Visited Arts And Crafts Beer Parlor for a Tuesday happy hour. While this is bar is clearly made for Columbia students, the unique vibe and excellent beer list shouldn't prevent others from visiting.
Quality: Gathered for a happy hour at Arts And Crafts Beer Parlor. I had not spent much time in this area of NYC, and this bar was suggested by a member of my group. It is very much a college bar, and if feels it inside. Not in a cheap beers and shots way, but in an intellectual conversations and group project way. I was impressed with the twenty-five beers on tap, ranging from local and popular to exotic and unique options. I didn't order any food, but it looked like decent fare for a beer bar.
Quantity: Standard pours, with clear marks if the draft came as a smaller size.
Value: $7-$12 for Draft Beers.
Ambiance: Arts And Crafts Beer Parlor is located in Morningside Heights, just a block from Columbia's main campus. The bar has a heated tent out front as well as a few tables in the elements. The inside area requires going downstairs into a warm and dark basement. A long bar is at the center, with tables spread throughout the space. The long beer menus hang from the walls and the music is relatively quiet to allow conversations among the different groups.
Crowd: Steps from Columbia's campus, this bar is a huge draw for students after class. Multiple big groups gathered throughout the bar, and it was impossible to grab a table, even on Tuesday.
Service: They had a bunch of bartenders, which seemed necessary for a college bar that is always busy.
Parking: Limited street parking in the direct area.
