"The best feature of this highly typical whitewashed property is its remote location, which you’ll come to as you leave Agua Amarga on the Carboneras road. And if you’re interested in visiting something unusual in the area, this “asador” is located close to the ruins of the Agua Amarga iron ore loading terminus (in operation until 1942). The restaurant has two rustic-contemporary dining rooms, both with a white colour scheme and a fireplace, plus a pleasant terrace embellished with cactus and prickly pears where guests can enjoy traditional cuisine with both Arab and oriental influences. The daily fish specials and the delicious beef entrecôte are particular highlights." - Michelin Inspector

Went here for my birthday celebration lunch. Just felt the need to post a review as the food was so amazing. The service was also excellent and the setting is rather special. Well done to all the team 👏

Food, service and ambience was incredible. We had the cheese platter, mussels, sea bass (or sole? I can’t remember) and duck. They were all cooked to perfection and the waiter was just lovely. For a Michelin star restaurant it also wasn’t super expensive. 10/10 will return!

Referenced in the Michelin guide, if you blink you’ll drive past this excellent traditional restaurant. Recommend booking, in fact i think that is compulsory. We shared starters and enjoyed aged steaks and fish main courses. The Muga wine was delicious as were our desserts. The 230 euro bill for four was washed down with complimentary bottles of baileys and limoncello. The service was great and the atmosphere felt private and spacious.

A-mazing 😳 we had the dry aged beef carpaccio, steak tartare on marrow and the 70 day dry aged ribeye and honestly.. the best we’ve ever had!! If you’re a meat lover this is the place to be.

2024. 19th February. We managed to return after a long absence. It was as good as we remembered. A memorable lunch with good friends in the best restaurant we have found in Cabo de Gata. 2018. Fabulous celebratory lunch. Excellent food presented and served to perfection, accompanied by excellent wines. The perfect place for a special occasion.

Impeccable seafood and outstanding meat make for a wonderful restaurant: Asador La Chumbera has it all. If you’re around here, stop by and try their amazing mussels and king prawns. And if you’re a carnivore at heart, their selection of beef cuts will let you drooling from the moment you’ll get a chance to witness their fridge to digestion. It’s a must visit for all non-vegetarians!
