with a fondant cherry blossom was so appealing to the eye, but in quite unusual fashion... it had REAL TASTE! The glaze was SO full of cherry flavor, no overpowering but enough to overcome the strong chocolate. The cadelle, a simple affair, was as it should be an old-school eggy delight. The tart was very flavorful and the millefleur... or was it croissant pastry... was beautifully layered and buttery but again, the fruit overcame the competition and shined through with enough flavor, an unusual feat these days, an accomplished hand of a truly good pastry chef at work here. We shall return WHENEVER we are on NW 23rd!

Yelp
Simply artistic, elegantly crafted, visually appealing, and pleasing to the palate. Their only crime is that you will want to come back for more. It can get a bit pricey if you go too overboard, which I did, but every item was scrumptious. One of our dining guests was gluten free, so we ordered the Cocoa Noir, the Tropical Bloom, and the Macarons. All wonderful choices. I'm not gluten free myself, and usually avoid anything gluten free, but none of these desserts tasted like that. All were deliciously exceptional. We also got the fruit tarts, and the Chocolate Fleur with raspberry. Everything was perfection. We will definitely be back again, and unfortunately again, and most likely again. What a treat!

Yelp
Divine pastries and baked goods!! The place lives up to its name by making all their offerings and art of themselves. Everything looks so pretty and delicious. We grabbed the Pistachio Crossiant and the Tropical Cake. The crossiant was MASSIVE, some of the biggest crossiant I've had. It's also flaky and buttery. Not the freshest crossiant I've had but flavors were still great. The pastry cream inside was a plus as well. Too bad they don't have seatings. They also serve coffee and savory items. Will definitely be back to try more!

Yelp
Dropped by in the evening, not much pastry selection left but that's to be expected since closing was soon. They still had a lot of mousse cakes out. I got the pink lady, winter blossom, and cocoa noir. My favorite was the pink lady or winter blossom, the pink lady if you're looking for more fruity & winter blossom for sweet. The almond croissant was delicious. Pretty big, nice and flaky on the outside & all those layers on the inside. The bakery itself has a luxurious look, lots of bright white & accents of gold. Staff greeted us when we came in & was friendly. I did appreciate that they tape the bottom of the mousse cakes to the box! Little detail that makes all the difference in making sure your desserts don't move around in the box. I mainly wanted to try this place for their mousse cakes & they did not disappoint!

Yelp
It's my sisters birthday and of course we had to go find some yummy sweet treats to bring home! Upon some yelping, I found this place and off we go for a nice long walk. It's obviously been a couple weeks so I can't fully remember each one but I do remember quite enjoying them! I think I was only slightly disappointed by the fruit tart! Perhaps the custard wasn't up to my standards. But the others were fun to dig into and share! Cute little shop with attentive ladies. Would have bought more things to try but my siblings stopped me. Lol
google avatar

Yelp
Gorgeous, the shop and the pastry! This sweet little French patisserie offers artfully composed individual cakes, macaron, several flavors of croissant, fresh baked bread and a small selection of sandwiches and espresso drinks. The shelves that line the store hold treats like salted licorice and jams. We enjoyed a delicious pastry with a flaky croissant base, pastry cream and an abundance of fruits, including mango and berries. A coconut chip cookie was reminiscent of an Almond Joy, and a mini baguette was a must for the road. While there is no in store seating, there are a few sidewalk seats if you can't wait to enjoy your treats.

Yelp
They should have 5 stars just for how beautiful their croissants are. They look like works of art. I've never seen anything like it before. They also have more cookie options than I thought.
google avatar

Yelp
This is such a cute French cafe on 23rd! When you walk in, it's very clean, beautiful, and there's so many pastries lined up in glasses on your left and bread and savories on your right. I've tried both their almond and raspberry croissants and while the croissant itself is so fluffy and crispy, the filling tends to be too sweet and overwhelming for my taste (personal preference!). On the other hand, their cakes are so diverse and they are delicious. One thing to note is that, there's no inside seating, which is a huge bummer if you're trying to enjoy some pastries or coffee with friends and really inconvenient with Portland's rainy weather. If they only had that addition, it would be 5 stars!

Yelp
It was my first time going. Environment: a very pretty place! It does have a nice European patisserie vibe and it was a nicely lit area. Lots of things to see and admire. Staff: friendly and also recommended me what to eat, what was seasonable, and also provided different milk options when I asked for it. Food: 1. Chocolate Noir for $10.50. Yep, it's a fancy place so the price of the dessert is more than average. However, I think it's good as a reward or treat for yourself! Chocolate noir is all chocolate. Chocolate ganache base with chocolate mousse and just chocolate over chocolate over chocolate. Then, they added a bit of gold flakes on top! To be honest, gold flakes aren't needed but it does level up the dessert. I loved how it was not too sweet. Each layer has its own textures and the unique chocolate flavors. It was SO good. I loved the rich, smooth, and silky mousse, and the outer chocolate layer has a bit of a chewy texture which was also fun to eat. I enjoyed it. 2. Iced latte 12oz for $5.00. I asked for small but they need to put it in a 12oz cup so I thought there would be a bit more but it was a very tiny drink. It didn't feel like the cup was even 12oz. I asked for nonfat milk but it was okay. The flavor was present but for the price you pay for the amount, I might skip out on that next time. Nothing outstanding, but not bad either. I have yet to try their croissants. I know they're known for that, too. If I drop by that area again, I would love to try another of their cakes or pastries!

Yelp
Beautifully crafted delicious desserts. Whenever I'm in the area I make my way to this place for a tasty treat or two. I tried the pistachio croissant and OH MY GOODNESS!! It was heavenly! The desserts are almost to beautiful to eat....almost! You can taste the love that went into handcrafting each and every one of these beautiful specimens of deliciousness. So if and when you are in the area "treat yourself" and call it self care "wink wink" you won't regret it.

Yelp
This bakery is one I'm excited to return to and actually tryout one of their desserts. Warmly greeted when my friend and I stopped in on our way to get boba. It definitely has sidewalk appeal. The shop itself is beautiful, clean and all of their desserts looked tasty. I walk in this neighborhood often so I'm excited to come back for a lunch or dessert!

Yelp
We were helped by sweet ladies behind the counter. Picked up a number of pastries to celebrate my sister's birthday and enjoyed an assortment of items. We got: - Pink lady - pavlova - fruit tart - praline jewel We were there in the afternoon and there weren't any croissants left that we could see. My only critique was that I couldn't get as much of the fruit flavors I was hoping for from the various pastries and that the praline jewel was a bit too sweet for me after one bite.
google avatar

Jenna W.

Yelp
Wow I felt like I was walking into a patisserie in the Marais. The only differences are no one was speaking French, and also Marais patisseries tend to specialist a bit more so they probably wouldn't have both beautiful galettes and sandwiches, because you can walk around any corner for a bakery or cafe. But this is Portland! So we need it all! I had a classic fruit tarte which was perfect but not exceptional, and a hazelnut chocolate cake which was perfect AND exceptional. I can't remember what it was called (something wintry), but it had a hazelnut cookie base and a chocolate mousse topping, and it was everything I've ever wanted. I will definitely be back to try more. It took a lot of self-control to not walk out with an armload of croissants and Calissons (provençal almond candy).
google avatar

Yelp
We popped in for a Raspberry croissant to settle a berries and cream craving. This croissant did not last long but we enjoyed every bite. We loved their shop-it is gorgeous to look at, and you can clearly see the artistry they put into the presentation of their pastries and goods as well as their flavors. I was blown away by it all and wish we could have stayed longer. Outstanding flavors and service!
google avatar

Yelp
Must try macarons...I thought I didn't care for macarons since every one I've ever had have been meh but WOW...this is clearly how they're SUPPOSED to be! Light, packed with flavor. Also the two pastries we got to go were fabulous-a cream puff type and a peach. Oh and the pistachio cookie was perfection. First time in and SO impressed. Will def be back next time we are in the area. I can't wait to try their almond croissants which looked to die for!!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by while on vacation to Portland. Love the interior design and the atmosphere is elegant and clean! Wall on the right has beautiful home decor kitchen and baked goods. Service was great, desserts are beautiful. there was nice outdoor seating under the trees- love that about OR!
google avatar

Keizzel C.

Yelp
Stopped in by happenstance when walking in the area and noticed this was a new establishment in the area. It's really bright and clean space where you're greeted by the cases of the colorful macaroons or the loaves of breads lining the wall. We weren't too hungry for many pastries but looking for something sweet to top of our meal so it worked out. We ended up just getting the vanilla kougin amans since they are my FAVE! I was tempted by other items but had to resist this time. The staff recommended heating it up for a bit and it was wonderful warm and just melted in your mouth. Not the healthiest thing you can probably eat but worth it if you are treating yourself! They also package your pastries in a cute box so it can hold well by the time you get home and want to enjoy it. Need to come back to try their other goodies but that will have to wait.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a limited review because, while I wasn't hungry, I was walking by this new bakery on 23rd Avenue and I had to stop in and take a look around. The beauty, cleanliness and amazingly gorgeous pastries caught my attention - I couldn't help but stop in and look around. This bakery specializes in French Patisserie - Macarons - Wedding Cakes - Fresh Bread and Premium Espresso Beverages. The store is spacious, clean and bright. It has a modern yet elegant feel. I felt very comfortable coming in and I am definitely enticed to come back and try something. I have my eye on one of the flavored croissants- raspberry currently has my eye. :-) The selection and variety of items and the amazing care you can see that has been taken to make high end pastries is a definite plus. It is true that the taste of an item comes through all senses - smell, taste and visual. So why only three stars, especially when I didn't purchase or taste one of the amazing looking desserts? It is based on the service. I was not once greeted, asked if I needed help or welcomed and asked if I wanted to learn more about what they offered. This was a turn off and I hope the owner addresses the need for developing our infamous Portland nice - welcome to their store.
google avatar

Gloria T.

Yelp
I got the apple tart, almond croissants and the raspberry croissant. I like the almond croissant a lot - the filling inside was not too sweet at all. Flaky on the outside and very soft and thick on the inside. The almond croissant size is large and heavy to hold up that price tag. The apple tart was very lightweight and tasted bland. The raspberry croissant was a good croissant, on par with other bakeries. It was filled with clotted cream and some raspberry jam. I wasn't a fan of that much clotted cream in a croissant, maybe less or none would have been fine. So I wouldn't come back for the raspberry croissant. I will come back for the almost croissant and to try try other pastries. There is a good selection so I think there is something suitable for everyone here. UPDATE: I returned to try out more items. The macarons are so good that I gave this place one more star.
google avatar

Megan L.

Yelp
In the words of Paul Hollywood, this place is "style over substance." I was really disappointed by the pastries I got overall. They LOOKED amazing -so much so, that I passed it one day while in a rush and decided to go back the next to try several items- but of the three items I got ($20), only the plain croissant would be worth getting again. It's not that the bakes were bad- the pastry itself was great- but the fillings were a huge let down and had very little flavor to them. I'm not sure how one manages to get a caprese danish (with basil, tomato and mozzarella) to be essentially flavorless, but it was achieved. The custard in the vanilla beignet tasted like sad sad cream without even the hint of vanilla to it. I eat a lot of pastries and highly respect bakers because I know how much work it takes, but this place could definitely improve upon its fillings and flavor profiles. Get the plain croissant if you go, it was a good croissant.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Flaky and flavorful croissants in unique flavors. The cookie croissant worked surprisingly well with differing textures and pain au chocolat was our family's favorite.

Yelp
I went to Lyon, France just before the Pandemic, and we ate a food market that, Paul Bocuse (most famous French chef) set up. There was bakery within the market that sold the most wonderful pastries. My favorite is one the in the photo below. I have dreamed of that pastry ever since. I so excited when I tried their Pink Lady. It was the same type of pastry minus the fresh blueberries. But it was just as heavenly as though I was in Lyon. Their coconut cookie was sinfully delicious. This is a must.

Yelp
This bakery is stellar . The croissants are amazing. Go for the original and savor the buttery goodness. I met the baker, and she was amazing and even told me about the day old deals ! Totally will be a frequent customer

Yelp
Ordered a couple of treats before closing which included the raspberry croissant, the Cherry Bomb and the Pink Lady. Was surprised the croissant was still crispy, It had a nice dessicated rasberry powder just slightly sprinkled on top and it was tart and lovely on the lips. It had a delicious cream that isn't whip cream, but it was a little runny and oh so good. The croissant was a pretty pink and red throughout and I enjoyed the croissant, but it wasn't noteworthy. Still, I'd like to try that croissant in the morning when it first comes out of the oven to see what the butter notes are like when it's fresh out of the oven to the point that it's just saying ouch. The Cherry Bomb has a tacky, gelatinous type shell covering what could be described as a german chocolate cake- whipped cream with cherry filling with just a touch of sourness to it. It had what looked like a chocolate cookie base, but it was more of a wafery consistency and it was really nice. The Pink Lady is a little hard to describe. It's that same tacky gelatinous covering over a very thin layer of I guess is white chocolate dyed to be pink. When I cut into it with my fork I was so confused because I didn't not expect the crunchy layer, so when the fork sunk into the gelatin then broke the chocolate layer, I didn't know what to make of it. Still it's a solid dessert with a little whipped cream, white cake, and lots of tart raspberry jelly inside. There are also tart crunchies on the outside added with precision I imagine by someone yielding a tweezer as they even ly space the tiny, minimal super flavored dragees. This was such an odd dessert. I liked it, but it was a lot of stuff going on. Nothing really stood out to me as anything I'd come back to try, but I was happy for the experience of these treats. This place is about French finery but with bold flavors and that's not a mix I'm used to. I like it a lot.

Chris M.

Yelp
Top notch pastries and top notch coffee. The people who work here are wonderful. All while being able to enjoy the sights, sounds, and vibe of 23rd. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Holy ish-balls! This bakery is amazing! I feel like I'm stepping into an art gallery of pastries and desserts. All the goods were so beautiful! We were greeted by both staff when we entered. Super friendly and welcoming. We ordered the pain au raisins that had rum custard in the middle. Our eyes rolled back with our first bites into the pastry. Omg. Buttery, perfect flakiness, not overly sweet. So happy we popped in!!

Yelp
What a delight! The current trend is to create pastries that look like bright gems or jeweled gifts and Artisserie Fine Bakery has perfected this skill. Every item is gorgeous! More important, they are delicious! The almond croissant was crisp and buttery with a slightly sweet and creamy almond filling. I typically don't pay $6.50 for a croissant but this was worth it! They bake beignets and fill with vanilla or chocolate cream, the baking gives them a denser doughnut texture. They have beautiful individual fruit tarts, bright pink lady cakes which are almond in flavor, a chocolate cake shaped like an eclair with chocolate ganache icing, chocolate and plain croissants, even savory ham & cheese croissants. The iced sugar cookies are a work of art! Loaves of bread and baguettes, too. They just opened last week and are getting up to speed. Everything is baked in their kitchen in SE Portland and they are adjusting to volume. They soon plan on offering sandwiches on their fresh baguettes and bread and salads. Wedding cakes and other celebratory cakes can be ordered. They have several cakes for purchase in one of their display cases and they are as gorgeous as the individual pastries. The full coffee and tea bar features illy coffee. They also sell some local products from Jacobsen's salt, local tea, and even tea cups and espresso cups. The shop is bright and very spacious. Lots of room to check out the various pastry cases and the local items on the back wall. There are a couple of bistro tables and chairs outside on the sidewalk. Located on NW 23rd right across from Papa Haydn, stop in and be delighted!
google avatar

Charlie T.

Yelp
Stumbled across this place as we were walking down NW 23rd. The place is pretty small with only 2 small tables outside. They have some well presented sweets that you really don't want to ruin by eating them. We tried the hazelnut Truffle and liked the texture and flavor of the treat. They also have some coffee that you can order with your snack.
google avatar

Martin W.

Yelp
Just across from Papa Haydn - our go to place for great pastry - I discovered this very Parisienne fine bakery. As expected the pastry is like a piece of art. The moment you walk in you feel like you are in a Galery full of art. And basically you are baking is an artistry of its own. And especially European influences bakery is not only about taste but also art But then art is not something that tastes good. But this bakery delivers on flavor as well. I had the croissant with rum and Raisins and the winter blossom. And as a treat some latte coffee with illy beans from Italy
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
Super cute elegant spot that gives off European vibes. The cocoa noir was good, however had a very strong aftertaste. The chocolate tasted like molasses which for me is empowering, so you might want to try this one last. As for the Cherry Pearl, I wasn't able to really taste the chocolate white moose because of the Bordeaux cherry in the middle. I suggest to try last and to get this if you're a cherry fan (not so much for me). The red velvet melts in your mouth and has a perfect touch of sweetness. It's creamy and silky and leaves such a nice dessertgasm in your mouth! Highly recommend as first bite of choice!! Winter blossom, you can taste the hazelnut and this seemingly gives off a mock tiramisu.. but just shaped differently! Not too sweet, where it's bearable to eat in three bites! The crispy hazelnut base compliments the mousse on top. Last but not least, The Pink Lady! As you take a bite, a burst of tart from the lemon cream hits you first! Be sure to take a bite of the crunchy dolce while you're at it. This piece of goodness is more tarty than sweet. Room for improvement: The chocolate beignet was a bit disappointing. It tasted bitter but I think I expected it to be sweet. Perhaps I never had this type of chocolate in a beignet before. Bummed I did not get the vanilla beignet instead but until next time.... We tried each flavor of the cookies and the only flavor I really liked was the lemon one! Literally tasted like virgin lemon drop in all good ways! Would highly recommend this place and I'm so happy this is walking distance from me. They have more than just desserts such as sandwiches and salads you can grab on the go.

Yelp
The food is amazing, ambiance is great, and the service is awesome! The staff's very friendly and accommodating. 100% would go back!

Yelp
Wow! Believe the hype and over spend but your taste buds will be delighted! The pink lady with mirror gloss and soft creme inside and a delightful raspberry filling was incredible! My daughter loved the green pavlova with raspberry filling and the choclatine chocolate croissant was amazing!

Yelp
This is the closest to Paris I think we can get in Portland! Artisserie is such a cute and classy bakery. It's nestled in Nob Hill, making it a perfect spot to grab a treat or coffee while walking along the shops on 23rd. I love how the pastries are so beautifully presented here. Each one looked like a work of art! The staff was very friendly too, and they even offered a sample of one of their pastries. We got the raspberry delight croissant, chocolatine, fruit basket, and almond croissant. My favorite was definitely the chocolatine. I'm not even a big chocolate person, but the dark chocolate was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating it! I highly recommend checking this place out!
google avatar

Johnny N.

Yelp
A nice stroll down nw 23rd to explore all the shops. Artisserie adds to Portland's A-list of bakeries. The croissants are so buttery crisp and have the airy holes you see in Parisian IG bakery videos. I ordered a raspberry, almond, regular butter and apple puff pastry. Here's the difference with Artisserie. The baked items actually stay fresh the next day. The items don't go soft or soggy which was impressive. Raspberry croissant had a custard crème inside with a thin raspberry jam. So good and not overly tart. The almond croissant was delightful. Rows or perfectly toasted nutty almonds were crisp. The almond frangipane or paste inside was sweet and gooey enough to enjoy with each bite. Apple puff pastry? The flaky layers were like a filo dough but more croissant like. Simply amazing but not too sweet All the croissants were thick with a triangular middle. the level of culinary craftsmanship is special. I'm going to say Artisserie is much better than St Honore. Going to have to try the cakes next time. There's all salads and baguette sandwiches to go. Try Artisserie and you'll taste the buttery goodness.

Yelp
These pastries are AMAZING! Absolutely beautiful! They were almost too beautiful to eat! We came here because my daughter is obsessed with Bluey and she learned about Pavlovas and this was the only place in Portland that I could find one (small enough) to just take care of her desire to try one. Meanwhile, there were enough other tasty bits that the rest of us could experiment with exquisite and delightful treats! It's out of the way, parking can be a pain, but do yourself a favor and enjoy this quaint little business!

Yelp
OMG! The chocolate croissant was probably the best I have ever had! I am still dreaming of it. Lamination for days, flaky, buttery and delicious. The chocolate was exquisite and not just a hard chuck, it was silky and was included with intention and thought. The staff was super friendly even during the rush of the holidays! I highly, highly recommend- and definitely get the Chocolate croissant

Yelp
Delicious pastries, but no place to sit and enjoy them. Enjoying the treats along 23rd wasn't appealing which makes this a bad place for a date...

Yelp
The photographic images speak for themselves. Curated for the soft pallet, Artisserie Fine Bakery is one of Portland's premiere, top-notch bakeries and will soon be recognized for its excellent customer service.

Yelp
Had been eyeing this bakery as soon as it was open and was just waiting for the perfect time to drop in! Came by with a couple of friends on a weekday and there was not too much of a crowd, woohoo! We were all pretty glassy eyed once we saw the treats and had a really hard time deciding what to get~ I went with the chocolate beignet and my friend had the pavlova. Also grabbed a kouign amann because how can you not? Aesthetically, all the desserts are super eye catching and quite beautiful. Taste wise I'd say there were a solid 4 for me particularly given the price. That being said, it does look like lots of great effort went into making these great pastries and I will most likely return to try other goodies on the menu, including the coffee. Prices are a little steep but the portions and the time/effort to make these pastries truly justifies the price imo. Street parking in this area is a struggle so plan wisely, but otherwise, head on over and try some goods~

Yelp
Probably a 4.5 because of all the beautiful desserts and cakes. Overall the shop looks like a fancy Paris patisserie, and it's fun exploring all the desserts that look like art pieces. But I knocked off a star from perfection because the croissants and baked items, while also beautiful looking, weren't as flakey or light as other croissants I've had. For example, I tried the raspberry croissant and the raspberry jam inside was nice but the croissant felt heavy, and the koiugh amann with apple was really thick and tough. So I feel they shine more in the dessert space, like the pavlova with lime curd that was sublime and so beautiful. I definitely would come back to explore the cakes and desserts.

Yelp
Right next to Lush store, this little place used to be a small clothing store that specializes in bridesmaid dresses. You would not be able to tell that if you go in now. They have painted the inside white and has installed mirror on the walls to your left, upon entering. The intent is to make the place look bigger with the white vacant walls on the "workers" side and the mirror on the "consumer" side. It works, but only to a point. It does get a little claustrophobic because of the massive divide between. I do understand tho that the space for the pastry must be big for presentation and for easy access from their part but it's just a bit unnecessarily too big. Overall, they seem to keep the place clean at all times. The staff wears a cute uniform but isn't overly friendly. The prices are high, but is sort of expected because it's "artisanal". I'm not sure though if the price matched the quality of their pastries because I don't know how fresh it is. it's not an actual bakery, even though the word "bakery" is in their name. It's more of a pastry store. The seating area is minimal. Barely any, to be exact. The parking is street parking, which means it's non-existent, especially on a weekend, but that's every store on this street (23rd) so I'm not docking it for that, just something to be aware of before you go here. With a starting point of 5 stars; -1 star for the big misnomer. "Bakery" that doesn't bake anything. -1 star for the lack of proper seating.

Yelp
Beautiful store with even more beautiful pastries, all of them were a work of art! They are not just pretty, they taste delicious. We had the chocolate mousse, raspberry croissant, the beignets and some cookies and all were delightful. Service was also very friendly and packed our goodies very well. I wish they had a couple of small tables to sit down, we are out of towners, so it was a bit hard to eat it in the car. Or at least offer some forks and spoons on the counter for those who want to eat it right away. We didn't try coffee, but would have if they had tables.
