Best Chicken Sandwiches in Bucks County | Eater Philly

"Asad’s Hot Chicken is opening locations all over the area, much to the delight of those who can’t wait to enjoy a spicy chicken sandwich. Stop by the Bensalem location for a hot chicken slider prepared in a spice rub and topped with coleslaw, pickles, cheese, and Asad’s sauce for a zesty taste you won’t soon forget." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

Google
Love Asad's! Highly recommend the loaded fries. But every single thing on the menu is fantastic! Great service, good portions for the price. You won't be disappointed!

I ordered the same “Hot” meal I get every single week — I know exactly how spicy it’s supposed to be. But this time, it was made so unbearably spicy that we simply couldn’t eat it. Hoping for a reasonable response, we called Asad’s Hot Chicken in Bensalem to let them know they had clearly gone overboard with the pepper. Instead of any kind of customer-focused attitude, the manager on the phone offered a half-hearted apology and told me to “just be more careful next time and order Mild.” I calmly replied that I’d be leaving a review on Google — and he simply hung up on me. Great job, guys! With that kind of customer service, I’m sure you’ll have tons of loyal customers. 🙃

We stayed here for one night during a long drive and were impressed by how well everything was run. The lobby was welcoming, check-in took two minutes, and the room was spotless. There was even a handwritten welcome note on the desk, which added a personal touch. Breakfast the next morning included hot and cold options, and we were able to hit the road feeling rested and full.

The food is very good considering it's fast food. Much better than the other chicken places. I always get the 2 sliders. I like no hot sauce. This time they remembered to leave it off. Staff is sweet. It's funny for me because I am kind of old now getting to hang out at a place with cool 😎 people.

Google
I got the #6 loaded fries and banana pudding! Honestly the loaded fries are good especially with the sauce, but it’s A LOT. I only found myself eating like 1/4 of it and feeling like it was really heavy and greasy. It would be great to share though! The banana pudding was THE BEST. I loved the touch of the cookie and it was lightly sweetened which is what I prefer! Atmosphere is fun with the colors and service was good!

Google
This was my 1st time eating at Asad’s. The restaurant is clean, spacious and the cashier was friendly. I had the loaded fries they came out hot and fresh. I ordered them hot they were mild to me but still tasty. They have this sauce and cheese all over the fries which I liked. They are not stingy with the chicken they top the fries with and I love that. You also get a lot of fries and definitely can share with 2-3 people. I will come back again!

Google
They delivered a good chicken tender. The food was all super fresh. The staff were efficient and nice. I liked it overall but wouldn't go out of my way to return. We also received no coleslaw or pickles in our orders. Check before leaving if you want them, they're supposed to be included.

Yelp
I waited a while to visit until the hype died down because I'm not a fan of crowded places or long waits. I've seen the lines at the Cottman location, and standing outside in cold weather just isn't worth it to me. What I do like about this spot is the sit-in option with the cool graffiti-style murals. I've tried both the #1 on Uber Eats and the #2 in-store, and both times the food was super fresh and delicious. That said, if you can, definitely visit the store--prices are much better than ordering through Uber Eats! I definitely enjoyed the food and it was always fresh and hot. I tried the mild and next time I'll order the hot!

Yelp
Hot Chicken is a cultural thing right now, and Asad's is doing its best to take full advantage of it. It appears to be succeeding. Their sliders and tenders are very good. The chicken is thick, tender and juicy whether in a sandwich bun with cole slaw, pickle and Thousand Island-like Asad sauce and nicely wrapped in logo emblazoned paper, or a large slab of breaded and fried breast resting on their decent crispy fries. I was quite happy with both, although I chose low heat option so I could focus on the basic chicken product without distraction by add on scovils. The fries were crunchy when hot, a bit starchy after they cooled. But, isn't the real question whether Asad's is superior to Chick Fil-A or Popeye's? To my tongue it is not. They are all variations on a theme; all enjoyable and all worthwhile depending on personal taste. This Asad's in Bensalem has a small side dining room, and is plugged in with Uber Eats for those who like to order online and specify time for pick up. I found that I had a ten minute wait after arrival, after ordering two hour ahead. No biggie. Staff was hustling to stay on top of the orders. So, why does the Asad Chicken look pissed off?

Yelp
Walked in and ate inside. Had to try the loaded fry's from other reviews. They are very good and loaded! I ordered "hot" on my items. The loaded fry's were hot but not temperature hot. Still great to dig in. I also ordered 2 sliders. They are full chicken sandwiches pretty much. They were spicy hot and temperature hot. I do like lettuce and tomato on my chicken sandwiches but they only have a pickle. The counter person was nice. The inside is decorated in a lot of chicken graffiti style. The restaurant seemed very clean and the tables were clean. Ordering my sandwiches "hot" is an extremely spicy hot for sure. I do like it but took a minute to get used to that spice thats for sure! The Cayenne pepper is real! Well worth the try. The price for the entire meal was $36.63 not bad for 2 people.

Yelp
Food quality was superb. Portions were generous. Unfortunately I'm just not a fan of their sauce. The service was good polite and knowledgeable. The store was clean and well lit.

Yelp
I'd been to the original Asad's on the Boulevard and the hot chicken was worth the hype, but it came with a long line and wait time with no way to order ahead. I was excited to see this secondary location open in Bensalem, since it offers online ordering. It is also a storefront with an inside space located in a strip mall, compared to the original Asad's stand in the lot of a gas station. The online ordering interface gives an estimated wait time which I've seen range from 10 to 25 minutes, depending on the time of day I was ordering. The estimate was accurate each time I've been. The chicken was as good as I expected. It's difficult for me to say how it compares to the original Asad's without doing a direct side-by-side taste test, but I think the Bensalem location stands on its own as exceptionally delicious hot chicken--with the added convenience of online ordering and a larger location.

Yelp
Delectable!!!! This is the best chicken sandwich I have ever had in my life, hands down!! I tried the hot it wasn't too much or too little, just enough! The cheese fries were spectacular and that milkshake! So let me note that I got vanilla shake. The inside of the cup was drizzled with caramel as well as bite sized pieces of ice cream cone sprinkled throughout.

Yelp
The best of the new chicken places. Hot and spicy and just good food and great service all around. Love the food love the staff and the fact that they are expanding. Great place!

Yelp
So like everyone else, I've heard the hype and seen the viral videos of Asad's Hot Chicken on Cottman Avenue. But then I saw that there's an outpost in Bensalem which was easier for parking as it's in a strip mall. Wife and I decided to check out this restaurant. Once we got inside this no-seat place, there were several people waiting for their orders, and after I placed mine several more were coming in especially for food delivery services. The food was ready relatively quickly, and we were out the door into the car. No burgers here; just the chicken sliders, tenders, fries, shakes, desserts of banana pudding, and smoothies. The levels of spice range from: none, mild, hot, extra hot, and reaper. I ordered some loaded fries with no spice, and a two slider with fries - one with no spice and one with mild. I dove into the loaded fries in the car. Loaded with lots of cut up tenders and overloaded with the special sauce which was a thick ketchup/Mayo blend or I felt was like a Japanese Yum Yum sauce. There may have been some cheese, too? There was no coleslaw in there. For the sliders, the special sauce was too much. The pickles were good, but honestly I could not tell a difference in the mild vs no spice. The fries were crunchy at first, but not by the time I got home. Overall, a very messy meal that was tasty, but nothing special enough for a specific return trip for me. I can only imagine what the hot, extra hot, or reaper would have tasted like. I think I also would have much more enjoyed the food if there wasn't as much special sauce dousing the loaded fries and sliders. And they even give you extra ramekins of the sauce in the meals. A bit over $30 for the loaded fries #6 and two sliders with fries #2. Friendly service, no seating, lots of customers, better than the Cottman Ave. store?

Yelp
Tender and flavorful chicken. I enjoyed the banana pudding. I would recommend getting the sauce on the side for everything. It's pretty heavy and can overwhelm the flavor of everything else. The sliders are more like a full chicken sandwich. I would recommend overall if you're looking to try something other than Chick-fil-A or KFC.

Yelp
Been recommended to come and try this place out so many times and I'm glad I listened. I placed my order online and it was ready for pickup within 25-30 minutes. When I went to go pick it up, there was quite a line waiting inside. I ordered Asad's #2 that has two sliders and fries on the side and asked for the hot spice for my food. By far the best chicken sandwich I've ever had and the fries were still very crispy by the time I got home to eat. Honestly those fries are amazing. Place is pretty tiny, only for pick ups only and they probably do delivery as well. There's no seated area where you can sit and eat just fyi. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a chicken sandwich spot. There's other stuff on the menu that I would like to try so I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Place was really small with no seating. To be honest I was very disappointed. It's not that good. I'd rather go and eat at Chick-fil-A. It would taste better. Banana pudding was OK but not the best. And my order was missing. Two items had to go back, I don't think I would eat here again

Yelp
I was super excited to check out the hype of Asad's hot chicken but was sadly disappointed! I went to the Bensalem location so the order and pickup process was quick. I got the 2 spicy chicken sandwich platter with fries. The fries were good, hot and crispy but the chicken sandwich were ehhhh. I asked for the hottest sauce on the chicken and I don't know if they got the sauce wrong but it was sooooo mild like not even a hint of spice or heat. I also did not like that it wasn't a chicken sandwich really but moreso a large chicken tender between a buns. I was eating just bun without chicken for half the sandwich. Personally I think it's overhyped and overrated.

Yelp
My question is what's the point of pre ordering ur food ahead of time and you still got to wait like normal time when order it in person

Jim M.

Yelp
Food is good but it takes forever to get your food and its FREEZING in there. How can you have tables to eat at but no heat???

John B.

Yelp
they put laxatives in my food. ive been using the restroom for the past 2 days! do not try this

Yelp
I really like Asad's Hot Chicken and frequent the Rhawnhurst location whenever I'm in the Northeast area so when I saw Asad's had a new second location and I happened to be in the area, I had to check it out. The second location is pretty comparable to the first location but I think the visit fell a little short of my expectations. One reason was the wait time. So I'm used to the longer wait time at Asad's (which is usually around half an hour) but I think it's worth the wait because the food is good, fried food usually takes a minimum of 20 minutes to make, and they're a popular place that always has a line. I typically order in person but I had heard that, if you order through Uber Eats as a pick up order, you can save a bit of wait time so I decided to try ordering ahead through the app. I don't know if that really made a difference because I ended up waiting for an hour for the food to be ready. Besides the longer-than-usual wait time, the quality of the food wasn't quite as good as it usually is at the Rhawnhurst location. I ordered what I usually order: the Tender Wrap and Slider w/ Fries. The tender wrap and the fries were both the same quality as what you can get at the Rhawnhurst location. The slider, however, was quite dry. So much so that I didn't really want to finish the sandwich. That may have been due to the chicken being rather large and probably could have been juicier if it was flatter. Would I go back? : Maybe. This location is sometimes more convenient for me to get to and has better parking than the Rhawnhurst location. This experience could have been a one off in terms of wait time and food quality but, for the most part, the food is comparable to the Rhawnhurst location if you've been wanting to try Asad's.

Yelp
We have an Asad's hot chicken in the area! Was real excited about this after seeing so many reels on IG about it. Was relieved to know it lived up to the hype! I got mild my first try because I wasn't familiar with the spice levels. It still had a nice amount of heat. I had a slider and loaded fries. The chunks of chicken in the fries were plentiful and were complimented with cheese and a sauce similar to that of raising canes. The slider was big and probably more on the side of an actual sandwich which I have no complaints here about that. The location is take out only. Looking forward to my next visit.

Clint M.

Yelp
Very good food, slow speed of service, and could be cleaner in the dining area. Granted I visited on a Friday at 8pm when they were slammed, but it's clear the dining area is an afterthought in their operations based on seating arrangement and quality. I ate in the dining area. I ordered online and it was ready when I got there. There was a lot of people standing around waiting for their food. You could see into the kitchen and a number of people were busy filling orders. I think they could improve their efficiency somewhere along the line. I got the slider + tender with loaded fries at heat level 3 of 5. It was a little hotter than expected, but not ridiculously so. It was plenty of food with the loaded fries. I couldn't finish it in one sitting so I reheated the fries when I got back home.

Yelp
Waited an additional 10 minutes for my food after the original pick up time, just for my food to be cold. Barely any cheese, but a heavy amount of sauce. This location in particular has not been the same the last couple months.

Yelp
Check your orders before you leave. The asads on knights rd is always missing items. They got me for $20 in missing items on my last order. Chicken is good but won't be back.

Yelp
the food was fresh and service was great, I oredered online and got there immediately, the cashier told me an accurate wait time. no seats so its pretty much like a hole in the wall vibe/ ambiance. edit: 2/7 times I ordered the food was cold and stale

Tony J.

Yelp
Asad's strikes again! Love this place, their hot chicken is reminiscent of the classic Nashville recipe with a halal twist. I ordered their slider and tender combo and it was an amazing portion for its price point. The chicken is as tender and juicy as you imagine. The seasoning is addictive with hints of spice, sweet, and tingling. I ordered extra hot this time and I would say it's pretty manageable. Makes me want to try the reaper next time!

Yelp
Heard so much hype about this spot that I just had to try it for myself. I got the loaded fries platter and asked for spicy and tried to ask for extra hot sauce on the side in case it wasn't spicy enough. They said it's a powder and not a sauce so we ended up not getting it. The chicken wasn't spicy at all and over all I think it was just okay. Maybe I should've tried the chicken sandwich or tenders platter but wasn't too impressed with the loaded fries which was what I've been seeing all over social media platforms

Bobby M.

Yelp
Food was ok, chicken burger and tenders were nothing to rave about. Didn't really have much flavor. Their sauce was good but other than that, needs more seasoning. Fries were good. What really irked me was the service charge that was added without my knowledge. I looked at the receipt and noticed I got charged a fat service convenience fee and they have no signs posting that they will charge this. I'd be OK with the fee if they told me somehow beforehand.

Yelp
Amazing food, can't wait to go back. Even the desserts are delicious. Highly recommended. The corn on the cob is to die for.

Zulq M.

Yelp
Hot chicken is the best around. A lot of others popped up but Asad's is different and better!

Kat A.

Yelp
Waited 43 minutes after ordering on their website. Food was also cold?????????????????????
google avatar

Durry D.

Yelp
I got the chicken sliders which I was very happy they were more regular size sandwiches. Great sized piece of chicken and flavored well. I did ask for very hot seasoning and didn't really taste much spice but there was a little kick. Also, did the loaded fries and they were certainly loaded and worth it, very good and a great size portion. Definitely enough for two. I have to take a star away because they're fairly new still at the Knights road location and couldn't do a milkshake. We don't need more fast food type restaurants unable to do milkshakes but overall very good and worth trip. A little pricey but the portions match and made it a good value.

Ibrahim C.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the sauce even the woman working there gave me time to choose while i took awhile while they were busy and the wait was a decent amount

Shawn C.

Yelp
Service was fine, can't really say that there was any ambience as you need to eat standing up at a counter. I chose the hot tenderloins with fries on 2 slices of bread. Big portion size the fries were heavily seasoned and also spicy. I could only finish one cutlet. I probably would have fared better with the mild. It was hard for me to enjoy the meal as k found it too spicy. If you like spicy this may be your thing. Large portions sizes too. Would not visit again, once was enough but I'll say folks may enjoy this place as they have a great take out business .

Tyler M.

Yelp
May be the best spicy chicken sandwich I ever had! Fries are real crispy and good too. Love it!

Yelp
Went here for lunch . Ordered the #4 slider and tender + fries. $12.99 and it doesn't even come with a drink. Ok so I add a $1.50 Coke. So far I'm not impressed but I'm hanging in there. I ordered at 12:23. And waited and waited for 27 minutes . You gotta be kidding me , you only make one dish , chicken what could take so long ? On to the food : everything was at least freshly made and hot from fryer. The taste : the fries were average. The chicken , Just not my cup of tea. The chicken itself was juicy but the thick greasy breading is a hard no for me . I ordered it "hot" and it's spicy , I'm ok with that but it's an over seasoned salty type like someone dumped the shaker on it . I like spicy food but this wasn't it. The slider was sloppy . One flabby pickle two shreds of cole slaw that you hardly knew was there. Cheez wiz mixed in with their sauce I didn't love . They need a flatter filet of chicken breast for a bun not this thick hunk in the middle . I won't be back and can't recommend you try.

Semita I.

Yelp
My son saw their advertising on social media, so we told him we'd go when in the area. I am SOOO glad we did. The wait time was a smidge long, but understandable based on the traffic in the store and the mobile orders being the register. You could see all the workers movin' and groovin'. My wife and I ordered the "sliders". They were not sliders. They were ginormous sandwiches. We got the Mild, but it still has some kick. Overall I'd go back if I was in the area.

Edward I.

Yelp
Great food and service. Nice and spicy if you'd like it that way. Wait isn't too bad either despite how busy they are.
