Sushi was completely disgusting. I had to choke it down. How does sushi come with a charcoal burnt taste? They sat me at the Sushi bar since I was alone and I feel like I am on stage for everyone to see under super bright lights in a well dimmed room. And the Sushi bar smelt a little "outdated" with the food in the display. Not pleasant to smell while eating.

Google
I love the cozy atmosphere and the staff treats us very, very well! We had an excellent server that answered all of our questions. I got the salmon teriyaki and it was the best I've ever had! Large piece of fish, lots of mushrooms, great fried rice and the sauce was AMAZING . You get a choice of soup - clear and miso. Their sushi is amazing! 💓👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Asakusa is my all-time fav place for sushi in Fort Wayne! The service is always good and the food is phenomenal. A great place to get together with friends and family!

Google
WE LOVE SERVER 7 He made our visit out of this world. We were just 2 girls wanting to get some sushi, little did we know server 7 would be quite the character. There was never a dull moment and never knew what to expect when he came back to the table. He definitely thought we were way over the age of 25, but we are not at all. His behavior and body language was quite unique but also friendly, VERY friendly. 20% tip was left. Overall great experience. Aloha roll was spectacular

Delicious food. Friendly and accommodating service. My husband and I spent $60 for dinner and had a really nice time. We will definitely be coming back.

Google
Asakusa it's just a little on the pricey side but it's definitely worth it. My wife and I always share a combination plate with teriyaki steak and shrimp and vegetable tempura. Comes with soup and two sushi pieces. We also get six pieces of sushi on the side. So good! We love the atmosphere here. And the privacy of each Booth. Our service is also top notch. That's why we come back time after time when we're looking for Asian food. Love this place!

Google
This place was absolutely wonderful to eat dinner at. There was no wait time, the background music was loud enough to enjoy in conversation pauses but not so loud that you needed to speak over it to be heard sitting across the table. Lisa provided excellent service and was kind with a fun personality which helped make the experience even better. The restaurant is clean, the tables from previous guests are taken care of quickly. I appreciate the layout and use of space. You aren’t crammed in like a sardine in a can. The wait time for the food wasn’t bad either. There was enough time to enjoy what was ordered and finish it with light conversation, but not so long you’re left wondering “….did they forget about me??” The prices seem more than fair for what is offered and everything was delicious! The manager also casually walked around to check how the food and service was. It was nice to see, I wish more places did this. Thank you for a wonderful meal and dining experience!

Google
The best place in Fort Wayne for fresh sushi! Everything I have had here has been amazing, from sushi and teriyaki chicken to their amazing salad and soup starters! Update - I recently visited to try some dishes I've never had before. The fried soft shell crab appetizer was very unique, though a bit pricy. The "Sashimi, Sushi, and Tekka Maki" boat was amazing! Very large slices of super fresh sashimi with great variety. Last, the Sukiyaki was a super unique and delicious dish, extremely rich glass noodles that absorbed that sauce, tender beef and tofu, and super delicious cabbage (I've come back twice for the Sukiyaki).

Yelp
Asakusa is a must try if you love sushi and Japanese food. The facility is surprisingly large. It is nicely decorated and clean. You feel like you have landed in an authentic Japanese restaurant. The team here is conscious and attentive. The menu is large - some for everyone, Japanese food lovers and all. The house salad is simple and fresh. The ginger dressing always has fresh pop. This salad was topped with a lot of dressing than was very thick. The miso soup is pretty standard but tasty. The fried gyoza was made to perfection. The wrapper had a nice crisp and a slight amount of oil. The dipping sauce helps accent the wrapper and pork piece. My grilled teriyaki salmon Don Buri was outstanding! The rice was perfectly cooked - moist and sticky. The salmon had a nice fresh non-fishy taste. The teriyaki glaze was sweet and really pulled the salmon and rice flavors together.

Yelp
A favorite of ours for years when we lived in the area. We were excited to return on a recent visit to Indiana. We were a party of five on a Saturday evening. Everyone started with the clear soup which never disappoints and a variety of rolls and meals were ordered. To our delight, everything was just as good as we remembered. I'm partial to the Dragon Roll and it hit the spot in all the right ways. The table service was fine and if it was a little slow, we didn't notice because we were all busy talking and enjoying being together. Everyone working there was friendly and we even joked with some of them when they "borrowed" an extra chair from our table. Smiles and laughter is something you don't find everywhere. Definitely still our top pick for sushi in Ft. Wayne.

Yelp
Sushi in Fort Wayne? Am I crazy? No! Asakusa rocks! Great sushi selection (for the Midwest) delicious appetizers, try the gyoza, and fun selection of rolls. Had the sushi appetizer today, $11.25 and a delicious east coast maki roll. Great value and a regular stop for me when I'm in Fort Wayne!

Yelp
Another travel trip, another day to try Asian food in this area. The restaurant was very crowded. Looks like a popular place for local. Owned and run by Chinese. It's hard to find a true japanese restaurant in midwest. You'll be lucky to find a good Asian food. Service was good for Sushi bar. Server was attentive. Kinda slow for table services. Not sure what went wrong. Plenty of Sushi Chef behind small bar. About 5-6 people. Still, heard some people tried to walk out due to long wait. Not sure why local likes clear soup, comes with some tempura crumbs, compare to Miso soup in typical japanese in Coast cities. Ordered Chirashi to try different sashimi. Not bad. Thick cut, fulfilling and fresh. Hopefully they keep consistency in quality and services.

Yelp
Staff is fantastic and the freshest and authentic sushi preparation! I've been a loyal customer for years and no other Japanese restaurant compares! The owners Quan and Michelle are wonderful!

Grace M.

Yelp
This is the best sushi spot in Fort Wayne by far. The restaurant is always busy, and for good reason! The food always tastes super fresh, the prices are very fair, and with that you still get the experience of a nice restaurant. Asakusa remains a family favorite!

Yelp
My dear friend and I meet there once a month for years. We enjoy the food. We like the servers, especially Jordan and Lisa. The guy at the door is rude and mean. Apparently he is the entitled son of the owner. Unfortunately he needs to be fired. Even when he knew we were upset, he didn't come over and apologize. Were changing our lunches to

Yelp
First time here and we were so pleased! We didn't plan ahead and make a reservation, so we expected a wait and we're totally fine with waiting when the hostess told us 40 minutes. Maybe a little over 5 minutes later they gave us a call that spots at the sushi bar had just become available, and it being just the two of us that was perfect. It's very cozy in there and it was nice being at the sushi bar and kind of getting to see what was going on! Service was prompt, and the food was amazing. We definitely need to stop back in and try more things. We had already dug in here but we tried the tempura roll, dragon roll, and a few different sashimis (:

Yelp
Always a good choice for dinner. Was a very busy Friday night, had to wait about 40 minutes but well worth it. They will text you when the table is ready so you can go run other errands nearby. Chicken teriyaki is very good, portion size is decent. Sushi is always fresh. Didn't get this time but my personal favorite is the oni maki sushi. It is warm and delicious. Service is usually attentive and friendly. Inside has mood lighting and the music doesn't overheat the ambiance. Never a bad choice for dinner. Biggest complaint is that I wish I could buy a quart of the clear soup at a time, it's so good.

Yelp
This was our first time at Asakusa. It had a pleasant decor and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The tempura was very tasty and the miso soup was above average. The squid salad was a bit tough but the flavor was really good. My dragon roll was quite sticky and the taste was subpar. Our dinner companions seem to like the chicken teriyaki but my wife's shrimp and vegetables were bland and undercooked. We will probably will go elsewhere for our next sushi adventure.

Yelp
So delicious, a hit every single time. Our waiter was so nice and was cracking jokes with us. We always have an amazing time here

Yelp
This is my go to place when I am in Fort Wayne. The show they do when preparing the food is great.

Yelp
Great service and food. Lots of sushi options and other delicious entrees to choose from. They also offer take out service for those of us in a rush.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, great service, clean, well kept restaurant. The best sushi I've had in 3 years.

Yelp
I picked up some take out from this Fort Wayne sushi spot while in town for business, and it was enjoyable. I ordered the shrimp shumai dumplings, and they were delicious, although quite small. The dipping sauce was tangy and tasty. I also had a few sushi rolls, including the spicy salmon. They sushi rolls were a very nice portion, and they were definitely tasty. However, I don't like it when wasabi gets on my rolls before I can get a chance to dig in. The pricing was very reasonable. I would definitely choose to eat here again.

Yelp
Great food. I've been going to Asakusa off and on for years. Food has always been good. The wait staff however likes to put their fingers into your food. Thumb in soup, finger touches food on dish as they carry it, thumb in steamed rice. I don't know why they keep grabbing dishes like that, but it's at a point where I an done. Turnover is high. Ambiance is good for vampires.

Yelp
I really was hoping for a solid sushi place coming to Fort Wayne, but unfortunately Asakusa left a lot to be desired. My boyfriend and I came in during a busy Saturday, during dinner time. I had heard good things about the restaurant, so I was eager to try their food. The decor was actually really nice and intimate, with a good amount of space and comfortable seating. Our waitress was friendly and talkative as well, so that was a really nice part of the meal. We ordered the soft shell crab, a couple rolls, and some salmon nigiri (my staple at any sushi restaurant). Sadly, the soft shell crab had visible flour on multiple pieces. It was tucked away on parts that did not seem to be fully battered, and I didn't realize it until I tasted the flour and saw it covering certain places on the crab. We got the rolls soon after, and the flavor of the fillings were good. However, the sushi rice was poorly seasoned and tasted more like plain, steamed rice - and the rolls had a loooot of rice. They were huge, but that was mainly because of the rice! It was disappointing because with better rice (and less rice), I think the rolls would have been stellar. But sushi rice is such an important part of good sushi... the same issue could be said about the nigiri sushi as well. The salmon was very fatty, which isn't to my personal taste, but the rice was rather distracting. Overall I'd like to give them a try again in the future. It may have been because the night was busier, but it's definitely not the best first impression.

Micah D.

Yelp
Had customers and hotel guest tell me this was good sushi. It did not disappoint. This is not your usual sushi place. The fish is fresh and favorable and many special rolls do pick from.

Karl H.

Yelp
1st time there, although others in our group are regulars. They all ordered sushi, and I must say, the presentation was great and large servings. We don't eat sushi so instead ordered teriyaki shrimp and chicken. Both were great and servings were large. Our server was great. Interested, attentive, very friendly.

Nick B.

Yelp
Best sushi in Fort Wayne and it's not even close. Staff is super friendly and it's a great environment. Highly recommend.

Yelp
My favorite place to go to for Sushi fast service and very friendly. Definitely the place to go eat.

Yelp
Been going here for 10+ years now and the food has been consistent and yummy always. Fast speedy service, and the best Japanese food around. Best sushi I have ever had by far and overall so impressive! So many options to choose from.

Cameron D.

Yelp
Amazing service waitress was extremely kind. The aesthetic is also on point. The water I had was good.
google avatar

Yelp
Yummy sushi. I didn't love the red ginger sauce but I loved my soup. Menu can be a little difficult to navigate and prices are not shown. I got the clear soup and ginger salad as an app. If you want to know cost, go online to see the menu. If I got the spicy tuna again, I would recommend asking for cucumber vs lettuce. The specialty rolls were also delicious. I definitely recommend!
google avatar

Lindsey L.

Yelp
Hands down, one of the best places to grab sushi. It's always fresh. The service is top notch and the intimate setting makes it perfect for a date night. The miso soup is spot on too!
google avatar

Becca S.

Yelp
It was so cozy and the food was AMAZING. I got the combo don with chicken katsu and chicken teriyaki (I like chicken, lol) and it was perfect!! We ordered the dumplings as an appetizer and split a special roll. Everything was so delicious, the waiter was nice & helpful, and the ambience was dark & cozy. Lastly, they brought me a green tea ice cream for my birthday! Can't wait to come back!

S. M.

Yelp
Nice ambiance. I like that most all of the tables are set up in a somewhat private setting without being secluded. Food was excellent. Sushi was A little pricey for some items, mostly the small sides were $$, and puts this place out of the ballpark for being a regular go-to, but I would certainly recommend for anyone looking for a very good sushi option in the area.

Yelp
People always ask: What do you miss about Fort Wayne? My response: THE FOOD! Asakusa is one of those places in that list. Yeah, there are a lot of wonderful places in Houston but I always find myself comparing it to Asakusa and wishing I could go back. Well the opportunity arose, and I didn't let it slide. Just like I remember. The restaurant is set up wonderfully, each table is in its own little cubby for the best privacy for conversation. You don't feel like your sitting on top of someone else. The sushi is amazing. It's fresh, great portions, and great flavor. If you are from Fort Wayne, visiting Fort Wayne, moving to Fort Wayne, whatever really - this is a must add to your stop! Enjoy!

Yelp
Wow. I used to love going to Asakusa for sushi but I doubt I will return again. If I do it won't be for sushi. I got a lunch special spicy tuna roll and an additional honzo roll. The spicy tuna was not spicy at all - I guess if you find mayo to be spicy then sure? Both rolls were so bland and the rice was over cooked. Asparagus has a pretty strong presence usually and I could barely tell it was in the honzo maki. Also, the rolls didn't come with any ginger to cleanse the palate - I had to ask for it and the chef did not wash his hands and just grabbed some and put it into a small dish for me. The nigiri were OK, but left much to be desired. The fish in the case at the bar looked a bit old and dried out, but I can't say for sure due to the dim lighting. What happened!? I'm sad that this Fort Wayne spot has declined like it has.

Yelp
The sushi is great and priced well. The dining room is laid out that it feels very private, not like an open cafeteria like some establishments. The wait staff was great ad well.

Art D.

Yelp
Best sushi in town bar none! Always fresh. Platings are beautiful. Service is excellent and super friendly.

Yelp
Not great quality sushi. Place inside was nice though. Green tea was good. I would not come back here.
google avatar

Yelp
We had the volcano roll. A whole lump of rice tops with "lobster salad" after each tasted it we realized that it was only rice in the middle and they refused to replace it or refund it. This simple act of not caring about how their service is perceived has made me not want to spend money here again.

Yelp
Sometimes you just know a place will be great! Walked in on a Sunday night and the place was super busy, according to several people waiting to be seated, this was the usual for Asakusa. To be seated faster, I offered to sit at the sushi bar. The head sushi chef greeted me kindly and was attentive throughout my entire meal. My server arrived quickly, offered water, and let me peak at the menu before I ordered. He was actually the perfect balance between attentive and not intrusive. I ordered Gyoza, soup, and the Red Dragon Roll. The gyoza and soup were amazing. Packed full of flavor and the perfect starter. The Red Dragon Roll took a while to be served to me, but it was absolutely worth the wait. The Roll was perfectly balanced, tons of flavor, the sauce added so much to it. Quite possibly one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had. If you're a fan of sushi, this is a MUST stop on your list! Highly recommended this place, I'm eager to come back!

Yelp
I can't believe I've never written a review for Asakusa. It's amazing!!!!!!! Hands down, best sushi in Fort Wayne. There was a time when we would go here 2-3 times a week! And we have never tired of it. There are other good sushi places in The Fort. But overall, Asakusa wins! Their rolls are so much bigger and have so much more food stuffed inside, as compared to others. I have never had anything from here that I didn't love. I think the Bonsai roll is my favorite. But everything is delicious! They also have the BEST seaweed salad!
google avatar

Charles K.

Yelp
From coast to coast, they have some of the best sushi I have ever had. Always great service no matter who you get and the food is always consistently great every time.
google avatar

Linda O.

Yelp
Besides the veggie maki roll, steamed rice, seaweed salad, cold tofu appetizer, and house salad there isn't an option to make any of their entrées vegan by adding tofu or edamame or something. They do have a cold tofu appetizer (which is completely weird/foreign to me and I don't recommend), so you would think that you could sub out one of the meats for tofu in a dish, but you can't. The food is always very good, but without a vegan protein option I leave hungry and wanting more. So I go to another restaurant that has tofu or shelled edamame options.
google avatar

Michele R.

Yelp
I brought my Japan-obsessed eight-year-old twins to Asakusa for some sushi and Bento Box Lunch. The food had big portions and plenty of everything. We got a couple of avocado rolls- they were stuffed with more avocado than we usually get elsewhere and were fresh and delicious. We also got Kani su, the crab appetizer, which came in a yummy vinegar sauce. The sushi rolls we got were big and fresh and I had a lovely Pinot Grigio for nine bucks. All and all, it was fairly affordable for the quality and the atmosphere was cozy.

Marci O.

Yelp
This is the place to go in Fort Wayne for authentic Japanese food. Service is always good and the food is excellent. Great atmosphere for having a conversation while you eat as it isn't too loud and the booths are private. We have eaten here regularly over the last 20 years and have never been disappointed. If you are looking to be entertained with a hibachi chef go to the place next door. If you are looking for good food go to Asakusa.

Yelp
We tried sushi for the first time tonight after a friend recommended Asakusa and now we are SUSHI LOVERS!!! Everything was SO yummy!!! To start, we had the Clear Soup, which doesn't sound appetizing but it has a wonderful flavor and was full of wonton pieces and thinly sliced mushrooms. We chose the Steak Lettuce Wraps and Gyoza (pan-fried shrimp dumplings) as appetizers. The lettuce wraps weren't very flavorful and the sauce was a little bitter but the dumplings were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I could have eaten 20 of those wonderful little bites of goodness. For our entree, we selected the California Roll, Aloha Roll and Aki-Ono Roll. Each had their very own unique flavor and they were all FaBuLoUs!!! It was hard to pick a favorite because they were all so different. For dessert, we chose one more yummy roll which was my favorite of the night, the Dragon Roll!!! The service was EXCELLENT as well!!! We told our server, Holly, that it was our first time eating sushi, so she took the time to thoroughly explain the menu and make recommendations. Our drinks never went empty and she was very friendly. She told us to start slow and that the sushi would expand in our stomach and she was so right. We were so stuffed that we could have rolled out of the restaurant!!! Overall, this place was SUPER and I can't wait to go back!!! Great food. Great service. Great value. Great atmosphere too.

Yelp
Asakusa is by far the best Sushi in Fort Wayne. The competition tries, but it doesn't even come close! The secret is in the rice - any Sushi lover knows this - and you will know the second you take your 1st bite ! The consistency is outstanding and so is the customer service. Give them a try and prove me wrong - I dare you !
google avatar

Yelp
Longtime favorite! At our most recent visit, the restaurant was impressively clean and neat but I did find a hair on my plate. Service was good. We will be back!

Kayla G.

Yelp
This might just be the best sushi in Fort Wayne! They have traditional and unique rolls that are absolutely incredible. Definitely would recommend
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
This place is no where as good as Sapporo's next doors down they serve the same food at the same price. Sure you can get some extra menu items here, which I tired and it sucked. I ordered the peppered seafood. It came with miso soup which I really liked. It came with a ginger salad. The salad was drenched in ginger salad dressing and the dressing was not as good as at Sapporo's. The pepper seafood was literally seafood with pepper on it. No sauce. There was two small splices of carrot and two broccoli frontera on my plate. At Sparros you get the full Habachi experience with lots of veggies and fried rice. This place only offered a bowl of white rice. My wife ordered the Teriyaki shrimp which is similar to what you get at the next door experience but with way less vegetables and rice. Again no fried rice. Also the beer was over priced.
google avatar

Yelp
We walked in, they were really rude, another person came to get us water, and walked away before even giving us eye contact. Our Menus dropped on the table in an aggressive manner. Left before even ordering, will not be coming back.
google avatar

Kayla C.

Yelp
As of Tuesday, Dec 1 they were still allowing dine in on a first come, first serve basis. I'm not a Fort Wayne local so I haven't been to all the sushi joints around town but this one was yummy! Their basic rolls are cut into 6 large pieces. Sushi rolls have their own separate menu that describes each roll. The specialty rolls don't have a price listed next to them (that I saw) but we got 4 different ones ranging from 10-15$/roll.

Yelp
Restaurant review FORT WAYNE BEST: SUSHI RESTAURANT Since our move from IL, I was concern that I would not be able to find a sushi restaurant that had quality fish and never having to worry about seafood poisoning. This is the one. I have been here a total of 7 times since my visit and never been disappointed with a meal. The key is to make a reservation or else you might be stuck waiting on the benches during peak time. I have always gone with the large sushi boat which has a mix of sashimi, nigiri, and a roll; however, with all that rice, I have now opted for the sashimi boat only which comes with a bowl of hot rice as well. The fish itself has never been anything but fresh. The salmon is quite fatty and tasty. Service itself also is not bad and food prep time can range from average to the longer side depending on how busy. We have also had the tempura and teriyaki salmon which is cooked perfectly. The tempura batter is light and the ingredients used are fresh. The teriyaki salmon is not overcooked and comes skin on with a perfect crisp balanced with the sweetness of the teriyaki sauce. Pros: best fresh sushi in town, good prices Cons: no bento box at dinner, tight parking spots, small waiting area, long wait time without a reservation Hidden deals: None
