Google
A must see and will open your mind into a whole new way of experiencing art. This was my second visit and each time was different because the art spaces are created by invited resident artists over time. Each art space at the entrance has a paper handout introduction to the artist and a description of the artist exhibit intentions. The staff here are knowledgeable, friendly, and if asked will guide you through any or all the art spaces. It is also good to note it is free, safe, and maintained nicely. I highly recommend a visit here, each exhibit will open your mind by taking a journey to explore what each art space has to offer.

Art pace has their own parking lot. Look for the red building.

Google
It was kind of a weird experience. While the art was beautiful and very sophisticated, it didn't feel like much was happening outside of it. You are given two rooms to explore and that's it. I went really slow through the exhibits and it took me approximately 10 minutes to read everything.

Google
Stumbled across this perfect lil local art museum, and it absolutely made my day! It’s free. The exhibit rooms are stunning. The staff were so kind and friendly. It’s not big or time consuming, but I still loved my time here

Google
awesome free space for unique art exhibitions & collections in a prime location downtown! we enjoyed the tribute to DJ Screw entitled “Slowed & Throwed: Viewing Houston through a Mutated Lens”, very interesting to see real artifacts such as grey screw tapes, hand written track lists, letters, LP records etc all personally owned by the originator Robert Earl Davis himself. Will return to SA’s public art hub soon!

Google
If you’re looking for a local art museum that always has great exhibits, and is FREE, Artpace is the place to check out. Located near downtown proper, the museum has awesome exhibits on rotation with contributing artists actually in-residence working on their creations and shows. Awesome aesthetic and always having some sort of event that’s worth visiting for.

Google
Interesting residential artist non-profit gallery. 3 exhibits currently, from artists who stayed there 3-months. Honestly, not my cup of tea, but the facility is nice and the staff is friendly.

Artpace is a cool little art gallery that’s really fun to wander around in. When we visited, all the gallery spaces were open so there was a good variety of art to explore.

Yelp
It's a great place to visit my family and I had fun the artwork was pretty cool the staff was awesome.

Yelp
This is a free art museum. There is free parking at 513 N Flores, which is a 5 minute walk to the art museum. I love how there are multiple rooms with a variety of different artwork on display. Some of the room that you can go into are actually offices and meeting rooms! It seems like there are new collections and exhibits at least 2 times a year. The employees were so gracious and friendly. Highly recommend stopping by if you are downtown!

Yelp
Friendly knowledgeable staff. The Pieces were great and I definitely enjoyed myself. Free museum for everyone, donation's accepted. It's a small place compared to other art museums but the art work is not. The selection and pieces are beautiful. Definitely worth a peek inside.

Yelp
I visited Artpace for the first time a few weeks ago, and I'm glad I finally found the time to visit, because it's pretty amazing. So what is it? Artpace is nonpprofit residency program for artists. Each year, a guest curator selects three artists for residency - one Texas artist, one U.S. artist, and one international artist. The artists can create new art which is displayed in the building as an exhibit. Will the art always be your cup of tea? Definitely not. Is it still amazing that artists get support to be able to create new art and that the San Antonio community can experience it? Yes. So if you're interested in contemporary art, definitely stop by! It's free to visit, has free parking, and is open 7 days a week! And you might just learn about a new artist or type or art you didn't even know about!

Yelp
Swing over since we have time before our lunch reservation. The place is small and has a free parking behind the building on the other side of the street. Staffs are friendly and take time to explain us about the arts in the building. There aren't too many exhibitions when we were there this weekend.

Yelp
What a great place for free too. Nice people and wonderful art. Wedding venue too. Awesome.

Yelp
We were visiting San Antonio and wanted to do something indoors to escape the summer heat. Some reviews mentioned that they were able to spend an hour here, but there were only three exhibits open when we visited on a weekday afternoon. We only spent about 30 minutes here. I do appreciate that each of the exhibit artists had descriptions of their art pieces including the meaning of their art. The art was all interesting, I just wish it was larger since we drove a distance to get here. There is a very large free parking lot right across from the back corner of the space. It is a fenced area that has a Artspace label on it.

Yelp
I've lived all over the United States and this is absolutely one of the best contemporary art institutions I've ever seen. San Antonio is so lucky to have it. The staff is awesome. The curators and artists are so good. It's an incredibly high roster of talent who has graced and graces artpace's 4 galleries. I love the concept of this space and how it doesn't forget its own Texas artists while showcasing international ones. I live in New York and make sure to visit artpace every time in s.a. Visiting family. Great size space. You can see everything in under an hour. It's free. There's no reason not to go.

Yelp
I used to love the Artpace. It was a great place to visit and they had an awesome membership program. I was a member for multiple years. I loved it for the cool art and the great parties they threw many times a year. It's always free to visit the Artpace even if you aren't a member. As a member you used to get these benefits: 1) Access to the four summer rooftop parties for free 2) You could bring a guest with you for free to the rooftop parties 3) An open bar during all events for you and your guest 4) A live band performance on the rooftop during the summer parties 5) Access to the art during the parties 6) Free parking near the building for events All of that was awesome and I was a member because of it. I would sing the Artpace praise to all that would listen. Then in the June of 2018 it horribly went wrong. They stopped allowing you to bring a guest with you to the rooftop parties for free. Your guest had to pay money($15)to get in or become a member($60 a year). The open bar vanished and it was a cash bar only. No free beverages during the smaller events during the year as well. I wasn't happy at all. I respectfully talked to the lady in charge about my concerns and they refused to do anything to keep members from leaving because of the changes that they made in 2018. Some of my friends didn't renew their membership as well. I would have given them one star but there are some positives things about the Artpace. You can visit the place for free and you have access to free parking when you visit. I will eventually view the interesting art they have for free again. I will never become a member until they make being a member great again. Check them out for yourself. Don't become a member.

Yelp
I went in out of curiosity and found a VERY avant-garde gallery. They are deliberately trying to be as modern as possible, complete to resident artists. In this they succeeded, but I did not care for any of the installations. It was free, though, so curiously won't cost you much.

Yelp
I've been a fan and Patron of this particular exhibit location for many years. Beautiful concept great space, couldn't be any better of a location right in the middle of downtown. Thankfully they keep everything fresh and constantly relevant. Their new Friday morning mixers on the rooftop is a beautiful concept.

Yelp
The concept of Artpace is phenomenal: rotating artists in set blocks of time throughout the year with representation of one US, one Texsan, and one international artist. Members of the museum get invited to openings and fundraisers. The gallery is always cutting edge and organized well inside of a warehouse type setting. The issue is regularity of general public hours. I have been on numerous occasions where they are either between exhibits or the exhibits are not open for viewing. I would highly suggest calling before visiting. The free parking lot is a bit up the street if you look for a fenced area that says Artpace. If not metered street parking is available.

Yelp
This is such an amazing asset to our city. It's free to visit, and with rotating artists you can visit multiple times a year with new art to see each time. Of course, you can also become a member and get some perks along with that membership - and support the arts as well! They do artist talks that are quarterly (I think - sign up for their newsletter to get more info!) which feature free local beer and wine!! Since they have rotating artists, each time they change, they have the current resident artists speak about their work. This was the first time I've attended something like this, and it was awesome to hear the artist speak about his work: what inspired him, what his thoughts were, why he chose certain colors, etc. This is a small gallery with multiple floors, as well as a rooftop terrace (where they do coffee/doughnuts on Fridays - again, get that newsletter!) so you don't have to spend long here. Just enough to get your fill of creativity and inspiration.

Yelp
This is a really neat concept and I absolutely love supporting artists, but unfortunately this type of art didn't resonate with me. I would be interested to see future displays, but while it was cool to check out for a few minutes, this is not an art space I could spend hours marveling in. I won't say too much more beyond this because I didn't desire to spend enough time here to fully form a lengthy review, but several of the pieces were quite cool. Free parking is available in a large lot nearby (maybe a 3-5 minute walk) and the museum itself is free to check out, so if you're in the area and have time to kill, I would say it's probably worth checking out but I personally would not go out of my way to come here again.

Yelp
Great space. The levels are nicely divided and the space for the artists are spacious. Traffic is light but flowing. Drinks are cold and service is prompt and polite. The rooftop, is outstanding!

Yelp
This art museum was beautiful and unique! The layout was so interesting and I loved the exhibits. I will defiantly return next time I'm in San Antonio!

Yelp
This is an absolute gem in San Antonio. It's such a wonderful place to take in some art. Artpace was founded by the Linda Pace Foundation, which is a big time supporter of culture in San Antonio. Artpace sponsors all sorts of artists who display their work in the galleries. There's usually 3-4+ different artists who show off really cool and innovative works. The upstairs area has a fantastic patio that overlooks downtown San Antonio. On certain nights, they hold events up there, which is always a great time! The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They offer memberships for the place which has a lot of really great benefits. If you ask me, some of the best time to go there is on Taco Fridays, when they bring in food trucks. Om nom nom nom.

Yelp
Having never been to Artpace, I decided to check out an event called Cider Sessions with free Austin Eastciders beer, art in process by Artists in residence and a great food truck outside. The first thing I noticed, is the gallery has multiple floors that are easy to access. I also noticed that the artists work that was in process was being completed quickly with a deadline of March 20 and the allowing of seeing it truly was awesome as you get to see what an artist is feeling and thinking through their art. I enjoyed the 300 exhibition which I saw on the second floor before you visit the artist in residence art exhibits. Alot of the art I saw on the second floor was Mixed Media which was used to represent art focusing on SA Culture. Will be going back soon!

Yelp
So I came here just last night for the Bling Bling Fling and I have to say I really enjoyed the space. I had heard about it from multiple people and it was nothing but good things. The space is really huge. They have this fantastic roof top that reminds me so much of the roof top parties I loved to go to in New York. The employees are super friendly and helpful. Everytime I needed something I went to the front desk and had a massive discussion about my options which made me laugh and forget how stressed I was. They have regular exhibits going on that is free and open to the public. They also have regular events at the space. I just love the utilization of the massive space. The fact that this great place is bringing modern art to this area of San Antonio. It makes me really happy and believe that San Antonio is growing so much.

Yelp
By admission, I haven't been here in quite a while... but I've been here for a few events and have always wished that the space would book more shows. The last time I was there was to catch Joe Jack Talcum (of the Dead Milkmen) and I was amazed by how many people attended. Again, all the more reason for the place to book shows...

Yelp
A win! It's impossible to get bored in San Antonio with outstanding places like Artpace. It's intriguing how 9 artists (3 from Texas, 3 from anywhere in the US, and 3 from all over the world) are invited to live and work here for a 4 month time period (in 3 different cycles). The entire experience is FREE (artist's lectures are even offered). The vibe and atmosphere are both uplifting and empowering. Contemporary, fun, inspirational, and informative- all rolled into one. An added bonus: Delicious food trucks nearby. Artpace is proof that you don't have to go far and spend a ton of money to enjoy meaningful experiences. 100% recommend.

Yelp
The current (7/16/2012) exhibit by Jacco Olivier is very visually stimulating. It makes you sit in amazement while you are visually stimulated and transported to a changing landscape. It makes me think of a voyage which transitions from an impression of the real world into cosmic space and finally your travels end with you finding yourself looking inward to your own body, self, and micro-biotic environment. Watch it once and then apply your own soundscape with earphones. Really a wonderful experience. -Gobo (quick link to a youtube video to give you an example--awesome.) http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=jacco%20olivier&source=web&cd=11&ved=0CGYQtwIwCg&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DvezSi4euoBU&ei=CSwDUKr2O-SJ2AWFvdWDCw&usg=AFQjCNFYaNyN33NqTv0cIP_7EMRoPV8XcQ&sig2=zHcmj6pW_oqKouwi0zGi-w

Yelp
After living in NYC for 8 years I was nervous about moving back to my hometown San Antonio. I was worried that I would not experience the same amount of culture and that my art interest would suffer. Artpace has really put those fears to rest. They are a fantastic modern art space that is really dedicated to furthering the arts in San Antonio! Keep up the great work Artpace

Yelp
I signed my 8 year old up for summer camp here. She LOVED it! At first glance I sighed because I felt the price was a bit too high for me, but once she came home from her first day of camp.... I knew the price was just right. The camp was M-F 9-3pm , they provided a snack, the staff was awesome and made my daughter feel special. Everyday she woke up and was super excited to go! Thank you, Artpace, for providing my daughter an awesome time at her first summer camp!

Yelp
Took my hipster friends here today and love the fact that it was free! We had an entertaining time. Would love to come back when they have more exhibits but what we saw was cool.

Yelp
Art, great people and fabulous taco truck on Fridays! No matter the age and grade level of your students, the educators here meet you where you are and teach you about the currently displayed art!
