Artusi Soho - Review - Soho - London - The Infatuation

"Pasta and burlesque might sound like the beginnings of a particularly messy night, but that’s the offering from Artusi at Soho’s Underbelly Boulevard. Artusi has taken the formula from their beloved OG Peckham spot—seasonal Italian menu, good wine—to this central London venue. There’ll be pre-theatre set menus to fit in around shows too. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

I want there for lunch on my own on a Thursday and it was my first time in this new branch located in the heart of soho. The space is beautiful, very art deco, soft pastels, comfy seating, a piano in the corner and the possibility of hosting large groups or intimate, romantic dinners, making it perfect for indulgent lunches, day-drinking, or an illicit liaison. You can envisage naughty things can happen in here. The food is Italian with some twists, and it is very good. I had mozzarella in carrozza, a typical Neapolitan disc that is also very popular in Rome and in southern Italy in general. This came with a sauce on a side, a delicious tomato sauce, leading to the unavoidable dipping of the mozzarella in it. A genius idea, In line with the Italian tradition of “scarpetta”( the dipping of bread in any pasta sauce left in a plate) . After this delicious starting point, there was the magatello with Gorgonzola and walnuts, another great starter. As a main I had the gnocchi with venison ragu’, very nice but not as good as the starters, perhaps the success not seasoned enough, but it was still a nice dish. As it was daytime I had water and 1 glass of Picpoul to accompany my meal. I ended on a high, with a divine tiramisu, probably the best I have tasted in a very, very long time. The portion was gigantic and it was fluffy and light with the perfect combination of coffee, mascarpone and chocolate. The girl that welcomed me and served me throughout was a very smiley, caring, warm, professional human being from Vancouver, and she really is an asset. Her service is great, and her timing was incredible, I am ashamed that I do not recall her name but I hope the management takes notice of how good she is. All in all, a fantastic place where to go for whatever the occasion. I would recommend to always book. They have space for walk ins, but, especially if you go for dinner, it is better to do that to avoid disappointment. Enjoy !

we had a wonderful dinner at Artusi Soho. we had a variety of starters and pasta dishes from the a la carte and pre theatre menu. everyone in our group was very happy with their choices. I had home made ricotta as starter, and caserecce pasta as main. their complimentary sourdough bread with butter was great too. with a drink/cocktail each, we paid ~40£ each (very reasonably priced considering the quality of the food and Soho location). excellent service and very good vibe, would highly recommend

Absolutely would recommend. Food was amazing and will definitely try to find a way to come back again. A hidden gem! Service was fantastic - spent long time chatting about Norway and throughly enjoyed the company. If you haven't tried you should. We booked the theatre which was also amazing seeing Stephen Frayne (so close up and personal was a real treat and unrivalled in any other location) and a meal beforehand at great rates. So glad we didn't go anywhere else for lunch, better quality, service and lovely atmosphere

Sunday lunchtime and we had the 3 course set menu. The originality, taste and quality of all three courses were superb. My wife and I both had the Crispy Polenta, N'Duja and Parmesan for starters, followed by the Salt Baked Celeriac, Spinach and Oyster Mushrooms. Very friendly and professional service from all the staff added up to a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. An unexpected surprise was the excellent piano playing which made the whole occasion even more enjoyable. We will definitely return.

This place will not be open in a year as it operates today. Brightly lit, two tone pink with heavy air conditioning and a gathering of at least 50-50 young women to go to some show. The diners were an afterthoughtt. Erratic service, first semi welcoming, then announced we had one hour to eat. What? My booking said two hours. Then along comes a third person saying “well, you can have until 7 pm”. So stressful and confusing. We very much enjoyed the starter of Courbet’s, mint and ricotta. Delicious. The spaghetti and meatballs was average, we brought it home to be polite but will not eat it. We live in the heart of Soho and great food is everywhere! Really give this place either time to sort out their bizarre set up or all the way avoid it.

Situated in the Underbelly theatre you walk up the stairs ( lift also available) to be greeted by smiling staff . It was just open and so plenty of tables to choose from - we had booked as we were also staying to see Steven Frayne. I chose a gin cocktail whilst hubby had a Hendricks with tonic. Service was excellent with warm bread and butter sent out immediately whilst we chose our food. I had paid for the set menu but asked about the lunch menu and was able to swop. Off the set menu hubby had the sea bass with chicken peas followed by the muscarpone sorbet. I had the arancini followed by spaghetti with prawns in a bisque sauce . Food was delicious and reasonably priced . Our costs went up because of the alcohol consumed- few more gins a port etc We were not rushed and the atmosphere was lovely so no I do not think as was reviewer put it they will be closing soon . The show was fabulous with Steven Frayne staying behind to have pictures taken and even this was organised well . Would recommend eating here

We recently went here for a birthday dinner. The restaurant is in a good location and has a good atmosphere. I had high hopes for the food because I have been to Marcella and think the food there is delicious. The ingredients at Artusi feel fresh, however, the gnocchi I had was very bland and disappointing. The pasta was mushy (like mashed potato) and the arguably lacked flavour. We ordered the gelato for dessert and it tasted like mildly milky ice. The wine was good and the cocktails are ok. All the toilets were out of service and the service was a bit inconsistent. Worth trying but we won’t be returning in a hurry.

I hosted a large group for my birthday dinner here and had a wonderful evening. They served a great variety of dishes and were very accommodating of my guests dietaries. The staff was very attentive and helpful.
