Ashcroft Ski Touring

Over 800 acres! Lodge is a good spot for a bite or drink. Snowshoe dedicated trail is not vey long. Next time I would cross country ski here. For those that want a sleigh ride, it is offered here

Great groomed trails of all levels and types (X-country, skins, skate), beautiful scenery, restaurant on the trail, and warming huts. Staff is great!

Skiing at the Ashcroft Ski Touring nordic area is pure bliss. The trails are beautifully manicured for both track and skate skiing. Bring your own food or eat at the Pine Creek Cookhouse. Enjoy!

Website says ski rental is available from thanksgiving to April, we arrived to cross country ski on 12/10 and were rudely turned away by the staff saying they were not open till 12/13. Waste of our day.

If I could give this company zero stars I would… Given that there is a pandemic currently, we requested a private carriage... not only did they not accommodate this request, they had scheduled other couples on the same tour, not abiding by social distancing guidelines… (We are a group of 5+). Not only did the carriage leave early, but when we try to seek a resolution the manager was incredibly rude and disrespectful and went so far as to tell us that we were not welcome, which is both unprofessional and just flat out disgusting. I will be seeking a complaint against this company with the Better Business Bureau as I’ve never been more respect disrespected in my life.

f you are ignorant tourists with no mountain experience, rent an AWD SUV and do the sleigh ride. Definitely do not do the cross-country skiing! To get to the Ashcroft ranch you have to drive about 12 miles down an occasionally plowed, snow packed, narrow, mountain road. If you are in a front-wheel drive, economy car and it starts snowing very hard you might get stuck on the road or the ranch parking lot. The Pinebrook restaurant is 1.5 miles from the Ascroft Center where you rent the cross-country skis, snow shoes, take the sleigh ride or just walk to the restaurant. Sounds simple but if you have no experience with cross country skis you won't know how to put them on or take them off let alone turn and stop. No one from the center showed us how to put the skis on or take them off. If they would have done that it would have been helpful but it seemed like they wanted us to take the lesson just for those simple instructions. If we would have known that we could have read/youtubed about how to do the basics of cross country skiing and it would have been hugely valuable. But we still would have been exhausted going 1.5 miles at 9500 ft elevation in 14 degree weather to the restaurant. So after going only 200 ft we turned around and went back to the ranch. The employees were very nice and gave us our money back. Their website and several phone calls didn't paint a realistic picture about how hard cross-country skiing is or how far the restaurant is to let two, ignorant, average physical shape, dumb tourists make an informed decision. We will be going back again someday because it looks like fun and the restaurant sounds great but we will definitely be taking the sleigh ride :).

I used to live in Aspen area for 16 years and yes this is my first review for this business, it's better late than never right? Jeff is the guy who in charge in this place, (he is the best) he's been there forever! This place used to be tiny hut, but now is so beautiful and very mountain decorative feels. Everyone works here is very friendly, they are very helpful and very hard working people. This is our tradition in the last 17 years that we cross country or walk with friends and family every holiday to Pine Creek Cook House for lunch. We saw few famous people who are in the movie industry at this place to rent skis and have the same tradition just like us, isn't it something? This is the options that you can do around Ashcroft; Cross country skiing Snow shoeing Ride the horse buggy Ghost town tour or just simply walk, the view is absolutely stunning! If you want to go beyond, I saw people bring their alpine skis and camping gear and start hiking to above and beyond. Thank you Jeff and staff, thank you Ashcroft!

So awesome! My friends and I were looking for something a little different to do in Aspen & Snowmass so we just decided to drive up to the ghost town of Ashcroft. I had read that there wasn't much up there but the drive was gorgeous so we decided to kill some time & go explore. I'm SO glad we did bc we found the ski touring right there. The guys there are super nice and helpful, and the prices were cheap - $15 pass for the day for adults + $20 for rentals... as opposed to $160 for downhill in Aspen. So here you can cross-country ski or snowshoe which is very cool since I had never had the opportunity to try either. They have a bunch of different runs you can take. Since we were beginners we took one called Flynn. It was so beautiful!!! And the best part is that there were so few people at times we were the only ones out in a giant open landscape of white & towering mountains. It was definitely one of those "pinch" moments. It being my first time cross-country skiing, it was a bit challenging at times. The curves are the hardest to manage, but it wasn't too bad. It was all worth it though bc we had a beautiful lunch at the Pinecreek Cook House at the top of the run. It's a wonderful restaurant with an amazing view and very friendly staff. The story there is that there are sherpas that live on premises and they are the chefs. I had the sherpa stew which is with buffalo meat. We also shared Nepalese dumplings (also with buffalo meat). And the best bloody mary I may have ever had. All in all, this was an amazing experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a change of pace from the overcrowded & overpriced slopes in Aspen or Snowmass!!!

We took the Snowshoeing tour with Bobby as our guild. It was a lot of fun. Make sure you eat a solid breakfast and drink a good amount of water before you start. The truck up to the cook house is fun but had some moments that take a good amount of energy. Bobby was just knowledgeable about the history and natural that surrounds you during the tour. The food at the cookhouse is seriously amazing!!! It's about a 5 hour tour including stopping for lunch. Definitely worth it for beginner snowshoeing folk like myself.
