A's Burgers

Got a few delicious hamburgers and onion rings. They have delicious milkshakes and zucchini fries as well. Just what my family needed for the car trip home. We left with full tummies and decided to leave them a nice review. Thank you for serving the food so fast and fresh hot. We will for sure be coming back through here when in the area again. I can see why the locals suggest coming here for a quick bite to eat. Would recommend bringing an appetite as an order of onion rings are huge

It’s okay. You won’t be disappointed, but you also won’t be impressed. Inflation seems to be hitting these guys hard. After taxes and fees a double cheese burger with zero modifications will set you back $8.54. Sucks that just a couple years ago double cheese burgers here were $4. French Fries are Baffling $5+ for a regular order. How in the hell Can a thing of fries be as much as a double double at In-n-out?

Great value for a great product. Ordered their burger combo, which came with a single paddy sandwich, French fries, and a fountain drink. The items are made to order for freshness. The amazing part is the quantity of the fries, which was somewhat delightfully overwhelming with the amount. Also, excellent staff here implementing great customer service.

Best GIGANTIC breakfast burritos in town! Fast drive - thru and super accurate on the orders ! Try the bacon, egg , potatoes and cheese burritos for a full and delicious meal. They would be great to share, but even when you are full, you will want to eat the second half, so sharing is not going to work ! The salsa that is served on the side is perfection !! The drive-thru is older and run down, but it adds to the charm of the place and hey - it doesn't matter if menu is simple and plain if the food is on point ! The in/out logistics of this place is a little tough given the location, but it's super close to Doheny and a great spot to grab a burrito after a surf session. Enjoy !

Staff: 5 stars. Super friendly and helpful! Cheeseburger was delicious and portion was generous. Zucchini fries: loved them! Fresh, crunchy! Carne asada burrito: taste is different than any previous Carne asada that my wife and I have had (either in Texas or California). Strawberry milkshake: very good, but no bits of strawberries and quite sweet. Will come back and was a fun lunch date with my wife!

Always amazing, delicious food. I've been coming here for decades. I'm a little bummed that it is closed on Sundays, but it is still a definite go-to when the fam is in town

First time here and the food is not that great. I noticed ppl enjoying the burritos, so I ordered myself a carne Azada burrito, which has beans and cheese too. The Burrito had too much salt. The "salsa" tasted weird, like it had too much celery and it also had too much salt. The "spicy peppers" were way too salty to eat too, I was dissapointed. The burgers were filled with too much ketchup , my kids really didn't enjoy them. I gave it two stars because the food was huh, al-right and the staff was pretty friendly. Not coming back, sorry. There's Jack down the street.

Always good, very consistent! Burgers, fries, zucchini fries and ranch dressing my go to My wife is gluten free and loved the taco meal.

Great idea for lunch. We has the Mahi plate and the A's combo with onion rings and a side of zucchini. Everything was delicious. The onion rings and the zucchini were HUGE. I passed at least half of the rings to a group of surfers. The zucchini went home for later and so did half of the Mahi. Fresh brewed ice tea. Great service for fast food. Everything was piping hot. Most people seem to take out. Bench seats and picnic tables. Kitchy. It's been a long time since I've been here. I will be back.

Below average food, average service, nothing special about this place. Prices have gone up a lot, don't think I'll be going back anytime soon.

A's is always a winner with what I consider to be the best burgers in all the land! Yes, even better than In 'N Out, mostly because their burgers taste better, they are priced less and their fries, onion rings and fried zucchini are DELICIOUS. (Pro tip; you can split an order of fried items with something else like half zucchini and half onion rings and don't forget the RANCH!) The ambiance is true fast-casual where you order at the window and eat there, in your car or down the street at the Harbor. Don't worry if you don't have shoes! It's pretty original and bare feet won't get you kicked out; it's encouraged, lol! Lots of surfers stop by for an early morning burrito, too. (Their salsa is great and burritos are tasty!) Service is always fast and friendly. Another favorite is their Arnold Palmer. This is the BEST BURGER IN ALL OF CA!

When we're out here at Doheny Beach with our trailer, we make sure to always grab a bite at A's. Reasonable price and flavorful food. We really love their zucchini and patty melt. So tasty. The steak egg burrito was good but a little more steak would be nice. The salsa was really good too.

Nothing can beat their breakfast burritos and salsa! I love this place. Their burgers, onion rings and other sides are amazing as well! I also believe the Dana Point location is better than the other location off Avery! Service is always fast and can always find a spot inside.

The delicious fried zucchini with ranch and friendly service keep me coming back to A's. The vibe here is definitely casual .There are wooden picnic style tables for seats and a yellow and red menu board posted behind the register . You might even run into a surfer or two.

Gave this place another shot after a long morning surf session. This time around, the fries were crispy and cooked to perfection. The onions in the burger were definitely present.. which is good, since I love onions. I couldn't really taste the mayo.. maybe it was overpowered by the lettuce and seeped into the bun. I shall request extra Mayo next time. Service was stellar. Glad I was able to up my star rating for this place, as it seems to be pretty popular (it was pretty full inside when I arrived).

I really wanted to live this place since we visit often to camp at Doheny state park. My family and I arrive we were standing in front of the cashier waiting for someone to take or order there were 3 ladies in the front they all went about there business without saying a word as if we were invisible. Almost walked out till my husband asked if someone was going to take our order finally one responded and took our order in a very rude manner. It's so sad because we choose to go here rather than carls across the street to bring business to small businesses but they weren't pleasant at all. Unfortunately food was just as horrible as their service.

Nice burger stand from the 60s style! Cozy and fast food to your table or to go. A reliable place for family hamburger time

We went to eat after a family vacation by the beach and the food was amazing! The place is clean and simple, the service was excellent !

I just returned to work after ordering a carnitas burrito at A's burgers. I started to eat my burrito and noticed there were not any carnitas in it as a matter of fact it was all just beans cheese what look like scrambled eggs and little bit of sauce. I was hungry and didn't have the time to return to A's burgers about this so I finished the burrito It wasn't bad but it wasn't what I ordered. So I have to say I'm pretty disappointed and will probably not go back there. Excellent cheeseburgers! Good flavor and toppings. Grilled mahi mahi taco was meh. Dry and flavorless. Family loves the fried zucchini and onion rings. I was underwhelmed but will agree that they have excellent ranch dressing. Def a craving for burgers kinda joint.

The double cheeseburger with thousand island dressing is the platonic idea of a burger. No one else can do it better in Dana Point. Zucchini fries are okay, but the regular fries with some ketchup is ideal with a tasty beverage to wash it down. The chicken burger is also grilled to perfection. Too bad they are closed on Sunday to curb my chicken sandwich cravings, but I see their employees are benefiting from the downtime.

The short stack was delicious. I love the customer service, especially the nice lady that took my order. She brightened my day.

Been going here since I was a kid and it's made all the big chain burger joints down the street totally redundant. Get a burger and some zucchini fries, go park somewhere in the harbor with a nice view and enjoy an outdoors lunch/dinner.

I have been coming here since the early 80's While the prices have changed. The food remains the same. . The hamburgers are better than In-N-Out. Their fried zucchini is so good and the breakfast plates and burritos are on point! Not sure on some of these other reviews, but in my opinion, this place is great

I don't know what's going on at Hayes burgers but my lunch today was nowhere near as good as they have it in the past. The onion rings are horrible due to bad breading and my burger was subpar as well. They used to be luscious and just wonderful, but I don't know.

When we visit California, we always detour to make it to A's Burgers. There's something about these particular burgers and fries that make it special. It's almost like an InnOut but I almost want to say it's better.... No lie. Service is quick and easy and the seating area is generic but it's very open with windows all around, plenty of natural lighting. Overall great place. I will continue to stop by even if it's an hour detour

The Mahi plate is well done but get fries. grilled cheese is 5 star. Very nice folks at the window.

I've been eating here for over 20 years. Their fries are som of my favorites, especially with salsa. Love the burgers and burritos. Can't go wrong here.

Being born and raised here in OC and now living in Central Pennsylvania where places like A's really don't exist you really start to appreciate what it is just that much more! I've been coming here since I was little and I've always had what's totally yummy in all those burger breakfast burrito ways that's just made me wanna come back! Today was no different I just wanted a bacon breakfast burrito so it was through the drive thru and I was on my way to the spot in the harbor to chill and eat breakfast by the water! Their bacon breakfast burritos have always been yummy and just full of flavor even more so when you add some of their salsa to it which is something that I've always loved because it like totally reminds me of spicy celery but a salsa making for what's totally good when added to anything you might order! Overall yummy breakfast burritos and burgers and it has been that way for many years and coming back to visit places like A's just hits the spot sometimes!

I am certain that I just ate a perfect snickerdoodle! Don't skip the cookies! Chips are freshly made and served warm and perfectly salted. Everything else was excellent, served quickly and pleasantly. I will dream of this cookie forever!

We are never disappointed in this place. Burgers are always fresh with more than enough fries or onion rings or zucchini.

We were staying at the campground across the street so we decided to go to Ace burgers for dinner. It was 830 when we arrived all excited to order our food. Then the girl said we had to get our food to go even though there was 30 minutes to go. Someone was cleaning the tables, so I guess they didn't want to be bothered with us sitting down. I guess we will never know if their food is good or not because we're not going back That's ridiculous 30 minutes to go and they won't let us sit down. We would definitely have been done by the time they wanted to go home.

Food and service is always great. Recommend the bacon burger, zucchini fries, breakfast burritos but really everything is good. Cute little tables inside if you're not going through the drive through

The zucchini fries looked delicious but they are disgusting and greasy. It's like biting into a hot grease sponge. No flavor. This is not what fried zucchini should taste like. Unfortunately that was the only item that I had. I went out of my way to go here for the fried zucchini.

I like A's burgers, mostly for the burritos. Especially breakfast burritos. I don't go here enough!

This is a hands down 5. Insane side portion sizes and great value. Disregard the 3.7 and the other bougie restaurants charging $16 for a burger in Dana Point

The customer service is amazing. This young man did such a good job at serving me. He was polite, respectful, and would not stop smiling. I'm not even joking. I go every Wednesday and every single time he's smiling. Somebody wife this man up for real.

This place has the best zucchini, we've been coming here for about 25 years! We used to know The owner passed she was such beautiful spiritual person very very good hearted. The place is still beautiful, ocean breeze, cool wooden picnic tables.

A's Burgers has been a favorite of mine for a few years now, as the food here is consistently excellent, and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. The burgers I've been served have always been well cooked and very flavorful, and the onion rings are always excellent. The fries and zucchini are great too, and have always been consistent in quality in my experience. Perhaps my personal favorite menu item is the Mahi fish burrito... very fresh, plenty of flavor, and a good portion for the price. The restaurant is conveniently located adjacent to the San Juan Creek bike trail, and is right across the highway from Doheny State beach; making it a great pit stop for anyone in the area looking for a quick meal. Overall, highly recommended!

We're from out of town and were visiting and just stopped by after leaving the beach. The young guy that was working the register recommended the mahi fish burrito and it was amazing, we also tried the burgers, quesadilla, and steak plate. EVERYTHING was cooked to perfection. We ordered shakes to go and they were also very good. I would definitely recommended this to anyone.

Great little Burger joint! Happy and helpful service. Yummy cheeseburger and giant portions of fries. Ranch was super yummy! Ate there and it worked perfect for a quick casual dinner.

What happened to the burgers here? Huge bun but thin patty. Too much bread. $11.85 cheeseburger and onion rings. No drink.

Food was amazing got a double A's burger with onion rings it was soooo good, service is pretty chill bunch of younger kids were working the, only issue I had was a transient who was eating inside had a VERY VERY large knife across his chest and he looked sketch as fuck so keep your eyes peeled BUT other then that food was great good prices and super chill spot after a good surf sesh!

I grew up in this area and really never hit a A's until I became an adult and I cannot tell you how happy I am with their product and supreme customer service. Wow what a difference this place makes in getting "fast good". It's better than In-N-Out, hands-down the best hamburger burritos I've had in a long time and I'm very pleased to tell you that I give this place by unflappable recommendation, and it will come here for many more moons to come.

I have to say I give more than several opportunities for this place to change my mind. My first visit here a year ago was awesome. Since getting their feature as the best burger place in Dana point they have absolutely disappointed several times. My last 4 visits have been horrible and I'm finally getting around to posting something. I will not be going back and they can go pound the sand that's at the beach nearby. From the soggy zucchini to the dry buns on the burger and this evening I sat in the drive thru for over 25 minutes. Not because the line was long because there was only 3 cars in front of me. I felt like I was held hostage in the line.

A's is the absolute best!! Best breakfast burritos ever and seriously yummy and crunchy zucchini fries and tortilla chips. The employees are all friendly and the SJC location is a community favorite! We always take out of town guests to our favorite burrito joint

Slaps. Nothing else needed to be said. My girl and I were craving a late night burger and this place came in clutch. Burger was a little above average but fired up they were open. Their breakfast burrito will knock your socks off though. Aight I'm done.
