The 12 Best Chaat Vendors in New Delhi | Eater

"This Old Delhi stalwart, a literal hole in the wall on a street corner, is rightfully iconic for a range of crowd-favorite chaat recipes, made from traditional mixes of spices and recipes devised centuries ago. Everything is reliably great, but the specialty is dahi papdi: papdi crackers served with a topping of thick, house-made yogurt, boiled potatoes, and tangy chutneys. It makes a great starter before moving on to other options, with the helpful advice of whichever member of the Jaiswal family is behind the counter; all of them have a preternatural ability to tell customers’ preferences and provide recommendations. Look for the sign for Ashok Chaat in front of the small, colorful space, the steel containers exhibiting various chaat offerings, and the sea of bickering residents who surround the stall at all times of day." - Sharanya Deepak

Located conveniently next to Chawri Bazar Metro Station (Gate No. 3), Ashok Chaat Corner is a diminutive yet legendary shop serving authentic Old Delhi-style chaat. This humble eatery packs a punch when it comes to flavour. I indulged in the Bhalla Papdi Chaat, and it was an explosion of tastes and textures. The crunch, sweetness, and tanginess blended perfectly, transporting me to the nostalgic streets of Old Delhi. The pros: - Unbeatable flavours and quality - Authentic Old Delhi-style chaat - Convenient location - Value for money However, there's a significant con: - Lack of hygiene (a common issue in street food joints) For those seeking an genuine Old Delhi culinary experience, hygiene might take a backseat. Still, it's essential to acknowledge this aspect. Tips: - Must-try: Bhalla Papdi Chaat - Visit during evening hours for the best experience - Be prepared for a crowded and lively atmosphere - Don't expect fancy seating or ambiance In short, Ashok Chaat Corner is a flavourful gem worth visiting for its mouth-watering chaat. Just be mindful of the hygiene and focus on the culinary delight.

Ashok Chat is a gem for street food lovers! I tried their Aloo Chaat, and it was absolutely delicious. The crispy potatoes, perfectly spiced with tangy chutneys, created a burst of flavors in every bite. The balance of sweet, spicy, and tangy was spot on, making it a truly satisfying snack. Quick service and authentic flavors make this place a must-visit for anyone craving tasty, traditional chaat in Delhi. Highly recommended

One of the places in old delhi which still maintained the taste of its Chaat items. Contrary to their popularity, they have not kept up with the hygiene standards. Chutney being swerved in buckets with bare hands is not a sight that would make me visit this place again.

A very cute chat place which is almost 100 years old. We ordered lal alu chat, papdi chat golgappa chat and bhalla papdi and all of them were mouth watering. If you are in Chandni chowk it's a must visit. Located centrally and everyone knows about this place

One of the best places to enjoy chaat and gol gappas that tastes authentic. It is a very small corner shop with no place to sit. You have to stand near the road and eat here The chaat is very good. The gol gappas are also very tasty. Don't miss out this place if you are traveling nearby!

Chat corner near chawri bazar metro station, it was so crowded. I have tried their kalmi bada because it was something different and taste was fine, not too good. Bhalla papdi was the famous of this shop but it was pathetic. Too spicy, no taste in curd, never had this type of Bhalla papdi ever.

Located just on the corner of chawri bazar and could be easily located near chawri bazar metro station gate no 2. A small shop usually crowded. Tried their signature papdi bhalla chaat, the papdi was crispy and bhalla was spongy and melt in mouth giving it a nice texture. The chutneys used were amazing with good tanginess and the added spiciness to the dish was amazing and the curd was complementing it well by soothing it nicely. It was a wonderful combination and great choice of flavors. The gol gappas were amazing too with refeshing paani and crispy puchkas. The fuss about the place is real. Good place to grab a quick bite.

Taste – 5/5 Portions – 5/5 Service – 5/5 Value for money – 5/5 This place has got all your chatpata cravings covered. Located very close to the chawri bazar metro station, this place serves mouth watering chaats and golgappe. Each of their servings is delicious and the prices would make your pockets absolutely happy. I tried their aalloo chaat and it was everything an Indian taste pallete would crave for. Masala coated boiled and chopped alloo served with tangy and spicy chutneys, chilled curd, crispy boondi, powdered spices and topped with masala coated taro (kachalu), this plate was a burst of flavours. It was spicy and yet unresistable. Don’t forget to mention them to keep it less spicy if your spice tolerance is on the lower end. This place definitely makes it to the absolute must have on your next visit to old delhi.
