"Arts and Crafts aims to be a much cooler living room. The craft refers not just to the 24 rotating tap beers, but also to the creativity the bar fosters with regular art exhibitions, lectures on numerous topics, and tastings. The East Village location’s short food menu includes pizza and hot dogs, while the Morningside Heights outpost has a wider selection of bar bites. There’s no charge for occupying one of the large tables, and the bars accept requests for private events." - Paul Schrodt, Stefanie Tuder

Google
Loved the Beer Parlor! Really intimate vibes and chill atmosphere paired great with the large beer menu. Each pour we ordered came quick and ice cold and tasted great. Would recommend to a friend easily.

Alex Borg

Google
Good beer selection but no AC. It's below street level so it gets pretty stuffy. However, this means there's usually a good amount of seating late at night. Also, we arrived at 10 pm on a week day and they were already closed - I think the hours are incorrect here.

Eric Finkelstein

Google
✅Excellent draft selection ✅Menu listed on Untappd ✅Offers flights and small pours. To me, that trifecta makes this a close to perfect bar.

Petra Vřesová

Google
Pleasant quiet craft beer bar in art nouveau style. Beers in excellent condition, wide variety of styles. Smiling and acknowledge service and own untappd badge as bonus :) Pleasure to visit.

Dmitry Romanov

Google
Excellent variety of beers! And it constantly updating too. Besides beers, beware that there is almost nothing to eat. If you order a pizza you'll get a spectacular scene of a barman heating it in a microwave just on the left of a beer stand. Pizza was good btw.

Google
A cool, cozy spot to get many different pints on draft. The bartender says the "Arts" part of the name can be seen in the changing pieces of art on the walls of the tavern. Their happy hour (4-7) deal gets you four different pints for $5 a pop. A great place to do a little Power Hour before going out.

Google
Awesome craft beer bar. Atmosphere and beer list were fantastic and the bartenders were super knowledgeable and helpful - which is what I want in a place like this. I can't imagine any beer nerd not liking this place.

Lane Brettschneider

Google
Great atmosphere, great drinks and food, great service. I highly recommend the beer cheese. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
We came across this place while going for a walk and I love it so much. They have a wide selection of beers on tap. We had choice paralysis so we went for the flight which was 4 glasses of 5oz beers. I loved my passion fruit raspberry sour the most. It was so fruity! We also got some pretzel with beer cheese and mustard. The pretzel was a little small for the price but it was overall delicious. It was perfectly soft and the cheese and mustard were both amazing.

Yelp
We found this place about 7 years ago and have always made it a regular stop every time we get to NYC The beers are all good Happy hour is great The bartenders are very friendly and informative The bar itself is something out of a New York sitcom - nestled in the bottom of a building

Taylor Z.

Yelp
Pretty awesome beer bar with a nice curated list of ciders, meads, and beer! They often have fun games at night and it's definitely worth stopping by.

Meng Z.

Yelp
This place has become one of my all time favorite bars! I am a big fan of sour beers but most of the sour beers I've had so far have a cranberry base to it until I discovered the Skygazer sour they have here. I love the Skygazer and it is my fav because it is so good and taste like freshly squeezed juice! Too bad I have dinner afterwards or else I would've definitely gotten more of this drink. If you like sour beer or just fresh juice (but spiked), this is a must try! The interior of the bar itself is also very unique with many cool art works hung all over the place. The bartenders are also really attentive and friendly which really makes the entire experience and our visit great. This place is definitely worth 100% to check out!

Yelp
Nice setting. A bit pricey but great selection. Bartender super friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Love the vibe at this true craft beer parlor. Super awesome list of brews from stouts to sours they have something for everyone. Staff is friendly and there is an outdoor area for those beautiful city days. Shout out to Mike for taking my beer questions.

Allen B.

Yelp
Never in my life have I experienced a bartender add 20 percent gratuity for two beers that were $10 each. 65 year old bum needs to scam to keep his life afloat I guess.

Sam S.

Yelp
Friendly and knowledgeable bartenders. There were so many options available on tap here. I'm not a huge fan of the taste of most beers but the Watercolors drink I ordered here was so fruity and sour and delicious.

Smita M.

Yelp
I loved the feel and warmth of this place. The varieties of craft beer they offer, the staff that is warm and kind, and the overall ambiance of the place was just so good. Loved being there, chatting with my friend while drinking beer and nibbling on pizza !

Dan B.

Yelp
Really cozy craft beer bar with an excellent selection of local beers. So sad to hear that this original location is closing but I can't wait to visit the new place that is supposed to be much larger!

Sanket K.

Yelp
I can't say I'm a frequent visitor since I only discovered this place after I left NYC 10 years ago, but every time I'm back I make it a point to go back and at least have a pint or two. The reason this is my favourite bar in NYC is because it's a little oasis in the chaos of the city. The noise melts away as you walk in. It's never noisy, the music is the right vibe at the perfect volume and I don't have to yell for my friends to hear me. Should be your go to place if you're catching up with someone after a while. Could be a fun date spot too if you are both into sampling new beers. Super knowledgeable folks behind the bar, and an ever interesting selection of mostly local beers. The pretzels always are a good accompaniment too.

Katie G.

Yelp
Have bingo every Saturday at 5. It was a blast and so were the peoples great pricing and chill atmosphere.

Jessica B.

Yelp
I joined a knitting group and the organizer chose Arts and Crafts Beer Parlor to have our knitting circle. This is such a cool spot in the Village and the service was great. Jeff is a fantastic bartender. I tried a drink and didn't care for it, so he let me change it. Also, the bathroom was very clean. We thought that they actually do arts and crafts but they have artwork (like a gallery) and they specialize in craft beer (hence the name). I've been here twice and had a good time both times. I highly recommend--it has a nice, chill atmosphere.

Yelp
Cool spot steps away from Washington Square Park. Got here with a friend on a Friday evening around 10p and got the only two seats at the bar. Their selection of beers is impressive... well worth a visit, if you're in the mood. Service is a tad pretentious but professional nonetheless. I got the Delirium Tremens, which I loved. Smooth, refreshing, yet strong... a great choice for an after dinner drink. My friend got the Hudson Valley Peach Silohuette, which was a bit too bitter for me, but he loved it. The place can be loud, but if you're lucky to snatch the tiny sofa to the right of the retrace, you'll have some space "to yourself". I'd definitely go back and try different options. Recommended.

Cindy C.

Yelp
Review is based on my first visit - which was yesterday. Their outdoor seating is spartan but fine for some late afternoon drinking. Went with an out of town friend who's big into beers and she was glad to try new things. I was glad they had happy hour specials on a Sunday! We didn't try the food but the pretzel did look good. Would go again if/when in a beer mood

Yelp
Visited Arts And Crafts Beer Parlor for a Tuesday happy hour. While this is bar is clearly made for Columbia students, the unique vibe and excellent beer list shouldn't prevent others from visiting. Quality: Gathered for a happy hour at Arts And Crafts Beer Parlor. I had not spent much time in this area of NYC, and this bar was suggested by a member of my group. It is very much a college bar, and if feels it inside. Not in a cheap beers and shots way, but in an intellectual conversations and group project way. I was impressed with the twenty-five beers on tap, ranging from local and popular to exotic and unique options. I didn't order any food, but it looked like decent fare for a beer bar. Quantity: Standard pours, with clear marks if the draft came as a smaller size. Value: $7-$12 for Draft Beers. Ambiance: Arts And Crafts Beer Parlor is located in Morningside Heights, just a block from Columbia's main campus. The bar has a heated tent out front as well as a few tables in the elements. The inside area requires going downstairs into a warm and dark basement. A long bar is at the center, with tables spread throughout the space. The long beer menus hang from the walls and the music is relatively quiet to allow conversations among the different groups. Crowd: Steps from Columbia's campus, this bar is a huge draw for students after class. Multiple big groups gathered throughout the bar, and it was impossible to grab a table, even on Tuesday. Service: They had a bunch of bartenders, which seemed necessary for a college bar that is always busy. Parking: Limited street parking in the direct area.

Yelp
Arts&Crafts Beer Parlor Greenwich Village (Downtown) location as well as Arts&Crafts Morningside Heights (Uptown) location are literally two of only a handful of best craft beer bars in all of New York City. If you enjoy really crafty craft beers or just want to explore what Amazing beer is out there, this place is definitely for you!! With that said, they still have wine, and light lagers and pilsners for people who don't.

Nandita K.

Yelp
Stopped by for a couple of beers after an evening out and this was a great spot for it! The place is laid back, has delicious beer and good food and no one rushes you. We ended up staying till the place closed and had the best time! Got the pigs in a blanket and pizza- the food was tasty and hit the spot. The place is effortless...definitely coming back again!

Sloan M.

Yelp
Great selection of beer on tap. Friendly bar tenders. Chill vibe. Not too crowded - but it should be!

Juan Q.

Yelp
Great place to comfortably hang out with friends for beers and banter. Plenty of room, not too loud, and an extensive rotating beer selection. The bartenders are knowledgeable and will find a beer for you even if you're not a "beer person". I credit Arts and Crafts for starting the saison craze in my friend group. They also have yummy pretzels

Jessica W.

Yelp
Love Arts and Crafts!!!! Kind of devastating they are taking a break for a bit. I'm sure with numbers rising and only outdoor dining it's been challenging for them. They do have an amazing pretzel with beet cheese, Even if I didn't have to order food I would still Order it. They have a really great selection of beer. From porter and stouts to sours. They have something for everyone. I'm not a huge beer person but I can always find something I like there. The bartenders are so nice and knowledgeable and will really guide you towards something they think will Appeal to your palate. When they open come support this place, we need to keep them around!

Yelp
This is one of the good beer parlor close to Washington Square park and McDougall street. They have an awesome list of craft beers which they update regularly featuring a lot of beers especially from the neighboring areas. The ambience of the location is great, they have ample seating and the spot is ideal for an evening hangout with a group of friends. One can be seated on the long bar counter or sit at the long wooden tables behind the counter. The service was very friendly, they suggested me some real good beers to try and were patient in explaining which one I should pick. FYI, the beer parlor is kinda at the basement and you may miss the sign. Do keep an eye for the sign just below your eye level so as to not miss it while walking. They also offer food but it's mostly frozen pizza or pretzels heated from the oven and served, I would rather suggest you to have some food from outside or just have some fries to pair with your beer. Summary: The beer parlor is definitely worth trying for their choice of beers and good service.

Jillian G.

Yelp
Came for drinks during Halloween - We couldn't find this place at first because it's below street level next to Amelie. They have a great selection of beers by number. I recommend the #2 (dark beer... almost like a dark chocolate) and #8 (light and citrusy - grapefruit tones). There's only one bathroom and the inside rather small with one large table in the back and a couch with chairs up front.

Cyrus A.

Yelp
Arts and Crafts has a great beer selection and good prices, but what really sells me on this place is the staff. All the bartenders are knowledgeable, friendly, and very on top of service, even when the place is packed. I also like the parlor setup, plenty of comfortable seats and lots of space at the bar. Major bonus points for having a FANTASTIC bathroom - even though there's only one for the entire bar, it's well worth the wait, which is never worse than three people, even at the busiest times. Clean, well-maintained, soft lighting...you'll feel like you're doing your business in a museum, not a bar. Come for the beer, stay for the bathroom.

Yelp
Gosh, I really love this place, I don't live in NYC but have had the opportunity to visit a few times the past 6 months. On one of our visits this past September, my husband and I stumbled upon Arts and Crafts Beer Parlor and had a wonderful time. We had another chance to drink and hang at Arts and Crafts last Sunday and it was just as lovely the second time around. I wish we had a place just like it in DC. Both of our visits were on Sundays when their happy hour special is all day. There is a large chalkboard above the bar that has all of the beers available listed and numbered. A few of the beer options are circled and those circled are included in the happy hour special. Those circled are $5 and last time we visited there were 5 happy hour options to choose from. The first time we visited, we sat at the bar and the bartenders were very knowledgeable about the beer options as well as very friendly to chat to. I mentioned that my phone was dying and the bartender let me borrow a handy battery powered charger which was helpful and kind. The second time we visited, we tried to go to The Uncommons to play games but it was packed so we bought a game there and went to Arts and Crafts to drink and play. It worked out perfectly. We were able to snag the large table in the back and took part in the all day Sunday happy hour again. We also got the pie and beer happy hour special where you can get a beer and a pie for $10. I got the shepherds pie and it was delicious. I will say, the pie was a little cold in the middle as though it was previously frozen, but it was still really good so what the hell. I am sure they would have fixed it had I asked. Next time we visit New York we will be sure to make a stop at Arts and Crafts. It is the perfect Sunday spot.

Yelp
Pretty stellar spot for suds in Greenwich Village. My friends and I walked in later in the afternoon and scored the only available table. We easily ordered from their list of 24 drafts and I ended up with a fun cider (re: tasted just like plain apple juice!) from a cidery in Boston I had never heard of before! I rarely order cider, but this was a great choice. You'll find some tables and a regular-sized bar. Most of the drafts were by recognized breweries across the country, and I'm sure I would've had a second round if we weren't in a time crunch. One interesting thing here: the bathroom is in the front, by the door. I wouldn't have expected that.

Charles X.

Yelp
Found this place off yelp and wanted to check it out with a friend of mine who also loves beer. Would recommend to anyone who loves beer. Overall, great place to go to if you want to drink some beer and enjoy good company. Also a good date night spot if you both love beer. They have a variety of different beers that I've never heard of. So if you're sick of drinking the classic Stella Artois and Blue Moons then this is the place to go!

Marc B.

Yelp
It's a craft beer bar so there are only a few things that need to be done well: 1 Selection - Terrific! 24 on tap that go well beyond the typical IPA phenomenon to saison, ciders, and sours; 2 Knowledge - Great here too. Beer tenders can advise with a bit a description of what you like - hoppy? Funky? Sour? Barrel aged? Check! 3 Attitude - Super friendly. Absolutely no craft beertude here. Tenders are knowledgeable, competent, and friendly, no matter what you like. You want a barrel aged, rye sour with Brett? No problem. Shiner Bock? Coming right up! Even the atmosphere is nice. Not pretentious and not sterile. Warm, well lit, and comfy. Only problem is I live on the west coast...

John T.

Yelp
Always, always, always good. Great people behind the bar, delicious beers and near easy transportation.

Misha T.

Yelp
A solid bar which, despite being essentially an english basement does not feel dank and dark. Nothing wrong with dank/dark bars, but it's impressive they've managed to fight that while being mostly underground. Good beer selection and even better selection of 90s alt rock on the speakers.

Edward G.

Yelp
With bartenders in baseball caps and one guest in a cowboy crown, the place almost instantly reminded me of Denver's Cap Hill and it's many taverns. That, of course, is a compliment. A focus on beer and conversation and none on pretense make this bar a standout. The dark wood bar, dark wood floors, and dark wood walls give it a cabin feel. The pumpkin art provided seasonal and singular color. We had a 1/4 flight that included six selections, each a 7 oz pour for a great price. We chose five local beers from unknown breweries with Astoria, Brooklyn, and less heralded NY towns represented. Nothing knocked my socks off and I started to wonder if brewers are just starting to repeat themselves. Still, with post-season baseball on the TV, NYU students meeting friends, and relaxing office workers filling the place, I look forward to being back.

Mel T.

Yelp
Basic bar with highly priced beers and no happy hour specials. It's ok but wouldn't recommend it.

Joseph T.

Yelp
Arts and crafts has an outstanding beer selection. All the beers are craft and there are some local options as well from breweries such as Grimm, Barrier, and Gun Hill. The variety was quite good with sours, stouts, and IPAs available amongst other styles. The crowd was a joyous bunch. We sat a communal table with some very friendly New Yorkers. Everyone was polite and respectful. There was only one restroom but it was quite spacious. They also served some fingers foods alongside their awesome beers. All in all, this is one of the best spots to grab a drink in Manhattan.

Robin T.

Yelp
Small spot by Washington Square Park that's cozy for meeting up with a buddy, but not necessarily good for groups. If you love beer, then this might be the spot for you! They have a lot of beer on tap, and some cans, but no hard liquor which can deter those who prefer libations other than beer. I tried a cider on the menu and it was not pleasant at all. I'm used to sweeter ciders that taste like, ya know, apples. But I didn't taste much apple, just bitterness. The pizza was OK but not something I would order again but the pretzels were pretty good and saved the evening for me.

Tori Z.

Yelp
Conveniently located next to Washington Square Park, this is the perfect spot for a quick drink of beer, cider, or wine. They have a wide selection of craft brews and good HH options. The inside is small and cozy, but well air conditioned. The walls are lined with mountain photos, surprisingly there are no arts or crafts.

David L.

Yelp
If you are looking for good music, great selection of beers and hands down the best pretzel and beer-cheese sauce come here. Still blown away by how good my pretzel was and went perfectly with the founders nitro I paired it with. I am not even a fan of pretzels but that was hen and this is now. Had to talk myself out of ordering two more. My Rating Scale 5 Stars - Would go back weekly 4 stars - Would go back monthly 3 stars - Only going back if friends wanted to go 2 stars - Will not go back at all 1 star - Will probably go out of business soon

Kara L.

Yelp
This is a great hidden gem in the village! They have a lot of great beer options, with a happy hour until 7 p.m. I came with two friends and we split the pretzel, which was very fluffy and warm - perfect for the chilly night outside! It's loud inside and has a chill vibe - great for weeknight drinks. It was crowded when we walked in at 6, but we were able to find a table after waiting a few minutes.

Kelsey B.

Yelp
Came here based on a recommendation for great craft beers in the city and it did not disappoint! Have been here twice so far and both times there was a new and exciting draft/bottle list to choose from. This is a small bar located in a basement area of the village. Just a few seats at the bar and some small other tables as well as a little bench outside to enjoy beers on a nice day/people watch. Beer lovers here can find a unique selection hard to find in the city. The prices are a bit high though - expect to pay about $8-$10 for a beer (12oz), or there is a an option to mix and match some sampler flights. The bar doesn't offer proper food, but the first time I came here I got a vegan pot pie and it was pretty amazing (they make everything out of a little oven in the corner, so expect more snacks/small plates). An awesome place worth checking out in the area with a relaxed environment, friendly service and great selection.

Hadley H.

Yelp
Great chill beer bar in an awesome location. They have a great selection of local beers and are always having something new. The staff is nice, the beer is moderately price (and delicious), and the atmosphere is chill and relaxing. I came and played some games with friends on a Saturday afternoon we had a great time.

Daniel D.

Yelp
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Awesome bar that has a great happy hour. Was pleasantly surprised to see some really quality brews available at happy hour - often you'll find bars do a bait and switch and get you in for happy hour only to serve you low quality goods. Would go again.

Abul R.

Yelp
Updating my review to represent the fact that I cannot speak for their tap lines not being clean and I will respect management's response, seeing as that's a pretty serious accusation. But I can say when a Pilsener tastes like wet sock either there's an issue with the beer or the bartender poured the wrong thing. I will give them another shot. I will stand by the fact that AC is wayyyy too cold. It's not my first time at a bar. Thanks

Michal L.

Yelp
This was a cool place to check out the craft beer scene in NYC. There didn't seem to be a lot of craft beer places around but this hit the spot. Good east coast beer on tap including Hill Farmstead. The place is a little small and almost every seat was taken on the Sunday afternoon I visited. The bartender was a nice guy. It looked like they had snacks but I did not order any.

Diane Y.

Yelp
Solid beer bar with a wide variety of tap options. The homemade snack mix is impressively good. I liked how unpretentious this place is. This is a small place and gets crowded quickly, so not really ideal for groups. I came here for a drink with a friend and felt lucky to find a seat. The bartenders are really nice and helpful. The beer was also A+. The decor was West Village trying to be Brooklyn, but still charming in its own way. Overall, would certainly come back.

Divya R.

Yelp
Cute little underground bar! Happy hour selection and prices were incredible even though we were there at 9pm. The whole place is decorated for halloween which created a nice ambience and it was a great place to catch up with a friend as the music wasn't too loud. (Also, I definitely need their playlist because they were playing great music as well!!)

Edward W.

Yelp
Looking for a chill, low-key beer place? This place has over 20 beers on tap, and you can customize your own flight from any of them. There are some stipulations such as certain beers will have a smaller pour depending on the price. Basic flight starts at 0.5L per pour and comes with 6 of them. However, if you want to go crazy you can order the 20 beer flight which is one of each on tap.

Lin W.

Yelp
It's my favorite beer bar in west village. The bartender and the atmosphere make you feel like at home. They offer different flights from 6 glasses to 24 glasses. It's so fun to enjoy all these flights with friends. If you happen to in the area, definitely check it out.

Corey R.

Yelp
Nice selection of beers. We stopped in here on a Friday afternoon. They had a nice selection of local beers and some others. It was nice and quiet at the time. Worth a stop if you are looking for something else

John S.

Yelp
Nice little bar near Washington Square with a small and boisterous setting. The draft beer selection is impressive, but the single bathroom and college-aged crowd means you'll be making FB friends while waiting in line to pay your beer rent. Also, if you're looking for an intimate setting, bring your Bose noise-canceling headphones, because the din of the fervent crowd is louder than Shanghai on Chinese New Year. So all-in-all a tepid experience given the high decibel level and single bathroom sitch will test your patience and stretch your bladder.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
This ain't no Michael's or AC Moore. Arts & Crafts is for anyone who loves a rare find, ice-cold craft brew. And with 24 drafts on constant rotation, you'll never try the same thing twice. Happy hour selection is a bit disappointing. But that's besides the point - you're not here for $3 PBRs. You're here for quality, hand-picked artisan beers. So why not try a little of everything? One word: flights. $24 for 6 $45 for 12 $60 for 18 $75 to try all 24 (power hour, anyone?) You'll notice a good chunk of the menu consists of beers that are "coming soon." These are the beers that will be up next on tap. And speaking of the menu, their food menu is so small you might miss it after perusing through page after page of beer. They offer little snacks that don't need a full kitchen for preparation. Ei: hot dogs, meatballs, hummus platter, sloppy Joe's. Considering I'm a vegetarian, I was expecting my options to be slim to none. Thankfully I was wrong. Veggie dog in a pretzel bun? Yes please! It was yummy and filling. Kudos for having a substantial meat-free snack! Atmosphere reminds me of the "game room" in a mansion because it's got a traditional and masculine feel. But this place is no mansion - other than the long bar, there's only a handful of tables. One small TV stays hidden unless there's a big game on. It's cozy. TL;DR: If you love craft beer, this is your place.
