Ashoka Indian Restaurant - Pinecrest

Visited Ashoka for the first time tonight and really enjoyed every dish. From the appetizers to the main courses, everything was perfectly cooked. Our waitress was very well versed on the menu

We had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Ashoka, located on 12663 S Dixie Hwy in Pinecrest. From start to finish, everything was thoughtfully presented, beautifully prepared, and packed with authentic Indian flavors. We began with a Mango Lassi, which was creamy, refreshing, and perfectly balanced—not too sweet, just right. For appetizers, we ordered the Chicken Samosa—crispy and flavorful, and the standout Garlic Cheese Naan and Truffle Naan, which were delightfully warm, cheesy, and aromatic. Our main courses, Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Korma, were rich, bold, and deeply satisfying. The meats were tender and the sauces were incredibly well spiced. You could really taste the layers of flavor that speak to the time and care put into every dish. But the real surprise came at dessert: the Gajar Ka Halwa. Simply put, it blew us away. It was out of this world—warm, comforting, and unlike any version we’ve had before. It tasted like a treasured family recipe passed down through generations, and it was clear the kitchen poured love into every bite. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, with an eye-catching mural and artistic elements straight from Jaipur that create an inviting and elegant ambiance. As a delightful bonus, there was a talented henna artist offering complimentary designs. My daughter loved it—and so did we! It added a lovely cultural touch to an already special evening. We highly recommend Ashoka—not just for a meal, but for a genuine gastronomic and cultural experience. We’ll definitely be back!

This Indian restaurant is truly a gem! The food was absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavors and perfectly spiced. Every dish tasted fresh and made with care. What really stood out was the amazing service Akshata gave us. She was warm, attentive, and welcoming, making us feel right at home. It’s rare to find a place where both the food and hospitality are equally outstanding. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience!

My husband and I dined at Ashoka recently and loved it. It is a cozy restaurant packed full of flavor. Each dish we had was perfect. Our waitress Akshata was wonderful. She recommended the Samosa Chaat as an appetizer and it was amazing. As our entrees we had the Curry Goat and Seekh Kabab. Both were delicious. We have nothing but great things to say about this restaurant. We can’t wait to come back.

We had such an amazing time at Ashoka in Pinecrest! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and beautiful--loved the mural and the artistic touches from Jaipur that give the place so much charm. We started with a Mango Lassi (creamy & refreshing) and shared the Chicken Samosa, Garlic Cheese Naan, and Truffle Naan--all fresh, crispy, and bursting with flavor. Our waitress delivered top notch service as well. For the main course, we had the Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Korma--both absolutely delicious, with rich, flavorful sauces and perfectly cooked meats. But the real showstopper? The Gajar Ka Halwa. WOW. It was unlike anything we've had--warm, comforting, and clearly made with love. It honestly tasted like a treasured family recipe. Out of this world. To top it all off, there was a complimentary henna artist offering designs! My daughter loved it. Such a fun and thoughtful touch to a great night. Highly recommend for anyone looking for incredible Indian cuisine and a unique cultural experience. We'll definitely be back!

Great food, very sweet staff, cozy intimate vibes. Overall a fantastic evening - we ate lamb vindaloo and tikka masala salmon. Both were absolutely delicious. However, the star of the show was the garlic cheesy naan!!! Free surface lot parking

Such a cute little restaurant with some dark lighting & amazing food. This is some of the best Indian food I've been able to find in the greater Miami area so far. The Cheesy Garlic Naan was perfect. The Tikka Masala sauce was to die for. I tried it with salmon & was obsessed. Place that sauce on anything & it will be fabulous. Portions are great & very filling! They had 2 great employees at the time who working hard, very polite & helpful! Definitely will be coming back for more!

Came for my birthday tonight and Service was amazing. Food took a while but tasted hot and fresh so it's worth the wait. Nice little cozy spot. Loved the decor and music playing. Check it out.

Another fine hidden gem! Hubby & I venture out of our comfort zone often, with yelp as our guide. Tonight we found ourselves in need of the exotic spices. We yelped up a lovely place in nearby pinecrest town center. It's quiet, pretty and well served. Only one waiter tonight Weds at 8pm. He gets it done well and paid close attention to our preferences, giving great suggestions. We had an amazing red cauliflower app, which was even better than we imagined! I chose my standby chicken tikka masala & hubby got a recommended lamb dish. Yes, It did not disappoint! The atmosphere is comfortable and lovely appropriate decor. The place itself is small, but serves very well. Prices are in line with the area. Check it out if you are in this area of Miami looking for Indian and the like. Once you enter---- the music, and entire atmosphere calms you down - ready for a serene meal. I'd love to bring my girl here for a relaxed, romantic dinner. the paintings, lamps and doors all beautiful I ordered the paneer makhani with vegetables, garlic naan and the mango lassi. I always leave leftover for dinner but not this time... ate it all.. my belly hurts a bit cause I'm so stuffed but no regrets... delish My server was quite attentive and cordial-- great service.

This is just to update or better yet, to add something new to my previous review. Ashoka Indian is still a great contender for best traditional Indian food in Miami. I know Ghee has it's followers, but Ashoka in my opinion, is way better. The Lamb Chettinad and butter chicken are amazing. Always a great choice and if you are not a fan of the sauces... try their chicken tandoori. Is excellent! Service is friendly and food is served in a timely manner. Clearing the table after dinner can be improved but.... It isn't a deal breaker for me. The ambiance is okay... it has dimmed lighting which i appreciate and decor is basic but not cheesy. Give it a try when in the mood for great Indian food.

Food was excellent and very authentic. Service was very friendly and attentive even though they were shorthanded. I've been here three times and never been disappointed.

My husband and I had a delicious meal at Ashoka. Our server Akshata was fantastic! She was welcoming and had great recommendations. As per her recommendation we started with the Samosa Chaat which was delicious! This is the perfect appetizer and full of flavor. We chose the Seekh kabab with curry sauce and the curry goat for dinner. Both were delicious and had the perfect amount of spice. The cheesy garlic naan was also perfect. This will now be our go to for delicious Indian dishes.

I don't know how many reincarnations this particular spot has gone through. Before Ashoka it was Saffron, and before that Imlee, and I am pretty sure it was still another Indian restaurant before Imlee, which name I cannot recall. We went there for lunch. Their lunch menu has many choices, from vegetarian to lamb, at a very good value too. You can choose a smaller set, or the thali, which includes salad and dessert as well, prettily arranged on a tin tray. The samosa is excellent, crunch on the outside and on our first bite, steamy hot! It's great they are freshly fried instead of made ahead. The lunch portion doesn't have a lot of meat, but with the delicious sauce scooped over the rice, along with the naan and other food, it's not likely you will go hungry, and given the price, I think it's a fair value. Service is on point too.

This was our first time trying out Ashoka, and it was a great experience! We started with the gabi lasooni, which was good and they were able to make mild but still have a lot of flavor. I was excited for the Baingan Bartha - one of my favorite dishes - and it was very good and smokey. I loved that there was a whole vegetarian section with lots of options! I'd like to come back and try other veggie dishes as well. We both also ordered a mango lassi and garlic naan. Service was very friendly and fast. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice - the decor felt upscale but comfortable at the same time. The decorations are fun and festive, and for a Friday night date night, it was great with mood lighting. We are happy to have found a good Indian restaurant in Pinecrest and will be coming back soon to try more dishes!

I already have a favorite Indian restaurant locally but I was in the neighborhood and hungry and this popped up with 4.7 stars on Yelp so I said let's give it a try. Expectations were high and they met them all. It's an attractive restaurant that happened to be fairly empty when we went there. I was really happy to see that they had a number of my favorites on the menu as well as some things that I have not tried before. Looking at the reviews, I settled on the Lamb Chettinad. This is typically a spicy south Indian dish and was reviewed highly by others. The waiter seemed intent on talking me out of this and instead serve me a different dish, which I honestly forget the name of. It was a creamy sauce and I ordered it very spicy. Sadly, it was not very spicy. It was, however quite good, but I found myself wishing I had gone with my original order. My wife had the chicken masala, which is her go to dish at Indian restaurants. It was excellent. It might've been among the best I've ever had. Portions were little small and prices were a little high. We also had an appetizer, Lasooni Gobi, a cauliflower dish that was phenomenally good. Overall, I thought the restaurant was excellent, but I was taking a back that their scale of spiciness is so out of line with other Indian restaurants. service was excellent with the exception of a recommendation that just seemed to steer me away from what I really wanted. I will go back because there are many high points to the experience here. Next time I will insist upon the dish that I originally want.

We decided to go for some Indian tonight for dinner. When we arrived, we realized our usual spot was under new ownership and let me tell you: Ashoka truly impressed us with its delicious and authentic cuisine. We ventured into new territory with the Lasooni Gobi as an appetizer, which had an amazing balance of sweet, spicy, and traditional Indian spices--definitely a new favorite. For our main course, we shared a Lamb Biryani and garlic naan, both of which were outstanding. The attentive service and quick arrival of our food added to the positive experience. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

Very yummy! Came here for dinner for the first time yesterday to celebrate my birthday and loved it. First I do want to share that this restaurant has a very intimate space so reservations are highly recommended. The dinner menu is extensive! So many great options, chicken, lamb, and vegetarian dishes primarily. We went with a naan basket (not pictured) this was great, it came with naan, garlic naan, cheese naan, and onion naan. We ordered the tandoori wings as an appetizer, they come with about 6-7 wings sitting on a bed of onions and peppers. These were cooked perfectly, a little crisp around the edges and lots of flavor! My husband enjoyed the lamb samosas, it comes as a pair packed with meat and a sauce on the side. Next we ordered the chicken lollipops, I wasn't sure about these initially (what's the difference between this and the wings) boy was I glad we got them. The chicken lollipops come in a set of 3 doused in a sweet and spicy glaze and very crispy exterior with juicy, flavorful meat inside 10/10. We had some butter chicken and an order of vegetable biryani also very yummy. The service was nice and they will ask for spice level, we went medium and found that was perfect for us. I loved the spice profile! All in all this is a hidden gem that deserves a lot more attention! I can't wait to come back again.

The food was the best I have ever eaten of this cuisine which I search for in every place I visit. Fresh and flavorful and so delicious that I cannot decide which of the dishes we tried was better! Save to say, I would order both the Saag Chicken and Kadai Chicken again. The service and ambiance was brilliant and could not be improved- was almost as if I had travelled to the country for my meal. Since they are right in Pinecrest Fl I will be able to return more often.

The chicken tikka masala was excellent. The garlic naan was also made perfectly and had such a nice taste. The rice was perfectly cooked as well. To top it off, the service was fantastic and were all very very nice and attentive. I would absolutely come back in a heart beat! My only complaint is that it was a little hot inside. Other than that, great place to have Indian food.

First indian restaurant where we get tasteless indian food. White rice no cardamom or any spices, tasteless tikka massala, tasteless naan. It was just bad! Complete waste of money! Plus, hair in the food!! Never again!

I placed a pickup order by phone getting ahead of the Mother's Day rush. The employee by on the phone was great giving me suggestions and explaining a few dishes. I ended up ordering a vegetable mix platter as an appetizer, lamb tikka masala, paneer tikka masala, patiala chicken, chicken biryani, rasmalai, and mughlai kheer. I waited about 5 minutes at the restaurant until I was approached by an employee and while waiting I saw their dosas...they are insane!!! Their dosas are an arm's length and look delicious! That's something I'll be ordering when I come back definitely!!! Also, their dishes are big with good portions. Got my food instantly and the smell took over my car and I was in the clouds! What a delicious smell!!!! Gotta say that got home ande and my family began eating immediately. Everything was heavenly good! The appetizers were still crispy and came with a nice yogurt dip. The spiciness level was great. But the flavors were on another level! The rasmalai and mughlai kheer were desserts and delightful as well; not too sweet to finish the meal strong! Didn't have the chance to take pictures and it was take out but will be back this week and will make sure to take some good pictures. Now I have 2 favorite Indian restaurants near me and Ashoka is one of them! 100% recommended!!!

Went here the first time today because we love Ashoka on Flagler but this is closer. Assuming the name will speak for itself, this cozy little place in Pinecrest ticked all the boxes and it was so very delicious. We have the Cauliflower as appetizer, Mango Chicken and Biryani and a Mango Lassi. Awesome! The service was incredibly friendly and accomodating. We're looking forward to come back soon

The name has changed but I've been coming here for years. Food is Always consistent and the gourmet Indian cuisine is authentic yet leaves room for fusion. Staff is always ready at your beck and call. Only Indian place to check out in all miami!

I have an extensive knowledge of Indian Cuisine. Hands down , I have never had food that tasted this good. The naan was crispy, the Goa goat curry and paneer had me licking the plate. My guest had never had Indian prior, said this was her best meal she has ever had. South Miami/Pinecrest this place is a true gem.

I have been coming to this location for over 15 years, since the days it was first ran as an "Imlee". Throughout this time, the name has changed a few times, but I'm happy to say, the food quality, flavors, and restaurant atmosphere are as good or better than ever. The Butter chicken, Vindaloo, and Chana Masala are sure to keep me coming back to this gem in Pinecrest for many more years to come!
