"Among the newest tenants to occupy the second floor of the Siren Hotel, Ash—Bar’s aperitivo (happy hour) offers $9 classic cocktails, $9 beer and amaro shot, and $9 wine pours. Snacks range from small bites, like cilantro lime popcorn, to a classic coney dog and even a Caesar dog (think Caesar salad atop a Vienna beef dog). Hours: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily." - Courtney Burk

Delicious food in a fun retro cafe setting. The attention to detail in all of the food was readily apparent, although the prices definitely reflect that. Everything I had was delightful, although I wished there was a bit more of each serving. My biggest complaint was that the potion sizes weren't obvious at all from the menu, and the differences in the amount of food between the entree options was surprising. With all of the delicious food, the one that stood out the most to me was the bread, which was better than any I have been served as an appetizer before. The biggest advantage of this place is that it's not well known, and I was able to get reservations when everywhere else was booked, although even with a reservation and with the restaurant only half full, we were still seated at an incredibly tiny booth.

Small retro bar with a great selection of craft cocktails and amazing service within the Siren Hotel. We had such an amazing experience here and cannot wait to come back. We sat at the bar on A Friday afternoon and ordered two Martinis which were amazing (Pics), we also ordered the Ham and Cheese and it was very tasty. I ordered a Manhattan which was also made to perfection. They have a great happy hour as well and the decor is so cool and makes you feel like you are back in 1960s Detroit. All of the Bartenders and people in the restaurant were so friendly and welcoming. Must stop place if you want a good cocktail in Detroit.

We stayed at the Siren and enjoyed the great atmosphere at the Ash Bar for happy hour. Excellent service, drinks, and food. The aioli with the pomme frites is amazing! Highly recommend!

We recently had the pleasure of visiting Ash Bar, and I must say it was a remarkable experience. The star of the night was undoubtedly the bartender, Alejandro, whose skills and creativity with cocktails were truly exceptional. He took our preferences into account and crafted drinks that were not only visually stunning but also packed with incredible flavors. Alejandro’s knowledge and passion for mixology shone through in every cocktail he prepared. His dedication to his craft made the evening all the more enjoyable, as he went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. The ambiance at Ash Bar was welcoming, and the overall service was top-notch. I can confidently say that I’ll be coming back for more of Alejandro’s incredible cocktails and the wonderful atmosphere. If you’re in search of a memorable night out, Ash Bar is the place to be. Thank you, Alejandro, for making our visit truly special!”

We had an absolutely amazing evening out. The drinks were phenomenal, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the food was out of this world. I would definitely recommend the espresso martini. We got the fritto misto, which was so light and fried to perfection, and caesar salad, which had a truly flavorful dressing. Best burger ever, the pappardelle was delicious, and the desserts were to die for. The coconut tart is what dreams are made of. The mint green interior was so chic, perfect for a girl's or date night. Outstanding chefs and attentive service. We will be coming back again many times.

Solid. I hope not too many people find out how nice Ash Bar is. Right now it’s a bit of a hidden gem. On the second floor of the Siren Hotel and you need to know where to go to get there. When you find it you get good service and thoughtful choices from the menu. The atmosphere feels casual but looks really nice. They have quiet booths and window seats and seats at the bar and they all looked good, but we sat at the windows. I think my favorite thing was how sincere the people were who waited on us, I felt like I knew them.

Came here for brunch and was completely satisfied. Food is a 10/10. Eggs cooked right, fantastic pancake batter recipe executed just right, and the surprise of the ricotta fritters hit the spot. Best of all? Alexi our waiter was phenomenal and kept that great coffee coming.

Tried this with a group before a concert. Overall good experience. They have happy hour all day on Monday and from 3-6pm the rest of the week. $9 classic cocktails during this time as well as a good burger. Our group also had the agnolotti pasta and the parpadella with mushrooms - really delicious. Braised chicken also good. Would go again for happy hour.

Yelp
Came here for an early Valentine's Day dinner to beat the crowd! It was our first time and we will be back! Our main courses (burger and steak) were good but not amazing... we were more impressed with the pork belly rillons (FANTASTIC) and the delicious and unique flavors of the passionfruit panna cotta. The bread was very good! I felt like the pricing was on par with other restaurants in the area serving a similar experience/food. We loved the ambiance and decor - super cohesive and well done. The main room has a cool view of the city, and you can see the people mover go by the window which was really cool. Our server was very attentive and kind.

Yelp
This place was good before, but it's great now. I love the little decor switch-up - it looks more upscale than the diner thing that was going on before. Lighter colors, a bit more posh. Love it. It was empty on a Monday for lunch, but the food was delicious and the vibe was chill. it didn't have an "empty restaurant" feeling to it, though it was just our table. It's cozy and cute and I for sure will be back - it was fast and delicious and everything was made fresh. I highly recommend for a business type of lunch - check it out. We had the Caesar salad and the fried chicken sandwich, both with fries. Firstly, get the fries - they're thin and crispy and salty and fresh. My brother had the salad and reported it was delicious, and the fried chicken sandwich was pretty perfect. The chicken breast was perfectly cooked, and I was so glad to see it was a breast and not a thigh. Crispy, well-seasoned with a yummy sauce, on fresh toasty white bread. Yum! The lemon aioli for the fries is also very good - they know their sauces. A delicious fast fresh lunch.

Yelp
Food was completely worth it. Doris fans 5 stars on the food. Made a reservation didn't need it. The place barely had any people in it. I was greeted right away. The ambiance was lovely. Reminded me of Emerald City vibes. I was charged the wrong price for my drink. I was apologized to profusely and given my drink for free however I do need to caution please look at your bills due to this mistake. Never hurts to double check! The bartender said he wasn't a bartender or something, didn't know the prices and guessed. He was pleasant. My food was absolutely impeccable. I will go back the food was just wonderful. I highly recommend brunch. I'll post my dinner review soon! Bring the family. Parking is street. Located up stairs of the Siren Hotel. Perfect for a date night. Dress is casual. You could get dressed up to go here, but nothing to worry about you won't be out of place. A bit pricey, for me alone was ok. I did wish I had my best friend with me. He would have loved the menu. So being someone to chat with about how yummy the food is. You won't regret it!! Enjoy !!!!

Yelp
Finally got to try ash bar for brunch and it did not disappoint. Ambience: I would describe ash bar as the memory of a diner. Mid century lamps, mint leather booths, heavy thick ceramic plates and cups all lend a lovely coziness to the space. Food: The menu offered both classics and trendier foods. My partner got the croque madame. I got the 2 eggs with oyster mushrooms and spinach. Absolutely loved the flaky salt and the potatoes were cooked to perfection I would definitely recommend for a cool brunch and I'm excited to check out their dinner menu

Yelp
I've been wanting to visit the Ash-Bar for a few weeks now and I finally made it. I decided to bring my brother-in-law with me since he needed to get out the house. When I first pulled up there was no valet person outside which could've been due to it being a slow day so I didn't worry. I walked in a handed them the keys. You have to go up the stairs to your left to get to the bar and when you walk in it's almost like a time capsule. It gives you an old school feel with an upgrade. I loved it! We sat at the bar and the two most amazing bartenders. So helpful and funny. We ended up ordering the Stuffed Cabbage Soup, Steak Frites, Butter Poached Halibut Cheek, and the Pork Belly Rillons. The food was sooooooooo good. The stuffed cabbage soup took me by surprise. The broth is rich and you can tell it's homemade. Delicious! The Pork belly was just succulent with a kick of spice, the steak was seasoned so well and juicy and the halibut was good also. Flavorful and delicious. Definitely worth giving them a try

Yelp
The menu was limited however we weren't disappointed in the flavors and thoroughly enjoyed every bite.. Our server Catie was helpful with and excellent service.. the ambiance was of old reminders of my childhood tables all 1960's loved it ..

Yelp
We were ready to start our Sunday fun off right! We had heard that the restaurant inside the Siren Hotel had changed ownership so we wanted to give it a try. Apparently, the company that owns the Siren Hotel is called Ash. When you walk into the lobby to the Siren Hotel, there are steps to the left. Go up the steps to the second floor and you will find yourself at the Ash bar. The restaurant is set up exactly as the old one was. They changed the color scheme but that is really about it. We chose to sit at the bar, but we were surprised and disappointed to hear that there was not a real bartender or full bar service. With all of the competitors out there, I'm confused as to why they wouldn't try to make this THE place to be for brunch. I really wanted an espresso martini, but the bartender couldn't. I asked for a Bellini. Nope. I settled for a mimosa. So that was fine. The woman filling in as bartender was very sweet and apologetic. No harm no foul. I just think this is something they need to remedy if they want to succeed. The menu was definitely different. The items seemed to be a bit fancier than traditional bacon and eggs. We both chose to get the "soft scrambled eggs on toast." There were 4 choices, which were were told were sides, but they actually just cook it in with the eggs. They were delicious. No complaints there! The servings were quite large and I was definitely not about to finish mine. We should have split one meal! Overall, there were some glitches, but it's a newly opened restaurant. I just wouldn't call myself a bar if there isn't a bartender. I am a brunch girl and I'm always looking for places to have brunch so I'll come back again and give it a try. You really can't go wrong with mimosas!

Yelp
Is there an option for six stars? This place served the best pasta I have ever had! The mussels were amazing and the ambience was so nice! Our server was very helpful in breaking down the menu and making suggestions. They have a happy hour which is perfect if you want to stop in and just try a few items from the menu. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This is such an interesting restaurant that has gone under the radar. I was captivated by the mint green art deco interior decor. It felt like I was transported to the 1960s. Even though the menu is limited to mostly sandwiches and salads for lunch, I was satisfied with the offerings. The Market Green salad was refreshing with seared peach, radish, and fennel. The sandwich and pommes frites were large enough to split with my friend. Ash-Bar is a quiet place to have an intimate lunch away from the hustle and bustle of downtown.

Yelp
Loved this spot! The inside is so cute, it reminded me of an upscale 50s diner (if that makes sense) but it's not a huge restaurant, so having a reservation here is going to be important. I unfortunately do not remember our waitresses name, but she was super friendly and she didn't rush us, which sometimes is the case in those smaller format restaurants. The food was fantastic! I got the duck and man was it tender, seasoned well, and on top of a yummy set up for a really flavorful meal. My husband got the cheeseburger and said it was cooked perfectly and very good. You get served a daily baked bread, and man was that brioche bread good. The leek butter they serve with it was super tasty as well. Steak Tartare was a first for us, but it was really good. Hopefully we will be back soon!

Yelp
After failing to find a brunch spot on a Saturday morning in which I either needed reservations or to be put on a long wait, I somehow drove by Ash Bar with the hopes that an establishment within a hotel might prove to be a bit less busy. To my delight there was hardly anyone in there. The drink menu and execution was phenomenal. I absolutely adored the lemon fritters. The menu was concise and instilled the belief that anything I ordered ought to be exceptional. My companion and I opted for the paired variety of croques, and right away they both had us eagerly excited to repeat the experience. The service could not have been friendlier or more attentive. I knew I found a new favorite to frequent. To say anything negative; my return for lunch wasn't quite as impressive as the brunch. We both opted for the shaved ribeye sandwiches, but while quite good, the execution was a bit thinner than we had hoped and they weren't particularly wowing in flavor. Wildly, the accompanying chips provided were exceptional though. Last to note on is the decor. My companion absolutely abhorred it, but I find it quite the feat to maintain such a speakeasy diner vibe that can still feel so clean. The pallet is a questionable choice, but I actually don't hate it and think it works well with the concept. I can't wait to come back again for dinner :)

Yelp
Ash Bar is one of my favorite restaurants. They have a great espresso martini and the food is delicious. The pappardelle con funghi, pork belly ribbons, scallops, and cauliflower gnocchi have been some of my favorite dishes thus far. The marinated olives and linguini clams are great too. I love the vibe and decor in Ash Bar. It takes you back in time a bit, in the best way. The service is always great as well.

Yelp
Ash Bar was the destination for a recent girls brunch. We made reservations but didn't really need them. It was a slow Saturday morning. The 50's diner decor in mint green is a lovely setting for a meal. The fritters with lemon curd were delicious and served warm. Started with a mimosa since coffee seemed a bit scarce (if that is possible for a venue that serves brunch). The brunch entrees were delicious and served hot! My friends ordered the pancakes that were a huge hit served with fresh berries. An enjoyable experience. Will be back to try other menu items! Ash Bar is inside The Siren Hotel requiring stairs to access the space.

Yelp
I have a feeling this place is going to pop off, it was delicious and reasonably priced for what you get! The waitress (I think her name was Leah) had great recommendations and was so friendly and attentive. The vibe fits with the rest of the siren, historic/retro/classy the food was amazing! the focaccia and pasta is made in house and i highly recommend. The pappardelle con fungi and the agnolotti were both 10/10. drinks were also delicious and unique. we got 1 app, 2 entrees, 4 drinks, and 2 desserts all for just over $100 and everything was so good. we will definitely come back next time we do a staycation at the siren, or just for fun!

Brendan C.

Yelp
I have dined at Ash--Bar twice, once during their soft opening period and after their grand opening and overall it was a great experience. As a newer restaurant (although taking over the old Karl's Space) I was surprised at how light the crowd was at 8pm on a Friday! I have heard phenomenal things about the location in Baltimore. This place could definitely draw in more people. Hopefully it has increased in the past month or so. Let's get to the food. The food was delicious, service was attentive and both times my servers were very friendly. I'd pass on the steak frites next time, it just wasn't mind blowing for the price point. The Caesar, chicken Milanese, and pappardelle pasta were all delicious. Cocktail program was great as well and I'll definitely be back!

Lauren D.

Yelp
The first time I came here, I was not impressed. My bartender was pretty wack & my Caesar salad was super strong. They didn't have any protein for me to add either after the bartender was the one to even suggest it. Nonetheless, I tried them again a couple weeks ago and had a way better experience. My bartender was much better. Was so knowledgeable about drinks and spirits and things, we had such a good conversation. He definitely changed my opinion and I'm grateful because I really did wanna like this place. I will be back & I hope to have the same bartender.

Marybeth R.

Yelp
We started with olives and almonds. Shrimp bisque was divine! The bread, delicious. Our entrees were steak frite and a lovely pasta fungi. We were delighted. Our server, Lia, was on point, professional, and efficient. The vibe was urban, modern and very Detroit. Desert, homemade buckeyes and pistachio gelato. It was the perfect end to a delightful meal. Yes. I'll be back. There is more to discover at Ash Bar. I haven't even sat at the all-inviting Ash Bar Bar. Go and experience this gem!

kelly k.

Yelp
Food was very marginal and cold (probably will not be back... too many better choices in the neighborhood) Service was fine Ambiance was lacking... think they just put table clothes on the tables and ??? It was a Friday night and the place was maybe 1/3 filled which had us confused why the food was cold. If u are going to offer a $25 burger and fries it better be hot and awesome. Go to Seldon and taste there beef tartar. I couldn't finish mine that I ordered here. The dessert was nice. The salad ok Sorry! Don't give up! Just adjust

Cliff H.

Yelp
My partner enjoyed her meail. I was taken aback by $25 for a cheeseburger... I mean, a burger is a burger. I don't care how shiny the bun is. Not a good value for me. Might try something else next time but I have a hard time patronizing a place that rips its customers off. Service was about what you would expect in the city.

Jon D.

Yelp
We made reservations for dinner last night. Awesome location. The decor, diner style, is great. The view out the window with the People Mover right outside is unique. Excellent, thoughtful service. Food was also quite good. We'll definitely be back!

Ann O.

Yelp
What a great find! We were looking to book a large table before a concert at Little Caesars Arena and chose Ash-Bar. The food was delicious! We all thought the steak tartare was the best we ever had! We all shared appetizers, entrees and desserts so we could try a variety of different things. We really enjoyed everything! Service was outstanding! I'm sorry I didn't get our server's name, she was awesome, gave us great recommendations and was so efficient. Our only complaints are that the drinks took forever! The fact that 3 people ordered beers and the restaurant was not very busy while we were there it really is inexcusable. The restaurant is very nice looking, it actually looks like an old style diner, but with elevated food! This however was ruined by what appeared to be managers working on their laptops at a small table next to the kitchen, kind of distracting when we are there to enjoy ourselves, we really think they should be in an office...or perhaps working the bar to get our drinks out more quickly! Bottom line...food and service for the win! Would definitely recommend this new restaurant!

Julia G.

Yelp
Overall the experience was great! Cheeseburger, risotto, Pappardelle con Fungi were all good! The cauliflower gnocchi was ehh.. it was okay, a little mushy. The crispy mushrooms were my favorite part but kale and sauce were decent! The Pappardelle con Fungi was my favorite out of them all. Fries with a side of the aioli were pretty good too. Service was GREAT, they were so kind and helpful!! Drinks were good as well and strong, I recommend!

Lisa B.

Yelp
This was just OK used to be Karl's diner that was revamped, but it still has a retro diner feel to it. I was extremely disappointed by the vibe the service was excellent! There is only a very small selection of unusual wines.. no Cabernet or basics. The food was pretty good. I had the steak frite.. I felt the steak was over seasoned, and the fries were under salted. Just ok.

Darrell W.

Yelp
Very quaint restaurant atop of the Candy Bar. Great food and impeccable service. Very nice find.

Jodi J.

Yelp
Tiny little place but big on flavors! Perfect location on a night we went to see Wicked right across the street at the Detroit Opera House. My daughter and I went with a Bramble cocktail to start. Excellent! We had the Hungarian stuffed pepper for an appetizer & our main entrees were the Curried Lamb Meatballs and the Sea Scallops. Both were very good. Ended the meal with espresso martinis! It's a little on the pricey side very very good in all aspects!

Isabella B.

Yelp
The drinks were amazing. We came in right after a lions rush for brunch and the food was ehhh. The lemon ricotta app was delicious but the mains were lackluster, not worth the price we paid. Definitely going to come back and give it another try at a different time. The staff was so lovely.

Gordon G.

Yelp
Excellent venue Right across the street from Detroit Opera House. Great food and ambience.

RA P.

Yelp
I've lived in Hong Kong, LA and other cities with hotel-centric socializing, and I'm so excited about Ash. I ordered an interesting wine to pair with the mussels: both were great. My friend had the burger: also great, with homemade aioli and some killer French fries. I've heard lunch is just as good as dinner, will be back (often). Oh, and the waitstaff/bar staff were knowledgeable and helpful. All-around A+ meal.

Yelp
We came in with a party of eight and ordered multiple dishes to share. Our server was very accommodating and the food was very good.
