Compact circa-1967 market selling frozen & packaged groceries, cookware & gifts from Japan.
"The Japanese market offers up lovely soft serve Fridays through Sundays. There’s the matcha, the sesame, and the combination matcha and sesame swirl available. There’s a second location down on South Lamar. Takeout orders can be placed in person." - Nadia Chaudhury
"Asahi is a Japanese food, gifts and more specialty store. From sake sets and tea sets to handmade rice balls during lunchtime, this place really emphasizes the feeling of Japanese comfort in a well organized grocery setting. If you like ramen, you can buy it dry-packaged here or purchase everything you need to make a fresh homemade bowl of ramen. They have a few assorted fresh fruits and veggies on rotation, as well as handmade noodles and fish cake in the freezer section. As for dessert there is a multitude of goodies to choose from, baked goods to chocolate green tea ice cream sandwiches, my personal favorite. They also have tons of packaged favorites from Japan." - XtraMileMedia
"For fun Japanese candies and treats, head to Asahi Imports and browse through the wonder-filled aisles. Pickup and delivery orders can be placed online and there is in-person shopping. There’s a second location on South Lamar too." - Nadia Chaudhury
"While Asahi is more known for being a Japanese gricery store and market, it also offers fresh onigiri, bento boxes, and soft service, and Takeout orders can be placed online or in person." - Darcie Duttweiler
"The Japanese market with two locations (this one in Brentwood and the other one down on South Lamar) is the premier spot for onigiri in Austin. The Onigiri Corner menu includes everything from plain to umeboshi to kombu to the karaage chicken-mayonnaise to the shiitake soboro. Pickup orders can be placed in person." - Nadia Chaudhury
