How to Plan a 24-Hour Getaway to Ocean City | Eater DC

"Staying at the newly renovated oceanfront Ashore Resort & Beach Club feels resort-style, done up in nautical stripes and ocean-blue tones, with attentive staff who will set up beach chairs and umbrellas and deliver drinks from the on-site Wahoo Beach Bar to your lounger." - Adele Chapin

Overall a 7.5/10. The balcony fits one person standing up; don't let the picture deceive you. The safe malfunctioned and it took over an hour to get someone to help us. The bathroom fan in 1519 sounded like a jet taking off and the a/c unit was also had a loud oscillating noise. The room was clean, large enough for us, had a small fridge, tv, and the bed was clean and comfortable. It could have used a sofa as the room was relatively empty. The restaurant was very good and our server was amazing. We loved the beach, the free umbrella service, chairs, and towels. We also ate at the outside bar/restaurant which was also good. We were on the 15th floor for almost a week. Annoyingly, only one or two of the three of the elevators were functioning the entire stay. The waits for the elevator c/b long. Check in and check out were quick and easy.

We had a great time staying at Ashore! The Wahoo Bar happy hour was great on Thursday evening. Friendly staff! All the conveniences you could hope for at a nice resort. Our beds were made everyday, fresh clean towels daily. The two days we spent on the beach were even better with staff setting up an umbrella and chairs for us! And they also had a waitress taking your drink and food orders if you desired. All in all, a great experience! We will definitely be staying here again! Great value for your money! Beautiful property.

Google
I'm surprised with the negative reviews. We enjoyed our stay at Ashore and will definitely return when traveling with the fur baby|Pros|1.EXCELLENT customer service. From the moment we checked in until check out, the entire staff was great. We had a slight hiccup with a malfunctioning AC. However, the situation was eventually remedied, and they gave us food and drink vouchers for the inconvenience.|2. Cute resort-like setting. Its not the Carribean but I really appreciated the attempted resort setting. We spent alot of time at the beach bar ordering drinks and overlooking the beach. Great quiet, relaxing getaway.|3. Dog friendly! Yet, the hotel didnt smell like pets and we didnt hear dogs barking throughout the hotel.|4. spacious rooms. We had a 2 queen bed room slightly overlooking the beach. Great size.|CONS|they could use some touching up on the paint job in the hallways. The bedroom sheets could also use some freshening up/replacement.||Overall, I would recommend Ashore.

Check in was a breeze. Room was clean. Pool area is too small for amount of guests. It would have been nice to use the hot tub but the same group of people were there all day for the entire weekend. Also kids younger than 10 in the hot tub. There should be rules enforced regarding duration and kids. There was never any clean towels. Beach area is nice. They have a wait staff for their private beach and the complimentary umbrellas and chairs is a nice touch. Ice machines are broken on most floors. We stayed on the 7th floor and had to go to 15 to get any ice. When booking your trip I would request a higher floor. The rooms are bigger and have a bigger shower but you'll pay extra. We were told the dryer broke when we were there. It didn't effect us because we only stayed for 2 days but this speaks to overall maintenance of the hotel. Our checkout was speedy but they only had one person working the front desk. This could be helped with a checkout feature from the room which wasnt available. I would also recommend a smart tv because there was only 50 channels or so. It's not a bad place but nothing about it would keep me coming back year after year.

Google
I loved everything about ASHORE. The rooms were updated and very pleasant - great view. I used all the amenities - gym, bikes, chairs and tents. The front desk was very accommodating. The room service was beyond excellent. Maria (15th floor) was always available. I explained to her that I was a clean freak and she cleaned the room frequently. My second day there I requested if she could mop the floors and clean the bathrooms - it was taken care of immediately. She was always bringing towels and offering help. Also, perfect location! This was my first time there and I plan to return frequently.

Had a great Labor Day vacation stay at Ashore. Friendly and helpful staff. Loved the view and amenities. I only wished housekeeping was more thorough with cleaning and the entertainment room pillows need cleaning/refreshing. Overall a really nice stay.

Google
I reserved a room with 2 queens for me and my daughter. When we arrived we were given a room with a king and pull out sofa. The front desk did not make us aware of this change so we had to drag our luggage back down and were then told there were no rooms with 2 queens left and my daughter could sleep on the pull out couch. By the time we pulled the bed out - it was very late. The mattress was all springs and it was clear the sheets were dirty. Even if the sheets were clean, I wouldn’t have made her sleep on it. The king bed was comfortable. The elevators are very busy. It took 15 minutes to go down most times. We ended up taking the elevator up to go down. Trying to reach the front desk with questions on the phone is impossible. The line either rings and no one answers or it’s busy and you get hung up on. The one nice perk is that staff will put out an umbrella and chairs for you on the beach if you stay there. However, there aren’t enough for all guests and we did not get one on the second day.For the price we paid I expected staff to be a little friendlier as well. I got an attitude every time I asked a question except on the day we checked out. Overall I would not stay there again.

Erica J.

Google
The king bed suite was perfect for a couples getaway, very clean. The service was excellent and we enjoyed all of the options the resort offered from live music, restaurants, events and reserved beach umbrellas for guests. Only feedback are the small balconies with no room to sit in a chair. Would’ve liked to have option to hang out on balcony. All in all great experience and would return.

Yelp
**10/10 Stay - Great Experience!** I've stayed at this hotel before, back when it had a different name, and I was pleasantly surprised by the renovations and rebranding--it looks great! This visit was for business, but I brought my daughter along. She had to check in on her own, and the staff made the process smooth and easy for her, which I really appreciated. During our stay, I ended up needing to stay an extra night due to work, and the hotel was kind enough to extend my stay at the same rate--huge plus! We also visited the Tide Room where we had eggs, bacon, and potatoes--simple but delicious. My daughter went to the beach every day and even got to watch the hotel setting up for a beautiful wedding. Our room was clean, cozy, and "cute" in her words. She didn't want to leave, and honestly, neither did I. Would I come back? Absolutely. It was a 10/10 stay!

Yelp
What a beautiful spot in OC. Staff were friendly rooms are spacious and clean ( the bed was comfortable - even if that is subjective) - especially the comforter. So much so, I ordered one for my home! The bar on the property usually had live music playing and the food was delicious - Good happy hour specials ($8 crushes) Their crushes are probably the best ones we tried all weekend. Our only complaint would be the slow elevators ... and perhaps if you leave the hotel - parking can be difficult since it's right on the ocean and people who access beach use their lot. They didn't have the permits just yet (early in season?) The absolute best perk is the umbrella and chairs but you have to get down early to secure and we only got lucky one out of the three days. The pool is too small for this size of a resort and people were getting intense saving chairs ...

Yelp
This is how you get 1 star review: Unfriendly waitress, didn't even ask us if we wanted drinks. We had to literally ask for water. Burger that had 3 options of cheese, came without the one I asked for (cheddar) I asked if they could change TV channel from news to anything that doesn't show war and carnage. They said yes, but never changed it. It's also a doggie friendly establishment which is fine by me but why allow dogs to sit on bar stools at the bar as if they are customers? Plus one customer's pet was barking the whole morning from 8 am. If I was playing loud music from my room would there be as much understanding? I doubt it

Yelp
I wanted to give more, I really did.. the customer experience wasn't positive. Okay so our suite was cute but somethings were a little off putting. To make a long story short we were in town for one night for a wedding the following day and it was just an odd experience. 1. Everyone was really nice, except for one of the ladies at check in. She was rude to people checking in, she tried with me and I let her know quickly she had the wrong one, and she was rude to the person she was training. This was on 03/14 at around 4:00 pm. 2. A/C unit rattled, not like a normal rattle, like about to take off to space rattle. It was obnoxious and we told them about it at checkout. How no one could hear it was beyond me. It was wild. Note, if you're not there early, you park across the street. We were able to find parking at the hotel easily but the overflow is across the main road. There were things we noticed in the room like where the floors had been hammered repeatedly which seemed odd for somewhere that appears so stylish and nice. They also had a lot of sink and give which made me wonder if there was just carpet underneath. I don't know. I'm not sure paying for a view room is worth the balconies barely fit one person comfortably. It was nice to listen to the water but again, was it worth it? Idk. For us it was a small price but if you're expecting a full balcony, don't!

Yelp
Its overly ambitious to call this a "resort". The rooms are dated, paint chipping in bathroom..balconies are standing room only.. of all the floors, only one (3rd) had ice machine that actually worked. There are no full length mirrors... bar closes at 11pm.. no room service, although they advertise it.. no streaming channels..worst lighting you could imagine for a room.. zero security.. I've stayed at many resorts and absolutely would not put this subpar hotel in that category.

Yelp
Who thinks it's a great idea to spend millions on a beach front property and not have one room facing the ocean? and the balcony it's so small that you have to take turns looking at the water. the ballroom ceiling tiles are old and filthy and you have to trample through the restaurant from the beach to get to your room. what a piss poor design. oh and the tv is 20 feet away from the bed. Never again will I stay here. and you open the door to hear the water all you hear are the roof top units running.

Yelp
I should have read the reviews online. Currently staying at the Ashore in Ocean City MD. Well good luck if you need to warm up something in you room. No microwave nor oven which is ok, however, the staff will not move a finger to help you out. They will charge your dollars for using the microwave but they need to move it to your room. My room is missing furniture, no night side tables( leave everything in the floor)

Kathy T.

Yelp
Make the repairs that are necessary. Clean the rooms, including ceiling fans. The noise outside of our room was so loud all night long. We did not get any sleep.

Manuel L.

Yelp
I stood the Ashore Resort for a family reunion the weekend of 8/1-8-3. During that time there was a gas leak and as a result no hot water for the entire weekend. All restaurants were closed, no hot food which is understandable when going consider the boiler issue. They offered free drinks from 6-8pm and cold food for breakfast and lunch. It was an unfortunate experience. During our family reunion banquet, my family was charged for drinks while the main bar had free drinks...I would think, as a courtesy, they would make both bars free considering the circumstances. During the banquet we were also forced to use paper plates and plastic utensils. When asked about a refund, we were told that we would get our taxes refunded on the room and that's it. A complete joke! I would not recommend staying here. Stay away!

Kristen E.

Yelp
I stayed the first weekend of August and the experience was an absolute nightmare. We were evacuated due to a carbon monoxide leak, mind you, four people were hospitalized. That alone is terrifying and unacceptable. When I checked in, the front desk casually asked if I'd received a phone call about no hot water. I did not. No call, not even a voicemail. I was left to wash up using cold hand towels by the sink every single day. No hot shower, no heads-up, no apology that felt sincere. As compensation, we got one drink each, a sad breakfast of bread and fruit, and dinner, which I skipped after seeing how bad breakfast was. After a serious health and safety incident, the least they could've done was cover all food and drinks, not offer cheap, token gestures. This hotel clearly has no clue how to handle guest safety, communication, or customer service.

Evan H.

Yelp
When we checked in we were informed that there was no hot water in the hotel. There was a gas leak on Friday 8/1, we checked in on Saturday 8/2. We received a phone call to cancel our dinner reservation on Saturday, they should have told us about the hot water situation at that time. Hot water was restored 8/4 at 4PM. Housekeeping was non-existent, our room was finally cleaned on Wednesday. We had to go down to the front desk to ask for toilet paper. Just very poor customer service.

Yelp
The Location and design of this hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The menu and food quality were definitely lacking. My Husband and I gave this resort 4 stars because of the location, views and property other than that the breakfast and coffee was not even 1 star.

Sara P.

Yelp
This hotel experience has been fabulous - everything is clean, newly renovated, and matches the photos on the website. Service was terrific, food and drinks were good. Amazing location. Definitely would recommend!

Yelp
I Ashore you this place sucks Last time we visited Ocean City Maryland was about five years ago. Love the Clarion as this is the place to go. Cool pool bar, great staff, clean rooms, and most of all great accommodations especially on the beach. So let's start the day off as we get there around 2:45. Usually by then we can check in even though check in is at 4:00. Room wasn't ready and no biggie there. Went to the indoor bar since the outdoor had all of their 12 chairs at the bar taken. Finally get a call that the room is ready around 4:00. You know what was awesome? Everyone else checking in had their room ready at the same time so there was a nice long ass line. Not as nice as it was that the person who was checking in my wife left and never came back while someone just sat there and stared before my wife said something. Also got a nice promotion where we got a $50 voucher which was good for anything at the hotel not alcohol related. I'll get back to these gems later. Finally checked into the room around 4:45 since the line for the elevator was slightly longer than the men's bathroom at halftime for an NFL game. Partial ocean view with a balcony that didn't lock. Not as if I'm expecting Spiderman to rob us, but wasn't terrific. Also a nice ice bucket with water in it still, a popsicle stick stuck to the floor, a popsicle stick stuck to the side of the sink, and when we realized our feet were black, it's because there is so much dirt and sand on it. So to sum it up we basically waited for the room to be cleaned to check in at 4:00. Maybe they took a dump and cleaned their backside cause they certainly didn't do a thing to the room. Went downstairs and used to the stairwell, which was about as clean as the garages at the airport cause I wasn't waiting for the elevator. The manager in fairness was nice and gave us a new room that was a little bigger and a little cleaner along with another $50 voucher and 2 free drinks, but still dirty floor and it was literally next to the elevator. I kid you not this room was between all four elevators so we can listen to the sweet sounds of "ding" nonstop and all the people talking loudly. Thankfully the air conditioning was nice and cold and sounded like a vacuum cleaner so we could zone the elevator out. Next morning we decided to go to breakfast at the restaurant near the hotel since we had the voucher. Restaurant was borderline empty and we sat outside. Outside was nice and so was the couple telling us that if we want a beach chair we need to be there to reserve at 7:00 AM. F that. They were outside waiting for more coffee as we were just hoping for a waitress and water. After 10-15 minutes we said something to a hostess who didn't seem to care and on our way out my wife expressed her frustrations to the manager. Anyway later that day we get a random phone call from the main manager who apparently found us thanks to the people who were sitting outside with us for the time we were there. Big apology and gave us $100 gift card which did include drinks. Went there for appetizers and the food was pretty good. Back to the beach, they weren't kidding. No umbrellas and no chairs, but thankfully a couple got up. Sucks for people who actually want to go and relax at a decent time that's not 7:00 AM. Also went to the pool which had more kids in it than Sesame place. As for the $50 vouchers the only place we tried to use it was the gift shop where the person working there looked at us like we had two heads each when we handed her the voucher. So much for them. Overall, don't recommend. I'll give it 2 stars cause there were some people there who really tried to make up for this disaster, but this new ownership absolutely sucks. Would not recommend.

Dena M.

Yelp
Horrible experience we upgraded to a suite and it smelled like mildew then we open the the couch up for the kids and there were Hershey wrappers , stains, chips and crumbs when I called the front desk they told me there is no house keeping available and they couldn't do anything for me there was no other room to switch to and I would have to wait for the morning what am I supposed to do we can't all fit in one bed there was also holes in the wall cuts in wood floor

Yelp
This review is for the days of July 6th-10th. We got to the Resort around 10am and the staff let us check in early. That was a perfect start to our stay. There's plenty of parking near the Resort and even an overflow parking area across the street. We were given 2 coupons for a free drink at the cute little outdoor bar restaurant. I think they were valued at $15 each. So many amenities that the Resort provided: Free daily yoga on the beach, free use of an umbrella and two chairs, free parking, use of nice cruiser bikes, live music. The beach is literally right behind the Resort. We were on the 16th floor on the very end corner. Our view was amazing. We even slept with the sliding door open every night so we could listen to the waves crashing. They did have a screen door , balcony and small refrigerator in our room. Our room was very clean and updated in a beach theme. The cleaning staff was in our room daily cleaning. There were plenty of USB plugs and outlets in our room. The staff was always cheerful and helpful. Being celiac I was thrilled that the chef knew what menu items I could eat. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

Yelp
Stayed here a few nights for a conference. This is a resort that holds many large conferences. There is a parking lot on the surface level by the main door and a parking lot across the street for extra spots. Free parking. but they give you a hang time for your car. Check-in took a while, there was maybe 3 persons checking in for hundreds of people. At the desk, the check in process was quick and simple. There was only about 3 elevators for the hotel resort. So the wait time varied. On site are 2 pools, indoor and outdoors, hot tub Restaurant Outdoor bar area/ seating on the beach My hotel viewed the beach on both sides of the property. Glass door to a balcony for refreshing views and sounds. The conference Food was just okay.

Chris D.

Yelp
Wonderful beachfront resort with great amenities! First class restaurant in the Tideroom with oceanfront view. Fun beach bar with cocktail and lunch service ON THE BEACH! Bartenders Jamie, Ian, and James made each day fun and the manager Jimmy was very helpful and accommodating. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Nicole A.

Yelp
Stayed here last year for a dance competition and would have given 1 star. Stayed again this year and the rooms and bathrooms are a huge upgrade. However they are still undergoing renovations and the restaurant wasn't open. To get to the pool you need to walk through the lobby outside and through the parking lot. The pool had tiles falling off. It's supposed to open at 10. One morning we were all waiting for someone to come unlock the gates. I finally had to call the front desk at 10:06 and they sent someone. There is ample parking, including a lot across the highway. Rooms were not cleaned daily. One day we did not have the "do not disturb sign up" and still no one came to clean. We had to ask the front desk to bring up fresh towels. Hotel is right on the beach which is nice if you are into that sort of thing.

Yelp
This place is like the hotel version of Fyre Festival! Website makes everything sound and look amazing but when you arrive it becomes extremely apparent nothing on the website is real. Sadly after seeing the website I never bothered to actually check reviews. With thousands of nights staying in hotels I could never imagine a hotel could get away with this. They even fall at the basics! Rooms are decent so since it was just a one night stay and we arrived late it wasn't worth an argument with the non-caring staff. While we are on the rooms few notes on that front tv remote had dead batteries, door to room doesn't actually close correctly resulting in door not autolocking if you don't force the door shut, the mini-fridge is absolutely comical! It's 10L!!! These things are designed to be in cars, so much so they even have a DC plug not an ac (wouldn't matter cause there's no outlet anywhere near where they put out). The side of room with bed only has one out so one of the bedside lamps and nightstands with integrated outlets don't work cause it's no where near an outlet (apparently cost of room isn't enough to cover an extension cord). Glad the nonfunctional lamp was there so we had a bulb for the other lamp which had no bulb. On to the rest of the "resort"; everything is closed. The only exception is the Wahoo Beach bar which is supposed to be open till 11 daily according to the website but actually closes at 9, so due to late arrival couldn't experience what they had but based on rest of this place likely for the best. Website claims an award-winning restaurant which has never been open...how do you win awards before you have opened? Asked front desk about breakfast in the morning was told I could buy coffee in the "gift shop". Seriously with what this place charges there isn't even a self server waffle maker like at a motel 6. The pools and hot tubs are like everything else closed. In the year this place has been open they haven't even removed the signs from the previous resort that closed down. So long and short if all you want is a bed; you could stay here or a Motel 6; motel six you could at least make a waffle in the morning and have so Cheerios.

Yelp
Had a great time here! Ian our bartender was fantastic! The food was delicious! Beautiful scenery from the bar and tables! They have outdoor seating as well. Highly recommend this place. Won't be disappointed.

Suz H.

Yelp
liked updated and thoughtful decor for a beach club. staff very friendly and helpful. food is pricey for families but decent. great stay, we'd come back.

Cindy P.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed for three nights and it was a true delight Renovations are so well placed and we loved all the common areas. Our room was great - the new bathroom is so nice. The cleanliness is everywhere....room, bathroom, hallways and common areas. My only suggestion is a full length mirror in the bed area so women can do makeup and hair away from the bathroom. Just a thought !!! Loved the food too. We used 2 restaurants and the food was delicious. All the staff we came in contact with were also a delight!
google avatar

Arielle D.

Yelp
It should be illegal to misrepresent or mislead patrons with photoshopped pictures of rooms or should I say pictures taken from the "right angle". This seemed more like Motel 6 rather than Fontainebleau. We were literally hoodwinked! We thought this would be comparable to Fontainebleau Miami but we were fooled. If you want to be near the beach in a two star smelly hotel with subpar facilities this is the place for you. The rooms were 300 dollars per night and it was horrible! Totally not worth the price when there are much nicer hotels in the area. Next time I rather stay further away from the beach with better amenities.

Emily P.

Yelp
They've got a great marketing team! Booked here because it looked great and a nice getaway but was fooled. Majority of the staff we interacted with in the hotel were unwelcoming and useless to answer any questions or offer explanation if those extra services they offer. When we checked in, there were multiple guests complaining about extra charges. We have reason to believe hotel staff came in to our room and took some of our food that we had brought while we were out on the beach not enjoying the guest services they offered due to unexplanations and ignored requests about it. Balcony? Nope. Its a slanted triangle slab. Elevator? Sure. But it takes way too long and the seemingly regulars at this place rudely cut you off to get in there. All restaurant staff we interacted with were great. Stay if you wish but its an unfinished wannabe beach club with outrageous prices.

Mia f.

Yelp
great experience!! rooms were spacious and clean, staff was friendly, there's good parking, the beach is right behind!! the only negative thing i can say is that the boardwalk is far away, but for the price it's well worth it considering the quality of the hotel.
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
Rundown hotel to the tune of $400 a night. Paint chipping off our walls and bathroom door. What appears to be mold growing in the bathroom as well. This is not "ocean front views". The hotel is sideways, so neither side is truly ocean front. Also the balconies are standing only. I also paid extra to be in a room on the top 5 floors, to be put in a room on floor 4. They did waive the $30 a day resort fee that includes parking to apologize. Hallways reeked of weed even though this is a 100% non smoking hotel. Also pet friendly, so we heard some barking through the night, but it wasn't terrible. The staff was nice at both the front desk and restaurants. Outdoor and Indoor pool was nice. Hot tub jets didn't work? Live music was cool. You can walk right out on to the beach. This hotel is not near the boardwalk. It's cool that they provide chairs and an umbrella, but they sell out fast. The linoleum floors in the room were decent. This place needs a serious upgrade considering the price. I won't be recommending to anyone.

Tyler G.

Yelp
Went to the taproom bar had a nice vibe can see the beach small bar, bartender James was very nice recommended the ribs for appetizers they were a 9/10. Then moved over to the tide room for dinner more of fine dinning and completely different menu. Service by Ian the bartender again great. I got the fish board (Blackened Wahoo with a great sauce and almost like a Mexican street corn.) One of the best meals I've had in town.
google avatar

Janette G.

Yelp
Not worth the price. The outlet to the tv didn't work so instead of them fixing the outlet, they had an extension cord going to a different outlet. I get it's newly renovated but that's unacceptable for the price we paid.

Tracy W.

Yelp
Beautiful atmosphere and clean environment. The staff is very attentive and kind, from the front desk to the servers. The perfect stay!

Yelp
Disorganized start but ultimately A great trip. Very accommodating to dogs. Rooms were fresh and clean. Staff was polite and friendly.

Tracey W.

Yelp
Bed bugs, poor customer service, dirty rooms; and someone food was left in the refrigerator. I will never stay to this hotel again!!!!!

Mary N.

Yelp
I am here for a long weekend checked in Thursday. I was not given any welcome information sheets. There has been two special here that hotel guest have not had access to the lounge, atrium and the outdoor space. We have had to leave the hotel for food and beverages. Housekeeping comes unpon request, we asked for towels and trash to be removed and neither were done. After stopping by the desk and asking today. The hotel seems to want to cater to groups and not the individual guest. I was told after stopping at the desk tonight again, I should have received a welcome letter, did not. I recommend staying at the Hilton Garden Inn. Mary

I literally just left yesterday and it was an amazing staycation. The room and hallways were clean and designed beautifully. The front desk staff was very professional and attentive. Even though I came for work, this is definitely I place I'd recommend.

Yelp
On a last minute idea we decided to come to ocean city so finding a hotel cheap was a feat. We decided to stay here on good reviews and a decent price. They offered ocean views and it's not " ocean views". The hotel is sideways so you gotta kinda bend your neck and twist and turn to see it. You can't see the ocean from your bed. The balcony was very small hardly enough room for one person. Everything about this hotel was run down And needing repair. Mold in the bathroom paint chipping to a huge hump in the floor. The up side it was clean enough with no bugs so there's that I guess. It is also right on the beach. Don't stay here you can do better.

Yelp
Wouldn't recommend staying here to anyone...service is horrible, hotel room is dirty and rundown. We had to pay extra for parking and to use the umbrellas and chair on the beach...but they were out. But as you can see their workers has plenty to stay cool and comfortable. If you can avoid it don't stay here.

Yelp
The food is wonderful. Definitely try the lobster dumplings and the tuna tartare. Amazing espresso martinis and mai tai's. The view is epic with the restaurant and bar sit on top of beach. Can't wait to come here in the summer when they open the windows. Most def will be back soon.

Yelp
What a difference since my last visit! I was SO unimpressed last time that I wrote a bad review here. Now, in August 2023, I must update that experience. It's really clean. There are normal-sized refrigerators. The gift/coffee shop is airy, light, and well-appointed with a friendly staffer. Exiting directly onto the beach, there's a gazebo for free umbrella and chairs for Ashore guests. Just two things that could still be improved-- the Keurig in my room wasn't OK for me to make my tea. And, the front desk staff is still a bit grumpy and unhelpful. Other than that, I would be delighted if I were assigned to this hotel again!

Yelp
This used to be the best outdoor bar in town with great live music and dancing. New management had ended the live music and doubled drink prices. Boring AND expensive? I'll pass (and it seems everyone else is too)

Yelp
Buyer beware. I went for a conference. Outside of the catering, conference and the front desk staff it was an absolute nightmare. Two bartenders Christina and Alexandra have to be the rudest people I've ever met. I loved just about every other staff member but one bad apple can spoil the bunch.

Yelp
Got here at 2:30pm. No rooms are ready. Wasnt terribly crowded. Probably should have had rooms ready when people check in. I understand there is new mgmt but I would never suggest this as a wedding venue like their website says. Got in the room 10 minutes before I had to get ready for pictures for the event. My plus one waited in the room while I took care of pictures. Got back to relax before dinner and the tv doesn't work... broken outlet.. the room was ok. They put our room next door to the hospitality suite, which was so loud. Never went to a convention where that suite was on the floor everyone was staying on. That went well on til 2am. Needless to say we are checking out a day early. They say they are doing renovations. The food at the banquet was bad. Couldn't even finish my plate. Not sure who cooked it though.

Yelp
Went down to ocean city for our anniversary..a short 4 day stay . The ashore was beautiful and clean and very impressive. The beach was beautiful with there umbrellas and beach chairs included. The entertainment was also a plus . The staff was mostly nice except for 1 Bartender who was rude and nasty. I actually called the manager " Gay " was his name ..whom did apologize for her and supposedly spoke with her. I feel we should of been offered a dinner at one of there restaurants or the very least a free drink ??? But nothing. The rooms r nice but ours was a bit worn with stains on rug and chair and big scratches on the tile. We payed for a suite .. so kinda disappointed with the condition it was in . But our Housekeeping was done and clean everyday on time. I would stay again cause u can bring your dogs . Overall experience was very magical and Happy .

Yelp
Wow, Ashore has really stepped it up! So much nicer than the previous hotel. The room was updated and exceptionally clean. Had a great view and could hear the ocean. I went down to the restaurant and had dinner with friends. The staff was on point with service and excellent suggestions for food and drinks. The food was great. Drinks menu was perfect pairing with food. Once again the view from the restaurant has to be one of the best Ocean City, Md. This will be the only place I will stay in Ocean City from now on.

Yelp
Stayed recently for a dance competition. July 3-8. First, I want to start off by saying they advertised our room with a pull out couch. Our room was supposed to sleep 5 but there was no pull out couch. The hotel is currently under renovations. The elevators are tough. There are only 3 and they move slow. There is no extras at the moment. The outdoor pool was open but the only way to get to the pool is to walk down through the lobby and out through the parking lot. The only bathroom available is back inside the lobby. The beach bar was open and did have food available. The food is decent but definitely overpriced. The hotel has direct access to the beach and provides rinse off hoses near the beach access. The hotel also does provide chairs and umbrellas but they run out quickly. I did see some hotel staff serving drinks on the beach but I did not partake in that. The rooms were spacious and the beds were decent. The bathroom was nice and apparently was just upgraded. We did not have frequent room cleaning services but whenever we called to ask for something (towels etc) the staff promptly brought up what we asked for. There is ample parking both directly outside the hotel and more across the street. There is a bus stop directly outside the hotel. There is not alot directly near the hotel for walking purposes. There is a small grocery store about a 7 minute walk away. Overall, it was a decent experience but not sure that I would willingly choose to stay there again.

Yelp
I feIt deceive if I honestly can put 0 stars I would've this is a completely scam they charge you for services that are not available!!! what kind of people do this!!! Specifically when u take the kids just to enjoy and breathe different airs this is just a shame they should let you know that it's under construction while booking the whole hole hotel is under construction they will give u only floors 16th or 15th because this are the only available floor andos a shame how Ashore hotel takes people money and not letting them know that nothing is working...... I hope they get more bad reviews because it's not fair that the customers doesn't have the option to talk to the manager because their is no manager around to complain and fix this issues some how !!! don't waist your time coming here because they will not give u the money back! And it's not worth it!!!

Yelp
I booked this hotel for a quick getaway and picked this particular hotel because on google it shows an indoor pool. I checked in and got settled and asked the front desk person where the pool was and they told me they don't have an indoor pool anymore and the outdoor pool was closed for the season. I was pretty disappointed to learn that they didn't have an indoor pool because it was the main reason I chose this hotel over others. The hotel is nice but my room doesn't look like the pictures it's pretty bland no pictures, plants or rugs like you see in the google pictures. There also aren't any microwaves which I felt was very inconvenient since I came during the off season and there aren't many food options available. I can't say that I would book this hotel again but if the price was right I would put this hotel before other choices. All in all they should look into updating their pictures on google and invest in at least 1 microwave for guest to use.

Yelp
Everything everyone else has said is true!! The rooms are not beach view. You have a small balcony and you have to twist and move to see the view. The hotel in under renovation but they are doing a half job. When we got to our rooms the side tables were not connected or plug into the electric outlet. We had to move the bed to find out the outlet was full and we had to take turn to charge phones. Horrible!! No microwave and the fridge it's ridiculously small, you can barely fit three can drinks. The don't have great television Chanel options. That's the worst. I've stayed in many hotels that offer smart TV with Netflix, Hulu, Disney and the works. None of the restaurants were open due to renovation. They did offer complimentary drinks under $15. This place was a joke for the price we couldn't use any other service. Big thumps down for this location. We told the front desk about the issues and since we fixed them, they didn't care. The lady roles her eyes and walked away with barely saying an apology.

Yelp
Here for an event. Worst place ever. Very unorganized. The Event started at 415 check in at 4. Our room not ready. The event is on the 15 th floor. Waited in line for like 30 minutes to hear our room wasn't ready and another 20 to get on the 15 floor. 430 still no room

Yelp
I would not make a single comment on this hotel but I am angry, I felt deceived with my reservation, 2 weeks ago we made one to go this long weekend without having an idea that the hotel is under remodeling and that we were going to enjoy as we had planned. The manager's story was that we made the reservation by third parties and that they should have that information more however nowhere on their page does it directly say something either. When we arrived at the hotel there was no one to help us cancel because only the room was enabled, there was no pool ready until the next day. I don't think they will finish the remodeling for this summer. If you don't want to feel that your money was stolen, don't make reservations at this hotel at the moment, it's not worth what they charge.
