On the Grid : Manhattanville

"In a part of the world where coffee shops are usually in a 10x10 space with no room to barely stand Manhattanville is an oasis. It was built with great forethought and has luxuries such as couches and under-the-table power outlets on their massive community table. Manhattanville isn't just a great place to get some work done though, their friendly baristas whip up some amazing coffee drinks using beans from the fine folks at Intelligentsia. They'll even do a pour-over of one of their single origin roasts if you ask for it. If you're hungry too, they have a great selection of snacks, such as their baked croissant egg and cheese, to help you power through that next freelance project." - Kyle & Annie Turman

I visited this place for the first time, looking for a quiet spot to get some work done. The latte I tried was fantastic! I noticed there weren't many gluten-free options, but that's alright. Just a heads up, the Wi-Fi can get a bit spotty when it's busy, but overall, it’s a nice place to relax and work!

Almost every day of the week this place essentially becomes a coworking space. Lots of really great seating to accommodate this community need. Great matcha and I love their quiches. Also, they play the best music and it’s the perfect volume, not too loud. Love coming here to do work or read.

Best Pitashio latte! Plenty of dairy free alternatives. The staff is very welcoming and there is plenty of seeting. They have high top stools, bistro tables, a long table with bench seating and 2 couch lounge areas. I am always able to find a spot to do some work and am never bothered by excess noise. They also offer some yummy bites and treats. Best butter croissant! Definitely a neighborhood staple.

The coffee is premium, the pastries are the tastiest I've had in NYC, and the service is top notch. If I could put 100 stars, they would be well deserved here! Bravo guys, you're the best!👏👏👏👍🏻

Had been there few months ago and as a coffee fan can surely tell that they have one of the best tasting coffee in USA. Especially thanks for the barista girls❤️ they were so sweet and patient. They helped me to choose and answered all my questions. Definitely will visit again

I've frequented this coffee shop throughout the many name/management changes over the years. Came this morning and was the only person of color and happened to be the one person not greeted when it was my turn to order. Barista looked straight past me and greeted the white lady behind me in line and the other white patrons as they ordered. Navigating the new crown heights neighborhood as a person of color has been exhausting to say the least. If you're going to be in this diverse neighborhood, please do better and check your biases.

Went in had a latte to go, it was perfect. Service was I got my coffee. On my 2nd and last time, I entered and wanted a pastry. No greeting, just "closing". I get it, but we are no longer pleasant to each other. A smile or hi, sorry I am closing. Doors open and sign displayed open. Coffee is great with cold service.

The barista doesn’t really barista the espresso machine is automated but weirdly enough it was a great cortado. Maybe this machine knows how to dial in the grind or whatever it is they do to make it smooth and perfect. Went here once before a year ago and that wasn’t the case so maybe the the barista is more of a factor on the quality than the automated machine would suggest.

Yelp
Polite and congenial atmosphere. Plenty of seats to work and/or chill. Caramel Macchiato is good. Lots of pastries but they are BLAND. We had the Spinach Puffed Pastry, which is decent. The Potato Pierogi was moist but barely any flavor, wrapped inside thick dough. The Scallion & (Boiled) Egg, AGAIN, NO FLAVOR! Don't understand restaurants/food establishments afraid of properly, well seasoned food!

Yelp
Free wifi with strong connection, full menu, and lots of space to work for a while. Gets fairly busy mid-morning so if you want a place to sit, recommend coming early. They have outdoor seating when it is nice outside and they have big tables in the center for co-work or working on projects. Service is nice and the coffee is good

Yelp
I'm glad Arvaci replaced Barista and the Baker. My iced coffee is perfect, just the right ratio of oat milk to coffee, with a generous large cup, and the right kind of ice (big cubes that don't melt too quickly!). They have a large variety of pastries to choose from, like mini pies, eclairs, and cinnamon rolls. They also have savory pierogies. Service was excellent, friendly, and quick. There's also a little nook with a couch in the back if you wanted to sit there for a bit to meet with a friend or do work (they also have printing service). All in all a great place to get some coffee.

Yelp
I agree with the first review, Michelle S. It's much better than what was here before and coffee is good and guess what, the pastries are excellent. Eat the pastries and guess what, there's good music inside and the ambiance is good. And guess what else, the service is fine, the cashiers are nice and they say hello when they hand you that first coffee of the day, MMM slurp it up! Now you can get going and win
