"This Design District coffee shop has millennial friendly decor down and is the kind of place to be industrious or a slacker. Have a snack and feel inspired by the other folks pecking away at their laptops or sit and daydream in the light-filled space." - Courtney E. Smith

The free valet parking attracted us and only added to the wonderful experience. Service was prompt, the fall drink flight was incredible and the menu is fresh and unique. I had the steak hash which was flavorful and filling. The smokey sauce was delicious and set the meal off. A glass of ice water would have been nice, I'm not into room temp water, but other than that it was perfection ❤️

We loved our first breakfast at Ascension Coffee so much that we returned the next day! The ambiance of this restaurant, which is walking distance from the many hotels in the area, is so relaxed. We loved the decor, the big windows, and the welcoming vibe. The menu is extensive and clearly labeled. I had the protein brekky the first day, which was very substantial for $11. In fact, I couldn't eat it all and I typically have a healthy appetite. I had the sunrise bowl on the second visit and it was perfect. So, so good if you're looking for something sweet, crunchy and a little decadent. Both mornings I had a matcha latte with oat milk and honey to wash things down. My family also loved their meals, which included the simple breakfast (both visits), the cheddar bacon and egg sammie (both days), the fried chicken sammie (first day) and the granola bowl (second day). Chai lattes were repeated by two people on the second day, whereas my daughter had a caramel frappe (no coffee) on day one and a hot chocolate on day two. The fact that day two was 50% repeats told me just how much everyone enjoyed their meals. Service is super friendly, but relaxed. Great if you're on vacation (like we were), but maybe not if you're in a hurry.

Food was super delicious BUUUT the holiday coffee was not. Also, idk if our waiter was having a bad day or what but he made us feel like we were bothering him just by being there lol super awk. Will not being going back—I can find delicious food and great service somewhere else.

Google
Very nice place! I missed the atmosphere of European cafes in Dallas and luckily I found Ascension Coffee! Friendly staff who really like what they are doing, positive attitude. Big variety of drinks and beverages. I ordered coffee to go, it was good but too sweet on my taste. Next time will come back for a lunch!

This is a mood type restaurant. The food was good, the service was polite, they are missing high chairs for kids, but I guess it's not a family friendly area for small children. The atmosphere was great, it reminded me of the early 00's to late 2010. Music and art was pleasant listening and watching, kinda nostalgic music since we grew up with it. The coffee was good, no complaints about that at all. They go extra on the food to ensure satisfaction.

Been here multiple times, enjoyed it every time. Great place to hang out with friends and get good coffee and food. They have various different lattes to try from and I have mostly like everything I tried so far.

We enjoyed our breakfast and coffee at the Ascension. We ate here on Tuesday morning. It was fairly busy. We ended up parking down the street and walking to the restaurant because the parking spaces were mostly being used by the valet. It does say the valet parking is free—but we didn’t realize that until later. When we entered there wasn’t a sign about sitting wherever you want so we waited at the hostess station while one of the servers was organizing the flatware. She walked off and never told us to just choose a table. Another server came over and apologized for our wait and confusion. He helped us get to a table and gave us menus. We waited for about 10 minutes for a server to come over to take our order. Again the same server came to help take our order, but it seemed that it wasn’t his table and another server was supposed to have helped us. The food was delicious. I had the steak hash and the doki doki. The doki doki was great tasting, but the size seemed ridiculously small. I ordered an iced Americano to go, and it was fantastic as well (and a good amount). All in all, I would recommend this place. I think it was just a bad day for miscommunication on service. There are outlets at many of the tables. We saw many people working or studying. The bathrooms were clean. It has a fun atmosphere, and although we ate inside, we saw outside seating as well.

Google
My absolute favorite coffee shop. I love that they take your order at the table so you don't have to worry about leaving your things. The staff is amazing and the perfect amount of attentive. The drinks are made with care and consistent every time. Highly recommended.

Brittney T.

Yelp
I always love Ascension! Came here to pick up a go hi order and it was a great experience as always. My order was not only ready, but it was correct including the additional things I placed in the notes because it wasn't an option in the system! I had the migas with vegan chorizo and added tortilla. Also had the blueberry muffin which is literally my favorite muffin! It's SO good! I ended up doubling back in the afternoon with friends because it was close to where we were. I had the espresso flight and fries. The fries were great once we had them remade. Our server was awesome! She gave great recommendations! The place wasn't too packed at the time so the vibe was chill. I enjoyed the drinks and the opportunity to try something different! The club soda to cleanse the palate was perfect!

Jasmine L.

Yelp
Very popular brunch spot!! I had made a reservation through Yelp, but they said they don't take reservations on the weekend. So make sure you show up ready to wait in that case. However, we got lucky and were seated shortly after we arrived because someone had just left! The space is big with tables, couches, nooks, chairs, and also a tiny reading corner! There's also outdoor seating! The matcha latte with oat milk was good, as was the espressos martini flight!! I got the brekky power bowl, which was very filling and a perfect mix of healthy ingredients! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive too! If you don't valet park, it's hard to find street parking. Amazing place overall!

Sam B.

Yelp
Excellent coffee and espresso drinks plus a good selection of food, a wider selection and better quality than you'll find at most coffee shops. Ascension roasts their own beans and their drinks are better balanced than most coffee shops. Parking is the only real negative of this Design District location. There's not a lot of self parking but they do have a free valet. When you enter, you can go to the coffee bar at the left for to-go orders or go right, grab a menu, and seat yourself for dine-in service. A server will come by to take your drink and food orders. My lavender latte with hemp milk had an excellent lavender flavor and was nice and balanced, not too sweet or overpowering of the espresso. The Mediterranean Salad was excellent as well. I've had other drinks and food at Ascension in the past and have always enjoyed what I had.

Lawrencia L.

Yelp
The restaurant has free valet. The server was great and confirmed we enjoyed our food. I had a fried chicken sandwich and added bacon with fries. The fries weren't fresh, so the kitchen prepared us new fries which were much better. I also had a dulce de leche espresso martini and it was delicious. I would come back here. It's a nice place to hang out even if you are working.

A D.

Yelp
More than just a coffee shop. There's a counter for carryout but also dine-in options. Coffee is so good and strong. Ordered a veggie omelet. It was delicious. Waitress was very kind. I'm coming back for sure.

Victoria J.

Yelp
Super cute spot with quick grab and to options as well as a full service restaurant. Great service and the food was delicious. But the espresso martini flight stole the show hands down. Their espresso martini flights rotate with the season so we got the holiday ones and they were AMAZING!

Jenna M.

Yelp
Food is good. Coffee is good. Service is slow. They have coffee flights!!! That just makes me excited. We got the holiday coffee flight. It comes with 3 coffees and a seltzer water. I really enjoyed the peppermint mocha, wasn't a huge fan of holiday cookie or gingerbread. I had the power bowl for breakfast and it was good and different. The chickpeas in it were interesting but I did enjoy it. I added some bacon. Can't go wrong there! Others at the table got the breakfast sandwich, the migas, and the brunch burger. All were good. Give this place a try! However, come early. It got busy and that's when service got very spotty. Parking lot is also busy and they do offer valet.

Anokhy D.

Yelp
We went the morning after Thanksgiving for a quick coffee and saw their brunch menu, which brought us back to dine in the following morning! I'm glad we came because their holiday latte flight was delightful. I also got the quiche with side salad. It was packed inside but we saw that the outdoor patio was open (it was pretty cold but we bundled up) and ended up getting a river front view during brunch.

Kelsey K.

Yelp
Came here with some friends for brunch. We were seated promptly. Service was a bit slow but that's Kay we had fun chatting. This location is so cute I had never been to this one. Much more of a brunch spot then the downtown location. I got the Carmel frappe which was delicious! I also got the bacon egg and cheese on a croissant, sooo good! My friend got the triple onion bagel and loved it! The sweet potato hash did come out a bit cold. Overall I'd come back again

Andrea T.

Yelp
Host had a unnecessary attitude which set the tone for the slow and unmotivated customer service-- the staff didn't seem attentive or caring towards the customers, often forgetting things and not checking to see if people waiting had received their food/drinks. Once we mentioned still needing my breakfast sandwich it was found already ready--just sitting there. Overall the food/coffee was amazing, which is why I wouldn't give less stars but can we do better? w your staff especially not caring attitude-- we were "To go" mind you, because the server/host (long hair tied up--in black) who asked us awkwardly if we "thought we were about to try to dine in" bc the tables were full (not a greeting or welcome) was eye rolling just ab everything since we walked in, when he would get food from kitchen say a few things look around then boom another eyeroll The guy was offputting -__-

Jennifer T.

Yelp
I'll definitely be stopping by again! Despite it being a busy afternoon, the service was quick. Good eats and coffee! Highly recommend trying the Brekky Power Bowl! Only downside to this location would have to be its very limited parking especially during busy days.

Rachel R.

Yelp
I love ascension! They have Great food! Great atmosphere! Good place for coffee, work, lunch or brunch! I love the bowls for lunch or the Mediterranean wrap & for breakfast the coffee!!! Aussie bacon egg roll & the avocado toast with poached eggs on top of delicious Grain Bread! Can't go wrong with just about any of the specials!

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Quick trip to Texas and we found this spot within walking distance. When we walked in we were greeted by servers in passing saying we could be seated wherever we liked. We saw a mixture of people working with laptops or seated casually with friends/family. The decor was simple, mixed decor with some feathery touches on lamp shades, simple colors on the walls. My husband decided on the brunch burger added an egg to his meal & a horchata latte. I tried an ascension omelette with ham and veggies, first ordering a strawberry matcha but preferring the horchata latte. The server was happy to swap my drink out and correct my order when it initially came out incorrect. Overall was a good experience, nice brunch spot to stop into with friendly servers, a decent amount of menu options for all tastebuds and dietary needs.

Katalina P.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick matcha pick up. It's open seating and they have another line for take out. The parking lot is crowded but they have few designated spots for take out and offer valet as well. The matcha was delicious! I've had Ascension at another location before. I'd recommend the iced drinks over the hot.

Winta E.

Yelp
This is a great place to grab coffee and breakfast. The staff here is so kind and welcoming! I love the horchata latte and the veggie sammie.

Caroline Z.

Yelp
Aussie Sandwich, Turkey Club with Caesar Salad Not bad. Aussie sandwich was good as usual. Turkey club was a little dry. Caesar salad was not bad, standard

Charles P.

Yelp
First: Keep the tables wiped down so that customers do not arrive to dirty tables covered in remnant crumbs, butter, and left overs. Second: keep menus wiped off so customers do not receive menus with remnants. Third: good job of greeting customers. Keep that up. That was the only reason I stayed to check out the food. Atmosphere decent because of the greeting that was proffered.

Sylvia A.

Yelp
Pretty great vibes! 1. Love that the free valet 2. Top notch drinks and coffee 3. Food can be a bit hit or miss for me but I will say when I went with a big group everyone finished their plates 4. I think the price is reasonable for the area 5. Great working spot with lots of places to charge your laptop, good wifi or even take meetings and it's not too loud

Amy Y.

Yelp
My absolutely favorite remote work place. Plenty of seating with plugs. Great service. Great food & coffee selection. Pro tip: there's a free parking lot behind the apartments right by the shop.

Marcus P.

Yelp
The food was ok.. it's the environment. I enjoyed myself in this relaxing and work stimulating atmosphere. The server wasn't annoying. Meaning, he didn't constantly come to me each minute while I was there disturbing my work. When I was ready to order he was on it! And even though it was a packed house, I was still able to concentrate because the noise level wasn't loud. As for the food, it was simply okay. For the price I expected a burst of flavor in each bite. The omelette asked for more seasonings and not to be burnt. Yes, an omelette is burnt when the outside is brown. It was also folded like a taco rather than a burrito. A taco omelette does now exist! It wasn't good though. I didn't finished it! What I did finish was the mimosa! I'll try the food again because of the service and atmosphere.

Sharon S.

Yelp
My spot for the best bacon egg croissant ! Coffee is fantastic too and the pancakes are Perfect . The staff is also very friendly .

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Came here for a second time on a Saturday morning around 11 AM. I was really craving their coconut Chia seed pudding that I had last time. Parking was very full and there is a valet, but we ended up parking on the street around the corner. Inside was not as full as the parking Strawberry Matcha latte (hot) - very evident Matcha and strawberry flavor. Very nice flavor and presentation. I would definitely recommend this and would get again. Lavender latte (cold) - Evident lavender flavor. Espresso Cruffin - Like a stuffed croissant. Very nice flavor inside. Very light and flakey. A nice small sweet treat. Would recommend. House cured salmon Benedict (no arugula) - Poached easy eggs were cooked perfectly. The caper hollandaise sauce pairs perfectly with the smoked salmon and the tomato helps cut the saltiness of the dish. The toast was quite crispy & stretchy and difficult to cut with the knife IMO. Potatoes were soggy, but very nicely seasoned and had good flavor. I was thoroughly satisfied with this dish. I would recommend and get again. Overall, this place hasn't failed to please. Service is always really great. Food has a unique spin on classics, has good flavors, as well as presentation. The environment and atmosphere is casual, with a slight relaxed and welcoming bohemian feel. I looked forward to trying other things on their menu. I would recommend this place and I would come back.

Yelp
Looked for a breakfast spot near an appt i had later and stumbled upon this one. The location has complimentary valet so be sure to use that. The restaurant is great for a quick bite some coffee or to do school work/ business in. I had the migas and that was amazing. They use sweet potatoes vs russet and that was a great change to the norm. The horchata latte is highly recommended snd tastes exactly like you'd want. It's not to loud and spaced out enough so you can easily have a simple conversation no matter the size of your party

Cherryl B.

Yelp
This Ascension location is one of my favorites, not sure if it's the first, but it's my original. Coffee is great, most importantly. Food, consistently excellent - I love the sweet potato hash. And service is always nice. The remodel and larger space here is wonderful as well, just too bad they can't create about 50 more nearby parking spots!

Annette F.

Yelp
Horchata latte. Delicious. Cali burrito (on weekend menu), delicious. This came with dipping sauces that were so yummy on the burrito. Only disappointment was that a kid's pancake was $6, only comes with a piece of bacon, might be nice if it came with an egg. Some substitutions were also not available, given the vibe, you'd expect there would be more available meat substitutions. Over all, it's a nice vibe. Our server was attentive, but it was also not super busy. Went on a Saturday morning for breakfast.

Luz C.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday morning to grab breakfast/brunch. I ordered the horchata latte and my bf ordered the mocha latte. I really enjoyed the horchata latte flavor but it was overly sweet. I didn't get a chance to try the mocha latte but my boyfriend loved it. I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was incredible. The potatoes were delicious as well. My boyfriend ordered the salmon Benedict and it looked really good too. They used a thick piece of bread in the salmon Benedict instead of English muffins. Our waitress was super sweet but she didn't check up on us/took a long time to bring the check. Ambiance was pretty nice, it's pretty loud in here. If you're trying to do any work make sure to bring headphones!

Jasmine Y.

Yelp
Came here back to back just because I love the location, ambiance, service, and of course the food! With the recommendation from Andrew, I got the Latin grain bowl with seared chicken! I enjoyed it and all of the amazing veggies that made this dish filling.

Kamela K.

Yelp
I opted to sit outside however no one took our order in a timely manner. They have heated lamps outside that's out of propane. I'm honestly disappointed. No matter how many people is inside this is beyond unacceptable

Rose G.

Yelp
I come here very often and always enjoy it. I love the food, love the service, and the location. Love how they greet me and my dog as well. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to go out for brunch or just go read/work on work stuff. They have a patio and plenty of seats inside. Thank you Kalvin for always being on top of things, service is much appreciated. 10/10

Gisele L.

Yelp
Omg I stopped by after a day of museums with My little brother. The food was amazing and the coffee was delicious. The place is very trendy with cool Vibes

Rhys O.

Yelp
Cute and comfy atmosphere, great service, with plenty of delicious offerings! Highly recommend the London Fog, the Cali Burrito, the Salmon Benedict, and the Espresso Martini flight!

Taylor S.

Yelp
This is our go to coffee shop!! Service is always good and are drinks tasty! It might be a minute for your drink to get to you but it's normally worth the wait. Tried the Mediterranean chicken wrap today and I was very good 10/10!

Briane J.

Yelp
This place was cute and so quaint. We just wanted a small filler before dinner. Our server was so cool and matched the vibes of the place. We got here later in the day so it was calm and right in time for a happy hour drink that they offer! Would stop in here again next time we visit Dallas!

Sean O.

Yelp
Good: The from-desk service, hospitality and ambiance looks festive and promising! Bad: The seated service was underwhelming. Verdict: We will be back to give them a 2nd try.

Jeannine C.

Yelp
I'm so glad I found this place on yelp to have breakfast at while I was visiting this area of Texas.:) I found it very unique that this coffee house offers breakfast, brunch, wine and the most decadent, rich, flavorful coffees ever. If your a pumpkin, dark chocolate, mocha, or any other rich flavored coffee person you'll love this place. The blends as well as the coffee menu is very unique an aesthetically pleasing. The food was great and the customer service was of high standard. They have seating inside as well as outside. and the decorations inside make you feel as though you are in a high end restaurant.

Adriana C.

Yelp
The food is very mid to say the least. It lacks flavor and just not great. I got the Migas and chicken sandwich and the migas had absolutely no flavor. For chorizo this is surprising. The chicken sandwich also wasn't very good and without hot sauce would've not been great. The fries were just okay. We got our meal before our mimosas. We didn't get our mimosas until we were half way done with our meal and had to ask 3 times. Def won't be back.

Kimberly C.

Yelp
I continue to give this place a chance. Every time, SLOW service & slow on food. Today, served cold Benedict. Couldn't tell anyone bc no one came by or was around. We had to get up and get our coffee from batista bar and had to get up to find someone to give us a to go box. One server, 7 tables and ABSOLUTELY NO HELP, no hostess, no busses. I come from F&B background (decade). If you are going to run short staffed, a MANAGER needs to have the 1 SERVER'S BACK. It has been like this everything I come. The servers are always over run and without support. They do try really hard to be pleasant. it

Mckensay S.

Yelp
Staff is incredibly attentive and friendly. Food is incredible. Coffee and beverage options are next level. I had the brekky power bowl (pictured) and am now addicted. We sat outside in the cute shaded greenery filled porch with our dogs (who were happily greeted and given pup cups by the staff). Could not recommend this place enough!

Bailey B.

Yelp
Ran in here after eating at next door Meddlesome Moth to grab some caffeine to power through the afternoon. The interior is very bright and airy, with more seating than I expected. It's pretty loud inside, so not sure if this is really the right space to read or work. More of a brunch vibe than a coffeeshop vibe, which is fine! They have a full menu with breakfast and lunch options, and breakfast is served all day. The service was very sweet and polite, but sadly pretty slow. It felt like we were standing waiting for the two lattes we ordered for a long time. I thought the price was reasonable though. I ordered an iced salted caramel mocha latte. The coffee flavor was pretty good, and I got the mocha, but sadly no trace of salted caramel in the flavor profile. Still, it was a decent drink that got the job done. They have a couple other locations around Dallas, and their menu looks pretty good. Might be worth a try if the vibe is to your liking!

Will H.

Yelp
One of the best breakfasts that I have ever had. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Not a fan of the coffee, sorry.

Candace L.

Yelp
I stopped in around 4p on a Sunday and snagged a barstool. Service was 5 STAR!!! So friendly and cute! I had the Horchata latte with oatmilk, a must! and a brekke croissant sandwich to hold me over until dinner later that evening since I hadn't had very much to eat this day. I have a feeling Ascension will be my new go to place! I hope all locations are equally as amazing as this location and their staff were. Did I mention their Espresso Martini??? Yea! You're gonna need one of those ;)

Alex S.

Yelp
Good coffee, service was neutral and pretty slow. Pretty expensive as well. Classy atmosphere

Ashley C.

Yelp
First of all, when Ascension was one building, back before they decided they needed growth, everything was amazing. The coffee was always fresh and the food offerings were amazing. Went to the Design District location this morning because I saw on Tik Tok that they had a holiday coffee flight and, if I'm anything, I'm a bougie coffee girlie! Horrible disappointment. The white chocolate mocha peppermint latte was way too mocha-y, the holiday cookie latte tasted like synthetic alcohol, and the yule brew tasted like they dipped a chai bag into water for two seconds before serving. Then the brunch. My husband's lox bagel was the best thing ever. Delicious. However, my chicken and waffles.... Chicken was okay. Nothing special. At least it wasn't dry like the waffle. Cardboard. Absolute trash and syrup didn't even soften it up. When the staff asked how everything was, we told them it wasn't good and we were very disappointed. We were told "Sorry about that. That'll be $50". Not even an offer to comp. I just feel like there's absolutely no love put into the menu here. It's based off whatever will sell and then rushed out to appease people when all we really want is good food and customer service.

India F.

Yelp
This is my second time coming & I'm really just not impressed. The grilled chicken sandwich was just ok, no flavor but the white poblano soup was really good. I came here for vibes to work so that was cool. My server Adrian was 5/5 but the food here isn't great. I would come for wine & coworking vibes.

Emily G.

Yelp
Overall seems like a good brunch spot in Dallas. The coffee was good, the food for us was hit or miss. I ordered the Ascension brew (coffee) and it was the first time I tasted coffee so fruity! I almost wonder if they added something to it, but I didn't end up asking. I also tried the pandan latte, which was good and had a subtle pandan flavor. I think it's a normal amount of sweet, but too sweet for me and my partner. My partner ordered the fried chicken and waffles, it honestly didn't look good and the chicken was hard to cut. Our friends ordered the Aussie sandwich (which looked really good), and some bagels/croissant (average). Not too many people when we went (before 10am on a Sunday) and it seemed like a spot you could do work/study when it's not busy. Service was friendly.

Sydni P.

Yelp
We stayed at a hotel nearby for a weekend....I came to Ascension 6 or 7 times over 48 hours. The service was excellent, food was great, coffee was fantastic, staff was friendly and smiling, manager was kind and attentive to patrons and his staff....I could go on and on and on. If you're in the area, go see them. You won't be disappointed!

Elaine M.

Yelp
Was nearby for a camera show and wanted to grab some coffee. I love that there is 10 min take out parking available just for these quick pick ups. I didn't know the menu but ordered an americano and their bahkti chai latte. Because I saw the gigantic chocolate chip cookie in the case, I had to get one! So I don't know if it was just a very busy time or what, I got an iced americano (different size) than I ordered. They were nice to redo my order right away! Their chai latte has a stronger 'spice' than usual and I really liked that. But what I liked even more was that I could get it with almond milk. Overall a good experience, need to try some of the food items, the orders coming out looked quite good!

Winnie Y.

Yelp
This was my husband and I's first stop for some coffee after arriving in Dallas. I saw lots of great recommendations online and it was near the airport which was perfect for us. We got our food to go since we wanted to get on the road. We had a terrible time finding parking and there was construction at their intersection so it did not make parking somewhere else and walking to it easy. The employee was not friendly at all and even cut me off before I was done speaking. My cold brew and with cold cream was just meh, my lemon blueberry scone was good.

Adriana B.

Yelp
this place was so cute AND good. I got the misas, my husband got the steak hash & our daughter got the kids french toast. the mood was relaxed, it was beautiful, the service was great & the food was good!! thank you.
