Asha's Manchester

This place has the most exquisite menu on the list. We tried their butter chicken and other dishes. The taste was authentic, bursting with flavors. We visited in 2024. The rotis are very soft and buttery. They accommodated our request to adjust for kids menu to customize our request. We highly recommend it. We usually avoid ordering desserts at Indian restaurants. However, this place highly recommended it and we tried abd ordered multiple servings. Unlike other Indian places, thos restaurants have their chutney freshly made.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. 4 of us dined here and we all loved everything. We particularly enjoyed the skewers salmon tikka, delicious. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The price was reasonable at £18-£25 per main course and £7 for a pint of Cobra & £5 glass of prosecco. Definitely worth a visit.

Has got to be the best Indian food out there. Impeccable service and delicious food. The staff took excellent care of us right from arrival till the time we were done. Would highly recommend.

If your looking for an authentic Indian experience, this is not your place. Let me start by saying the food is not bad, it’s just not authentic. No spice, bland and not enough flavour. Indian food is an experience. It should get your taste buds going. The Amritsar fish, well, if you had given this to a local in Punjab, they would probably laugh in your face. You know when your the only Indian in the place. It’s a shame because you look around and you wish you could tell everyone that if you think this is good….you haven’t seen nothing yet. Lamb chops were not tender but had flavour. Malai chicken was bland Lamb curry was tasty but the it was not lamb. It was not tender and melt in your mouth Aubergine curry was very bland. No flavour. Guntar chicken was amazing. Really rich vibrant sauce, and good level of heat. This was a dish I would go back to. Lamb biriyani was above average, good flavour and the lamb was more tender. Yes I understand it’s for a certain clientele but this is not a place that is worthy of its rewards. It’s food catered for the very mildest of pallets and I would not return.

Impressively delicious 👍🏻 First of all I have to say.. I’m not a fan of Indian cuisine but the foods here are so good that it lit up the night even more! We’re in Manchester to watch a game on the boxing day. Man U our team won 3:1! We decided to dine here because it’ll be quite too late to have a dinner back in London. We found it much better than our expectations! The place is nicely decorated. Friendly and well trained staffs. One thing that might be inconvenient is that the restrooms are downstairs but it’s sure very clean. Papadum is very good that I have to double the orders! All is good here. Very recommended!

Went here on Saturday there were 4 of us eating. The service from Yogesh was fantastic he could not do enough for us. The food was amazing. I had the whole tandoori spring chicken for main an it was beautifully cooked. My wife said it’s probably the best Lamb curry she’s ever had. The only negative as such is the bill lol £276 for a curry, it is Manchester though and I would go again for a special occasion.

Lovely experience. Got all we wanted...and more than expected from what was our 15th Anniversary lunch. Absolutely loved ourselves for picking Asha's to celebrate. Our first time there we booked early but had an afterthought, today being the reopening day after a few weeks break post their Christmas rush. But..were given no opportunity to regret..it was a splendid welcome, confirmed full menu service right on arrival, plus we were pampered with attention from Shivraj throughout. Extremely pleased by the service. He struck nice little enjoyable conversations, made us feel special and welcome. Drinks were awesome, had a few speciality cocktails. Berry Martini, a Hot Rita short, complimented the amristari fish and chilli garlic prawns splendidly well. Main course was equally enjoyable, perfect portions of rogan josh lamb curry, naan and roti. No oversized surprises, thanks again to Shivraj's timely tips and managing expectations at time of the order. Overall a lovely afternoon, memorable experience perfect for the occasion. All thanks again to Shivraj and his team in the kitchen for thoughtfully gifting us a complimentary decorated dessert, adoringly embellished! Absolutely enjoyed that bit. Would certainly go again!

Excellent service in a very stylish setting. This definitely is not your run-of-the-mill Indian restaurant. Food is very good but portion sizes are rather small. I didn't give the restaurant 5 stars purely based on the fact that your bill can quickly add up... this doesn't reflect on the quality of the food or experience but maybe more on the value and the latter is subjective obviously.

The food was just delicious! We went for pre-theatre menu as it was much better value for money, so I imagine the main menu is even yummier! The portions were of decent size, quite filling! I would defined recommend if you want to higher end Indian restaurant. The service is very attentive, polite and smiley, nothing much to complain about!

This place could be so much more but it really failed to deliver on flavour and service. It's located in the city centre of Manchester and was started by a famous Bollywood singer Asha Bhosle and her husband. They have some locations also in the Middle East. Two floors here the restaurant upstairs and bar downstairs. We booked to take a table in the lounge as it was last minute and it was busy on a Saturday night. The cocktail the waiter made us was great and we ordered some starters and mains off the menu. The ordering took a while as staff were milling about but not paying attention to the tables. The food was pretty ordinary to say the least and the starters were bland and lacked any real flavour the exact opposite to Mumbai Street food. The mains were too sweet and I asked for my dishes spicy :-( the naan bread barely had any garlic on it and all in all a very disappointing meal. Not the sort of curry you expect when you pay good money. I don't think I would ever come here again.

Phenomenal cocktails, set menu, and service. Elegant yet cozy interior. Couldn't have asked for a more delightful experience. I ordered the 2 plate set menu with the meat kebab sampler and the vegetarian main (veggies in a coconut sauce with turmeric and ginger). Also ordered the Hot Sands cocktail, which was like nothing I ever ordered before! It wasn't fruity but also wasn't aggressively alcoholic. Nice fizz and orange notes. Also great value for an extraordinary meal!

Visiting from US for cricket match, we thought try out Asha Bhosle's restaurant. Very disappointed with food, drinks and rude servers. We were 6 persons, ordered veg and non veg. Chicken makhni was awful in taste, made with ready made paste. Rest of veg food was lacking flavour and taste. The drink we ordered was full of ice only, when pointed out the bar manager comes to explain that it is a government policy to make drink that way only. ( what BS). Not only he was lying, he was arrogant and rude There were only 4 groups of guests, the bar was totally empty, but he made it look like he was so busy to give proper service Some friends had warned us about quality of food and service but we thought support Asha's restaurant. Very poor experience at this place

TL;DR - Upmarket Indian cuisine. We came here as a birthday treat for Sparky. We're always hunting for a good curry, so decided to give Asha's a try. First impressions were good - the place is nicely decorated and the staff were very polite and welcoming. We had a table booked but despite being early were seated right away. The venue is split across two floors, with the restaurant upstairs and a bar downstairs. We were seated in the restaurant area. First things first and we were offered some poppadoms and dips. We typically judge a place by the quality of their dips, and this was a really nice treat with some unusual flavours including blueberry and pineapple. So far so good! Service was prompt. We skipped the starters and went straight for our main courses - Sparky had a creamy chicken dish with lots of fenugreek which was really delicious. I opted for a slow cooked lamb dish which was really nice, but there were so many cardamon pods in it that I felt like I spent the whole meal fishing them out. We each had a side of rice and shared a garlic naan bread. Dessert was in the form of a chocolate chilli tart. Can't say we could taste the chilli, but it was utterly delicious nonetheless with a molten centre. Since it was Sparky's birthday, he also got a free slice of cheescake with a candle in (and a rendition of "Happy Birthday" from the staff!). All in all it was a really nice meal in a really nice setting with good service. A couple of rough edges with the food but only minor things and nothing to stop us from coming back. Recommended.

Solid Indian restaurant We like to go to Indian food restaurants in the USA and more so in England, where many Indians are residing and many more restaurants are available. While staying in Manchester, we walked from our hotel to Asha's and had a solid Indian dinner and help by a knowledgeable manager.

We went back to Asha's early this week and compared to what happened last time, there was a remarkable improvement. For starters, it was a Wednesday night and Asha's was packed. We were looked after by Sudhir, the manager and Sumit. Both of them had a good knowledge of the menu and the dishes and offered helpful recommendations. We had a portion each of paneer ka soola and vegetarian kebab platter to start with and got mango-ginger lassis to drink. We were also recommended to try the dal makhani with the paneer. The dishes were very well made, however I was not a fan of the mustard oil marinaded and grilled pineapple, but that's just me and my taste buds. For the mains, we had an artisan bread basket, a rumali roti, a muscat lamb curry, a sub kehkesha (mixed veggie), a hare baingan ka bharta (aubergines) and a jeera rice. I am not a fan of aubergines but based on the general opinion of the family, it was well made. The muscat lamb was amazing and I could go back just for that. I think the bread basket is a nice concept in which you pick upto three different breads (nan, roti etc) to share. The sub kehkesha was excellently made and it went very well with the breads. Overall we had a much improved experience and it appears they are on the right track as it was evident by how busy they were on a Wednesday night. I hope they continue to maintain these levels of service and quality in the days to come.

Asha's sets itself apart as a fine dining and contemporary Indian restaurant and focuses on an intimate dining experience rather than your traditional Indian restaurant. The interior hints at it's Asian origins but does not scream it from the rooftops. Upon inspection of the menu we realised that this is part of a chain of restaurants setup by Asha Bhosle who is a famous singer especially in Hindi Cinema. The main restaurant upstairs was completely booked and reservations were need which itself is not surprising in Manchester on a Saturday evening though we did arrive quite early (around 6pm) the staff were very accommodating and offered us a table in the downstairs bar 'BolliBar' this was very welcomed and we headed downstairs. BolliBar is a little less fancy and intimate than the upstairs seating but is still pleasant. We ordered the Mushroom Kurkure and Murgh Malai Kebab to share as starters. the kebab was quite tasty being slightly smoky, which made me think it may have at least been finished off in the tandoor and served with an apple chutney. The Mushroom Kurkure was nice but didn't stand out as much though it had an interesting creamy sauce made with cinnamon which made it a bit more interesting. We had ginger mango lassi's with our starters which were extremely tasty, at first you could barely taste the ginger but it came through once you gave your drink a stir and it wasn't too strong a taste as it can often be if added freshly. I chose the Muscat Ghost as my main and this was by far the highlight for me. I'm not sure if Muscat in this instance refers to the dessert wine or the city in Oman as I've noted since on the website for Asha's Restaurant that they have several locations in the Middle East nearby to but not in Oman itself. Either way the Ghost did not disappoint it was spicy but not hot and the gravy was rich an moreish and it did have a hint for me of port or a deep red wine but this is likely just the mix of spices used. There are a few things which meant they dropped to the 3 stars you see which had nothing to do with the food which on it's own warrants a 4 star rating. Firstly a second round of drinks were brought out to us by mistake. They also made a mistake with the types of bread we ordered with our meals. So its more about a concerning lack of communication between the staff. Now that being said in both instances they happily took the fault themselves and we weren't charged for these mistakes and in fact we had a second round of drinks without being charged for them and ended up with an extra bread, but in a fine dining restaurant you don't expect these kinds of mistakes to be made. The prices were also a little higher than normal though not ridiculous most curries being £15-16 which increases your expectations of the food and whilst everything was very nice it wasn't spectacular and I have eaten just as well in some well known suburban Indian restaurants at two thirds of the price. This could be explained by it's city centre location but these factors wouldn't draw me back in immediately.

I have to say this place really impressed me! Having only been open less than a week it was rather quiet when we visited on Tuesday evening but the decor,the quality of the food and the service were all exceptional. My only criticism would be the modern music in the background as it would be more ambient and fitting to play traditional Indian music. They've clearly spent money on the decor....gold curtains and black and gold tones throughout. The toilets even get a thumbs up! The bar area downstairs is lovely and don't be fooled as you walk past thinking no one is in there...the restaurant is upstairs tucked away. I ordered a jalfrezi and it was delicious,cooked to the strength I requested and the breads and poppadoms were ace too. The staff were very accommodating and happy to give recommendations. Overall I would definitely recommend this curry house and I will be back when I'm next in Manchester!

Indian fine dining experience! Delicious food! From the chutneys to naan bread you will taste a positive difference in what you have eaten so far around in the town. Of course I can only comment on the vegetarian food!

Great location and interior is well appointed. However the service is awesome and food is off the chart authentic.

Really delicious food.. Can't go wrong with chicken tikka masala & garlic nan. But this place made it exceptionally well. Very fresh ingredients. Wonderful staff. Beyond attentive and friendly. Lovely atmosphere too!

Food is below average. We ordered delivery and couple of entrees were missing. There are much better Indian restaurants in the area, skip this one.
