ARU Cambridge

I attended ARU in year 3 to obtain my student pass whilst studying a degree apprenticeship. This was my first time at the university. I made my way to the Icentre and was presented with a lady behind reception who had pink hair. She was incredibly rude and hostile to begin with. Appeared that any question posed was a chore for her to perform rather than wanting to assist a new student and ensure they are welcomed. I am unsure whether she was having a bad day, or stressed, however her general demeanour and behaviour made it appear I was a burden. I find it unacceptable. This was my first impression of the university campus, and I must say, I am not impressed!

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for Mr. Lewis from the International Advice team. He is an outstanding person to deal with — cooperative, approachable, and always quick to respond to inquiries. His support has been invaluable, and I truly appreciate his professionalism and dedication.

Very bad hostel service with high charges no security. Any outsider can come and sit in kitchen, talk louder, scream, no one to stop. Very poor management, no one to observe. It is like the administration is waiting for something bad to happen. Very unsafe for a female students or even for male students. Very bad place to stay and be safe. They do not even have toilets separate for boys and girls such a non civics sens place. A nightmare for students, I do not recommend anyone to opt for this place. Beds buggs everywhere no one to handle this worst than a under developed country college and hostel. #worstunsafeplacetolive

There are growing concerns about how Anglia Ruskin University is handling its academic processes. Many students have reported being failed in their assignments and dissertations despite following all academic guidelines and marking criteria. Work that seems to meet the required standards is often rejected without clear or transparent justification. Additionally, there have been repeated complaints about unprofessional behaviour from some professors — including poor communication, vague or inconsistent feedback, and a lack of proper academic support. It appears that the university is more focused on collecting tuition fees than ensuring students are treated fairly and supported in their academic journey. This has left many students under emotional stress, burdened with debt, and disheartened after investing so much time and effort. A university should be a place of fairness, growth, and integrity. Serious improvements are needed at ARU to restore trust and ensure students receive the education and respect they deserve.

If you have a dream of having a PhD degree, then this university is not the right place. Poor support from management, very less lab facilities, lethargic lab technicians who never support our research experiment. On top of that, very minimal funding allocation, 700 pounds for whole Phd study years!!!! Even a third rate country would allocate more funding for a research. Pathetic!!

I went to this university in 2011-2013. (Cambridge Campus) And it did what I needed it to. Taking my daughter around today there are new bits, but behind the veneer it's very dated, and could use a revamp, but it's never about the buildings, and always about the quality of teaching so choose courses wisely!

Fish and chip friday was good. Even had a charcoal burger on the go. Staff seem friendly but Sal and kerry were the best 👌 I do wish the student server though gave better chip portions!
