Art's Place

Been here twice now and both times my burger was super good! I got the special burger both times, so they’re not menu regulars, but my friend who tried a regular burger said hers was good too. Also the fries are seasoned which can be hard to find in the outer banks lol. The place is pretty small, so I recommend sitting outside or getting it to go.

The burgers here are amazing!! The fries are delicious! It was our first time here, and it will definitely be going on my repeat list.

The food was so good! The hand cut fries were perfectly cooked! The prime rib sandwich and burger were excellent! We sat outside and the weather was nice with a slight breeze. The two waitresses were very kind and attentive! Great food and service! We like sitting outside so we enjoyed it! The inside seating is limited but nice too.

Wonderful atmosphere, great food. Open mic nights on Wednesday nights is a nice touch. Great outdoor patio offering a nice view of the oceanfront and surrounding area. Highly recommended. Food services are generally quick and the staff is fairly friendly. Art's place is good for couples and families too. An ok amount of parking is offered although it could be tight during busy times. In addition, Arts has a decent variety of comfort food that you can find at many places.

This was our second time at Art’s and we’ll continue coming back. The staff are always super friendly and the food always hits the spot. They had a sweet potato pancake special and it was to die for.

1st time visit after Thanksgiving. Charlotte was our waitress and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting her and learning the history of Arts Place. Food was delicious! Seasonal drinks were fun! Great atmosphere! Made us feel right at home! Love this time of year without the crowds we can sit and chat with the wonderful locals! Thank you!

Great food, fun vibe. We got the biscuits and gravy and it was delicious. Every egg I saw come off the griddle was perfect looking so I also got eggs and toast and both were perfection.

Food was delicious, was recommend to eat at this place by a friend and it was great, service was eh every interaction I had with the staff wasn’t the greatest. we had other customers asking if we were leaving just hovering around our tabling waiting for us to leaving watching us as we ate our meal. If you would like to go here wait until after Wednesday because they have an open mic on Wednesday and the singing was terrible they just let any one on the stage and we had to wait 30+ min to be seated.

We got a bunch of burgers from Art's Place, and they were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. Great service too. Thank you to whoever cooked those delicious burgers.

Love Art's! It's our regular Friday night place when we arrive at the beach. As oldies, we don't frequent the Sway Bar upstairs, but it sounds like a good time! We go for the burgers, beer, and great staff. Onion rings are pretty special too! I hesitate to bring them any more business - we already wait for a seat!!

If you have issues not having your way , leave! This place does things their way.! Breakfast ends at 10:45 ! Lunch starts at 11:30! Very small kitchen! 100 percent attitude and local! I don't care what you think! ! The food is ok! I found it to be good but not great ! We had to sit at the bar! The other table was used for I guess staff children! Limited seating! It has a bar scene! The hamburgers appeared to be made by hand! The over cook every burger! It was nice to see everything made in front of you! I found a little bit of bone in my burger! It was little dry. They put some type of liquid with very little salt on the burger! My wife's burger tasted different ! It had more flavor! Fries were excellent! We got ranch ! The place movers very metered! It's very friendly!the egg on the burger was fine! It's a very salty local place! I didn't like closing the kitchen at 10:45 and being made to sit at the bar on high top chairs! I thought the hamburger was large but my flavor was bland and not cooked to medium as indicated! My wife loved her burger! I think this is not a tourist place and I would probably not return! I did very much enjoy my experience!

I stopped by this morning for an egg cheese and bacon sandwich to go I waited over an hour I know it's tourist season but damn over an hour for a breakfast sandwich and I know you have the best food the food is just so delicious but over an hour for a breakfast sandwich WTF

Pretty cool place that gets crowded quickly! Service is a bit slow when crowded. So expect a wait for seating and food. Definitely check out the front deck... it has a slight ocean view. They have outdoor seating on the sides and a backyard area. We went on a Sunday and they had live performances which was pretty cool. The food is good. We tried the standard burger which was good. We also tried their 5 alarm burger, which had spicy mustard and jalapeños. It was tasty and not spicy hot. So if you like jalapeño flavors, it's worth a shot. Also, try their sweet potato fries which I think is better than the regular fries.

Stumbled in here by accident. Great drinks, wonderful friendly servers, and outside seating. Very "chill." Great chili cheese dog. Big enough for 2 people. Great find.

Service was fantastic! The employees were welcoming and easy-going with our medium group of 7. We arrived right before the dinner rush around 4p and got to sit inside. There is a lot of outdoor seating as well! It is kid friendly and the atmosphere is very beachy-chill. Parking is pretty good depending on the time you arrive but they do have a small parking lot on site. We started with drinks and chips & mango salsa. The server was very kind and asked if we wanted to place the kids order with the appetizer but we decided to wait. The salsa was fresh and had a slight kick to it but it was delicious and refreshing after a long day at the beach. The chips were thick and crispy and perfect for dipping. I was about to order the Five Alarm Burger (Pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, jalapenos & spicy mustard) but at the last second we realized there was a specials menu (only one paper menu on the table) and thankfully my sister saw the Chupacabra burger special! The burgers come with natural cut fries and the patties are huge! They were cooked perfectly and the portions were more than enough to fill your belly. The great thing about the burgers - besides the taste - is that the buns are thinner so you don't feel super heavy after eating THE WHOLE THING plus fries My husband got the Swiss Mushroom on Rye and said it was good but that the Chupacabra was definitely better. The goat cheese and house made red onion jam were such a great pair.

Sat at the back by the bar. Sun wasn't fun but the service was great and the burgers were too. Would recommend

People are so very friendly at Art's. The coffee is excellent (hot, tasty and plentiful). We had sausage gravy and biscuits. The sausage gravy was tasty and the biscuit was flaky and huge. They split the biscuit and grill it. My husband had scrambled eggs, sausage, hashbrowns and a biscuit. The sausage has a nice kick to it. Art's is a fun place to eat. It is small and cozy. It is always busy but the service is fast.

Just love this place!!! I knew Art and his business partner Bill, when they owned the place 30 years ago and it is as good now as it was then. I highly recommend this fine establishment as a casual place to grab a drink or a quick bite that is fun and laid back with a definite beach vibe!!

Best Burgers in the OBX! We love Art's Place. It is a local favorite. The food is always consistent, hot, the fries are amazing, and the Burgers are the best in the OBX. Today, I had the pimento cheese & jalapeño and it was fantastic!

Very cool place for breakfast. Service was great. The food was very flavorful. The pancakes were huge! I mean huge. That's why I did this review really. I wanted everyone to see how big the pancakes were.

Quirky little place with good breakfast. Worth a stop. Coffee was plentiful, pancakes were dinner plate sized- wow!

A must on any OBX visits! Just the best burgers and fries. We have made this our first stop coming in and night stops, either way the best!

Delicious local spot for breakfast! Stopped in with a party of 2 and had a 20 minute wait and then we were seated at the counter. Fast service and the food was delicious! Husband enjoyed the sausage gravy and I loved the breakfast wrap (basically a breakfast burrito!) Lots of great veggies in the wrap. I added a side of extra crispy hash browns and they were yummy as well. The pancake is plate sized and has great flavor. Coffee was good too! Highly recommend grabbing breakfast here if you can. Just a heads up that there are only four tables inside and the counter. We came on a rainy day and don't know if they serve outside on the picnic tables.

We stopped at Art's Place across from the beach last week for lunch. Kinda looks a little whacky on the outside, but it was very casual and inviting on the inside. The food is where this place shines though. Sorta an open kitchen concept so you got to see the cooks working hard and putting out food fast. We had to wait a few minutes for a table but it was worth it. Wait staff was attentive and busy, but handled it with ease. Plenty of parking in the lot on the side and around back. They have live music outback too, and also allow pets outside I believe. For lunch we had the fries which were seasoned well, kinda peppery. I had the prime rib sandwich with some au jus. It was pretty mouth wateringly delicious and the bread was so fresh. I needed a fork though as some of the meat slipped away from me. I'd definitely return.

Ambiance is a funky little beach place with friendly staff. The food was amazing. Highly recommend the Baja Burger and local Swell'a brewery beer.

I love this place. Mo matter what time! Best breakfast, Burgers, fried green tomatoes on the beach. No TBHQ in their frying oil. Dog friendly out back and on the porch. Music every night. Open mike night on Wednesdays, visitors even join in.

We got seated quickly and servers were nice. The appetizers plates were a bit dirty so we had to send them back for new plates. The burger came out a bit cold and the cheese didnt even melt. They did give lots of fries though.

Like this place needs more amazing reviews, but wow. Fun staff. Fun customers. Amazing burgers and fries. Cold beer. Great roadtrip from the Washington area. Can't wait to come back!!

My favorite place in this area. It's a local hangout where tourists might feel a little out of place... and that's good. Large portions. Everything cooked in view. Great prices. Always busy.

Dan and his crew don't miss a beat. Food is brutally tasty especially the burgers. Service is great and the ambiance is phenomenal. Being off season there are no issues getting in. Spring and summer, hit or miss. The thing is to be patient, you get a pager and will be seated before the wait time.

Juicy cheese burger! 1/2 pounder what juicy and made medium so good! No seeds on the bun. Fries were hand cut as the soak them in a bucket of water. Space is snaked so we sat bar area and drooled over them making other yummy items, like a Reuben. Will definitely come back!

We were lucky and only had a 5 min wait, but it's a small place so if you're going during peak hours, expect to wait. Inside was very cold today so next time I would probably sit outside if it's not too hot. Server never really checked on us to refill water or if we needed anything which was a bummer. Owner (manager?) was super friendly and attentive. You can tell they have regulars. Food was great! I would definitely return.

Food was good as always. Were sat in the back area with the a live band. Was loud but it was understandable. Service was the worst. We've had in the years and years that we've been going. Once the waitress took our order she didn't come back to the our table until I went up to get her to ask for the bill and a box. Some else brought the food out, didn't get any refills, asked everything came out all right.... Nothing. I left a cash tip but sure didn't want to. Even went to the truck to get something to drink.

We went to the Sway Bar on top of the restaurant and just ordered drinks. I got a basil gimlet from the specials menu and my husband got a beer. Mine was delish but the beer was barely cold. It brought him back to his college days when nobody cared that beer was served warm. Ewww! All of that takes a back seat to the view. Amazing!! We would highly recommend coming for that reason alone.

Stopped at this renowned tiny beach place for a dinner in the OBX. 4 small tables and a 6 seater bar...Needed a break from seafood, so we went for burgers... holy cow what a great choice! Food was awesome, service was friendly and fast. Loads of character and fun! Worth a wait, which is inevitable in such a small spot. Don't miss it!

Got the bacon egg and cheese on a biscuit, the biscuit was extremely dry. And fell apart the second I picked the sandwich up, sweet tea was delicious. Place is super small and crammed. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated.

Good small local joint. If it is busy expect it to be slow because the kitchen is tiny; be patient and you'll be fine. Don't expect a gourmet meal; the food is basic but very good. They do have great cocktails.

The burgers are GREAT! We had the Juicy Luci, the Baja Burger and a grilled cheese with bacon. All of them were outstanding and highly recommended.

Excellent food! We got the biscuits and gravy and French toast! No frills breakfast joint. It was raining so we had a long wait but it was definitely well worth it!

We've been coming to OBX on vacation for 25+ years and stumbled upon Art's Place our last day here this year. So glad we did. Our breakfast was delicious and the service friendly. We'll be back.

Both food and service are awesome ! We are on vacation and stopped here with our little pup and enjoyed it so much.

Top of the resturant is called "sway bar" because it actually sways in the wind, a lil rustic but fantastic views, good casual food, and totally relaxed. Highly recommend!

Our favorite breakfast spot in Kitty Hawk/KDH. Always great service and something for all on the menu. Biscuits & gravy, and omelettes are go to for breakfast.

When I say don't eat here, I mean it. Our server Jen D was absolutely ATROCIOUS, we sat for probably 15 minutes or so before she approached us, once we got our drinks and order out it was as if we didn't even exsist. We could also overhear several tables around us making the same comments as us about the service(mind you there is a whole 4 tables inside of this restaurant). We had to stop her to grab our 1 refill of the night, one of our burgers ended up coming out completely wrong she brought it back to the kitchen and asked them to "turn this into the right one" (which included them scraping off the old toppings and cheese and adding barely any of the correct ingredients to the already woefully overcooked burger. Highly highly disappointed given this was our second visit here after a couple of years and to see it in this much disarray is utterly unacceptable. Honestly do better.

Cozy spot for good food, friendly staff and making memories. Art's place has a nice ambiance for vacationers who want to sit, breathe and rest. You need to try it

They are awesome! The staff is wonderful! I dig the vibe there. I love their cheesy grits! I've only had their breakfasts on several occasions. Someday I'll make for lunch or later....

Best Breakfast in Kitty Hawk. Pancakes bigger than the plate. Western omelet was delicious and the potatoes are on point. French toast and fresh fruit was a hit. Thanks

We arrived at 11am and they told us it would be a 45 minute wait, well we ended up waited 2 hours for a table. They were very slow with bringing drinks and food out. A lot of our order was wrong and our server said the kitchen staff was changing over shifts and didn't clear other tickets. We ended up getting charged extra and had to wait for the server to change our ticket. Just a very frustrating experience and not how we wanted to start our vacation!

We went to Art's for breakfast and had an awesome experience! My husband and I each had the Monte Cristo served with a side of fresh fruit and coffee. The kids split a serving of pancakes with a side of generous bacon and sausage. Everything was perfect. You could swear the pancakes, sausage patty and bacon were made by your grandma. The Monte Cristo was on par with any high end restaurant's Monte Cristo. They just have breakfast figured out. As a side note, they carry sugar free syrup if you need it. The decor is very eclectic with a small town diner feel on the inside, embracing their obvious love of music and the sea by way of photos and posters with hand written notes on many. There are about 4 tables capable of seating 4 guests each inside as well as bar seating across from the cooking station. The outside is ocean themed with sea murals on the side of the building and a fake pirate climbing a rope at the back entrance. Seating outside consists of colorful picnic tables. The wind and insects seem well managed at the outside seating, which has been a minor issue at other restaurants nearby, so don't be discouraged to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Lastly every person on staff was absolutely wonderful. I can't recommend this little gem strongly enough and wish we had time to come back to see the live music they have on some evenings.

Get the pimento cheese burger. It's pretty incredible. Fried green tomatoes were also tasty. Nice, fun place.

Art's Place was very busy. They offered "to-go" services, but they wouldn't pick up the phone to take the order-we had to physically go to the location, place our order, and wait. But well worth it! We ordered a Monte Cristo & an Al's Big Breakfast (pancake, two eggs, sausage gravy biscuit, and grits) Everything was absolutely delicious! (and reasonably priced) The (large & thick) Monte Cristo french toast was moist, well-flavored, with hearty pieces of meat smothered in melted cheese. The raspberry jam for the top was beyond scrumptious (I would guess homemade). The biscuit was flaky & buttery topped with a yummy bold flavored sausage gravy-that had a nice peppery profile. Eggs are eggs- well done sunnyside up. The pancake was fluffy & buttery, didn't need any syrup because it had a really great base taste. Overall, an amazing breakfast! A really good go-to-spot to recommend.

We stopped here for lunch while visiting. A very nice place. Food was very good and service was on point as well. We got a Pimento Burger and Prime Rib Sandwich. Both were excellent. Burger was very juicy and cooked to perfection. Prime rib sandwich was very good also but if I was to pick one over the other it would be the burger. We had both onion rings and fried with our sandwiches. Neither disappointed. Wish we were in the outer banks a little longer so I could have went one or two more times. If you are their Arts in a MUST.
