Arzábal | Restaurante Retiro Madrid

We went there for lunch by chance without a reservation and we were lucky to find a table. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and the staff is all kind and friendly. The butter and bread they serve before your food is amazing! Russian salad was okay but we didn't like the croquetas. However, “salpicon se marisco”, “salted de arroz con trufa y setas”, and french fries were above anything we had in Madrid! About the desserts, we didn't like tarta de queso and they served the coffee long after we finished our dessert but the torrija was good.

The atmosphere and playlist are so inviting... we had a fantastic time in our 12h layover. Special thanks to our server from Morocco! She went out of her way to explain the dishes and select the best options for us. Try the cold cuts, mushroom risotto and the garlic shrimps. Outstanding! Highly recommend it!!!

Stopped in this trendy bar for a few beers before dinner and sat at the bar. Staff kind and helpful. Very nice ambiance. Good beer and lovely olives provided. Unable to comment on food as we didn’t eat here sadly.

Most of the dishes we ordered were good but our risotto was overly salty. Our server recommended an incredible red wine that was well worth the €10 per glass price tag. They play loud music later at night with a lot of people drinking in the bar area so it has a fun, energetic vibe.

First of all i have to say: All staffs were so kind and helpful and especially Alex pernando was so kind and polite when we ask something even he doesn’t understand English very well. I found out this time again , the language is no problem when someone works with a great manner with heart. Food was fantastic and so delicious Please try traditional Spanish Dessert(I forgot the name but they know)Cheese cake was not normal one it was namely the best. Very popular restaurant: so need to have a reservation. Only need to improve : Toilet. It’s not so clean and a bit uncomfortable mood for ladies.

The food was excellent. I loved the bucket of fresh butter with warm artisan bread. The burrata salad was an inspiration. So delicate but delicious. The mussels were in a surprising light curry sauce that I could have eaten like soup. Absolutely delicious!

Great ambience, very well decorated and good presentation. The big bucket of butter is amazing, but it tastes like margarine, the presentation definitely oversells it. The tagliatelle with shrimp and garlic was under seasoned, but the shrimps was very well cooked, overall the dish fell flat. The rice truffle with mushrooms was unexpectedly light and fresh with bits of celery giving it a nice crunch. Very nice well presented dish, but if you are expecting a lot of truffle taste, that is not the dish for you, for our group the light taste was welcome. Overall the restaurant is overpriced and underwhelming, but the location, ambience and decoration definitely give it an upmarket feel.

This place was one of the highlights of dining on our trip to Spain. The service was 10 out of 10. Even with the language barrier they made an excellent experience and we couldn't be happier. The food was incredible I wish I could have eaten more. The shrimp was incredible and perfectly seasoned and cooked. The pork was cooked perfectly and served with amazing accompaniments. All we tried here was amazing I highly recommend this place if your in Madrid.
